'Topaz Campaign' - Bjornoyan Re-Organization of Africa

It was merely a matter of time before the weak and incompetent New Jyrian Government collapsed. A few months of inactivity, and finally the populace had enough. Civil disorder, riots, and violent reactions from the remaining police forces led the Bjornoyan Patriarch to believe it was time to act. A strict stance against the wave of disorder that was engulfing the world needed to be made.
For a year and a half now, after the Bjornoyan re-acquisition of Equitorial Guinea, thousands upon thousands of the indiginous population had eagerly volunteered to join the ranks of the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers. 10 new divisions, and a total of three Bjornoyan Peacekeeping Armies were poised to strike.
Preliminary airstrikes against New Jyrian airfields, known anti-air missile sites, and key strongholds were conducted by the Federal Airforces, with the assistance of Visara Co. Security Forces. The overall campaign would be enormous, sending Bjornoyan Peacekeepers into New Jyrian Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Nigeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
As dawn broke, the first steps into New Jyrian Gabon were made by the 23rd Federal Peacekeeping Division.

We can talk tactics in a bit. Considering how huge this region is, we're gonna need a lot of everything.
Message from the Bjornoyan Federal Government
We welcome the assistance of our good allies from the VCO. Even with the combined might of our two nations, there will be a long road ahead of us. Not only do we must we bear the burden of realeasing the New Jyrian citizens from the chaos and anarchy that has engulfed their nation, we must neutralize any resistance that remains in support of the failed and corrupted government. It will be a long time before we can succesfully bring the glories of an orderly and industrious civilization back to the region.

We know. therefore, we would like to inquire if a front-line tactics centre in Khartoum, or any other location you like, is doable. here we can fully coordinate our tactics without the danger of being intercepted by New Jyrian Intelligence. Or, at least what's left of it.

Hirgizstan

Zambia, a vast country of mountains, desert and plains filled with grazing animals.
Lusaka, the main city, in turmoil. The New Jyrian government creating huge wounds in society as it fell, cursed, into the abyss. Without governance there are no amenities, no security...there is only toil.
At Lusaka International five large passenger planes, old turboprops, touch down on the runway, abandoned but for the new arrivals. Troops dressed in woodland BDU's, brandishing Norwegian Weapons and equipment rush out from each ends, quickly setting up defenses around a couple of hangars, waiting for two more planes to land.
The new National Hirgizstanian Army, fresh out of Praia, fresh from their own revolution, still essentially going on, former Hirgizstanian Liberation Army volunteers, this was Cape Verde's first official foreign intervention, and it wasn't strictly official, as the Government was not even established.
Two beaten down Land Rovers appeared in the haze, kicking up dust as they raced across the tarmac outside the deserted arrivals terminal. The jeeps, bristling with men and guns, skidded to a halt near a small gathering of Officers, in front of one of the planes.
The Officers seemed happy to see these new arrivals, even though they looked threatening. They exchanged pleasantries. Commander Nahailu, former deputy Commander in Praia, stepped forward and spoke. "Gentlemen, it is good to see expats upholding our age old traditions." The Officers and new arrivals talked avidly amongst themselves, talking of what Cape Verde was like, and what it might become. They were ex-Pats, ready to support the coming Hirgizstanian Insurrection.

Day 3: Topaz Campaign
Herrgott-General Ayodele Uchenna sat in the Bjornoyan Headquarters, located on the island of Fernando Póo, just west of Equitorial Guinea. Reports from the N.C.C.V. along with radio transmissions from local inssurent groups had confirmed the capture of a major airport in the Zambian capital of Lusaka. This was an excellent start, but the Bjornoyan peacekeepers were worlds away from reaching the airfield. The only routes available to send a large amount of forces and provide a decent amount of security were either to fly troops from Aqaba to Bjornoyan Zanzibar, and over Kreynorian airspace to the airport, or to fly around the battle raging between Nuevo Rica and the U.S.B. and attempt to bring troops via Brinkman Botswana. Kreynoria would not be in the mood to help the Bjornoyans after so many recent squables, but perhaps if the U.S.B. had secured naval and air space near the southern regions of Nambia, much needed troops and supplies could be flown in with relative safety. Otherwise, the Hirgistani troops would have to wait for the coalition to secure air superiority over the vast region, which was expected to take at least three weeks.
The Bjornoyan Herrgott-General sent messages to the U.S.B. requesting permission to use Brinkman airspace and airfields for the Topaz Campaign, and where the best route would be to avoid a situation with the warring Nuevo Rican forces.

