A Dangerous Flame Ignited[MY]
Lieutenant Kritna yawned and shook his right wink awake as he and his Kh'ree soard over the fertile plains that surrounded the Aracoix city of Aven. Today was just a routine patrol; nothing unusual had occured so far. Kritna snorted. It's not like anything ever happened around the Aracoix boarders anyways. The young Lieutenant could not help wondering why his king and queen were not concentrating more on gaining more land for the nation and less on making peace treaties.
Kritna was suddenly yanked from his thoughts as a poorly shot arrow zinged upwards and nearly hit his left wingman. The Lieutenant gazed down to view a small host of green creatures aiming bows to the sky and shouting incoheriently. Goblins. These ones were are poor a shot as any other, but what were they doing here? Aven was only a week's march and a few days flight from here. No matter, thought Kritna. These goblns would pay for intruding on Aracoix land, even if it was accidental.
The goblins numbered about thirty, and these were from no goblin army either. Their bows were of terrible make, and their scimitars and swords especially rusty.
Kritna's Kh'ree numbered twenty fully armed and armored troopers. They were outnumbered, sure, but they had the advantage of flight and the advantage of a poorly armed(And most likely stupid) enemy. The Kh'ree quickly got in formation; half the group loaded their crossbows while the others withdrew heavy spears, scythes, and sabers, preparing for a lighting-quick strike.
"Fire!" Yelled Kritna. The bowmen released their deadly shafts upon goblins, who were still trying to shoot the Aracoix out of the sky, with little success. Each quarrel, aimed with the eyes with the sharpness of an eagle, struck home as ten goblins fell transfixed on the ground. The rest of the Aracoix dove sharply and began to rake the goblins with their spears and swords. The goblins scattered, making themselves easy prey for the Aracoix hunters. When all was over, the plains were stained with dark goblin blood.
The Kh'ree landed.
"We must fly back to Aven as fast as possible and warn the King and Queen of this tresspass," Said Kritna, adressing his unit as he wiped blood off his scythe. "It is possible that there may be some goblin retrabution for what we have done here. We may need to prepare Aven's defences."
As the Kh'ree rose and flew speedily off in the direction of Aven, a solitary figure twitched on the ground. It was a goblin-the last survivor of his now-decesed gang. The creature had a crossbow bolt stuck in his shoulder, but had faked death in order to escape further injury.
The goblin hobbled towards Everbog swamp and Boomtown, to tell his people what had happned....

The Goblin ran as quick as he could to a nearby cave. "Ey boyz we gots usselves birdies!" A growl of joy came from the 40 other Goblins inside. "Its'a time wez gets some friz-ied chikin! They dun killed our boyz and nows they gotsta payz!" The clamored their weapons in approval. The hidden Goblins marched out, each carrying a bow(Flinga) and a spear(Sticka). But soon they wheeled out their secrect weapon: A Spear Chukka.
OOC: Seen here: http://oz.games-workshop.com/games/warhammer/orcs/catalog/images/GoblinSpearChukka_large.gif
IC: It was mounted on a little cart, pulled by two wolves. Inside the cart, 20 spears stood ready to be launched into the heart of any aerial creature. The Goblin Bandit gang quickly threw on their bandannas and ran across the plain. They darted into cover and anything else that could sheild them, staying in a loose formation. Padded armour would defend them against arrows, although as long as they got some gold, they didn't care who died.
The Spear Chukka stayed in the middle, constantly scanning the skies for birdies. The Goblin who fired it, Skeevy, was well trained in it's use. He bragged about once killing a dragon with it in "a very specialz way." This way had earned the Chukka the nickname "Da So-di-mizer." His loading crew as well was very skilled, having at one time served in the army.
After running for about a mile, they located a slightly forested area and set up camp. Well, a fake camp. They would wait for another patrol to come, and then amcush them. The patrol would think them weak, but only the "noobs" had been killed in their assualt. What they would now face was a highly visicious, cut-throat gang full of veterans.

Bump for response
At the Aeire-City of Aven
Kritna breathed heavily as he entered the royal palace; he had demanded to see the King and Queen at once, but had been delayed by the usual customs that the Law demanded. Now, however, he had the full attention of the court.
"What is the matter, Lieutenant?" Cawed Kirtar as his warrior stood before him.
"My Kh'ree was attacked by a small gang of goblins just a day's hard flight away from here. Normally I would think nothing of it, but I have never witnessed Goblins so far into Aracoix boarders. None of my men were injured, and we wiped the bandits out, but it would be wise to increase patrols for a while."
Asmira and Kirtar exchanged glances and nodded.
"Patrols shall be doubled for the next ten weeks. I don't want to see any more goblins even think about entering Aracoix lands," Responded Kirtar.
Asmira nodded. "Many thanks for this information, Lieutenant."
Kritna bowed gracefully and exited the court.

