International Music Festival to be held in Bonstock: one week of peace and music

Bonstock
04-12-2005, 22:47
The news in Bonstock is always dull and dreary, and today like all others. "Civil War in Snake Eaters" and "Genocide in Roach-Busters" ran as the headlines of the day, along with the latest indictment of a Bonstocknian Army general in the continuing investigation into Bonstocknian war crimes committed during the Bonstocknian-Asian Wars.

Then Bonstocknian folk-rock singer and songwriter Billy Lark had an idea: bring the whole world together for a week-long music and arts festival outside Port Yuko, Bonstock. Bring in the best artists from all around the world, and broadcast the message of peace to all the war-torn autocracies. It was to be a free festival, paid for by Lark himself, with extra funding from the Bonstocknian government which saw a chance to boost the Bonstocknian economy through tourism.

All nations are invited to send their musicians to the festival, and Aero-Bonstock Airlines and Bonstocknian Airways are offering a cheap vacation package that included a week-long stay at an area hotel and round-trip airfare from their country of origin to Bonstock, at only 2 thousand USD per person. Audiances from the world over can see the festival.

Crews are now working to build a stage in a natural valley about 60 miles east of the Bonstocknian capital city of Port Yuko along Highway 61, near the sleepy Bonstocknian town of Scarborough. Surrounded by mountains, the site is a natural ampitheater. Nearby is the site where the final battle of the Great Bonstocknian Civil War was fought, along with a memorial to the millions who perished in that conflict. Accomidations are provided at every hotel in Scarborough, as well as hotels in Port Yuko and motels along Highway 61, each offering tour busses to the concert.

Accomidations range from the cheap Motel 68 inns that line Bonstocknian highways to the upscale Royal Maropian Hotel in downtown Port Yuko, across the street from President Harald Gustavsson's mansion. The concert grounds are conveniently located near several Bonstocknian fast-food restaurants, most notably the Viking Burger chain, home of the famous Berserker Burger. Another popular brand is Canton Express, with its fast Chinese food.

Outside of Scarborough, there are numerous tourist destinations. Any sports fan will flock to see a Bonstocknian Water polo match. Bonstocknian Water polo is essentially a derivative of normal water polo, except players can use two hands to throw the ball and wrestling for the ball is legal and encouraged. It is the most popular sport in Bonstock. The week of the concert is also the week of the series ending between the two Port Yuko teams, the the Port Yuko Mongols and the Port Yuko Purple Haze, the winner to recieve the Bonstocknian Waterball Cup. Also, the regular season of Bonstocknian soccer is underway.

For those that like to shop, the giant Port Yuko Gigamall is the place to go. It includes several fast food restaurants, dozens of multiplex movie theaters, and every shop from small little boutiques to giant department stores, the ones that President Gustavsson calls "the plague of the world." Feel free to waste all your money on worthless clothes that you'll only wear once... that's what malls are for in a Bonstocknian's eyes.

Downtown Port Yuko is also a place to be for tourists. Fine dining and small coffee houses are on every corner, and tall skyscrapers tower over the streets filled with taxies and other cars. One can see the concert grounds from the top of the Bank of Bonstock building, the tallest building in Bonstock, and museums all around discuss everything from dinosaurs to Bonstocknian military history. The Port Yuko Naval Base, home to dozens of aircraft carriers, is definately worth a visit for those interested in the history of Bonstock, as is the nearby ArmsDiscounters Bonstock assembly plant. Although the area should be avoided during rush hour, as clogged streets and crammed subways will leave people gasping for breath.

For those who like a more natural surrounding than the hustle and bustle of Port Yuko, there are many alternatives. Hiking is popular in Bonstock, and the trails near the woods of the Scarborough concert are open. Also, flights are avaliable to the cities of Skogby and Havklippa, both boasting nearby national parks with camping and hiking, or to Bergpasstan, a famous Bonstocknian ski resort city. Flights also connect to Zecrostrand, in the very south of Bonstock, with its sandy beaches that tourists from the whole world love.

