King Peter upon hearing of the invasion of an Hungarian army ordered the full army of Croatia to engage the army. His entire army was fielded so as to fight the Hungarian, but they were still outnubered yet this did not affect them seriously as this war would determine the fate of their homes, family, and country.
The Croatian army marched to meet the Hungarian army with all their banners displayed followed the Hungarians in the hopes of catching up to them...
Almos saw the Croatian army and noticed that it had a pitifull amout of cavalry Peter had. "Advance the Infantry forward towards the enemy let the archers weaken the Croats from a distance," He said to his marshell, "We then will attempt a double envelopement manuver. Once their infantry are fully commited, we spilt our cavalry and strike at both of their flanks."
The orders were shouted out and the men turned to face Peter's Army...

The Croatian King Peter ordered his army to halt while they still held the high ground. Then he put his army into ranks with the spearmen in front, then the men-at-arms behind them, and the cavarly and archers in back.
The archers then opened fire on the advancing infantry. With the Croatian spearmen forming a shield wall to help protect against the Hungarian cavalry.
Seeing how the opposing army was deployed, Almos deployed all of his infantry (spearmen and men-at-arms) in as single line out in front, his line dawrfed Peter's lines. The archers moved up in front of the infantry and the cavalry began to split and move to secure the army's flanks. Almos gave the order to fire once the archers were in range of the enemy's first line. The archers let lose their first volley.

King Peter realizing that if they were defeated this day all of his soldiers would die or be captured this day ordered his men to go into a cirular formation. Then he ordered his men to form four parts of the circle with the spearmen at the outer most cirle, the men-at-arms behind them, the archers in the third part of the cirle, and the cavalry in the center.
As well the first volley claimed the lives of a few dozen soldiers and wounded about a hundred more, but about half of them were still able to fight.
Prince Almos moves his infantry as quickly as possible to try to surround the Peter's army. The cavalry on both sides of the formation to swing wide up the hill around the enemy to try to get behind the army. Some the the horsemen were of the old Magyar stock, shooting arrows as they passed by. The archers behind still were firing volley upon volley of arrows.

King Peter at last gave the order for all archers to open fire at the adavancing enemy infantry. Then he order the spearmen to put their spears out along the wall. This battle may be his death, but he would go to his death with honour and glory.
"My Prince," Almos' aide said, "Our men are takeing a beating from the enemy archers within the circle."
Almos replied, "We just need to encircle them. Once their is no escape, our archers and mounted archers will win this for us. We have more archers and more arrows. Tell the commander of the archers to aim for center of the circle, where their archers and cavalry are."
His orders were carried out.

The cavalry began to lose many dozens of their men as the arrows came falling down, but the men just dimounted and rasied their shields in hopes of staying alive. As well the Croatian archers began to fire at the cavalry and archers instead of the infantry.
Men began to slump forward in the saddle. Dozens of Archers were pitching backwards down the hill. Almos shouted at the top of his lungs as his infantry had almost surrounded the enemy, "Aim for their archer's, their archer's."

The archers causlties began to rise as the enemy targeted them. Yet King Peter yelled," Do not stand down men. Let not the Hungarian nomads advnace any further as if they do our country will surely fall."
Almos rode up beside the commander of the archers and told him, "Keep pouring it on. Do not stop untill either they cover the field or you run out of arrows."

The archers were beggining to be to weakened. In response a messanger was sent to the Prince bearing a letter requesting that the King and the Prince dual so as to determine the fate of the battle and prevent further deaths.
Almos considered this option. Almos simply took the messanger hostage and sent his reply back. Another volley of arrows from his men. "I have them where I want them, I have this won." He said to himself.

The king raised a banner symbolizing he wanted to call terms of peace. Yet his knights and himself continued to ride, but without raising their swords.
"I will not have peace! Croatia is mine. Fire a volley upon them." The archer commander reluctantly ordered his men to fire on Peter.

The arrows took out twenty of the knights. The king seeing this and with anger said," You fool! We came bringing an offer of peace! But, you attack us you craven dishonorable betrayer! May your soul be forever be consumed by Hades, along with Judas’s soul.”

The king drew his sword and waced it forward. Upon this his entire army charged with their spears, swords, and axes pointed at their forces. The knights with the king went behind their lines and took up a postion following the army.
ooc: just a question, which direction are they charging. Are they chargeing towards one area of my lines, or are they all charging outward in a circle?

OOC: They are charging in a circle to begin with, but they are branching to begin to form a line.
"Counter-charge, charge now. We can catch them off balance. Charge!" the prince ordered. The army of Hungary advanced, running forward towards the enemy. The Hungarian cavalry that had been behind the enemy circle advance forward but did not attack, they waited for and opening.

King Peter yelled," Spearmen in front. Form a wall, form a wall." The spearmen obeyed their king and put their spears forward. Yet the men-at-arms behind them tried to engage the enemy in melee.
Prince Almos pulled together a unit of archers and gave them the following orders, "If you see Peter's banner out on the field, aim for it. Their resolve must break before ours." Just then the Hungarian infantry smashed into the Croatian lines, and the archers continued to shower death from above. the cavalry still lurked in the rear, waiting for orders.

"This is the kind of battle I like, and the one we will win. One that is man for man, and warrior for warrior." Almos said as he veiwed the situation. Almos rode around the lines to join his cavalry, and waited for the right time.

From the west a Sicilian banner was raised and a hundred knights rode foward bearing this message that was meant Prince Almos," This war upon fellow Catholics should not be when the Infidel is to the southeast and the Pagans to the north and east. Therefore we ask that you break the power of Croatia on this battlefield so as to end this war."
Recieving this message, shouted one word to his cavalry, "Charge!" The cavalry, led personally by Almos, began to gallop at full speed towards the foe. Almos hoped the weight of the charge would finally break the Croatian resolve.

The Croatian shield wall was borken at last and though there were still scattered groups of soldiers forming circular shield walls, but they were few men. Most of the remaining men were exposed to the enemy as they were forced into warrior to warrior fighting and King Peter also was no longer surrnoed by men. King Peter had mounted and with about forty knights they attempted to flee the battle field.

King Peter personally sounded his horn and then raised sword saying," For our famlies. Our people. And the our great nation of Croatia. Croatia has given us life now let us die for the lands of our birth."
With this King Peter and his knights engaged the forces of Prince Almos in a desperate attempt to achieve victory in the already lost battle.
Almos aimed strait for King Peter with his lance, and made his move to kill him. His death would surely break his remaining knights spirits.

As the King Peter was dying he dropped his sword and his hand towards the sun. As he was dying two of his knights approached and overheard him muttering," My kingdom shall pass to the one who is....."
Before he could finish this sentence he died and then all the Croatian soldiers around him let out a cry of anquish that sounded throughout the battle field. As the other Croatian soldiers heard this they began to drop their arms and surrender.