Re: Topaz Campaign
It will be some time before Bjornoyan Federal Troops can safely enter Lusaka, but we may be able to airdrop supplies immediatly. I expect our troops to be able to arrive safely within 3 days if we are allowed access to certain routes.
Progress was being made slowly but surely in Gabon. After a day of naval conflict and two days of thorough bombardments against known and expected military facilities in Libreville, Bjornoyan Federal Marines landed, and had begun the task of securing a landing site for the Bjornoyan Peacekeepers to start amassing troops and vehicles. The port had been secured, and the New Jyrian fleet sanctioned there had been bombarded before it could leave port. The few vessels that made it out from the Gabon river damaged some Bjornoyan vessels before getting hit by air strikes. The entire river mouth was flooded with burning oil and sunken ships. Meanwhile, a detachment of marines was making its way down the Gabon river from Equitorial Guinea. Under cover of darkness, the marines made their way downstream, securing small villages with the Peacekeepers kilometers behind on foot.
ooc: Hirg, V.L. and U.S.B. Bjornoya will allow your forces to use Bjornoyan territory for staging grounds so long as the forces don't interact with the populace. I have a bunch of island chains near the region, along with E. Guinea and Cameroon, so if you want to use them its fine.

At 0500 in the morning, a large line of vehicles crossed the border between Chad and Nigeria. it was the major part of Offenisve Army I, and slowly gained land from the New Jyrians. The Leopards moved infront, but what they saw was nothing but destruction. The Monegasque Airforce had been bombing this area for some nights, and now there only was a road, and bushes. no border checks, nothing. emptyness.
D. R. Congo
Slowly, life began to start again in the sky over the city of Kisangani. a group of 10 old C-141B Starlifters started their drop run at the city. as the aircraft were at the right position, the men jumped. from down below, a lot of white dots appeared. Those were part of the Loyalist Guard, and very experienced with the parajumping. The small dots became larger, and landed on the ground, trying to calm the populace while looking at the destroyed builidngs in the city. They were the result of riots, aswell as bombings by Monegasque F-16's.

Praia, Cape Verde
Fresh from battle 10 Lion MBT's, 25 Gramstad APC's and 12 Sherman Tanks were lined up on the tarmac at the airport near the capital, waiting for the Norwegian transports that would take them to Lusaka. The other land strip was cleared and waiting for Layartebian planes filled with more tanks, APC's and weapons to land. They needed to move quickly to secure Lusaka thoroughly.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lusaka International Airport, Zambia, Province of Lusaka
The airport was now the Headquarters of the Hirgizstanian forces in Zambia. 1000 Hirgizstanian soldiers were stationed there, busy setting up Machine Guns, rocket tripods and mortars, while setting up Mess Area's and sleeping quarters in the abandoned terminal. Looters had been cleared out of some of the buildings during the night, and an effective perimeter set up around the airport.
They 12 planes were stored in nearby hangars and off near the arrivals terminal. The landing strips were cleared and waiting on Bjornoyan supplies and some troops coming in in the next few days.
The expat forces had been most helpful in Lusaka. They had already, before the main Hirgizstanian forces had even arrived, secured the support of a Zambian Army General, one of the Officer's who had led the rebellion against New Jyrian forces. Tanks, vehicles and soldiers were now on their way to the airport with the General to begin hashing out a plan. Commander Nahailu, had luckily, brought a sizeable amount of currency with him, as African politics sometimes needed a little helpful nudge along the way.
The situation in much of Zambia was actually rather promising. Generals, who pretty much controlled the provinces, could be bribed to come to the Hirgizstanian side. However, reports of heavy fighting were coming from Western and Northern Zambia, where remenants of forces loyal to New Jyria were fighting with local forces. Those would be the areas most troublesome.