But of course the music will be the main attraction. Billy Lark will perform, along with other artists from Bonstock, and the best artists in the world are invited to attend. For one whole week, hundreds of thousands of people will watch, as the music is broadcast all over the world by satellite TV.

Any artist from any country is invited to come. If you wish to come, please apply here.

We commend both Billy Lark and the Bonstock goverment on the idea of a music festival. Two bands that are based in Theao, as well as an orchestra wish to attend and preform.

The bands are Oblivion Folder and Poetic Justice, while the orchestra is the Theao Technorchestra, or TTO.

Billy Lark and the Bonstocknian Department of Foreign Affairs will see to it that the members of Theao Technorchestra, Oblivion Folder, and Poetic Justice get a first class plane ride to Bonstock and five star hotels. Since they were the first to sign up, they may lead off the show right after Lark does an intro.

We thank you for the accomedations, flight, and slots.

How long are the slots per band? We wish to know so we may choose which songs should be included for the concert.
Bonstock
04-12-2005, 23:51
We will give a slot of one hour for each artist. Since the concert will last five days for twelve hours every day, that leaves room for... 60 artists. Or 56 now since we have four signed up.

The concert will last from 9 am to 9 pm each day for the five days.

Anyway, choose the songs you like the best.

And as a special treat to the world, they will be performing together for their hour! Much to the delight of Tocrowkian fangirls across our nation, one would think.

OOC: I would really love to participate, but I think that my late postmodern/early near-future tech level would get in the way. The year in RK is 2120AD.

If I am allowed, I would send RK's synthpop band "Omnipresence" to perform two songs: "Liberation Machine" (a classic RK hit covered many times) and their synthesizer-driven rendition of John Sousa's classic 1883 march "Liberty Bell" (OOC: this is, of course, a real piece). Due to RK's large size, a lot of tourists would arrive.

Red Satin Revolver, a hairband turned "Metals Answer to Elton John" will attend on the eve of it's new World tour, should they be allowed to OPEN the show.

RSR, as they are sometimes called, came onto the scene as a Guns N' Roses cover band. Tracii Pilot, who reminds some of Bill Bailey (aka, W. Axl Rose,) leads the band on vocals.

You should know, however, that for several years RSR competed with the McKagan Marine Sniper Corps on number of "kills." During their most popular days, after the release of the "." album, Tracii Pilot was seen more in rehab clinics than he was at the tour dates. This resulted in many riots, and the band has a confirmed 21 kills.

If you are willing to provide proper security, and in the words of Tracii, "keep those fuckers away from me," RSR will for sure be the highlight of the event.

Red Satin Revolver, Omnipresence, Jack Levin & The Ravens, and the Green Submarines are all welcome to attend, and we will give them the same treatment we're giving the Theaoan bands. We look forward to the music.

The Bonstocknian Department of Foreign Affairs would like to ask how many tourists will be attending from each nation to watch the festival.

Dear Whom it May Concern within the Bonstockian government,

The Empire of Atruria, a nation that has just recently come out of its isolationist period, would be honored if Atrurian bands would be permitted to join the Music Festival, to extend Atrurian awareness. If approved, the Empire's musical delegates will be the metal band "X-plosiv," the modern rock group "The All-Atrurian Rejects," and the Atrurian singer, Freddy Marcus. With these three bands joining the fray, it is estimated that somewhere between 3,000 and 7,000 Atrurian tourists will be attending; if you desire, we will gather exact numbers for you, and if any more information is required, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We will reserve at least five Anchor-12 aircraft (OOC: RK-specific aircraft similar to the Boeing 747 but more streamlined and slightly larger) for at least five flights on at least five days, giving a minimum maximum (excuse the oxymoron) of 5x5x5x200=25000. We also request permission to ship our Representatives over, and a national television crew to give satellite coverage of the event (we would pay a fee for this).

