General
Name: Novgorod Feudal Republic
Capital: Novgorod
Ruler: The Ruling Council (Veche)
Religion: Eastern Orthodox, some Pagans
General: Once a part of the massive Kievan Princedom, a Council of Merchants and Boyars formed the Feudal Republic. The Veche is the ruling council. It is run by the Aristocracy and wealthy merchants of the City. Fearful of Swedish agression, Kievan revenge, German expansionism, and Tartar raids, the Veche is looking out most of all for the survival of this new state.
Diplomacy
None
Military
Stats:
3000 Boyar Cavalry (professional cavalry armed with bows and swords)
2000 Town Watch (infantry armed with pikes and bows)
5000 Peasants (weak infantry armed with short spears)
General: Boyars act as knights, supplying armed peasants and well trained Horse riders. Town Watch are part-time guards who protect the towns from invasion. Mercenaries from the surrounding areas are also not uncommon.
(OOC: just to let you know in RL Novgorod didn't gain independance until 1136, but it's entirely possible that you managed to fight your way out of Anarachic Kiev, but now i'll have to kick your ass :P)
(OOC: just kidding, or am I?)

OOC: I knew that. I saw you were in Anarchy so I figured I would speed things up. Basically, I'm just RPing that the Boyars and Merchants in Novgorod said, "screw this" to the Prince and made their own state. It's a good time too because the Norse are busy killing each other, the HRE has gone mad, and you are in Anarchy :)
However, I would be willing to assist one of the three parties...
IC: Yuri Kerensky sighed as he looked at the paper in front of him. The Veche had just given him the duty of gaining recognition. The Republic had come out of the ashes of Kiev's War, and must grow into a blossoming flower. His job was to ensure that that flower would look beautiful to its neighbors so it would not be trampled on.
He was given an escort of 40 Boyar Companions, a hornblower and a banner carrier so that he would look official. He was to go to Poland, the Scandinavian states, Constantinople, the Pope and most importantly to the three clans in Kiev to ensure that the motherland would recognize him. He was authorized to form alliances with the Norse and one of the Kievans, and was ordered to cement something with the first and second Romes.
Message From Prince Yaropolk II
To the Veche of Novgorod,
On this date the Clan of Yaropolk officially recognises the Republic of Novgorod, I hope that in freeing yourself of the traditional Princedom that you have bought your clan some extra time in stability, we would also like to extend the olive branch of peace to our former cousins, would you agree to an alliance?
Prince Yaropolk II
Message From Yuroslav II, the Pious
To the Veche of Novgorod
I am pleasured to see that you have retained the classical beliefs in Orthodox christianity, I would hate for you to become another of the Popes puppets, I also understand that you still have some of the Pagan faith amongst your community, rid yourself of them now before they do to you what they have done Norway.
Prince Yuroslav II, the Pious
Message From Potlov the Fierce
To the Veche of Novgorod
The need to ask why you have turned tail against your cousins is drilling into my mind, can you not see that I, Potlov, am the true ruler of both Kiev and Novgorod, we will not recognise your tretcherous Republic nor will we grant any further diplomatic engagements.

Dear Council,
The people of Poland would not only accept your peace treaty, but would be enthralled to start an alliance between the two of our great nations. Moreover, the Kingdom of Poland would official like to recognise your people as a nation. I would also like to tell the council that i have sent 4,000 troops to Prince Yaropolk II of Kiev to help him with his civil war. The Prince and I would be very greatful if you would send some soldiers to help in the rise of Prince Yaropolk II to power in Kiev.
Sincerly, Ladislaus Herman