The air armada arrived, a wee bit late due to unfavorable weather over the Bay of Biscaya. In total, five C-17A Globemaster IIIs, two C-18A Galaxy IIs and seven C-130J Hercules' transport aircraft would fly from Cape Verde to Zambia. They were escorted by aircraft from the HMNoS Frey, an aircraft carrier of the Odin [Flight I] class. Those planes, mostly classfied F-37G Razors armed with AIM-9X Sidewinder, AIM-120D AMRAAM and AIM-204 Dødsengel missiles for air defense, A-5D Vigilantes for anti-ground threats, EA-5F Vigilantes for SEAD and E-2E Adv. Hawkeyes for early warning. It was a good support wing, and it would ensure that the transports would get there safely.
The vehicles were loaded up, the crews seated in the planes, and those were being refuelled. All in all, the operation of loading the vehicles took the better part of five hours, but it was done relatively quickly by the skilled personell in the Royal Norwegian Air Force. Six hours after wheels down, the first of the heavily laden aircraft took off and headed for Zambia. ETA would be in six hours.
United States of Brink
04-12-2005, 18:42
Zimbabwe lay just north-east of Botswana and the eastern border of the United States of Brink. New Jyria’s collapse was evident from the beginning and the government was well aware of the quick dash for its land. Due to the invasion of the Namibia coast by Rican forces the issue was put on the back burner so to speak. Still the temptation of free land was an offer not easily passed upon. With the new government set in place, the economy as well as the population had sky rocketed. Regardless USB simply didn’t have the man power to snatch some land, for the moment at least.
An estimated 5 divisions of raw recruits were being formed in Botswana and Namibia to combat the invasion forces of Rican troops isolated on two beachheads. The USB government would need time in order to successfully occupy foreign land. One thing not in short supply within the Brink military was air power. Most squadrons had been called upon for the war however two still lay along Botswana’s eastern border with Zimbabwe. With the order given 2 squadrons of F-117’s and Fe-5 Heavy Bombers began their aerial bombardment of ground defenses. Hopefully this barrage would not only send a message to the local populace within the area but to other nations hoping to claim land in south-eastern Zimbabwe.
For the time being President Farrell would send in two Ranger Battalions commanded by the famous Ethan Raven. (See Collapse in Namibia) They were to secure the city of Plumtree which intercepted the main roadway from Botswana into Zimbabwe. If taken it would provide a rapid advance into Botswana.

From: President Farrell of the Untied States of Brink
Your request to use air space over the USB has been granted however there are certain rules to ensure the safety of your aircraft. 1) Airspace over major cities such as Windhoek is prohibited. 2) Since we are at war there is the chance that your aircraft might be mistaken as Rican forces and engaged. To prevent this any aircraft entering are borders must come from the southern or eastern borders. 3) All aircraft must be confirmed twice with us to ensure your aircraft are not harmed.
We are sorry if this is unacceptable however we are at war and must take every precaution.