We do not spy on our own citizens, and do not force them to plan ahead where they are going. Thus, we do not know how many of our people will be in the area. However, RSR is a huge band, so it is for sure that several of the more... "disposable income" having citizens will follow them all the way out there. But because of the Metal Culture that McKagan currently has, alot of these festivals are held in OUR major cities, so we don't expect a mass exodus of many other fans in general.

In a surprise move Human Representative Salera Bonman-Perita (using her stage name Sassy Bonman) has decided to apply for a permit to perform, in a duet with techno composer Caron Eraso alongside "Omnipresence" at the upcoming festival as a publicity stunt. Being daughter of a professional singer (Antalia Smith, née Bonman), and of a music theory teacher (Atorio Perita), she believes that albeit never performing, she can pull this off. Eraso is the opposite, having no music tuition but having performed in the group "Ciudad Rojo".

They will, if accepted, perform two covers; one of the British "Just Can't Get Enough" (OOC: real, originally performed by Depeche Mode), one of Antalia's hits, "(More Than Just) Midnight Love", and also a new song, "Delegation", jointly with Omnipresence, at the end of RK's allotted time period.

(OOC: DISCLAIMER: I'm of course not actually performing the *real* song (merely mentioning its name), so I don't think I'm infringing any copyrights)

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing on behalf of the Cominan pop-rock band “Io Conregatio Licens” (The Free Society) concerning the Peace Festival concert to be held in Bonstock. Doubtless this name is unfamiliar to the Bonstock Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but, with a following of over 1.8 million listeners from Pacitalian, Latin, and Cominan speaking areas it was hoped that the band would be sufficiently popular to warrant a slot at Peace Fest. This would not only be a great honor for the Cominan band and the people they represent, but also for Bonstock as your fine nation would be playing host to our nation’s first rock stars on their first trip overseas. All members of “Io Conregatio Licens” have expressed great interest in playing the Peace Festival and believe that their anti-war message would be well received at the show. No payment would be necessary for the performers.

Please respond expediently.

An invitation to attend the festival was also sent to the Bonstocknian guitarist Randy Jenrik. The famed electric guitarist was scheduled to be the finale at the show.

Preparation was well underway, but had to be hurried up for the event to go on schedule. The stage was finally built, and food stands, porta-poties, and hotel rooms were reserved for about 100,000 expected guests.

But millions began showing up. The highway from Port Yuko to the fairgrounds was clogged with traffic. Billy Lark, from his home near the fair, had to walk the way to the concert with his back-up band.

Finally, on a warm, summer Friday night, the show began. Lark saw the millions of people out in the crowd as the crowd cheered his arrival. "Man, it looks like we had a full house here tonight."

The crowd cheered again.

"You know, the man up there says we gotta fight, says we gotta sacrafice for our country. You know what, I think they're the wrong ones. I say we show them by getting together in peace, man! Now lets hear the music!"

The crowd cheered again. Lark burst into the first song of the night, a cover of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues." After the quick intro, Lark began the words,

Johnny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again
You better duck down the alley way
Lookin' for a new friend
The man in the coon-skin cap
In the big pen
Wants eleven dollar bills
You only got ten.

The crowd cheered again as he played. He went on to play other popular songs of his, such as "Stop the cannons" (with its familiar lyrics, We gotta stop the cannons before it's too late) and "Day-shift Blues." Lark played his guitar and sang, his verses linked by harmonica solos, as his songs described the social unrest of modern Bonstock.

By the time it was over after Lark's version of "Desolation Row," the crowd was wild with excitement. They were ready for the next performance...

"Argh! Damn traffic. We're going to be late for the show premiere!" shouted Karl Olden, Omnipresence's lead vocalist, from the window of the Bonstockian taxi he'd hailed. The boot was packed with books, amplifiers and Olden's vocoder, and in the front pocket of his backpack lay the stage passes for his band. They were already ten minutes late, and a few more minutes would surely result in their timeslot being filled over. Behind him was the hired limousine carrying Salera and Caron Eraso, also far-from-fashionably late.

