The Barbarian Plague [MT][Verdesia]

OoC:
Before I start, I'll give you some background info about Kappelia. Kappelia was unknown to the world, untill about 100 years before this roleplay. It was discovered, and settled, by a team of German explorers, led by Viktor Kappel. The government was originally meant to be a constitutional republic, much like the US, but was quickly corrupted. It is now no more than a monarchy. It is currently led by Premier Minister, Lukas Kappel. The thing that makes Kappelia unique, is that it's population is made up, for the most part, of Barbaric War-Tribes, weilding soviet-era weaponry. Before, the tribes have been too divided to be a threat-They constantly fought each other over land- But, recently it seems a figure calling himself only "The General" has united the tribes into one large military force. This force is now assaulting the capital- and only- city, Kaplinarch.

Great leaders of the world, Kappelia begs for your help. Our capital is beseiged by the barbarian war-tribes that plague our land. Soldiers, and innocents, die every day. I fear, that without assistance, Kappelia will be wiped out, and returned to it's previous savage state. Please, I beg you, leaders of the world. Assist us in this time of need.
Premier Minister, Lukas Kappel

We would be happy to help. We are preparing now.
At the Acre airbase right outside the Capitol city, an entire wing of carrier planes fired up their jets and took off. Fighter escorts also took off. Along with that, was a strange airplane that didnt have any windows on it what-so-ever, and had atleast 150 fighters guarding it. The Holy Roman Emperor Himself boarded this plane, and took off with his escort.
Later....
The Planes circled over Kaplinarch, dropping their paratroopers, and the heavily guarded plane landed in a clearing out in the wilderness, and suddenly, an army appeared being led by The Holy Roman Emperor. The two forces merged and breached Kaplinarch, killing every barbarian they ran into. They met with Lukas Kappel, who was in the capitol building.
The Selesnyans

OOC: That's kind of funny. Despite its presence in the modern world, Selesnya was isolated for so long it's still running on pre-gunpowder technology. Perhaps it could be argued we're on the same (until recently) isolated continent, but Selesnya was too unified and structured to be overtaken by foreign influence.
IC:
Three members of the Chorus, which currently counted at seven members, looked out over the horizon at the edge of their forest city to see smoke. Just as they had predicted, the arrival of the modern world had brought bloodshed and suffering to all it touched. The three turned to the other four members of the Chorus, and spoke as one.
"War has come to the savage land now called Kappelia. The outsiders are now reaping the seeds of rebellion that their corruption has sown."
Next, all seven spoke as one, prompting the present courier to document their words.
"The Conclave of Selesnya will not let innocents die to the corruption and savagry of Kappelia. Send three hawks, in case one is killed by the savages, with word to Kappelia that we will aid them if any converts are allowed to emigrate to Selesnya."
The courier nodded as he pulled away the thin parchment, with a copy beneath. Four more pieces bore copies of the Chorus' words, and were distributed to other couriers so that word would transverse Selesnya as quickly as possible. Although the enemy had guns, the Phalanxs had shields that could stop bullets and the Sagittars had training to shoot their foe down with an arrow before they could fire a bullet. Selesnya was ready for this war.

OoC: Selesnya, eh? Ravnica? You'll know what I mean by that if you got it out of what I think you did. xD. Ah, yes. Hawks, conclaves. We have another MTG geek, like me. :o Heh, I just saw you're flag.

(How? Because I landed Paratroopers and the small compliment of troops in the Emperors personal plane?)OOC:
1. Your planes got to Kaplinarch untouched. There's a reason I sent three hawks instead of one.
2. Army out of nowhere transported instantly.
3. Implied automatic killing of all enemies without taking casualties.
4. Controlling the current location of Kappel.
Four transgressions. If you were in Selesnya, that would get you a public repetence after a year's reeducation.
IC:
"Still no word from Kappelia. Send two more hawks, same message, with the addition that the first hawks may have been killed by the savages."
The courier nodded, wrote down the previous message, and sent out the copies.

