As Amestria is a Western/Central European Country and Kahanistan is in the Middle East (Palestine), that means the two are quite close, a few hours flight from each other...

Current Economic ties, mutual interests, and Kahanistan's large Ethnic European Population provides a great deal of potential for improved relations...

Kahanistan, do you plan on making a larger, more detailed version of your map?
Kahanistan
29-12-2005, 16:57
At some point. I plan to make a few more cities, too. Somehow 1.2 billion people crammed into four major cities just doesn't seem right. But eventually it's going to be 6 billion people in eight cities, I still haven't figured out what I'll do, Kahanistan's not the kind of nation that goes around invading people because they want their land.

I'll try to make the map bigger, but not too big, somebody edited the NSWiki I had of my new SD because the warship image was too big. I don't want it happening to my nation's NSWiki, too.

Speaking of the SD, I'll probably unveil it in a few days.
Southeastasia
29-12-2005, 17:04
Well, you could grab a few colonies in Hogsweat's region and transplant some of your pop there. And your SD picture is horrible, no offense. Perhaps you should talk to The Freethinkers to do the pic, as he is the creator of the Doujin and did it's picture, if he's free....

Antanjyl: The Kahanistan Republic Guard consists of land and air units.

Yallak: I'd have to be pretty damned desperate, e.g. Blood Feud with AMF, no surrender accepted, most of the country destroyed, before I would consider becoming part of a larger empire.

How does one become allied to Kahanistan, BTW?
Kahanistan
03-01-2006, 12:55
Not really interested in Earths / colonies, sorry.

As for your interest in an alliance, basically the main requirements are a good human rights record and a decent military, I tend to make some really nasty enemies. I'm in a war with Doomingsland, among other nations, over ViZion. And just a few weeks ago I got out of a really nasty conflict with AMF. (Instead of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, I had a half-insane general handle the talks with AMF.:sniper: )

Kahanistan, Chuck Norris, despite being a famous individual, is not one of Kahanistanian descent or possesses Kahanistanian citizenship. So why did you name it after Chuck Norris (it also doesn't exactly sound menacing like most military designations)? Why not name it after the nation (like the Empyrean Society requested to a certain Freethinker Defense Industries, the corporation that started the infamous arms race that is still on today, just at a much more lowered level) or a key figure in the history of your nation?

Most Kahanistanian arms are not indigenous to Kahanistan, but a few are recent Kahanistanian designs, created to counter new threats.

Kahanistanian infantry use Interceptor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interceptor_body_armor) body armor and steel helmets to protect their heads and bodies from enemy fire and grenade shrapnel. Crews of naval vessels in dangerous areas (such as gunners) wear the same armor to protect them when a gun explodes, though its effectiveness in that area is disputed.

They also carry in their rucksacks six to ten MRE's (Meals Rejected by Ethiopians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRE)), enough food to last three to five days in the field. For water, they carry a one-liter canteen, usually filled with water, but some fill theirs with juice, or even alcohol. To supply them with water over the duration of a mission, RO water processors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_osmosis) come as part of the soldier's standard kit. These ROWPU's are also used in civil defense work when Kahanistan's water treatment facilities are damaged or destroyed.

For combat, the average Kahanistanian infantry soldier carries an Israeli TAR-21 or OICW, although the XM-8 is seen in some SF units, and reservists often make do with M-16's or AK-74's. Other weapons in the Kahanistanian infantry arsenal include the M-203 grenade launcher, M-240 heavy machine gun, M-24 sniper rifle, M-224 mortar, and RPG-7V1 rocket launcher.

For very close-quarters combat, such as in trenches or cities, Kahanistanian infantry use bayonets, M-9 Beretta 9mm's, and trench knives. They are fearsome opponents in defensive situations, especially when fighting on their own territory.

Kahanistanian armor has historically used the Israeli Merkava (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkava) series of tanks, and the Merkava IV is still the most common tank in Kahanistan. However, its dismal showing against MassPwnage resulted in Kahanistan developing the Merkava VK, based on the Mk. IV.