OOC: What do I do next? I think that the next person to post should take the timeslot as my acts are rather late.

Oblivion Folder, Poetic Justice and TTR had all arrived for the concert early, the orchestra arriving the earliest as they had the most prep work to do.
____________________________________________________________

Meanwhile Mark and Urlious Terric, the lead singer and guitarist respectively of Poetic Justice were arguing about song order.
"Life&Death, followed by Kitsume then Nemo, Walk of Air, Stars of Light and finished by Wanderlust."
"No, Kitsume can not be sandwiched by L&D and Nemo, it has to go between Stars and WL."
"Then it'll interfere with Walk."
Here the drummer, Indigo, interjected, "WL, Walk, Kitsume, L&D, Stars and finish with Nemo, deal."
"Ya."
"Sounds good."
_____________________________________________________________

Meanwhile, Oblivion Folder was preparing for their slot.
"So the order is Kinslayer, Sword of Centuries, Chandakka Sheen Dor, The First Dragon, Planet Hell, Necromancer's Tale, Cry Wolf and Howl and finish with Wishmaster?" James Alexander, the lead singer of the band asked.
"Ya." The drummer, Chericka Misusha replied.
"Wonder when we'll be up?" Szark 'Quilt' Stewart commented
"Soon hopefully." Was the reply of the other guitarist, Iri Dreegan.

The Chancellor and some of his closest friends are engaged in a band named "Acoustica" which prides itself in being fast, heavy, but also have mellow and light music, a variation of AC/DC, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, and Avenged Sevenfold, taking inspiration and talks both about themselves and of religion, which I believe would give a true touch to this Bonstockian event.

Warta Endor's musical scene was greatly excited when they heared about the festival. A total of Four Bands will travel to Bonstock.

Tommy Henderson & his Band- A young (21 years) and very popular guitar player. He's a master of improvisation and uses wah-wah pedals etc. frequently. (sorta Jimi Hendrix)
Uncle Fudge and His Band of Psychos (UFaHBoP)- It's hard to describe this band. They play a wide variety of music, but they can be classified in the class of Psychedelic Warty Rock. They use a large number of instruments, including bagpipes, african drums, mandolines etc.
The Grunt- A rock band. They are quite popular in Warta Endor, for the rest the typical rock band.
Zombie Momma- A satiric and cynical musician, he generally protests against everything. Sometimes he's a bit extreme but he knows where he has to stop in his acts. He has been arrested once for openly encourage his audiance to start a large riot.

Thousands of music fans, hippies, and many others are on their way. Their numbers range from 105000 to 400000 people.

Oblivion Folder had the next slot, and thus they got ready while the MC did the MC work.

"Alright boys and gals," Mark called out into the crowd, "Are you ready to rock, for we are Oblivion Folder."
As the crowds began cheering, they launched into Wanderlust.

I want to see where the sirens sing
Hear how the wolves howl
Sail the dead calm waters of the Pacific

Dance in the fields of coral
Be blinded by the white
Discover the deepest jungle

I want to find The Secret Path
A bird delivered into my heart, so

It`s not the end
Not the kingdom come
It is the journey that matters, the distant wanderer
Call of the wild
In me forever and ever and ever forever
Wanderlust

I want to love by the Blue Lagoon
Kiss under the waning moon
Straying, claiming my place in this mortal coil

Riding the dolphins
Asking the mountains
Dreaming Alaska
The Earth can have but Earth

I want to find...

It`s not the end...

Drown into my eyes and see the wanderer
See the mirrors of a wolf behold the pathfinder (http://www.nightwish.com/files/wanderlust-hi.mp3)

They continued throught their songs that they'd decided to play. As they reached the last song, Urlious spoke, "I'd like to dedicate this song to all those who have fallen as a result of senseless violence and bloodshed."