Near the site of the Skermish, Second Patrol
The Aracoix warriors kept a sharp eye as they patrolled the land. This Kh'ree was larger than the last, numbering thirty troopers under the command of a Captian Teros. Teros scanned the surrounding landscape carefully in case there were any more unwanted visitors in the area.
As the Kh'ree passed by a small group of trees, there was a loud yell and the twang of a bow. A spear suddenly lodged itself in one of Teros's troopers, obviously projected with great force. No goblin can throw that high and hard, thought Teros. They must have some sort of seige engine down there!
The Kh'ree quickly got in formation and began firing crossbow bolts as many goblins started to flow out of the trees, firing bows as they moved. Far too few were falling to the crossbows than should be. Teros growled as another two of his men fell with spears sticking out of their bellies.
"Dive!"
Those Aracoix who were not firing crossbows sped downwards with their spears and swords, raking the goblins and finally doing some serious damage. The goblin armor might have been good for bolts, but was as flimsy as paper when an Aracoix spear or saber hit it. The Bastilla, or at least that's what Teros guessed was picking off his men, continued to smash into the Aracoix. Already twelve were dead from either the Bastilla or bows. Teros gave the order to land.
The Aracoix formed a line of spearmen with swordsmen behind and charged forward, Teros leading. The Goblins scattered in several directions, many falling beneath Aracoix blades and javalins. Suddenly, another spear was hurled through the trees, impaling two Aracoix with one shot. Teros burst into the group of trees and caugt sight of the mysterious bastilla that had felled many of his men. He doged the spear that was flung at him and threw his own heavy spear into the heart of the operator; the goblin was skewed in half by the mighty blow.
A dozen goblins suddenly jumped from the trees and surrounded the Aracoix captain. Teros made an attempt to ecape, but could not get through the folige above him. Trees had never hevily favored the Aracoix. Instead, je landed and drew his twin sabers, waiting for the goblins to attack. The rest of the Kh'ree were busy dealing with other harassing goblins.
A goblin finally got to close to Teros and lost his head becuase of it. The rest of the goblins swarmed Teros, who attempted to keep the creatures at bay with his swords. While his swordsmanship was excellant and his blades sharp, he could not fend of that many foes at once. A goblin scimitar found his kneecap, and the five remaining foes that Teros was facing jumped him and bought him down.
At the sight of their captian being felled, the rest of the Kh'ree-now numbering only seven-took to the skies and reatreated, bruised and battered, back to Aven. A good deal of the goblins were dead, but this was one of the first times a group of irregular goblins had gone toe-to-toe with a well orginized Kh'ree and come off better. The remainder of the Kh'ree flew back to give their king the news of what had happened.

