Niita Diplomatic Meeting/Outreach

Niita
16-12-2005, 03:15
Ace Seiyajin waited patiently in the meeting room. He was sitting at the head of a big, black, glossy oval table. Across the room he had established a large buffet table with a diversity of food and drink enough to hopefully be to the liking of any and all guests who might attend.

He had been a bit apprehensive about this meeting: excited but at the same time nervous. So much had happened over the past two years, it was hard to believe it all. After an uprising of the people against their formal and authoritarian dictator, the people had finally been able to come together, unified, and establish the Republic of Niita, and had their first elections a few months previously. Having overthrown the dictator, the people longed for a change of politics, yearning for greater freedom and equality. Ace, of course, had been the favorite candidate, and so became the nation's first elected official, the first President of Niita.

As the representative of the Social Democratic party, Ace hoped to promote a greater sense of freedom, prosperity, and justice to all of his citizens. He only hoped that the other nations who had accepted his invitation would understand this, and support him in his endeavors. Just remember, he told himself, they may not fully share your same vision, but hopefully they will be tolerant and agreeable enough to form diplomatic relations without any hinderance...

Ace smiled, now moderately confident in his expectations for this meeting, and waited for his guests to arrive...

Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 03:31
Ambassador Titus Brutani. A citizen of the City-State Republic of Halisnovski, member of the Orthodox Church of Halisnovski, and Ambassador-in-Waiting (the name that are given to diplomats without a country) for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was a man... he was a good man, he was a betatron man- wait that's a song. Anywho, he was a good man though. Thirty two, of average build, tanned (like most Halisnovskites were) and brunette, he was the lovechild of a black woman and an Asian man. There are rumors that a poodle was involved, but that has not been confirmed. But yes, this was his first assignment. He couldn't screw this up, but Hell, if he didn't screw it up it wouldn't make this story excellent right? Exactly.

Titus approached Ace with a smile that an innocent, untainted man could only have. Luckily for us his rap sheet is longer then OJ's car chase (hey yo!). He approached to shake Ace's hand. "Hello Mr. President, I'm Titus Cornelius of Halisnovski. We are a City-State striving for a perfect capitalist state without infringing on the rights of man. It's working so far... what exactly is the History of Niita? And would you like to learn the history of Halisnovski?"

If you do prepare for twists and turns and whatnot! Fancy twists... and turns.

A small Bonstocknian commercial passenger jet landed in Niita, carrying on board the Bonstocknian Assistant Chief Deputy Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Hugh Applebottom, along with a security detail at representatives of the Bonstocknian Information Technology industry. Their basic concern was that Niita open up its markets to Bonstocknian goods, especially Bonstocknian computers and software, and allow Bonstocknian investment in its industries, or face "serious consquences." Also, Assistant Chief Deputy Undersecretary Applebottom was charged with asking for Niita to allow a Bonstock to open up a military base within its territory.

In exchange, Bonstock would offer Niita development aid and pay rents for the use of Niitan territory, as well as open up its own markets to Niitan products. It was considered advantagous for both sides.

Ace smiled and greeted the incoming guests with standard "pleasure to meet you's" and such, and introduced himself as Ace Seiyajin, the newly elected President of Niita, and leader of the Social Democratic Party.

To Titus Brutani he said, "I would be more than happy to share my nation's history, as well as to hear the history of yours. Niita, as you may or may not have known, had been inhabited for as long as anyone can remember by primitive natives who lived in huts and engaged in subsistence agriculture, and called themselves Tawanakanos. Seeing as the land was in a heavily tropical area, and surrounded by rainforest, contact with foreigners was almost unheard of.

"About four hundred years ago, however, explorers happened to stumble upon the Twanakano civilization, who recepted them with awe as gods, and began trade and cultural exchange almost immediately. Catching them offguard, the explorers dediced to begin using their advantage of their advanced weaponry to conquer the natives, and colonize and claim the land for themselves. The colony became known as "Twanaka" after the native civilization. In order to survive, the natives were forced to conform to their motherland's culture and etiquette, and adapt their habits and customs. This is how our nation first began its development into a more-developed country and also why a vast majority of our citizens are practioners of the motherland's religion, and why we are a mix of different ethnicities.