This is me for forever
One of the lost ones
The one without a name
Without an honest heart as compass
This is me for forever
One without a name
These lines the last endeavor
To find the missing lifeline
Oh how I wish
For soothing rain
All I wish is to dream again
My loving heart
Lost in the dark
For hope I'd give my everything
Oh how I wish
For soothing rain
Oh how I wish to dream again
Once and for all
And all for once
Nemo my name forevermore
My flower, withered between
The pages 2 and 3
The once and forever bloom gone with my sins
Walk the dark path
Sleep with angels
Call the past for help
Touch me with your love
And reveal to me my true name
Oh, how I wish...
Nemo sailing home
Nemo letting go (http://www.nightwish.com/files/nemo_192.mp3)

After Oblivion Folder finished the set, Poetic Justice stepped up. As they were getting ready, 'Quilt' brushed a tear from his eyes as his brother had been killed by a street thug over a measely two dollars and fourty-seven cents.

They then set into their songs.

For whom the gun tolls
For whom the prey weeps
Bow before a war
Call it religion

Some wounds never heal
Some tears never will
Dry for the unkind
Cry for mankind

Even the dead cry
- Their only comfort
Kill your friend, I don`t care
Orchid kids, blinded stare

Need to understand
No need to forgive
No truth no sense left to be followed

"Facing this unbearable fear like meeting an old friend"
"Time to die, poor mates, You made me what I am!"

"In this world of a million religions everyone prays the same way"
"Your praying is in vain It`ll all be over soon"
"Father help me, save me a place by your side!"
"There is no god Our creed is but for ourselves"

"Not a hero unless you die Our species eat the wounded ones"

"Drunk with the blood of your victims
I do feel your pity-wanting pain,
Lust for fame, a deadly game"

"Run away with your impeccable kin!"

"- Good wombs hath borne bad sons..."
Cursing, God, why?
Falling for every lie
Survivors` guilt
In us forevermore

15 candles
Redeemers of this world
Dwell in hypocrisy:
"How were we supposed to know?"

4 pink ones
9 blue ones
2 black ones (http://www.nightwish.com/files/kinslayer-hi.mp3)

They likewise dedicated this song, but to those who suffered from war.
They closed with one of both their personal and most popular songs, Wishmaster.

Master!
Apprentice!
Heartborne, 7th Seeker
Warrior!
Disciple!
In me the Wishmaster

Elbereth
Lorien

A dreamy-eyed child staring into night
On a journey to storyteller`s mind
Whispers a wish speaks with the stars the words are silent in him
Distant sigh from a lonely heart
"I`ll be with you soon, my Shalafi"
Grey Havens my destiny

Master!...

Silvara
Starbreeze

Sla-Mori the one known only by Him
To august realms, the sorcery within
If you hear the call of arcane lore,
Your world shall rest on Earth no more
A maiden elf calling with her cunning song
"Meet me at the Inn of Last Home"
Heartborne will find the way!

Master!...

Wishmaster
Crusade for Your will
A child, dreamfinder
The Apprentice becoming...

Master!...

Jake Lazarus, running through crowds of Bonstockians and toruists, the lead-singer of the All-Atrurian Rejects, looked down. Checking his wrist-watch, he realized that if the group didn't hurry up, his band wouldn't make it to the musical festival on time. Looking backwards, at Johnny Craig, his drummer, Tobias "Blade" Jameson, his guitarist, and the bassist, Terris Owens, Jake excitedly yelled, "Dudes, hurry up, we're not gonna get there on time if we keep this pace up."

Following right behind the Rejects were the solo artist, Freddy Marcus, and the metal band, Volkanik. Comprising of Blane Jaimie a.k.a. Maulker, Harry "Skull" Thomas, and Bobby Halkin, Volkanik had been one of the first bands on the Atrurian modern music and metal scene, as opposed to Freddy Marcus' soloist '80s era music style.