OOC: Next time allow me to rp what my troops do, although I like the way you handled them ;) , I was going to use the Sodimizer to lure you to the ground.
IC: "17 boyz ded ain't bad!" The remaining 23 goblins agreed. While it was sad Skeevy was dead(and by sad I mean unlucky) one of the operators would be "da shoota" now. Already another Goblin had volunteered to be the new "loada." The Bandits were gathering as many weapons and gold pices as possible.
As soon as the boyz were equipped with the birdies newer weaponary(now getting rid of their bows for the new found crossbows) arguments began to break out.
"I sez we goes! Da birdies is gonna be back and we ain't got enough boyz!"
"Na na! Wez stayz and for-ti-fizzles dis 'ere patch 'o woodz. Den when deys com back, we shanks em!"
"We hasa go nowz!" Another soon piped in.
"Wez too tired! We ain't no woof ridas! Wez needs res!"
"Letz holla at da new leada! Stanky!" The Loader who now fired the Ballista perked up his ears. Stanky had realized he was the new leader of the gang, and their lives depended on him. He scratched his moustache(think Monopoly guy moustache). Watz I gonna do'z? If he stayed he had the chance for more treasure, but could be wiped out. If they ran for it, the birdies could fly at them from behind and wipe them out. But then he had an idea.
"Listen 'ere! Wez gonna skin one of da birdies. Then carve dis message on his hide: .Company B, we is currently hunting. We be back soon, but enjoy camp. Should be big enough to house youz 70 bandits. Lub Stanky.' Then we grab our stuff and go! When da birdies come back, dey is gonna stay 'ere and wait for da fake 70 bandits. Den we home free!"
The bandits were shocked at how smart Stanky was. "Den letz go!" The chosen bird was the 'captain.' He was skinned easily, the bandits having done this kind of thing before. Stanky himself carved the fake notice in the birds hide, now staked onto a tree. After that, they got their stuff and skedaddled back to the cave.
(OCC:Will do. And do I even want to know what the Sodimizer is?)
A full company-sixty Aracoix warriors-took flight from Aven, fire in their eyes. Men had died. Died from Goblins. And the Aracoix would not stand for it. They were under the command of the brilliant Commander Stork, an Aracoix who had beaten back many goblin attacks before. Not all of these warriors were the regular troopers, either. Twenty of the Aracoix wore bright, green0tinted armor, signalizing that they were part of the Jun'ta, the Elite Aracoix formation that made up the personal bodyguard for Queen Asmira and King Kirtar. They carried huge scythes and special springloaded crossbows that fired five continuous shots, wore thick steel armor, and had the coveted abilaty to pull arrows out of the air.
The compliment of Aracoix flew at breakneck speed to the Ambush site, circling the group of trees cautiously. When it became apparent that there were no goblins around, the company landed and set up a defensive position in the trees. There was nothing here except dead Aracoix and Goblin bodies; the hide of Captian Teros had been nailed to a tree. Commander Stork bowed his head and examined the body; Teros had been an excellant fighter and captian.
As he looked closer at Teros's skin, and noticed something carved grotestley into it. He read it aloud.
"Company B, we is currently hunting. We be back soon, but enjoy camp. Should be big enough to house youz 70 bandits. Lub.....Stanky.":
Stork looked up at his soldiers and thought hard. They couldn't abandon the camp without the possoblity of these bandits coming back, but there would be trouble defending against so many of them. The note could, of course, be a decoy as well. Perhaps an ambush? No, that would be expected. Stork quickly made up his mind.
"I want twenty troopers to scout the surrounding area for any clues of these bandits. Stay in sight of each other and be careful! The rest of us will fortify here."
The Horde Of Doom

OOC: The Sodomizer is the nick name for their dandy little Spear Chukka
IC: Back at the cave, the bandits were busy fortifying their base. The cave was fairly deep, and perfect for the Goblins. To get in the birds would have to get on the ground and enter a world of night. Goblins had much better low light vision, and would blend better. Barricades were built, allowing for 4 rings blocking the way into the heart of the cave. The Bandits, each with crossbow and spear in hand, were ready for a fight.
Traps were being constructed as well. Step one of the 9 pressure traps, and a arrow would hit a bird in the head(But a Goblin was too short to be hit himself). 2 pungi pits had been made as well.
The outside of the cave had been decorated with the old goblin weapons, which would reflect in the sun, drawing the birds in. It would only be a matter of time, and the bandits could wait.
Commander Stork and his company huddled near the cave that was glittering with Goblin weaponry, stratagizing and planning. Stork knew that a full-frontal charge on the goblin fortification would be idiotic; the creatures were sure to have many traps set up inside the cave as well. Goblins, in addition, were great subterrainian fighters. They would need to be drawn out into the open; unfortunetly, this would require some Aracoix to be virtually sacrificed.
Storks's battle plan went as follows:Thirty Aracoix troopers would fake a storm on the cave. If they were lucky, they might even take the cave, but Stork wasn't counting on that. Once casulties exceeded two-thirds, the remaining Aracoix would retreat out of the cave, hopefully bringing the rest of the goblins with them outside. A row of ten spearmen would then charge forward and engage the goblins while the Jun'ta, who would be perched on top of the cave, would jump in from behind and trap the goblins in a meat grinder.
The trap had been set; now, it was time to trigger it. The Jun'ta quitely made their way to the top of the cave, and the Stork and the spearmen concealed themselves inside a patch of bushes.
"Charge!"
The Thirty Aracoix troopers flew upwards, then landed and charged into the cave, not knowing what awaited them...
(OCC:I'll let you take it from here, seeing as I RP'd the last battle.)
The Horde Of Doom