Merkava VK MBT
General Characteristics:
Crew: 4
Length: 9.2 m
Width: 4.5 m
Height: 3.3 m
Weight: 115 tons
Armor and Armament:
Armor: Titanium-nickel composite armor + niobium-cobalt modular
Main armament: 1 x 130 mm smoothbore gun, 60 rounds, 20 x BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missile
Secondary armament: 2 x 12.7mm coaxial machine gun, Arena (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arena_(active_countermeasures_system)) anti-missile defense
Mobility:
Power plant: 2,200 HP biodiesel engine
Suspension: Helical spring
Road speed: 53 km/h
Range: 650 km
Other:
Estimated construction cost: $4.6 million USD

The Merkava VK is the successor to the Merkava IV, which has seen action in the CAD conflict and, to a lesser extent, the Freekish invasion of Kahanistan. It disposes of the rear-entry door, favoring a 30 cm clearance above the ground under which soldiers crawl, unlock a manhole-like hatch, enter the tank from the floor, and close and lock the hatch. This makes soldiers escaping a damaged Merkava VK more difficult to spot and shoot than soldiers running out the back of a Merkava IV. The door of the Merkava VK is also less accessible to enemy fire, reducing the weak spot in most conventional modern tanks.

The Merkava VK also introduces the biodiesel engine, one of the first, if not the only, tank to incorporate environmental friendliness with combat usefulness and economical operation. This further serves to ease logistics, as Kahanistan no longer needs to import diesel fuel for its tanks as well as produce biodiesel for civilian vehicles, biodiesel can do it all.

The twin coaxial machine guns enable engagement of enemy infantry both in front of and behind the tank. It incorporates the Arena countermeasure system for defense against enemy missile attacks.

The chassis of the Merkava VK is also planned for use as the platform for numerous Kahanistanian air defenses, artillery, and other offensive weaponry.

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/314/m5kf5nw.jpg
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/6561/m5kb5yr.jpg

The Merkava VK is currently under testing by the Presidential Guards, a unit of 1,500 Republic Guards who protect the President. They also historically test new ground weapons such as tanks, mortars, and infantry equipment.

Current Kahanistanian artillery includes the M109A6 Paladin, the German Panzerhaubitze 2000, and South African G-6 howitzers.

The Kahanistanian Air Force, an arm of the Republic Guard, is more diverse in its equipment than previously. While during the AMF war more than 90% of Kahanistanian warplanes were MiG's, today fewer than 15% are. F-22 Raptors, YF-23 Black Widow II's, C-5 Galaxies, MiG-35's, B-1 Lancers, B-2 Spirits, KC-10 Extenders, E-3 Sentries, and imported Czardaian CZB-9E Hailstorm stealth bombers are the current main aircraft of the Republic Guard.

Kahanistan

No, I wasn't planning on it, you seemed to think it was feasible. I only go to the Draftroom if I'm worried a design will get me accused of g****ding.

Kahanistan has recently begun production of an air superiority fighter designed specifically to tackle CAD and AMF forces in the air, where they performed below expectations against the Pwnage Air Force.

Design

The F-1 Masada air superiority fighter is the Republic Guard's answer to overwhelming power in the air. Its substantial missile capacity enables it to perform SEAD and DEAD as well as successfully engage enemy forces, and its VTOL capacity allows it to react to attacks which would trap CTOL fighters on the ground, helplessly awaiting destruction.

Armaments

The F-1 carries a Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-30-1 autocannon and 1,000 tungsten rounds. However, the majority of its offensive power is derived from its missile loadout, much of which is contained in what was originally intended to be a bomb bay. While capable of carrying 20 missiles of various types, it is unusual for the Masada to carry more than 10 on a conventional mission, as more compromises the stealth and maneuverability of the warplane.

A typical layout for a strike mission consists of two ALARM's, four Tomahawks, two Meteors, and two Sicarius missiles, a Kahanistanian indigenous cruise missile smaller than the Tomahawk but with much longer range and accuracy, generally used for strike missions in populated areas.

Propulsion

The Masada uses a Rolls-Royce lift system, the same as used on the JSF. However, instead of the single turbofan used in the JSF, it uses two Lyulka AL-41F afterburning turbofans.

The choice of engine allows the F-1 the superior speed of the Mikoyan Project 1.44, as opposed to the JSF's Mach 1.6. The fuel tanks are coated with flame-retardant foam, as is the entire cockpit to prevent immediate destruction in the event of a round penetrating the fuel tank, thereby allowing the pilot to eject.

Electronics

The electronics of the F-1 are little removed from the electronics of the F-35 it replaces, combining the integrated off-board and on-board sensor fusion of the JSF with the B-2's APQ-181 radar, which enables it to correct GPS errors sometimes made during navigation or while firing missiles.