The convoy finally arrived at the stage.

"Uh... I think this is the right place, but I've never been to Port Yuko before. The highways are dizzying! Don't get roads like this in Acoria since they banned cars," shouted Olden to his driver. A signpost reading "Bonstock International Music Festival" confirmed this, along with an office signposted "Musicians Report Here". The vocalist handed the driver his fare in crisp avoirs, worrying slightly as he had never used paper money before. "Are these prendr... I mean avoirs enough?"

"Hmph," grunted Salera behind him, "I didn't think we'd be this late. The show's started without ME!"

Finally making it into the Festival's area, the group of Atrurian metal and rock idols clambered up backstage, just in time to catch Theao and TTO's last performance. Once TTO and the other Theao performers had left the stage, the stage lighting dimmed (OOC: Assuming this is taking place inside OR at night) Both Volkanik and The All-Atrurian Rejects worked quickly to set up their own equipment, neither group ever getting used to the idea of stage crews. Volkanik band-members quickly left the stage, then the lights began to brighten, just enough to see the silhouette-like figure of Jake Lazarus, the Rejects' main singer. Slowly Johnny Craig, the drummer, Blade, and Terris Owens were also just barely visible

"Hey there," Lazarus nodded at the crowd, as they began to cheer. "We're the All-Atrurian Rejects, and tonight, we are here for YOU!"

At this point Blade began strumming his guitar. Soon Craig's drum beat joined the guitar. Not short afterwards, Lazarus' voice kicked in.

"Him and her
Life is turned.
The day I knew you would leave
I can barely breath
Can you hear me scream

O-o-o thrown in all directions
You epitome of perfection
She's lost her will,
time is standing still

He walks, her, home
Now he walks a-lone
The days they turn into years
The eyes they drown in tears

Can you hear me scream

The way we are the way they were
(It's just a shadow of what's wrong)
The time with you the time is stirred
(I love you for , so long)
The hearts they turn, they turn away
(she says to go please don't you cry)
Love lost was found, night turns to day

O-o-o thrown in all directions
You epitome of perfection
She's lost her will,
time is standing still

Time is standing still."
(OOC: Time Stands Still, All-American Rejects)

As the music faded the crowd could be heard screaming window-shatteringly. Jake Lazarus smiled and nodded at Johnny Craig, who began to beat his drums. "Johnny over here wrote this song, I'm sure you all know this, but he's half Irish!"

His voice once more took off, as the other instrumentalists joined in...

"I can't believe the news today
I can't close my eyes and make it go away.
How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.

Broken bottles under children's feet
Bodies strewn across the dead-end street.
But I won't heed the battle call
It puts my back up, puts my back up against the wall.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Oh, let's go.

And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won?
The trenches dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart.

Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

How long, how long must we sing this song?
How long, how long?
'Cos tonight
We can be as one, tonight.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.

Wipe the tears from your eyes
Wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your tears away.
I'll wipe your bloodshot eyes.
Sunday, bloody Sunday.
Sunday, bloody Sunday."
(OOC: Sunday Bloody Sunday, U2)

At the end of this song, Lazarus shouted into the mic. "Okay guys," he screamed "There's somebody who came to join us tonight, I'm sure you all know him, now let's give a hand for my good friend and main inspiration, Freddy Marcus!" As he said this, the Atrurian rock idol, Marcus, ran up onto the stage, yielding whopping cheers, whistles, screams, and clapping from the excited crowd.

Freddy Marcus ran up right next to Lazarus, patting him on the back, he took the second mic off the stand and yelled into it. "Hi everybody! It's just so awesome to be here in Bonstock with all of you, people from thousands of places all over this planet. It just proves that peace is totally possible. Alright now, kick it!"

He and Jake Lazarus both began to sing a duet version of his song, Sympathy.