OOC: Why thank you.
IC: The first steps in the cave would hurt. 6 of the 9 pressure traps were located at the front. The Goblins had assumed a larger force would be in first, and so put the "Trigger trap" deeper. When the first trap was hit, the rest would be activated. 7 Aracoix died withen 10 steps. Still they continued on. Before they hit the first ring, a pungi pit was waiting. A small board, goblin size, ran down the center of the pit. Walk on that and your fine. Any where else and the pit gives way. Too bad the Aracoix had big feet. 3 fell victim to the pit, impaled on sharpeaned sticks.
Still they moved on. Luckly Stanky saw them. And thats when they began to sing.
"Ahhhhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhhhhh!
We come from the land of the Blood and water,
>from the midnight sun where the earth is the moon's daughter.
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our kin to new lands,
To fight as a Horde, singing and crying:
Whacker, I am coming!
On we sweep 'a riding boars,
Our only goal will be death to the races of whores!"
The echo boomed at a deafining level through the cave, disorienting the Aracoix and. It was then that they rushed. All 23 fired first with their crossbows and rushed in with their spears, twice as long as themselves. The Aracoix had no real chance. Still, even as they were "shanked" they managed to fell 3 goblins. Now the band of 20 realized something was happeaning. They had a bloodlust they had never felt before. It was the song. They felt stronger, faster, and deadlier. Stanky swung into the chariot of "The Sodomizer" He rasied his fist in the air "For the Horde!"
Even though they were criminals, and would have been sacrificed, they now claimed to fight for the horde. This bond of kinship, and the added boost of the song, drove them out of the cave at full speed. Right about now, they knew they would die. But they had promised themselves they would each bring down two birds before they died. Stanky on Sodomizer promised 4.
Only four Aracoix managed to escape from the cave alive, and three of those were too injured to fight on any longer. Stork growled; he had hoped that more would escape. The ten Aracoix who were hidden on the ground shot their crossbows, then burst forward with their spears, ready to engage. The spears impaled a good percentage of the goblins before the Aracoix switched to swords.
These ten troopers would have probably taken on the goblins fine if it wasn't for the Bastilla, and the fact that these goblins seemed strangely quick for the average bandit. Six of the troopers fell and two were injured before the Jun'ta opened fire with their special springloaded crossbows. Half the remaining goblins were taken out by the hail of arrows.
The Jun'ta holstered their crossbows and drew their massive scythes, dropping down to the ground and charging. The Goblins were quite suprised to see the heavily armored Aracoix move so quickly, more suprised to see them pick crossbow bolts out of midair, and even more suprised when they found that they had been cut in half by the blades of the Jun'ta. They might have been oddly better than most gobins the Aracoix Elite had seen before, but No goblin could stand up to them in battle. The goblins were quicky sliced and diced before only Stanky and the Bastilla wagon.
The wreched creature fired a single bastilla bolt at the Jun'ta and hit one square in the stomach. The Elite fell backwards, dead. The rest of the group howled in rage over it's deceased member and charged forward before Stanky could fire again; they chopped the Chariot and Bastilla into dozens of peices before Commander Stork himself knocked the single remaining goblin out with his long staff. He would be taken to Aven and die a terrible death.
The Aracoix counted their casualties. Twenty Three dead, nine wounded, some seriously. The Aracoix burned the goblin bodies, strapped their own wounded and dead between them, and began flying to Aven. Four Jun'ta carried Stanky with them, who was sure to meet a nasty end...

OCC:WU TANG CLAN!
Stanky woke to find a dozen Aracoix royal guards with their spears at his throat in the Royal Palace. Kirtar stood before him, his eyes angry and reproachful.
"You, Goblin, and your bandits killed my men. And I don't take to that very kindly."
The Aracoix lord gave Stanky a harsh kick to the face.
"Would you be Aracoix, you would have your wings cut off and you would be dropped from the highest point of Aven. Since you have no wings...I guess we'll just have to skip that part. I hope you have a nice fall before you die."
The royal guards quickly swept the screaming Stanky out of the court to throw him from the Mountian. Kirtar turned to face Asmira.
"We suffered far too many casualties in that skermish, Kirtar. Next time I want us to be fully prepared."
Kirtar growled as he took his seat in his chair.
"I know, Asmira, I know. I've already ordered all patrols to be doubled and all troopers to be fully armored and watchful when out on the boarders. I've also doubled our recruiting efforts and asked for more troops from other Aeries. You need not worry. We won't be caught off guard again."
Screaming could be heard outside, abruptly cut off by a dull thud and a squish.