"Twanaka was, of course, ruled under the Monarchy of their colonizers, who had little respect for its inhabitants. After a few generations, even those who had come from the colonizer's own land were given lesser treatment than that of normal citizens. They were oppresive and gave us limited freedoms. After a hundred years of colonial rule, a revolution took place, and the citizens of Twanaka were able to win their indepenence, and formed the Democratic Republic of Twanaka.

"For the next 200 years, elected leaders ruled Twanaka, and the nation slowly but surely developed. However, the people became lazy and apathetic, and in the last fifty years, a military coup managed to take place, and the General of the Twankan army became Supreme Dictator, and ruled with an ironfist. The division of classes was extreme, and the whole country was for the most part poor and neglected. For the longest time, no one was able to resist him.

"Finally, voices began to cry out all over the nation "Liberation!" and the unified peoples overthrew the dictatorship, and for the first time in half a century, we have an opportunity to try our hand at Democracy yet again, as the newly founded Republic of Niita. But this time the people are weary of totalitarian government and dictatorships and their motives, and wanted more economic and political freedom than ever before.

"Thus I was elected, and I hope to restore a sense of freedom, justice, and equality to our citizens. They need protection from corruption and malintentions, and I am here to offer them just that. I hope that we can progress and expand as a nation and a culture. We seek technological and educational advancement, but my people are weary of unregulated free trade and unrestrained Capitalism, which they have found to set quite a distinct separation of classes, leaving the rich with much and the poor with little."

I hope that explanation was helpful."

He also went to greet Hugh Applebottom, and after introducing himself, asked, "So, any questions in particular regarding my policies? Or perhaps you wish to discuss possible diplomatic relationships? I'm open to any discussions or questions you may wish to pursue."

A young very tan woman, along with the Queendoms Princess Subaru, both entered.

"Hello" Said the Tan womaan. "I'm Serafina, This is her Highness Princess Subaru, we are represenatives to the Queendom of Aqua Anu."

Subaru spoke out "It's very nice to meet you."

Two delegates from Kanami walked in.

"I'm Yuko Mori, this is my co-delegate Shawn Petrosian, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Happy with the turnout so far, Ace smiled, and greeted the two new arrivals.

"Please tell me if there's anything you need, any requests, or anything my nation can do for you... As I'm a newly elected official of a recently-established government and nation, I'm sure you must have questions. But please feel free to relax if that is your wish. You could have something to eat, or if you're eager to talk politics we can get down to business now."
Mauvasia
16-12-2005, 06:39
"Fuck that, we're rollin'!"

Sylvia Tharn allowed herself a tolerant smile as her private jet descended to the Niitan airport with a not-so-gentle bump. The pretty, yet intelligent Vice-President of Mauvasia watched as her 'entourage', as they insisted on calling themselves, unloaded a long blue car from the back of the plane and helped her into it, guided by the chauffeur, a shady fellow known primarily as Watson. Sylvia shivered for a brief moment, steeling herself for the ride to come.

Watson, with an ejaculation of profanity, drove the colourful vehicle with a crash down the ramp and in wild zigzags across the tarmac, the security guards on motorcycles attempting to keep up. In front of the surprised hosts, the procession rocketed around a corner at 165 km/h, Watson waving cheerfully as Sylvia clutched onto the car in pure terror with the other delegates trying to stay inside.

The car swung and bumped down the roads, blasting aside cars and incoming trucks, and occasionally swerving into the opposite lane for a few moments. After a short and harrowing cross-country trip that resulted in a small portion of the national budget for the next fiscal year being allocated to foreign repairs, the car jangled to a stop in front of the appointed place with a huge crash that would send the rest of the delegates already within running to the windows...

Sylvia steadied herself and got out, looking rather green, followed by the rest of the delegation. The car had taken little damage, miraculously, with Watson swearing loudly out of surprise; the delegation and accompanying security entered the building. Sylvia Tharn greeted the Niitan leader politely enough, still looking a little bit traumatized, her formerly neatly arranged blonde hair in serious disarray.

