Hispaniolan War OOC Thread

Rojo Quisqueya

All right, thread for everything relating to the Red Tidean invasion of Rojo Quisqueya and the aftermath of the Haitian and Dominican unified revolutions.

Invasion (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=458172)

Revolutions (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=446702)

The first thread there, Invasion, is the one of immediate significance, the Revolutions thread just being there to provide background.

Tech Level

Modern, really. RQ is just coming out of revolutions in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and has seventeen million people and an economy worth a couple of thousand dollars per capita. It hasn't any air force or navy, and hardly any mechanisation, but that doesn't mean that other participants can't.

"For the record, ElectroThermal-Chemical(ETC) guns are quite common around MT tech Nations here. While the more powerful ElectroThermal(ET) guns, AKA: 'Railguns', are given the role of PMT and FT" -RedTide2 in response to my answer on tech levels, where in I mentioned his forces' use of ETC weapons.

I recognise this fact, but feel it worth mentioning that practical, deployed ETC cannons aren't really part of the modern world, let alone as battleship main batteries. However, it doesn't matter, because RT2 is the prime aggressor in this thread, and he's using them, so they're okay for this RP (that is ETC weapons, not railguns and whatnot).

Godmodding et cetera

Navassa was one of the first nations to recognise RQ as the new single govt. of Hispaniola, but their claims to have crippled RT2 populations and forces with chemical weapons are officially ignored. There'll be no posting casualties for the opposition (I'm not even posting perfectly concise casualties about my own forces!).

Besides, this is seventeen million poor people on an under-developed and bombed-out island. There's no need for such measures and expenditure.

Tactical/Strategic Situation

Quisqueya's paved airstrips have been bombed by RT2 and there has been no initial attempt to repair them: the Quisqueyans initially wanted them knocked out, anyway, so that RT2 can't use them! We've no air force!

There's lots of unpaved runways lying around for now, but nothing stopping RT2 bombing them, too.

Communications on RQ are in a bad state after poverty, neglect, sabotage in the revolution, and bombing by RT2. One ambassador is abroad in Pracowity, trying to co-ordinate limited news from home and relay it to the international community.

Note!: Only two nations have even officially recognised the revolutionary government of Republica Rojo Quisqueya, the rest yet to cease recognition of Haiti and the Dominican Republic!

Location of fighting

All of Hispaniola is under at least loose Quisqueyan Red Army (QER) control except for the Ile de la Gonave off Haiti, where that nation's government is trying to regroup in poor conditions.

RT2 has started an amphibious assault at San Pedro de Marcorís east of Santo Domingo in the former Dominican Republic.

Questions welcome.

Nations involved

Side 1

Rojo Quisqueya
-attempting to confirm the joint revolutions lead by the newly unified Quisqueyan Red Army (QER); chasing-down Dominican government supporters; hoping to attack Ile de la Gonave but lacking amphibious capability; trying to repulse foreign invaders.

Hallad
-contributing in a minor capacity to insert guerrillas and material aid to the QER.

Gilabad
-deploying special forces inland from Puerto Plata, where more forces are coming ashore.

Franberry
-attempting to save Cap Haitien international airport from destruction; deploying fleet assets to the region.

Side 2

RedTide2
-attempting to invade Hispaniola, starting in the Dominican Republic; hoping to take advantage of the post-revolutionary chaos and legal ambiguity over the new government to see the islands fall under puppet administration.

Other

Monte Castello
-dispatching large naval forces to the region, apparently displeased at Red Tidean invasion; not yet committed to action.

My nations probably going to TRY prop-up a puppet goverment controlling the entire island. They plan to keep troops on the island to prevent any future rebellions. Also, the island could be used as a base for subs, ships, and my Tu-22RT Strategic Bombers to interdict(meaning attack) the merchant shipping of any nation I get into a war with.

BTW:Can you reply to my only IC post in the invasion thread?

The purpose of my nation in this war is to provide support to my one of my closest neighbors, the RRQ, as Navassa Island, the heart of the USSN, is located extremely close to the island of Hispaniola.

Oh, and where is Red Tide2 located? Just trying to get a general idea of where my forces are going to.

Thank you,
Joe

Navassa, you seem to be confusing OOC and IC, OOC stands for Out Of Character, IC stands for In Character. I suck at explaining the difference. If somebody else(RQ?) could lend a hand in explaining, I would be thankful... OOCly of course.

BTW: My nation is located on a large island, the size of the Western half of Australia, with a vareity of climates.

Sorry, man. I'm kind of a newb at this; I mean, I've lurked around for a while and read the boards, but never actually got around to participating. thanks for the info.

I'd like to get involved, if only a minor role. I already posted something in the main thread (I missed the link to here, sorry.), but it's just an offer of minor aid, nothing too big. We'd be on Rojo Quisqueya's side, naturally. Mainly we'd ship supplies in, and I'd like to have a small guerrilla force.

Happy to have you, I think, Hallad. You're the first to arrive for a while without trying to win the war in their first two posts, I think!
Hallad

Well, I could send a couple million if you'd like... but I think a small force is more... appropriate. Plus, I don't want to deal with the complete logistics nightmare of a several million troops in battle.

Navassa: WHAT THE HELL?! The war has just begun! I am no where near victory! I have only faced... 4 of RQs soldiers so far! Two are dead, one ran away, and the last one... RQ I need to know what happens to that guy. Do you really want to give all that up just to get out of the war?
Rojo Quisqueya

Indeed! More than 99% of the QER is exactly as it was before RT2 showed up!

Ah well, we can do without that sort of ally, I suppose.

RedTide2, re. Gilabad's rubber boat: aren't the chances of you detecting that... minute? It's on the complete opposite side of the island to your landings, with mountain ranges in between. Slipping ashore with hundreds of miles of coast is actually not that hard, even the north Koreans can do it on a regular basis against better established defences, using bigger vessels than a rubber boat.

Edit: Oh, and the fourth guy was killed, I thought by the 30mm guns on your amphibious APCs. Only one of four men at the landing site escaped. Three dead Quisqueyans and one walking-wounded Red Tidean is not the perfect start for us, and a ratio we have to change if we're to last long!

I got the impression that he was sending that rubber boat right along the beach head. Or is he sending it down the river? Ill recheck the post and edit this message. Also, is there any resistance at the port?(Where a brigade of my men are attacking right now).

EDIT:Okay, I checked his post and it doesnt say where the boat is coming from. Although I think it does say where it is headed... oh wait... its coming towards Puerto Plata... my bad.

Sorry, that's what happens when you try to post after being up for 39 hours straight. Fuck, I just now got around to reading that shit, and am going to delete that post.

the USSC (United Socialist States of Cromyr) is interested in bringing humanitarian aid to the region. From what various intelligence reports have shown, biological weapons have been used against the populace, and casualties from the mounting conflict (and inedible friendly fire due to the large scale of the conflict and the numerous different flags fighting alongside one another).

Because so many are already fighting, someone needs to wipe up the blood and try to actually improve the lives of the populace. the USSC prefers the rebel forces, but it will not refuse anyone care. 2,250 medical experts will be brought in, they have rudamentary equipment, but lack high tech equipment. They each carry a gas mask at all times in case of a gas attack, and have 1,517 to spare for locals. Of all of them, about 6,000 carry a pistol, but otherwise they are unarmed.

Also, several state subsidized news orginizations (they are public yet retain free speech, except when dealing with flat out lies {eg. Cheese proven to cause blindness}).

So, can I join in?