The Zambian General arrived near dusk with little fanfare, obviously a serious man, with much to do. Commander Nahailu was pleased at this, he wasn't some sort of blustering buffoon.
The M113/M577 Command Vehicle turned up outside the airport and was waved through after a talk with a guard. It pulled up outside the arrivals terminal and Nahailu walked out to meet the General with an aide.
The back doors of the high roofed tracked vehicle opened and a lanky, skinny man, clean shaven and with patches of greying hair, literally jumped out with a smile. He immediately noticed Commander Nahailu and out-stretches his hand. Nahailu took the General's strong grip, "Good evening General, I am Commander Nahailu, commander of HCCV Forces in Zambia."
The hand-shake broke and the General spoke up, a clean speaker, "Nice to meet you Commander. I am General Unotobe, former Minister of Defense. I command all forces from here north to Kabwe and south to Mazabuka. Yesterday i sent a sizeable force to Namwala in the west, and should have it under control by tomorrow. I understand you are here to assume control of this divided nation?"
"Indeed we are General, but as probably know we are a small nation, bred from African warriors, but still lacking in manpower. Thats why we need men like you on our side. Naturally, once Zambia becomes a Colony of the Commowealth of Hirgizstan you will have a position of power within the colonial government. I assume, because you have supported us, you do not object to this nation becoming a colony?"
"No, I don't. Cape Verde, before De Rossa took over, was the most stable, and for its size prosperous, nations in the whole of Africa, now its under the control of Shanotogo, I can see the sense in colonizing this country, and indeed many of my soldiers have expressed elation at the thought, as the New Jyrians did not allow us much economic freedom, and as you can see, left this nation to rot. Now, to business, what is it you require of me?"
"Naturally General, you will be rewarded for your troubles, but i need to know what forces you command and where, at the moment, the trouble spots are and what we can do about it."
"I anticipated this and I have written an inventory of my forces." The General handed over a brown dossier. "At the moment the troublesome areas are Zambezi, and the surrounding area, and the areas directly north Lake Bangweulu. With the aircraft I have, and hopefully the aircraft we will bring under our control in Namwala, we will be able to strike these trouble spots quickly and decisively."
Nahailu nodded and the two men walked slowly toward the terminal to discuss the plans of action.

The Leopard tank halted. It had just passed the 20km mark away from the border, as a man with a large white flag appeared. The MBT stopped, and so did the DAF YPR-765 behind it. some men jumped off and aimed their AG3's at the soldier. The turret of the DAF slowly lowered into position, showing the barrel were 25mm rounds would flood out, if the soldier made one wrong movement.
"Drop your weapon! Hands on your head!"
Captain Langenberg slowly walked towards the soldier, and checked his papers. he then looked up to his counterparts on the MBT.
"General Charles Srananto, Head of the Nigerian High Command. What are you doing here, Mr. Srananto?"
The man looked down to his feet and signalled to the bushes. A lot of men came out, all hevaily wounded by shrapnel, which probably came off during bombardments. They had dropped their G3's already, and now came towards the Monegasque detachement. The General, which had seemed 30 at first, now looked like 70, and started talking as an old man.
"I headed my army down here. I was sent by Abuja, to battle you. I disobeyed orders while I was in Maiduguri, and declared an outlaw. I came here to surrender and join you against the New Jyrians. they have suppressed and held the Nigerian army in a tight grip, but we now want to join you. The Nigerian Army. at your service."
Langenberg looked puzzled after the declaration by the General. He then checked his men behind him and took one of the G3's. He pushed it back into the arms of the General and shook hands with him.
"Welcome to the Monegasque Army. You have been field-degraded to squad leader of your bunch for a while, after that, you can take up the lead of your army again, as the Monegasque authorities have authorised it. do you have your vehicles here?"
The General nodded, and signalled his men. the hevay roar and smoke of vehicles suddenly came dout of the woods, and two Vickers Mk3 tanks entered the main road, closely followed by some Saracen and Steyr armoured vehicles. The Leopard started his engine again and began to lead the convoy, followed by the Vickers tanks and the DAF and Saracens and Steyrs.