The letter was redirected to the Bureau of Defence, where the cogs of the Buechorian war machine began to roll. Soldiers drilled and armed for combat as the higher ups analyzed the maps and information.
It was decided aerial insertion was the best choice for the small team. An Mi-17 helicopter refitted for long range transport was readied at a small military base near Vogelsang, the scouts armed with their M2 Mk.3 carbines and tan uniforms with kevlar and Y-strap. Fairly light equipment for what they deemed a fairy simple recon mission.
After several hours of travel, the Mi-17 crossed over the border of the city and hovered slowly over the barren ground, a thick cloud of dust consuming the vehicle as it landed, the rotors slowling to a stop. The five soldiers stepped outside of the rear door, rolling out behind them a UAZ.
"I hope there's a greeting party. This bird needs fuel." The leader of the group pulled out a pair of binoculars and scanned the horizon. In the distance, the capital was in view. Lowering them, he spoke with another member, who stepped inside of the helicopter, then exited, a flare gun in hand. The leader took it and raised it to a 45 degree angle, firing it, a red smoke trail following it until it reached it's peak, exploding in a bright flash. They prayed they wouldn't have to leave the helicopter alone and haul the pilots with them.

When the hawk arrived, Lukas Kappel was pacing his office, on his gigantic rug. His mohagany desk stood before him, and on either side of it, hung a large Kappelian flag. Everything is going as planned...Two armed guards stood at the doorway, and two more stood on the balcony. It was they, who discovered the bird.
"Mr. Minister, there appears to be some kind of messenger here."
Lukas looked up, staring at the magestic bird. It seemed to have a scroll attached to it's leg. "Let me read it."
He scanned over the letter, and pressed a button on his desk, summoning his secretary.
"Reply to this. Tell them that any help will be appreciated."
"Yes sir."
Lukas began to pace again.
Yes, everything is going as planned.

Jonas had lived in this desert all his life, and as such, he could remain unseen for hours in it. The General himself had handpicked him for this task, and he was swelling with pride. He didn't notice the helicopter at first. He was deeply in thought, about everything that was happening. The flare brought him back to conciousness though, illuminating the night sky, like a rocket. He placed the scope of the RPG-7 to his eye. He carefully aimed at his target, and pulled the trigger. The scope punched into his eye. Damn it these things have a lot of kick. He didn't even get to see the rocket hit the Mi-17, utterly destroying it.

Only two hawks returned between the two groups, one of them bearing a reply. The Chorus listened as the courier read it aloud to them, then nodded.
"We are fighting savages with guns. They will be used to the land, exploit it against the Phalanxs to get around their shields. Send the Sagittars to spread the seeds of the Conclave."
The courier nodded and ran out to his counterpart with three horns. "Just the Sagittars for this battle."
Lifting a horn with the symbol of an arrow with a leaf for a head on it, the courier blew a long, slow note with a constant pitch. Throughout the city, the reveille was met with the same pitch and the clambering of archers from their homes in full combat attire. Soon, the streets were filled with archers in chainmail under green vests.
The original courier blew the signal again, and the Sagittars began marching in the direction of where the Chorus was assembled. The seven filed out to met the warriors of the Conclave. Four were white, one was black, one was hispanic, and one was an elf. The elf, hispanic, and one of the whites were female. However, they all shared the same mindset due to their rigorous study of Selesnyan doctrine.
"Warriors of the Conclave, you have been summoned to fight a foe who lives as you have been trained. As we had feared, the presence of outsiders has brought bloodshed to Kappelia. You are to march forth and bring peace to the land, and spread the word of the Conclave. Scatter like seeds to the wind, and soar to Kaplinarch with the swiftness of an Equenaut's stallion. Be a beacon for Kappelia that will guide them to the light of the Conclave."
The Sagittars saluted and spoke as one. They were not so trained that they spoke as one constantly, but they knew simple call and response.
"We are many, yet one. We are seperate in body, yet act with a single cause. We are of the Conclave, and shall protect its people and its cause."
"Go forth, and protect the cause of the Conclave from the chaos and death of Kappelia."
The Sagittars saluted again and began marching. As soon as an individual soldier left the forest city limits, they began sprinting across the valley toward Kappelia.

The time had passed slowly as the soldiers waited and waited, passing the time by playing a game of cards under the light of a lantern. Suddenly, the screech of the missile hit their ears, and they dashed away, falling as the force of the explosion hit their backs. Turning over, the looked at the resulting damage; the UAZ appeared fine, however, the same could not be said about the helicopter, which was a twisted hunk of flaming metal, lighting up the surrounding area.
In the distance, the men could see the illuminated culprit, who they raised their weapons to and approached quickly, exclaiming to raise his arms over his head in several different languages.