"Good afternoon... my name is Sylvia Tharn, I am the Vice-President of Mauvasia. You probably have never heard of us... I'd be willing to tell you all about the Imperial Democratic Republic, and I'd be glad to hear in return anything I'd need to know about Niita... but first of all, do you have something to drink? I could really do with some mineral water right now..."
Niita
16-12-2005, 06:48
"Its a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Tharn," said Ace, "And by all means, feel free to help yourself to any food and drink over at the buffet table. As soon as you feel like it, we can discuss history, policy, or whatever else you may like."
Mauvasia
16-12-2005, 07:16
"That sounds good." Sylvia got herself something to drink and was soon back at full power, ready for the mission she had been sent to do. Well, it might not have been a particularly impressive or original mission, but it was a mission nonetheless... and she supposed that was all that mattered...

"I probably ought to explain. Mauvasia is a rather old republic...we were founded as a colony a long time ago, but ruled by oppressive kings and tyrants until the 1800s, when democracy was finally acheived through the Mauvasian Civil War... one of the greatest conflicts of all time, although that's another matter.

"At any rate, we're a large isolationist nation that is just starting to open up to diplomatic relations with other states, so we'd be happy to exchange embassies or trade with you. In addition, we'll help out defensively as much as we can, either through military or economic aid, if necessary. We will have kind of a problem, because the Mauvasian military is just a vast, disorganized morass made up of divisions, armies, and fleets of vastly differing sizes and strengths. But that's one area where we'll help wherever we can...

"As for trade... we have a number of major exports, which we can get into if you want...

"But tell me something about Niita... what are its customs, traditions, and history? Do you value the military highly, or are you a more peace-loving nation?"
Niita
16-12-2005, 07:45
Ace replied to Sylvia, "Well, the Republic of Niita as it exists now is only about a year old, and elections were just held recently, and obviously, I was elected President. We have had a rough history, starting with the colonization of our land by an oppresive Monarchy, a little bit of peaceful Democracy, shattered by a military coup and an evil Dictatorship. Only recently have we finally been able to unite and establish a Democratic Republic. Hopefully, our new government will prove stable to grow and prosper.

"As to the other part of your question, we have various customs and traditions, as any country does. Folk music and dances are very popular amongst our citizens, although there is a large desire for cultural exchange with other nations. Due to this fact, we would be more than happy to exchange embassies with you.

"Militarily, we seek to have a strong enough military and military technology to be able to defend our nation against hostile individuals, groups, and nations, though it is our hope that we rarely, if ever have to use them.

"As far as economic exchange goes, however, my people are weary of the evils that loosely-regulated free markets have caused us, and the social and economic inequities it has brought upon us as well. Therefore our trade is government-regulated, as to ensure that individuals do not become corrupt and overly-wealthy, as to be able to assert power over the masses. However assuming your trade is fair, agreements can be easily arranged. We ourselves pride ourselves in our Bookpublishing and Automotive industries. What about Mauvasia, what sort of goods do you have to offer?"

Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 17:39
Titus nodded. "Interesting stories, but I'm sure ours is a tad more interesting."

He cleared his throat. "You see..." He then took the voice of a serious Narrator. "Thousands of years ago Halisnovski was nothing but a village, a village in a large archipeglago of islands. But as time went by it grew. By about 2500 BC it was a large well functioning city-state while the islands around it were nothing but villages, at most towns. Why was it so developed? Unfortunately we have not been able to find any reason other then the fact that a new religion swept the city when it advanced so much, that's another story though."

He continued. "Around 370 BC we developed imperial ambitions, our soldiers were not too much different from the Greek Hoplite, so we decided to conquer the archipelago. And we did, that last for... a few hundred years. During this time our government was still a Republic, a large Republic but nevertheless a Republic. I can't get into all the details. But then around hmm... 370 AD, yes about 1,000 years, the Empire fell due to internal conflict."

He shrugged. "History after this is really warring city-states, the introduction of Eastern Christianity by missionaries, and really nothing exciting from this period to about... 1400 AD. This was when the plague occured. Entire city-states were wiped out, others left to other city-states, those city-states fell... but we? We quarantined ourselves while the others were left to die. The plague lasted until 1710 AD, three centuries of plague."

