Today saw the first official usage of the Braxian fleet's brand new Orbital
Bombardment Platform, Pounder. Escorted to the nearby wasteland
planet of Ummaja by the Battleship Splinter, the weapon system was
set to fire at noon, Braxis VI Time. The massive half-kilometre ship was driven
by psuedo-military-celebrity Franco and aimed at the crest of Mountain
3-72K to measure it's accuracy.
It took approximately 30 minutes for the canon to be fully charged and armed,
at which time the trigger was pulled, and a fifty metre wide beam of particles
rained down upon the planet, shredding rock and earth apart by the atom.
"The test went without a hitch", say professionals back in City I, claiming it
was one of the few orbital particle cannons with a magnetic containment field
strong enough to concentrate the beam all the way down onto the planet's
surface. Franco was said to be overjoyed at the successful test run,
and looks forward to implementing the extreme power of the Pounder in
battle and defence scenarios in the future.
Two more shots were fired down upon the Ummaja's surface at differing
widths, and three hours after the final shot the Pounder was escorted
back to Frulegurian orbit, above Braxis VI.