General information - F-1 Masada ASF
Crew: 1 (pilot)

Powerplant: Rolls-Royce lift system x1, Lyulka AL-41F turbofan x 2
Maximum speed: Mach 2.3 (redline), Mach 3.2 (absolute)
Range: 4,500 km
Ceiling: 21,000 m
Defenses: Chaff, flares, reinforced carbon carbon, fiberglass-coated twin fuel tanks
Avionics: AESA radar, GPS for navigation and missile guidance
Weapons: 1 x 30mm Gryazev-Shipunov autocannon, 1,000 tungsten penetrator rounds, 10-20 of various missiles held internally
Cost of production: 31 million USD
Export cost: 53 million USD

This is the first indigenously designed aircraft for the Kahanistanian Air Force. Other warplanes in service include the F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, F-35, MiG-31, MiG-35, Mikoyan Project 1.44, Su-47, Tu-160, B-1, and B-2.

So Amestrians would no longer be a primary source of Kahanistan's international student enrollment.
Meaning that they will miss out on the opportunity to study such political masterpieces as On the Amestrians and their Lies... :)

On a somewhat related note, I should point out, Kahanistan, that the Xirniumite Foreign Ministry has maintained a permanent travel advisory warning against travel to the Democratic Soviet Republic ever since the Freekish invasion, particularly in light of subsequent invasions by other nations, frequent unrest and rioting, not infrequent lawlessness and a propensity for breakdown of order.
Kahanistan
16-06-2006, 05:29
So I take it not too many Xirniumites would be filling the ranks of Kahanistan's vast university enrollment lists, then...

Well, since the Freekish invasion I've only been invaded twice, by MassPwnage and later by Kraven, neither of which is particularly friendly to Xirnium, either, from what I can tell.

Rioting is hardly frequent, Kahanistan hasn't had major riots since the beginning of the calendar year. During the post-AMF rebuilding there was general looting and raping, but that's to be expected after that kind of social upheaval.

Also, Xirniumites have never been the target of widespread hatred in Kahanistan since the D.S.R.K. joined the forces fighting against Kraven in Xirnium.

BTW, my crime rate is still rated as "crippling" and I have an insane education budget (over 1/4 of total spending) and have been feeding the Law and Order budget a steady diet of ever-increasing funds for months. (It's nearly 10% of spending.)

As for the "political masterpiece," the publishers export it to any country they can.

There are local dialects within Isselmere-Nieland, the most prominent being Anguistian (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Anguistian_language) and Nielandic (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Nielander_language). You have a point, though rioting was frequent if short-lived during the Najaster uprising, and that was not so long ago from certain people’s perspectives. More importantly, though, I suspect the Xirniumite government simply does not feel that any significant reforms have been undertaken to rule out the possibility of such civil unrest in the future. Are they wrong?

Also, Xirniumites have never been the target of widespread hatred in Kahanistan
I should hope not :) , that would be rather alarming…

BTW, my crime rate is still rated as "crippling" and I have an insane education budget (over 1/4 of total spending) and have been feeding the Law and Order budget a steady diet of ever-increasing funds for months. (It's nearly 10% of spending.)
ICly, though, budget is not the only consideration. Setting aside cultural and social factors, one must also consider the issue of laws (for example, as I understand, anyone in Kahanistan may own military-grade firearms, even foreign nationals, with little to no regulation, and at least one transnational, CBBC, has established its own private army – sorry, “security force”), the way that order is enforced (massive public demonstrations are allowed to form in Kahanistan with sometimes insufficient police supervision), etc.

From the Xirniumite government perspective, the Kahanistanian authorities seem rather blasé about law and order (perhaps their opinion is unfair, though).

Isselmere himself has stated that "Isselmere-Nielander English sounds like Scottish English spoken with an Icelandic accent. In other words, imagine Björk speaking like a Glaswegian, or vice versa, really.
On an entirely unrelated note, I imagine Xirniumite English to sound like British English spoken with a elements of a vaguely (but distinct) continental European accent.

Sorry for that pointless tangent, Kahanistan.

[OOC: Kahanistan, in speaking of the UKIN, are you planning on easening the bureaucracy when travelling for their people when they travel to the DSRK by adding them to the "Nations Not Requiring Visas or Special Documents" List?]

Maybe at some point, like if I get MFN or MTN status, the DSRK might reciprocate by allowing them to cross borders more freely. The overall Kahanistanian view of the UKIN is fairly positive.