A pause. "The cause? Those bleedin' missionaries from Europe. But hey! After that, we started to advance culturally, industrially, and what not. Our own industrial Revolution if you will and the Republic continued strong. Parties were elected in and out until... 1910. That's when the Socialists got power. Oh it was democratically and the people loved them at first. But they drove the economy into the ground and they may have even rigged some elections. But that hasn't been proven. But, what can you do? Then a few months ago Cornelius, our Prime Minister, was elected. He's the Head of the Republican Party, he believes that greed... is good. But still doesn't want to destroy the people of their rights."

He shrugged. "So really, we're a work in progress. Granted I don't even know if our history is accurate but eh, what can you do?"
Niita
16-12-2005, 18:05
"An interesting story... well then I guess the question remains: what sort of diplomatic relations does Halisnovski desire to forge with our Republic?" Ace asked.
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 18:21
Titus responded in sauve, sexy manner. "Well Mr. President, we'd like the usual. Embassy exchanges, trade agreements, and whatnot. We'd also like to invite you to the Conglomerate of Capitalist Entities. We're an organization dedicated to Pure Capitalism. I mean granted your Government is going to have to destroy all restrictions on Corporations to join..."

He cleared his throat. "But it's your choice if you want to. I am not in charge though, the Macabean Emperor, I forgot his name though, is in charge. So you have to contact him."
Mauvasia
16-12-2005, 18:35

Sylvia listened, sipping from a glass of rather excellent wine she had found hiding in a corner along the buffet table. Nowhere near as strong or full-flavored as most Mauvasian wines, but still good. She nodded at the mention of embassies. "We'd be more than happy to exchange embassies as well... we have plenty of empty buildings on Embassy Row in Darmetz, so that wouldn't be an issue, but around here? Would you happen to have any buildings free for a Mauvasian embassy? I'm just asking because if we have to get Mauvasian contractors to build an embassy here, it'll be tied up in government red tape for years and very little would actually get done. I've been trying to convince J- the President to cut back administration funding for months now to make the government a little bit more efficient...

"As for ourselves... we also believe in regulations on trade. Mauvasia is a primarily socialist country, so while private enterprise is legal, there are plenty of restrictions big business has to follow. At any rate, our major exports are timber, crude oil, uranium, iron, bauxite, aluminium, and silicon... I don't know if you could use any of those; you mentioned that you had a strong automotive industry though, and that requires oil. Hmmm... do you export small arms at all? The Mauvasian military is in dire need of them. Or hydrogen-powered or hybrid cars... we've been trying to start a program for a while, but there just aren't any good designs on the Mauvasian market."
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 18:44
Titus intervened. "You need some new designs? Well, I think you should break down some trade barriers. I think the only way you're going to get new designs is by letting other companies around the World offer their designs, or, you could always do it inhouse, Governmentally. Unless you tried that."

He continued. "If anything else, just send a letter to every corporation in the World that you're lookin' for something. Also on the subject of small arms. Halisnovski has a small industry, and we might have something you like."

He raised his left brow inquisitively. "What are you lookin' for?"
Mauvasia
16-12-2005, 18:52
Sylvia glanced at the newcomer. "It looks like you didn't hear what I said," she said somewhat coldly, irritated by his manner for some reason. "Mauvasia has been an isolationist country for quite some time now... we haven't been trading with other nations because we were quite self-sufficient. That is, until our population exploded.

"Also, I sincerely doubt that sending letters to every corporation in the world would help us find a good design for a hybrid car. However, sending letters to all of the automotive corporations in the world might be an idea... As for small arms, we're mostly looking for handguns 16mm and smaller... especially 9mm guns and pistols. We've got a fairly adequate supply of everything else."
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 19:04
Titus rolled his eyes. "Oh dear so specific. You'd be surprised how many multirole corporations exist in this world. Why there's the Schultarians, Hamptonian Defence, Imperial Rose Corporation... wonder what happened to them? My point is, that even though we've been isolationist ourselves, we've been keeping an eye on this world. You probably have too."

He paused. "Now then... hanguns? Never heard of a 16mm, and the Republic has more of a preference for .40 caliber guns. We do have a rifle that is made cheaply, it's of Rosian design though. Ever heard of the IRC?"

