Nation War (Others Join!)

The Vulkara
05-12-2005, 23:25
This is a forum for a basic war RPed between NS Nations. To join send a telegram to me, The Empire of the Vulkara. The telegram should have basic geographical information (are you landlocked? islands? shoreside?) and general military strength (is your navy larger than your ground forces? is your air force extremely powerful with a weaker navy?)

If you wish you can join as a third or other party, giving more different alliances so we have more than two groups.

The current forces and alliances:

Alliance 1 -
The Empire of the Vulkara
The Empire of Dalmuria
The United Socialist States of The Baltic Union

Alliance 2 -
The Tribal Federation of Mahria
The Holy Imperium of Banduria

The War has begun.

The Empire of the Vulkara has finally been driven to declare war on the Tribal Federation of Mahria. The ways of the country have been found too dangerous to survive. The Empire wishes to reduce the extreme power of the massive nation.

The Vulkara has mobilized, calling on the aid of their close allies the Empire of Dalmuria. Every resource of both Empires are being pooled to defeat the massive Tribal Federation.

Met Ku, Mahria's minister for Defence, was in altogether too good a mood. Anyone in his position should be glad that his services hadn't been needed in some time. However, the bureaucrats had been clucking over the military budget for some time. He'd been dragged into maddening politics, with the accountants and peaceniks alike wanting cutbacks. Damn civilians!

The militarization of the Vulkara had even been warned about by Mahrian Intell for weeks before, but hadn't been taken seriously! What satellite pictures were to be had put them fully on alert, with surprising levels of action about airfields and naval bases.

Mahria was comparatively far from ready. Full mobilization is especially difficult in Mahria's situation. The population is scattered across many small islands, with few large concentrations. Just collecting all the soldiers, let alone equipping and positioning them, would be a headache.

Official Imperial Statement

The Holy Imperium of Banduria condemns this blatant aggression and imperialism by the Empire of the Vulkara against the Tribal Federation of Mahria. Any military action taken against Mahria will be met with full force by the Holy Imperium itself. This is your first and final warning.

Lord Antor Sampetra
Supreme Commander and Grand Field Marshal of the Imperial Armed Forces

"Well, what's our status update?" Lord Antor Sampetra asked the shadowy figure on the other end of the comm, his steel-gray eyes alert and watching the candlelit scene through the display.

Lui Amovsky, the shadowy and sinister Chief of Intelligence, spoke slowly in a strange half-whisper. "My Lord, we're fully prepared to fight at least two major wars at once...and this will be anything but major. Our military is fully mobilized already in preparation for the war with Ankhmet, so we can easily deploy the 6th Fleet to The Vulkara."

"Very good," Lord Sampetra nodded in approval. "I'll relay it the new orders. It'll be ready to set out in... how many days?"

"Two to three days at the maximum," Amovsky said. "Probably one. 6th is our Quick Response Fleet. The 1st and 2nd have already been deployed to Ankhmet, and the others are just waiting."

"I'll deploy three full Legions, and a complement of Fanatics," Lord Sampetra said. "That ought to be enough to take care of them if they try anything else."

"Get the Emperor's approval before you do."

"I will," said Sampetra confidently, killing the comm.

[ooc: Ok, quickinfo on my nation and military. Banduria is a massive island in the northern seas of about 2 billion citizens, give or take a hundred million. Our military is extremely strong and known for its swift mobilizations. Troops are trained from birth to fight, giving us a powerful advantage in the army. In addition, we take all political prisoners and dissidents and inject them with drugs that turn them into mindless killing machines which we subsequently unleash upon the enemy. The Bandurian navy and air force are also quite strong; the Navy contains 12 Super Dreadnaughts and 24 supercarriers bearing a total of 6864 naval aircraft, with more than 2000 more on smaller carriers, battleships, and frigates—allowing us to quickly project air and naval power all over the world.

ORBAT for the 6th Fleet:

2 Monarch-class Super Dreadnaughts (x72 aircraft each = 144 aircraft)
6 Demon-class Battleships
5 Nessie-class Supercarriers (x240 aircraft each = 1200 aircraft)
26 Nightbane-class Cruisers
130 Chaos-class Destroyers
144 Severance-class Frigates
72 Darkgate-class Attack Frigates (x8 anti-sub helicopters each = 576 helicopters)
72 Lernea-class SSGNs
72 Dominis-class SSBNs
[Total: 385 ships, 144 submarines, 1344 aircraft, 576 helicopters]

11th through 13th Imperial Legions:
Total Combat Manpower: ~360,000
Total Mechanized Force: 3x mechanized divisions = approx. 4500 tanks and accompanying personnel]

Public Statement By Emperor Kaide

People of the Empire, we have grave news.
The Empire is at War. The Tribal Federation of Mahria has crossed the line, and our forces are prepared to move in on his borders.

The Tribal Federation has gained a new ally, an ally that is willing to give more support than our own to the already overpowering nation. The Holy Imperium of Banduria has joined our opponents ranks, but trust in our generals.

Mahria and Banduria shall be crushed.