Lusaka International Airport/HCCV HQ, Lusaka, Zambia
Inside the terminal Commander Nahailu had been talking to General Unotobe for some time about the situation and how it had come to pass.
"General, you realise since your forces are now under HCCV command you will have to be demoted. I will give you the rank of Liutenant General, my rank, to you, is General. 'Commander' is a rank in the HLA, and not technically applicable anymore. Your forces are now part of the Hirgizstanian Military."
The Lt.General was silent for a moment. "I understand...General. To be honest we were sent into Lusaka as part of the New Jyrian Army, as there was intelligence an attack was coming. But once the New Jyrian Government fell i defected, but I felt aimless. Zambia was not a country, it is still divided. You have me and my men a...purpose, yes...purpose. We realise that we can keep our national heritage alive within Zambia, yet be part of a Commonwealth to make us strong and avoid corruption. In any case I'd like to get back to the city now, to see how my forces are getting on in Namwala. I trust you will set up a HQ with me in the city shortly?"
"Yes, I plan to. This is to be the airbase, so i suggest flying some of the fighters you have under your command down here. Once additional HCCV forces arrive I will join you in the capital. Keep me informed on the progress."
"Indeed, it will be done." Unotobe stood and shook hands with Nahailu before walking out to his Command Vehicle and taking off toward the exit.

Namwalu, on the Kafue River, west of Lusaka, Zambia
The city bore the debris of battle. Injured civilians sifted through burnt out buildings and carted boxes of food and bags of grain in overflowing wheelbarrows along the street. They lifted their heads in short smiles, a glimmer of hope, at the approaching HCCV soldiers, former New Jyrian military. Some civilians were wary, but the soldiers proclaimed, from banners on vehicles and via loudspeakers that they were under Hirgizstanian command, and were here to free, protect and help the populace.
Ragged children ran alongside the vehicles, chatting disconnectedly with wary looking soldiers.
In a muddy ditch on the banks of the Kafue a couple of Russian APC's lay bogged down into the mud, the back doors charred and hanging open, a charred body here and there, amongst the debris of battle.
Advance elements of the force reached the city centre and the boarded up City Hall. Outside were abandoned sandbagged emplacements, helmets, shell casings and some burnt out vehicles. The steps of the City Hall were occupied by a bunch of dejected looking rebels, leaning over their rifles, their eyes red, their faces dirty, bandages here and there.
One of them hobbled over to the wary looking recon soldiers. He eyed them up and stood waiting for them to notice him. One soldier did, a Luitenant, "Who are you people, what are you doing here?"
The man looked almost puzzled for a second before responding. "We're rebels, we rose up against retreating New Jyrian forces coming from Lusaka. We were ready to defend the city, but they weren't interested, but they still ploughed through us like water through wet mud. Killed most of us, raped people and burnt houses on the way. I hope you've brought medical supplies, the worst of the wounded are in the City Hall. Who are you in anyway?"
The young Lt. looked around for a second at the debris of battle. He could just about make out the loudspeakers and the roar of tanks engines coming from where they had just arrived. "We were New Jyrian military sent to garrison Lusaka, but we weren't going to fight for those bastards, not after they raped us of everything we owned for years. We're under Hirgizstanian Command now, they're from Cape Verde, they say they want to colonize us. And yes we have brought supplies. I need to move on, the rest of the force is behind me, tell them you've talked to us and they'll help you. Good day sir."
The Lt. hopped back into the jeep still ticking over and pulled out of the square.

Strictly military airstrips. That was the command given to the squadron of F-117’s and Fe-5’s on course from Botswana into Zimbabwe. The Fe-5’s were high, just above 50,000 feet, while the F-117’s were flying at a slightly lesser altitude. New Jyria’s military had, for the most part collapsed, leaving only a limited number of fanatics to defend its interest. Most of the former nation was under foreign attack with countries hoping to claim some land and money with relative ease. For the most part all was going well, with the neglect of the government most of them population favored change no matter the result. With that most of the military had simply left for home. The only true threat lay upon the Jyria Air Force. Although not large and hardly combat effective it was the only weapon within the Jyria arsenal to inflict heavy damage on Brink.
Since apathy had reign in Zimbabwe there were no people to man the radars or for that matter most anything else. The air assault went on without incident, with all Jyria airfields within the Plumtree surrounding eliminated. With the threat of an air strike out of the question Brink forces were free to move as they pleased whenever they please. Within no time they took full advantage. Two Ranger battalions headed by the 28 year old Ethan Raven were Para dropped five miles south of the city limits. Early reconnaissance photos showed the creation of static defenses along the outskirts of the city. The enemy was most likely military and government fanatics attempting their one last stand for their imploded nation. The Ranger units marched on foot for about an hour before reaching the city’s defending units. The upper hand was theirs but there was one slight problem. They were outnumbered almost 4-1, something not picked up on by high command. It was beginning to look a little Black Hawk Downish. However Raven was ready for this little problem, he’d simply raise hell.