"Stranger than your sympathy
This is my apology
I'm killing myself from the inside out
All my fears have pushed you out

I wish for things that I don't need
All I wanted
And what I chase won't set me free
All I wanted
And I get scared but I'm not crawling on my knees

Oh yeah everything's all wrong yeah
Everything's all wrong yeah
Where the hell did I think I was

Stranger than your sympathy
I take these things so I don't feel
I'm killing myself form the inside out
Now my head's been filled with doubt

It's hard to lead the life you choose
All I wanted
When all your luck's run out on you
All I wanted
You can't see when all your dreams are coming true

Oh yeah it's easy to forget yeah
You choke on the regrets yeah
Who the hell did I think I was

Stranger than your sympathy
All these thoughts you stole form me
I'm not sure where I belong
Nowhere's home and I'm all wrong

And I wasn't all the things
I tried to make believe I was
And I wouldn't be the one to kneel
Before the dreams I wanted
And all the talk and all the lies
Were all the empty things disguised as me
Yeah stranger than your sympathy stranger than
your sympathy"
(OOC: Sympathy, Goo Goo Dolls))

By the end of this song, members of Volkanik had begun to creep, generally unnoticed, onto stage. Members of the Rejects stood up and slapped hands with Volkanik members, as Terris Owens smiled and shouted "Don't worry, we'll be right back!" And he followed the other Rejects offstage.

This is when Freddy Marcus launched into his only solo, this concert.

"Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door

Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door

Mama put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore
That cold black cloud is comin' down
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door

Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door
Kn-knockin' on heaven's door

"You just better start sniffin' your own
rank subjugation jack 'cause it's just you
against your tattered libido, the bank and
the mortician, forever man and it wouldn't
be luck if you could get out of life alive"*

Kn-kn-knockin' on heaven's door"
(OOC: Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Guns 'n' Roses)

As the song faded out, Freddy Marcus walked backwards, strumming his electric guitar, untill he was offstage. Maulker grabbed a microphone and screamed into it "E'rybody, we are Volkanik! Now we've heard some good music some of the best in the world! But now, here comes the elite! Are you ready?" He screamed?
"Yes!" Hurled the audience
"Can you handle it?" Maulker screamed again
"Yes!" shouted the audience once more!
"Do you want it?"
And the audience went crazy, wildly yelling.

"There's so many people dying
You complain about your situation
What about me?
Half the world wouldn't know
What it's like to lose your seed
Maybe you can understand

(How I feel)
I cannot reach that soul
You're probably watching over us
Know that I think of you
It's killing me

The guilt has lasted years, still cry
It was all planned out
Why was I last to know?
Don't you trust in me?
The table's cold, it's too late
To make up for these mistakes
Maybe you can't understand

(How I feel)
I cannot reach that soul
You're probably watching over us
Know that I think of you
It's killing me
(How I feel)
If I would have known
I can't say what I would have done
If you could forgive
I'd like to rest with you someday

(How I feel)
I cannot reach that soul
You're probably watching over us
Know that I think of you
It's killing me
(How I feel)
If I would have known
I can't say what I would have done
If you could forgive
I'd like to rest with you someday"
(OOC: Speculum, Adema)

Just moments after the song had finished, a new one had already started.

I went outside to take a walk
So I could relive memories
I thought that you would lend a hand
But you were never ever there

It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Your promises are all played out
You've got your wish, you've worn me down
I treated you the best I could
I realize that I don't need you

I lost my way when you left home
I thought that you could change your life
What did I do, why do you lie?
You've walked back in, my hands are tied

It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Your promises are all played out
You've got your wish, you've worn me down
I treated you the best I could
I realize that I don't need you

It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

It's all in your mind
You do what you want to me

I'm tired, I'm so damn angry
With you
Your not gonna change
I see who you really are

Your promises are all played out
You've got your wish, you've worn me down
I treated you the best I could
I realize that I don't need you

Your promises
Your promises
Your promises
They're all played out
You're so played out
You're so played out
You're so played out
They're all played out"
(OOC: Promises, Adema)

As the group launched into their final solo-group song, the All-Atrurian Rejects came back on stage.