(I like to mention my old nation here and there, they did some nice guns ya know.)
Niita
16-12-2005, 19:33
Ace smirked at the small confrontation between his two guests. Trying to lighten the mood up again, he smiled and said to Sylvia:

"Yes, our country would be most greatful for oil. We have designs for hybrid-cars that the automotive industry has been producing on a large level, recently. We could either sell you designs, or we could just sell you the cars and you wouldn't have to worry about producing them. Our scientists are in the process of developing hydrogen-powered fuel cells in order to decrease gas emissions even further, as we treasure the environment. We also seek cultural exchange, and so we are willing to trade articles such as clothing and music as well.

"As for arms, we currently have no military funding as the people have emerged victorious in their revolution against the brutal and militant Dictatorship which has ruled us for the last half-century. Our people our weary of the military right now, and we're currently trying to work out a system to keep them under check before we start funding, so unfortunately we cannot help you there.

"For embassies, we have a cleared space of land where we have been constructing buildings to be used for embassies. While we still have many more buildings to construct, you may feel free to use one of the already completed buildings in order to establish your embassy within our countries. I would be interesting to hear of your arrangements for embassies as well.

"I would be open to any sort of political alliances you may have to offer as well." Ace finished.

Then he turned to Titus and said, "Unfortunately, I'm afraid that my country would be unwilling to remove our checks on our corporations, and so would not qualify to join the Conglomerate. However, we are more than happy to consider other alliances, treaties, or trade agreements you may have... What is the current main focus of your economy?"
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 19:39
Titus' face beamed. "Well, the focus of our economy is to make money, quickly. Therefore we're focusing on three very important things to the global economy. Uranium, cars, and digitial technology. Now granted, you may be thinkin' that the uranium is for offensive purporses, on the contrary. It's for nuclear power plants. Heck, a nuclear powerplant runs the country." He shrugged. "We don't believe in nuclear weapons, waste of money and manpower."

He continued. "As for cars, they're really just imports with few exports that we send, such as the H Yulta. Not that good though, think Pinto. Also, our digital technology is powering everything, owned of course by the H Corporation. So really, I think our most valuable export is Uranium. Want any?"
Mauvasia
16-12-2005, 19:47

"No... never. We were never all too interested in international affairs, so we just didn't pay much attention... you can't really blame me, we had our own problems," Sylvia said. "Unemployment, an imploding economy, discontent... fortunately we've gotten past that age, now..."

[Damn it... I have to leave now. I'll come back later today probably. No time to expand this post quite yet.]
Niita
16-12-2005, 19:47
"Right now, the Republic of Niita has no need for Uranium, especially due to our protection laws for the environment. However, like I have said before, we are open to cultural exchange, so any native goods you could offer, would be eagerly awaited by our peoples. What about embassy exchanges?"

Then he directed a question the both Titus and Sylvia: "Also do either you have any questions about my political policy, or any interest in forming some sort of political alliance with the Republic of Niita?"
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 19:56
Titus thought for a moment. "Hmm... native goods... oh yes I have it. You see, every Halisnovskite has a shield in their house living room, apartment main room, whatever. It's a Hoplon shield, it's round and leathery and it has an insignia, usually the family coat of arms, on it. They're quite common and cheap so..."

He went on. "There's also our music. Due to the fact that we're a city, urban music, rap, has exploded. Artists such as Lil' Ptolemy and Corneli are a hit here. They're national but not international though. They're quite different too, not the usual party hits we get from around the world. Usually it's social commentary or it's a bit tad funny. I enjoy Lil' Ptolemy myself at times. And yes, we would like to get cloer to Niita, but an Alliance is a bit too soon. Maybe you could visit us."
Niita
16-12-2005, 22:09
"I don't think the shields would be of much interest, but perhaps my people might like to listen to your 'Lil' Ptolemy' or 'Corneli'. Our country itself is more focused on Rock music, which was outlawed when the country was under the Dictatorship... and because of that they view it as revolutionary and rebellious, and extremely nationalistic, and so we've had a Rock explosion... Most of it is punk, and has largely to do with social and political commentary. Our artists include national hits like 'The Utopias' and 'M.A.R.X.' Maybe we could start a music exchange.