Day 4: Topaz Campaign
The Bjornoyans were having tough luck in Gabon. Although the New Jyrian forces were weak and scattered, large amounts of guerilla forces took arms as soon as the New Jyrian government collapsed. All along the banks of the Gabon River, small guerilla forces took arms in an attempt to remain autonomous; some out of pride others so they could retain a fragile position of power. Reactions by the populace, and the nature of the guerillas differed from region to region. Certain towns upheld the guerillas as freedom fighters, others as mindless thugs who pillaged from their own. Reports from certain sectors confirmed the recruitment of children into the guerilla ranks. It was not a welcoming situation. For those whom the Bjornoyans cared about, the ill-equipped guerilla forces would be gassed with decently concentrated amounts of an anesthetic containing a propofol/fentanyl mixture during the night, after which the well equipped and well trained Bjornoyan Peacekeepers would move in, greatly reducing the amount of casualties. Otherwise, those designated as 'thugs' by the Federal Peacekeepers were to be dealt with appropriately.
By the following night, the Peacekeepers were expected to have cleared the Gabon River, and squash the remaining resistance in Libreville. Already, Visara Co. had sent vast numbers of necessities to the region. Meanwhile, the Bjornoyan Federal fleet off of Gabon had officially neutralized what remained of the New Jyrian navy, and succeeded in capturing a few minor vessels as well. A small contingency that would eventually become the Gabonian Coast Guard was started. The Bjornoyan Fleet had completed its primary objective, and could now focus on bombarding crucial military facilities within New Jyrian Gabon and Congo. The 21st Federal Peacekeeping Division was prepared to move hundreds of Marder APCs and Leopard MBTs down the principal routes to Lambarene. Meanwhile, the second largest coastal city in Gabon would be secured during the night using half of the 3rd Federal Marine Division along with the 17th and 19th Federal Peacekeeping Divisions.
Visara and the Federal Airforce were busy working on a way to get to Lusaka as well. Squadrons from the Bjornoyan fleet were diverted from non-essential missions to target possible AA sites along a set route to Lusaka from Bjornoyan Equatorial. 8 C-130H Hercules and 5 AN-225 Cossacks were to be escorted by an airwing of 8 F-15s, 10 EF-2000s, and 6 AV-8Bs. Although the night would decrease the accuracy of the airdrop, it would provide a decent amount of coverage; this supply line was not exactly unnoticeable.
Along with a decent amount of ammunition, HK UMP SMGs, HK G36 Assault Rifles, HK MG-43 Machine Guns, and the occasional PSG-1 Sniper Rifle, the Bjornoyans sent hordes of rations, clothing, and minor medical supplies. Upon each box, written in Bjornoyan was the quote, "So that the sacred order that governs the Heavens may be restored once again on Earth."
After climbing to a safe height, the air supply line flew other the vast New Jyrian landscape. Thousands of feet below, the night skies were filled with flak and the ground erupted with the explosions of incoming Bjornoyan cruise missiles. After a few hours, the planes began to descend. At 5,000ft as close to the Lusaka airport as they could predict, the air transports parachuted their supplies to assist the Hirgistani efforts, and made their way to designated U.S.B. airfields to re-fuel.

