Krendakov

OOC: This is an MT RP, it is open for Hallad and Sarzonia. If you want to join, TG me and we'll see.

IC:
The morning was silent and calm in Krendakov’s capital, Ekaterina. The scene gave no hint of what was to come; it seemed it would be a normal day in Krendakov. The streets lay quiet, and a few cars containing mainly government officials made their way to the governmental offices. Seventy kilometres away, tanks and A.P.C.s started up their engines, preparing to leave the military base they were in. They drove out to the motorway that ran to Ekaterina and started their long drive to the city.

People in the suburbs of Ekaterina were awakened by the rumbling of tanks moving into the city an hour later. Rather than the usual flag with a yellow star, these units flew a flag with a red hammer and sickle on it. Many people watched out their windows or stood in their front door. The tanks continued into Ekaterina, on the look out for forces opposing them; there were none. They drew nearer to the centre of the city, towards their target – the government offices.

A debate raged in the governmental offices. Presidant Ognevlevna† was in a fierce argument with the leader of the Krendian Reactionary Party. At that moment an explosion ripped through the wall. The tanks had reached their target. Several soldiers entered the room and evacuated the shocked officials to the roof where several transport helicopters waited to help them flee. On the roof, several soldiers armed with anti-tank weaponry were at the edge, firing at the tanks that were trying to destroy the government building. One of them fired off a missile; it flew straight at its target and exploded on impact. The tank was ripped apart.

The officials now understood their situation better, after having gotten over their initial shock. They quickly made their way to the helicopter they were assigned to. The government had already set up plans for an attack of this nature, but this attack had surprised them: they had thought that all military units in two-hundred kilometres were loyal to them. The last person to get aboard the helicopters was the president herself. As the helicopters took off she looked out the back at the receding building that was the centre of free Krendakov. “And thus ends freedom…” she sighed to herself.

† – I think I get how the ending for females work, though if I’m wrong, tell me.

Reports flowed into the Commissariat of Diplomacy and its many departments frequently, in fact, nigh on constantly. Most were handled by low ranking Commissars, Junior Commissars, or just ordinary Commissariat workers. Very rarely did an event go all the way up to the People's Commissar, or beyond him to the Premier and People's Spokesperson. Naturally, the events unfolding in Krendakov were no exception. Reviewing the situation were a small panel of workers, who were to collaborate on writing a report. The assesed the situation as a minor inconvieniance, and that the true repurcussions were yet to be seen. No change to policy or relations with Krendakov was forseen. Even so, it was the end of democracy, or so it seemed. The Halladi Workers Republic was supposed to be pro-Democracy in all nations, but the more centralized areas, namely Old Hallad and the Homeworld, had been slipping closer and closer to dictatorship with the rise of new parties like the Militant Socialist Party. But, that was all internal. The document was compiled, sent in, reviewed, and archieved. The embassy in Krendakov was told to be on guard, in case of hostility, and the Commissariat of Diplomacy put the red dot on Krendakov†.

† - to "put the red dot" on something is a Halladi term for "keeping an eye on" something. It is a referance from the early Halladi nuclear developments, in which in the event of a nuclear strike, targets were market with small red lights on a tactical map.

Jamie Stone was entering her final days as Sarzonia's intelligence chief hoping she would end her career as the most successful chief in Sarzonia's history. She was trying to see if she could "out" those in her office she suspected were planning a surprise going away party.

She saw some whispering going on and decided to see if she could forcibly out the plot, walking slowly up to a position behind the speaker. However, when she started listening in, she realised this was a real problem they were discussing and it had nothing to do with her departure from the office.

"Oh, Chief, we're waiting on an intel briefing from Krendakov," Craig Daniels, her successor, said.

"Krendakov? Aren't they having internal strife right now?"

"To say the least," Daniels said.

"Their government is in retreat."

"Let me look at it," she said. "Contact Vice President Newman. We need to get the military involved."

"Already on it Jame," Daniels said. "We're going to offer asylum if they ask for it. Hopefully, the rebels won't see fit to attack us."

"Good work. I'm glad you're getting this job after me," Stone said. She looked out the window, realising that just because she was leaving the office, the work was never completely done.