"Anyway, what are your biggest political concerns at the moment?"
Halisnovski
16-12-2005, 22:40
Titus shrugged. "To be blunt, making money."
Niita
16-12-2005, 23:24
"Well then... did you have any sort of political alliances in mind other than those that are strictly capitalistic?"
Bonstock
16-12-2005, 23:30
Mr. Applebottom greeted President Seiyajin. "Sir, I am the Assistant Chief Deputy Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Bonstock. I have come to ask your nation to sign a mutual trade and non-agression pact with Bonstock.

First among the terms I would like to ask of you would be that Bonstock be allowed to invest in Niitan industries. Also, I would like your government to open up its markets to Bonstocknian products, especially Bonstocknian Information Technology products. Third of all, we would like your government to allow a Bonstocknian military base in your nation, which will serve as a transit point for Bonstocknian forces in the region.

As the other side of the agreement, Bonstock will pay one million US dollars each year for the use of your land as a base, and will also allow Niitan industries to export their products to Bonstock. In addition, Bonstock will provide 50 million US dollars per year to Niita to help the development of your nation, and will send skilled engineers to help build roadways and infrastructure.

If you would sign the agreement, then these measures can be instigated immediately. Thank you."
Niita
16-12-2005, 23:56
Ace greeted Mr. Applebottom with a smile saying,

"Hello Mr. Applebottom, it's a pleasure to meet you. I thank you for the interest you've taken in forging diplomatic relations between our two countries. If you wish, you can have yourself something to eat and drink, but I assume that you would like to get straight to the discussion of diplomacy.

"As you may know, the Republic of Niita advocates Fair Trade, and so all goods that are imported and exported into my nation are required to maintain a certain level of quality, and we have certain regulations against protective domestic tarrifs which often make poor countries lose more money than they gain during trade. We also uphold a standard level of environmental protection and worker's rights, and any product which violates those standards must be refused.

"However, assuming that you have high enough standards for your economy, don't exploit your workers, etc., our nations should have no problems engaging in trade. My country is well-known for its Book publish and Automobile industries.

"As far as military bases go, I, like my people, am weary of the military. We have just undergone a revolution against a cruel Dictatorship which was established after a military coup of the country. As we have no military ourselves at this moment, and are still debating the issue, I am afraid that I cannot allow any military bases to be built on our territory at the moment.

"What about embassy exchange, would that be something that Bonstock would be interested in?"
Bonstock
17-12-2005, 05:36
"Of course a wealthy and powerful nation such as the Federal Republic of Bonstock supports worker's rights and the environment," said Mr. Applebottom. That was, of course, what Bonstocknian propaganda usually said... worker's rights were actually quite poor in Bonstock, and the environment appaling at best, but no matter. Such was necessary to make Bonstock competitive. "We guarantee the products you recieve will be top notch.

"I would like to mention of course that any Bonstocknian military presence would actually be a very small one, limited to a squadron or so of KC-10 air-refueling aircraft. We only need bases for them to extend the range of our other aircraft. There would be no ground troops present at all, save some lightly armed security personnel, unless you can provide better security, in which case none would come at all. If you still have a problem with that, we will be fine to not ask it of you.

"Anyway, an embassy exchange between our two countries seems to be in both of our interests, and should help coordinate trade and travel between our two nations."
Niita
17-12-2005, 07:57
"I apologize, but I'm afraid that the establishment of foreign military bases on our land would be quite impossible at the current moment. As for embassies, the Republic of Niita welcomes you to use one of the buildings in the National Park where you can set up your embassy. One of the most beautiful views and landscapes in the whole country. Less than a mile away is the rainforest and tall, cascading waterfalls for your viewing enjoyment."
Kanami
19-12-2005, 05:36
Now it was Yuko's turn to speak. "Please excuse the Prime Minister, he regrets that he is tied with business, and can not attend. Do you have any questions at all for us? We would be more than happy to answer them."

Ace Seiyajin smiled pleasantly and answered, "The Republic in Niita would be interested in hearing a little bit about your nation's history, its policies and political ideologies, and maybe a little bit of info about youre economy. Assuming everything is in order we would love to engage in trade, cultural exchange, and maybe even embassy exchange between our two countries. Also, any sort of aliances, political or otherwise, would be welcomed."