Maiduguri
The Vickers tanks slowly drove into the street, accompanied by the cheers of lots of men and women down the street, and high up in the buildings. Srananto and Langenberg, both now promoted to Field General, sat on top of the DAF YPR, waving at the crowds. they now had "liberated" Maiduguri from the sparsely spread New Jyrian troops.
On the other side of the city, New Jyrian troops tried to make their way out of it with brute force. they were however blocked by anothe rpart of Langenbergs force, equipped with new Leopards. In the sky up high, Monegasque F-16's battled enemy New Jyrian F-4's, leftovers of the once great airforce, an set on duty on the airport in Maiduguri, which had now been captured. The wing of 4 F-4's was forced to land on that same airfield by a group of 6 F-16C's, which had aimed their Sidewinders at them. quickly after other New Jyrian aircraft, which had been captured on-position at the airfield, the F-4's were took by Monegasque forces and sent to Khartoum for a complete check and to give it a different, Monegasque paint.
(OOC: I don't know what equipment New Jyria had, so... yeah, I assumed the worst. always comes in handy. btw, I now have secured Maiduguri, onto the next city, until we reach Porto Novo!)

It was raining supplies over the airport at Lusaka. Huge crates with stoic quotes written on them dropped from the sky under feathery parachutes. Newly arrived Hirgizstanian troops from Cape Verde watched their comrades race about in jeeps and civilian pick ups, collecting smaller crates and bigger ones, as they dismounted from cosy passenger planes.
The boxes were being unloaded in one of the hangars and weapons being stockpiled in ready built lockers, some being handed out to Officer's for inspection. The newly arrived troops, not from Praia, but from another island had not yet been issued with Norwegian weapons and were the first to get the spanking new HK G36 and MG 43 rifles, looking at them, beaming smiles to each other as they handed over their battered, dusty M16s.
Rations, medical supplies and clothes were loaded onto trucks from Lt. General Unotobe's units and were taken to Lusaka, where they would be distibuted to the needy populace. Other supplies were loaded onto Huey helicopters landing at the airport and were being ferried out to Namwala, Mazabuka and Mumbwa.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The four F-4C Phantom's were flown, for the first time, under Hirgizstanian colors, and the pilots felt a renewed sense of pride that on the opposite wing the flag of Zambia was emblazoned. The Hirgizstanian's might want to colonize that country, but at least they didn't try to stamp out a nations heritage, unlike the New Jyrians.
Zambezi was where they were headed for. New Jyrian troops were nowhere near the city, it was now clear that the force that had sacked Namwala was actually a Guerilla force, who had deserted from the New Jyrians as the country collapsed. Namwala had given them a below par reception, due to the fact the people in the city were weak from neglect, and the bastard Guerilla's had taken their frustrations out on the populace. They had been notably pissed off because Lt.General Unotobe had thrown them out of Lusaka, believing them to be nothing but New Jyrians.
The North East of the country, however, was where the New Jyrians were in stronger positions, at least they were believed to be New Jyrians.
The Phantom's spotted tank tracks on the roads and fields near Zambezi and came under inaccurate flak and AA fire closer to the city, before they turned back, and headed for Kalobo. The situation there was different. The city was in turmoil as Guerilla's were seemingly attacking it, at least it looked that way from the air. The Phantom's took care of heavy armor and artillery positions outside the town and radioed to Namwala that they should send recon forces immediately. The Phantom's landed at a freindly base in Kataba, commanded by a personal freind of Lt. General Unotobe.

The air armada moved in, escorted by F-37G Razor fighters. At long last, the many aircraft landed at Lusaka. After taxiing to their designated positions by the ground crew, the aircraft opened up and gulped out the vehicles and Hirgizstanian military personell. The disembarkation would be completed in two hours, after which the aircraft would be refuelled and the crews would rest untill next morning when the aircraft would return to Norway, unless needed more by the Hirgizstanians.

