The Empire of the Abyssian Legion has ended the testing phase of the Longbow interceptor, and released this information to the public:

“The Longbow interceptor (http://img458.imageshack.us/img458/60/longbow8ez.png) is a fast, maneuverable fighter designed for responding quickly to an attack or hostile situation. It is armed with a rotating mirrored energy cannon. The cannon has a firing radius of 120 degrees: 60 degrees above the interceptor and 60 degrees below it. The Longbow has a wingspan of 10.9 meters. Due to it’s range, the Longbow is currently only used as a defensive ship for operations in and around the Rundocian system until a ship capable of carrying them further distances is finished. The Longbow has a smooth, mirrored surface that is designed to reduce the damage of energy weapons. The Longbow is currently equipped with rather weak shielding. We currently have 200 interceptors, with over a thousand more being constructed.

“The Longbow is the first spacecraft to be acquired by the Imperial Navy. The Emperor has decreed that all space vessels in the Imperial Navy are to make up the new Imperial Armada. The Longbow is the first of three ships we are currently planning on releasing in the coming weeks.”

Another fighter has just been inducted into the Imperial Armada. The 13.5 meter long Ballista (http://img488.imageshack.us/img488/7344/triship4oh.png) fighter has three rotating mirrored energy cannons, which allow it to fire behind itself as well as in front of itself. Like the Longbow, the Ballista has a reflective surface for reduced damage from energy weapons. The combat wings of the Ballista can fold back to allow for landing and easier storage. There is a hyperdrive on the ship that takes up the large area behind the cockpit. This gives the Ballista a greater range than the Longbow, and makes it more useful for operations far away from the Rundocian system. The hyperdrive, unfortunately, leaves the Ballista with no room for any kind of shielding, and the Ballista is also slower than the Longbow. The power of the Ballista, along with its hyperdrive, make the Imperial Armada much more versatile. Production of the Ballista has begun, with five hundred expected to be produced in the coming weeks.