The Empire of the Vulkara has chosen to begin moving ground troops just south of their border. The easily visible parts of the military is made up mostly of tanks, but it is a meager force barely capable of defeating such powerful foes.

Other troops don't appear to have begun mobilizing.

(Alliance 2)

Thergo sends out the Eye-of-God Class UCAV Reconnisence Aircraft to map out the situation. In minutes General Raymond Jefferson, commander of Thergo's joint forces, will have a full map of the area with thermal images and vehichle stats. This processing is creating heavy radar signals for SAM's to pick up, but Eye of God must keep a low altitude of 800 Meters because of fog. This puts it at extream danger.

Mahria

For clarity's sake, the common name for the Mahrian equivalent to America's "Pentagon" is Big Grey, since it is (shockingly) a Big Grey bunker.

The next day's briefing of the Cabinet at Big Grey had a more optimistic tone than previous ones. Earlier briefings had asked grimly about casualty estimates and possible damage to Mahria's cities and foreign interests.

This crowd was exuberant at the massive forces sent forth by the Holy Imperium.

"When did we find this out?" cackled Admiral Rek, one of several naval commander. The fourty year old was oddly young, but prematurely aged by stress. His hair was grey long before it's time.

In any case, the answer came from an elderly veteran. "The news came in around six-thirty this morning. Three hundred eighty ships! So what are we sending along with them?"

(OOC: I'm not a military man, so I'm just kind of copying the format that Banduria used. Suggestions as far numbers or division of different types of forces are appreciated.)
The following inter-branch haggling between navy and ground forces isn't really necessary. The end product of the meeting was the following contributions:

The entirety of Panther Squadron, the feared special forces unit. (This is essentially a group of commando lite, consisting of five thousand real badasses) The highly mobile light infantry unit is the pride of Mahria's armed forces.

The Western Islands Battlegroup, a full fifteen hundred soldiers. (Regular infantry with a few support vehicles)

Mahrian Armour Battlegroup (we don't have enough to bother splitting it into regional groups), consisting of 800 Menace class tanks. (Which are decent enough, but old.)

All this above was spread over six big transport ships, guarded by a dozen combat submarines and a half-dozen mid size fighting ships.

The aircraft carriers, Resolute, Talon and Reef Wall carried their full complement totalling:
900 Shark class bombers, generally focused on anti-ship actions.
250 Osprey class fighters
50 Scout class light reconaissance craft.

Two-Crossing-Rivers, Mahria.
Parliamentary Press Room

Fia Hin, Mahria's minister for foreign affairs, took over for the normal press handler. The occasion merited it.

"Ladies and gentlemen," she said as a forest of hands shot up, "I know what you're all going to be asking. Just let me read the prepared statement first, all right? The news reached us several hours ago from Balmuria that the Imperium is as enraged as we are at this breach of international peace and order. It has been relayed to me that massive forces have been despatched in our assistance, and that The Empire of the Vulkara is badly shaken. I think peace can be expected very soon. Questions?"

OOC: Banduria, my comrade, welcome. If anyone else chooses to join, please side with the Empire of the Vulkara as (after the contributions of the Holy Imperium) they could probably use you.

[ooc: Thank you. A good example of how my forces operate can be found in this thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=452246). Whether we will pull the same trick on you is a different matter, but for now at least we're firmly on your side.]

The Imperial fleet was beginning to mobilize. The massive surface fleet, which was nevertheless the smallest by far of all of the Imperium's navy, made its way out of ports and began to head south towards Mahria, under the command of Archon Barilus, one of the Emperor's own chosen Warlord Generals. From the bridge of his massive capitol ship, the HIS Hand of God, Barilus watched the sea skim by as the fleet picked up speed, approaching Mahria. Flights of UAVs and recon planes passed over the fleet's defencive formation, guarding it from any enemy advance.

After hours approaching Mahria, the fleet split. A task force headed through the islands towards Mahria's capital to link up with Mahrian forces, but the vast majority of the fleet—more than 300 ships, as well as the full ground and air forces—headed towards The Vulkara instead, to blockade it and prevent any forces from leaving the aggressor.

[ooc: The Vulkara, can you describe your nation for us? Are you an island, etc.? What about the climate?]

Cafenia
17-12-2005, 22:18
The island state of Cafenia would like to wholeheartedly condemn the agression of Vulkara against Mahria. Cafenia would deploy forces to aid Mahria, however, our armies are currently very small, and mostly just a few men with rifles. If Mahria would like, we could deploy our country's 1st Battalion of the 1st Regiment, for a total of about 900 men, which we could probably send aboard two small frieghters. We would need a small gunboat or destroyer to escort them. In addition, we would need perhaps some mortars and anti-tank missiles, to make sure our forces are better use in battle.

We will help make sure Mahria is not defeated by agressor states.

Sincerely,

Raoul Gonzales
President of Cafenia

OOC: I entered the war assuming it's modern-tech level. I suppose some slightly more advanced stuff would be all right. Vulkara, what's your call on it?

(Returning to character)

The Mahrian people hear with gratitude the offer of Cafenia. The destroyer Tellecan Fist will arrive to offer your forces escort within the week. What mortar crews you have are eagerly awaited by our similar units.
