the Kingdom of Castile wishes to create a Non Agression Pact between our two nations to ensure that no hostilities arise between the rightful rulers of Spain and the Emirate of Tunisia.

The Royal Palace, Mahdia

Abu Tahir Tamim ibn al-Muizz, Emir of Tunisia, walked on the balcony with his advisor. The balcony was acutally more of a hallway with a missing wall, instead replaced by pillars and thin sheets of silk, which kept out, on a very rare occasion, rain.

"Have we recieved a reply from King Alfonso, yet?" Emir Tamim asked his advisor.

"No, my Emir,"

The advisor was an old man with graying hair, which would have been visible had he not been wearing a turban. He had a constant air of a man about to fall asleep, which isn't all that odd considering he had lead a full, busy life. First advisor to Tamim's father, then teacher to Tamim, and finally, Tamim's advisor.

Tamim walked over to the edge of the balcony, followed by the advisor. He pushed aside the draped silk sheets and stared down at Mahdia. The city was dead as the searing midday sun glared down from the heavens. Most had retreated into their homes to rest through the heat.

"The people are both saddened and angered by what is happening in Spain." the advisor said, "The Christians think so much of themselves that they think they can go anywhere and tell any people how to live. They may try to convert our fellows in Spain. King Alfonso may make them memorize every last page of the Bible, word for word, but, in their hearts, they will still be Muslims, and thats where the Christians fail to understand. They are fools to believe they can force anyone to believe anything. We can only hope King Alfonso will realize this and send them here instead of converting them."

"Have we made the proper preperations?"

"Yes, my Emir. We have tents ready for the refugees and a large sections planned for new homes in several cities,"

"The people arriving from Spain will shaken. I want something to be here for them to reaffirm their faith. If not for them, then for my own people."

"My Emir?"

"Get me my architect. I will need him,"

"Yes, Emir," the advisor bowed and departed.

A later that day, the cheif architect of Mahdia began designing and planning a new and glorious mosque that was to be built in the name of Allah, and for all muslims everywhere...

OOC: Construction of the Mahdia Mosque will take about 3 years to build (5 days left).

I thank you for your graciousness and hope that this peace will last for eternity.

OOC: actually Alfonso is sympathetic to the Moslems and likes them...under his reign they didnt try to convert them and allowed them to be Moslem. I intend to extend that. sorry for the short answer but its bed time...

We greet our neighbur!
Since the European non-belivers are growing in strenght (wich is still nothing compare to the might of the true belivers), we would like to suggest an alliance, that all world would fear. The influence of our Empires and of the true faith will spread, and the whole wourld will know the goodnes of Islam!

Sultan Sulejman I.

The Emir would be most pleased to join in an alliance with a fellow Islamic nation.

I thank you for your graciousness and hope that this peace will last for eternity.

The Emir is pleased to know that you will not convert Allah's faithful in Spain, and allow them to continue to practice the true faith, Islam. He too hopes for lasting peace between our two peoples.

We were most pleased when we heard that you signed our alliance and non-agresion contracts. Not that our alliance secures our West border, we will spread Islam all over Middle east and the Bizantium empire!

The emissary stumbled into the brightly lit room, pausing swiftly to make himself presentable. The throne room of the Emir of Tunisia was a a wonder to behold, adorned with the finest artwork supported by excellent Moorish architecture.

The emissary bowed low before who he assumed was the Emir, distinguished by his lax position on the highest chair. Trembling slightly, he bowed again and cleared his through before addressing the man. "Great Emir of North Africa and lord of Tunisia, my master, Sultan Malik Shah has bid me to give you his message."

Uncrossing his legs and gazing forward intently, the Emir was a picture of calm. "Read it aloud, my son," he rumbled slowly. The emissary nodded and quickly began.

"To the Emir of Tunisia, from Seljuk Sultan Malik Shah. I am willing to enter into an alliance with you for aid of my empire, on several terms. I would like it arranged that Jerusalem be an independent city, ruled by the religious leaders, and that the Mamelukes respect that. I wish to see that I retain overall command of my own troops, and request to have overall command when in my territory, though this is not necessary. Thirdly, I hope to see increased trade, communication, and cooperation between our great lands. But this is more of a frivolty. What say you? Currently Seljuk troops are deploying to face the Christians and will wait for your force, but may fight if necessary before that. Relay your message through my man, he knows the fastest ways back.

Ever respectfully, Malik Shah

PS, thanks wolfenbach, I can take over the Seljuks now

After a while of discussions with his advisors, the Emir summoned the embassary again.

The Emir nodded at the embassary and replied, "I have discussed this with my advisors. Your Sultan make many demands of those who are rushing to his aid. But I feel that Islamic nations need to band together if Islam is to survive the Christian threat.

Your Sultan's first purposal confuses me. Why does he come to me if he wishes to make Jerusalem an independent city? I have no power over Jerusalem. I will speak to Sultan Sulejman about this once I arrive in the Mameluke Empire, but should Jerusalem become a independent city, Tunisia will recognize it as a soverign power and treat it as such, I'm afraid thats all I can assure.

Your second demand has troubles as well. I know I will, and I'm fairly certain Sultan Sulejman will not attempt to command your troops, but I will not allow your Sultan to command my troops, nor do I believe that Sulejman will want his command taken away.

The third demand is the easiest for me. I will gladly allow more trade between us, as well as further communication and cooperation. I believe that we of the true faith must be ready should the Christians somehow bond together and strike at Islam."

"Scribe," the Emir motioned to the man sitting next to him who had hastily been copying down the Emir's words. The scribe rolled up the parchment and put the Emir's seal on it before handing it to the nervous embassary.

"I wish you good luck and good health, my son, as well as to your Sultan. My force has nearly arrived at Alexandria, and the Jihad will make haste to Anatolia. May Allah guide you home safely and protect your lands,"

The embassary nodded and left the throne room.