"Certianlly. We have a rich history to tell."

Kanami is a nation founded upon principals of philosophy, theology, and democracy. A group of various people from countries of the Pacific banded together, with one thing in common. They hated their Governments. Some came from countries with no morals, no principals, others from tyrannical dictatorships, and places of complete anarchy. Many we're in search for a better place, a place of refuge, or fresh and fertile farmland. Under the leadership of a young, but strong and feisty swords girl, name Yasashii Sakura Himura. Her name meaning Gentle, and Cherry Blossoms. Yasashii was orphaned at age five, and was taken in by a master swordsman. From him she learned not only the ways of the sword, but of religion, philosophy, and politics. She came to value the importance of democracy, and what it stands for in the world. Since then she has lived her life trying to improve the world around her. She began to teach others the things she was taught, but the local Government disapproved of this. Since then she was threatened and eventually ambushed, beaten and left for dead. She was nursed back to health by a sympathetic group, who felt the same way as she did, and admired her for her courage to do what was right, even after the government ambushed her. They we're also amazed at her vast knowledge for such a young age of only 16. They voted unanimously to make her leader of the group. Yasashii, reluctently took the position, with great humility and humbleness. When word got out that this new underground committee was teaching non government approved material, they attempted to put a stop to them once and for all. Fearing for the lives of her fellow members, Yasashii ordered a mass evacuation of everyone and anyone apart of the committee, and who wanted to escape tyranny. "It's time to throw off the shackles of oppression. And from our own colony. Run by the people for the people and with the people."-Yasashii Himura Diary Entry. Yasashii stated that to all the people she knew, and to many on the street. Much to great risk. The people selflessly left everything behind, to form a colony in the name of principals. Thousands boarded a ship called the S.S. Oka or Cherry Blossom(s) The journey was long and rough. The Pacific wasn't so pacifistic as it's name so deceivingly meant. Storms battered the ship often, and supplies ran short. "The weather shows no signs of ever changing and we are expending our supplies so sooner than expected, because the weather keeps slowing us down. I pray for land fall soon, even if it is already inhabited. Anything to at least restock out much needed food and water." Journal Entry-Two Weeks At Sea. However no nation wanted a band of rebels, and few we're ever willing to supply the ship. Many navy ships chased them away. Three Weeks and Six Day's into the Journey a brutal storm struck. The ship was tossed around for hours, and many areas of the ship flooded, even Yasashii's own cabin flooded. By morning the storm had finally cleared, and in the distance there was a great mass of land, completely unoccupied. Yasashii was first off the ship and declared: "May this land that we settle upon, be known as Kanami, (Meaning Our Port in the Storm) For the long journey we struggled and tossed and turned on the stormy seas, of life and nature. Here we can form our new Republic. " The first animal spotted on the mainland was a hawk. It was also found that Hawks inhabited the land Amazingly Kanami was also rich in natural resources, the Kanamians we're well educated freely, and we're told how to use the resources properly. "I fell truly blessed by God to have landed on a place so large, and so rich in natural resources. It is amazing that no other nation in the world has ever found this place, and settled it. Just a mass of land, nothing but wild animals vast forests, rich soil, and good solid foundations. The seas around it we're treacherous sure, but still, I'm baffled by it. But still, writing by moonlight of my hopes for the future of this Republic, is a most wonderful feeling." Diary Entry-Fist Night. Carefully Yasashii helped form a constitution, and Government. The Republic continued to live in peace for many years. But the peace would soon come to an end. Other nations began to look upon the tiny republic with envious eyes. It's rich natural resource bank drew the interest of Capitalists, power hungry dictators, kings, queens, emperors, empresses sought to annex the nation for it's own outpost to add to it's roster of control. Eventually one nation marched in. The still fragile Republic, took up arms and fought. Including Yasashii. She fought only with her sword, and wisdom. Hopelessly out numbered, Kanami's Parliament and ideals seemed doomed. Non the less they all fought bravely. Miraculously the enemy was defeated, and driven out. Kanami fearing further invasions, declared it's self independent, and granted the Parliament Democratic powers. Yasashii was the nations first and youngest Prime Minister. She declared: "And this our motto shall be, Unity, Justice, Freedom, Peace for All People." Which has since become a controversial statement amongst the people of the nation and of the world. Some wonder what she actually meant. It was read in her diary, that she meant it literally. "I have chosen our motto, unity, justice, peace, freedom for all people. And it is my wish that my fellow citizens will uphold this. Not just for theme selves, but for all the world as well. City and country folk alike should ban together to uphold the inalienable rights of others. I hope the world shall improve over time, utnill then may Kanami remain free from the scourges of corruption, and may it remain a free republic based on morals and principals of the people. While in a democracy not everyone gets their way, all the time. Everyone should get there way, at least once. God Bless us all. " Kanami would come dangerously close to corruption. While Yasashii was away, to help others who sought the nation, the Parliament fell into corruption. The Vice Prime Minister was granted emergency powers, in the event Yasashii would die on the journey. He seized control of the National Economy, the militia, the navy, and the Parliament. He conspired with several big business of the region, along with the Pacific Communist Party, to turn the resourcefully rich nation, into a Communist-Capitalist Nation, solely of the benefit to the party, and the party's many corporate sponsors. Yasashii got wind of this news and hurried back into Kanami, to confront V.P. Yukito Mako. The two engaged in a now infamous duel known as Himura v. Mako. Yasashii with her superbious sword techniques killed Yukito and restored democratic order to the parliament, and regained control over the Armed Forces. She also enacted a checks and balance system, to asure no party would gain too much power. She also enacted a secret society known as The Order of the Hawk. A special elite group of hand picked people to assure Governmental order and stability. As to who is a member is strictly calcified; not even the Prime Minister or the Cabinet knows. Yasashii would die 16 years later, at age 32, from Shinjiku Syndrome. She was burried with the highest of honors. The people of the nation are forever grateful to Yasashii Himura, and to the others who gave everything for Kanami.