Jonas cursed. As he feared, he had been seen. He would not be captured. He jumped to the ground, running, as fast as he could. It was not enough. One of the soldiers bullets caught him in the leg, and the force of the shot put him face down in the sand. The men surrounded him, keeping their weapons aimed at his head.

One of the soldiers raised his rifle as the man began to ran, and fired low, hitting his leg as he had hoped. The group ran up towards him, keeping their weapons aimed at him in case he had any funny ideas.
"Get on your knees." Erik, the Obergefreiter, ordered as he gestured for the other men to stand down. "You," He pointed to one, who nodded, "go grab the UAZ and bring it over here. We're heading into the capital with this guy." Soon the jeep parked by them, the men getting inside. Erik and another soldier grabbed the prisoner under his arms and dragged him over.

Not far into Kappelia, the lead unit of Sagittars spotted a camp of rebels. Soon, five other units were around the camp, with the rest of the Sagittars moving on to other targets.
There was one guard on duty, but quickly surrendered when he saw he was outnumbered eighteen to one. His hands were soon bound, along with his mouth.
The Sagittars move into position around the camp, each picking a target. They have them outnumbered by a single warrior, including the sentinel, so one of the Sagittars walks forward holding cords with which to bind the hands of the rebels.
"We are of Selesnya. We have you surrounded and can kill you all at a moment's notice. Surrender now, and live. Fight, and be slaughtered."
Before any of the attackers can reply, another Sagittar walks forward with an ax to the neck of the sentinel his hands are still bound, but not his mouth. "The Selesnyan isn't bluffing. They have a sniper for each of us."

Plus, im not talking about large groups, I mean Barbarians who were a bit off course, and we DID take casualties, but you people here somehow require I post every aspect, including the numbers of my military. Controlling Kappel? WTF are you talking about?)

The gates of the city scraped the ground as they opened. Two armored Unimog trucks rolled out of the city. Each featured two MG3's.
They had seen the flare an hour ago, but it had taken quite awhile to find a squad that wasn't currently engaged in combat. After five minutes of rolling dunes, they reached the UAZ. Sergeant Delven stepped out of the truck, and approached the Scout Team.

The vehicle was about to begin it's trek towards the capital when the headlights of the Kappelian Unimog's alerted them. They quickly exited, one of them remaining in the vehicle with Jonas.
Eric approached Delven and saluted briefly before inroducing himself.

After some shared glances, the savage rebels lower their weapons and put their hands behind their heads. The Sagittar with the rope walks forward, binding their hands behind their backs one by one. The apparent leader, the one with the most scars, speaks up.
"What are you going to do to us?"
"That depends on your decision. If you agree to reeducation in Selesnya, you walk away clean and get a civil and confortable life. If you refuse, you will be turned over to the Kappelian government, and will most likely be punished severely or executed for treason."
The foliage around the camp shuffled after the last rebel was bound, signifying that some of the Sagittars were leaving. The remaining Sagittars, seven, join the other two in the open, bows ready.
"How much time do we have to consider?"
"It is currently mid afternoon. You have until sundown."
Elsewhere...
It was the same tactic as before. Circulate around the rebel camp until they were outnumbered, then strike them down. However, there was a minor problem this time around.
This time, the watchman was willing to die for his cause.
Arrows flew into the camp, aimed primarily to wound and prevent fighting. Some got their guns and fired volleys all about in panic only to be killed. A Sagittar fell from the brush with a bullet wound in her neck, followed by two more. However, no more fell before the camp had been neutralized.
After a quick look about, the Sagittars found that only six of the original twenty rebels had died. There were two with potentially fatal wounds, already willing to surrender. The others seemed ready to accept whatever terms neccesary for medical attention as well.

Erik nodded, then turned to his men, jerking a thumb toward the UAZ. "Back inside, boys. We're heading out." The men hopped back inside, the driver starting the vehicle and pulling in between the Unimogs, following them to the capital. They prayed the journey would be safe.
Supreme Chancellor Avalancy had just gotten off the phone with Master Combatant Ferguson. He was to take his task force and board a helicopter transport bound for Kappelia within the next hour.
