After several days of debate within the court at Marseilles a decision has been reached: The French will not abandon the Prussians to death and enslavement, especially after France paid them to join in on their side. The troops returning home from Lombardy are currently recuperating and rearming near Marseilles. However, an army of 100,000 men was deployed to the eastern border when war seemed imminent. It has remained there for several weeks and now it recieves a message from the king: Attack.

The Eastern Army, as it is being called, comprises 100,000 infantry, 3,000 dragoons, another 4,000 hussars, and 5,000 curiassers. The artillery train is made up of 100 field pieces and 25 siege guns. The dragoons and hussars are out early, scouting and foraging ahead of the main army. They also screen the army's movement, preventing German patrols from spotting them. They march north-east, towards Prussia. Their objective is to burn and plunder their way through the Empire.

In the south, an army of 90,000 men, 2,000 dragons, 1,000 hussars, and 4,000 curiassers advances into Spain. This army is, sensibly, called the Army of Spain. Their objective is Madrid.