"Lashing out the action, returning the reaction
Weak are ripped and torn away
Hypnotizing power, crushing all that cower
Battery is here to stay

Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery
Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me

Battery

Crushing all deceivers, mashing non-believers
Never-ending potency
Hungry violence-seeker feeding off the weaker
Breeding on insanity

Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery
Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me

Battery
Battery

Circle of destruction, hammer comes crushing
Powerhouse of energy
Whipping up a fury, dominating flurry
We create the battery

Smashing through the boundaries, lunacy has found me
Cannot stop the battery
Pounding out aggression turns into obsession
Cannot kill the battery
Cannot kill the family, battery is found in me

Battery"
(OOC: Battery, Metallica)

Finally, the two groups joined together for the Atrurian finale, a Promises/In The End remix, as Jake Lazarus hustled onto the stage.

Lazarus: I went outside to take a walk
So I could relive memories
I thought that you would lend a hand
But you were never ever there

Maulker: It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Lazarus: All I know
time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away

Maulker:It’s so unreal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on

Lazarus: It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Maulker:It’s so unreal
I lost my way when you left home
I thought that you could change your life
What did I do, why do you lie?
You've walked back in, my hands are tied

Lazarus:I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter

Maulker:It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Lazarus:I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I’m surprised it got so (far)

Maulker:Things aren’t the way they were before
You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me

Lazarus:It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Maulker & Lazarus:
I'm tired,
I'm so damn angry
With you
You're not gonna change
I see who you really are

Your promises are all played out
You've got your wish, you've worn me down
I treated you the best I could
I realize that I don't need you

And got so far
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter
I had to fall
To lose it all
But in the end
It doesn’t even matter

Lazarus:It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Maulker:It's all in your mind
You do what you wanna do

Lazarus & Maulker:
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There’s only one thing you should know
I’ve put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this

Lazarus:Your promises are so played out

Maulker:They're all played out

Lazarus & Maulker:You're... All... Played... Out...

The lights dimmed once more, and the crowd fell into an unnatural silence as the next act on the program neared. Several seconds of bated breath ensued as a member of the stage crew ran onto the stage announcing the tardiness of the first RK act, Omnipresence. In the background a cacophony of crashing and tinkling, interspersed with a loud plummy but irked voice screaming loudly but unclearly. Suddenly, the curtain pulled back to reveal a quartet, three men and a woman (OOC: Not Salera, I'm treating her as a separate act), two on synthesizers and two on microphones.

The lead singer, Karl Olden, made a gesture to the crowd. "Sorry we're late," he shouted down the microphone, "Since we're running out of our timeslot, we'd better start on our first act this evening."

The lights flicked on, a stream of red and yellow enveloping the stage. "And if you've lost your programme, we're Random Kingdom's Omnipresence, and this is a cover of the rather hackneyed RK classic 'Liberation Machine'."

(OOC: this is NOT to my knowledge an actual song and I'm literally creating the lyrics etc from scratch (I'm not a good songwriter!), but the song title has been referred to in some RK RP...)
(Sung in the style of Alphaville with some ABBA-esque "happy-tinged sadness")

They promised love
They promised peace
They promised food for all
So why is it that I'm crying
In a wartorn part of town
Starved and reduced to begging
Always wearing a frown

CHORUS
If this this is their utopian dream
Why do I feel like a cog in the liberation machine
If free speech was the true theme
Why do I have no mouth, no mouth to scream

And now I plough
In a strange farm
Food for a strange man
So why is it that I'm sowing
Seeds in a madman's dream
Always oiling and tending
The liberation machine

CHORUS

Before the audience had a chance to boo or hiss, the two singers had disappeared, and re-entered with portable synths, immediately bursting into their rearrangement of "Liberty Bell".