Ace stood in awe listening to the story and history of Kanami.

"That's amazing," he stated, "what a wonderful recounting. Well, I definitely admire your nation's principles and ideas. So then, the question still remains: what sort of diplomatic relations is Kanami interested in?"

(OOC: I'm trying to finish working on a world factbook site for my nation that will have a form for submitting trade agreements, political alliances, and embassy exchanges... hopefully it will allow these sorts of things to be more organized.)

We would like to possilby see you as a potential ally, and trading partner. And we aren't sure if you are up to this, but would it be possible to have an embassy?

We understand you don't have much in the way of military spending, like we said we have a powerful navy and would be happy to offer a defense force. And trade would be nice too.

Ace smiled and told the Kanami delegate, "Our nation would be happy to make a diplomatic alliance between our two nations. What type did you have in mind? Were you interested in an alliance of political ideology or military? Maybe both? We can hammer out the details soon, I'm sure. We would also be happy to establish an embassy within your nation, as well as grant you the ability to establish one in ours. As for trade, I would be very interested in discussing the economic aspects of our countries, and to see what we have to offer one another. The agreements, of course, can be fully drafted and implemented whenever you desire."

Then he turned to the Aqua Anu delegate, and said, "Our nation would be grateful for any military assistance you could provide us. And as I said, our nation is always looking to further our economic relations with other countries, so we would be more than happy to discuss trade agreements. We can hammer out the details as soon as you wish."

(OOC: Do any of you have AIM or MSN? If so maybe you could telegram me your screen names and we could discuss this out-of-character and decide the fine terms of our agreements)

"Well we would be happy to pursue all of these ventures, either separately or together. Were either of you interested in perhaps forming any alliances with each other?"

Assistant Chief Deputy Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Applebottom responded to the Prime Minister. "We would be happy to set up an embassy in your country. Feel free to send an envoy to establish an embassy in the Bonstocknian capital city of Port Yuko. We have plenty of office space in the Diplomatic District that can be used for your embassy."

These all sound likes excellent ideas. I shall send an envoy to establish an embassy as soon as possible in Bonstock, and, after hearing the exact terms of the alliance, may be interested in joining.
