ABANDONED NUCLEAR SUB
FOUND OFF OUTER BANKS
(AXS/XNS) – In a case as baffling as that of the Mary Celeste, an abandoned Typhoon-class SSBN was discovered run aground on one of the Outer Banks. The submarine appears to have suffered only minimal damage, but mysteriously lacks any crew. The officials of the Xharnian Coast Guard who boarded and inspected the vessel shortly after dawn report than its nuclear pile had been shut down several months ago, leading investigators puzzled as to how the vessel made its way to the Outer Banks in the first place…
As the wreck is well within Xharnian waters, the Government of H.R.M. Azure IV has official declared it to belong to the Kingdom of Xharn under the ages-old Law of the Sea, which gives shorebound authorities the right to exercise an unchallengeable claim of salvage…
The Xharnian Navy is reported to have surrounded the vessel with several warships and plans to float the abandoned submarine off the banks as soon as possible…