Lusaka International Airport, COH HQ, Zambia
The Lion tanks were driven to a nearby hangar and were checked over by their recently arrived crews. They would be loaded up with ammunition and supplies before being either stationed at the airport or driven out to Lusaka.
Aircraft and helicopters were now arriving at the airport, Phantom's, Skyhawks and rusting eastern hulks, barely flyable. Huey's still ferried troops and supplies out to Namwala and Kataba.
Near Zambezi, North Western Zambia
The recon troops, who had driven all night and most of the day from Namwala had wearily set up an OP in a wooded area overlooking the city. Gunfire and shell explosions had gone on all night and most of the early morning before petering out.
Now the recon roops observed the rebels dragging women screaming into houses, and forcing old men and children to watch young men being shot. Some were injured, others weren't, but the rebels went about their business regardless.
The recon troops had been told an armoured column and infantry were on the way but it would be nearly 10 hours before they even arrived in Kaoma. The rebels might be gone by then, but then again they might not.
Later in the day four cobra gunships and four Phantom jets had taken out the majority of the flak emplacements around the city and were now working on the stationery tanks spread across the vast expansive of the city. At dark the Cobra's and Phantom's withdrew for the last time, leaving the rebels to do their dastardly work while the helpless recon troops looked on, unable to do anything but watch and wait.

20 Km from Damaturu
A long line of Scimitar and Vickers tanks announced the Monegasque and Nigerian troops to reach Damaturu in a short while, while the F-4F's and F-16C's loomed above, in the darkness of the sky, in the middle of the night. Under them now rolled the Monegasque troops, which had created a line from Nguru in the North to Yulu in the south. They were making a good speed, and hadn't seen any New Jyrian soldier since they had been sent.
Somewhat further down the road, Loyalist guard members had entered Damaturu and walked down a long street leading from Maiduguri to Abuya. Under them were Langenberg and Srananto, which had insisted on capturing the community building together with the guards. Langenberg, still feeling somewhat strange in his guard suit, together with the Norwegian AG4, not his weapon at all, was now heading for the only large building in the city, or better said, village. Together with 10 other guards he bashed the door and walked in, adressing the man behind the desk.
"Captain Langenberg, my colleague Srananto. Monegasque Army. Do you have a Monegasque flag, or a Nigerian one wandering around somewhere?"
The man looked up from his work.
"I think so, sir. It has to be under this table."
The man got under his desk. He slowly got up moments later. As soon as Srananto saw the face of the man, he grabbed his .45 Colt pistol and shot him. Langenberg was shocked. He looked at the man, which had been carrying a Glock 17.
"I already thought that." Srananto commented, while he put the Glock under his belt, together with the Colt.
"Nice souvenir. Can get to work when we meet the New Jyrians."
At that moment, the door crackled and almost broke by the force. When the door was opened, a group of men in the New Jyrian army uniform stormed in. They held their M16's tight, and aimed for the Loyalist Guards, which, at their turn, aime dthe AG4's at the New Jyrians.
"Drop your weapon or we will shoot!" The Guards shouted while the New Jyrians did the same. what the New Jyrians didn't expect, was General Srananto. He grabbed both his Colt and his Glock, and emptied a few rounds on the soldiers. Some of the men dropped down, while others didn't knew who to aim for. At that moment, Langenberg joined Srananto, by opening fire with his AG4. The New Jyrians were quickly took out, except one. He surrendered with his hands on his head and got to say that Damaturu, and the provinces Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Bauchi and Yigawa now were secure to the Monegasque forces, as he, the Commander of the Northeastern Nigeria Taskforce now surrendered, together with his colleagues in the other cities.

Map of Gabon (http://www.africa-expedition.com/images/ct/gabon-map.jpg) Gabon River=Como River
The morning gave news of tremendous success for the Bjornoyan Federal troops. During the night, large quantities of the propofol/fentanyl anesthetic were sprayed amongst the various guerilla strongpoints along the Gabon River. The more 'innocent' guerilla forces were for the most part captured and shipped behind the lines as POW. Others whom the reconnaissance observed pillaging neighboring villages and forcing children to take arms were either shot as they slept, or would be put on public trial after the war. The hastily prepared guerilla forces were unequipped for such an attack. The gas had the beneficial quality of knocking out those of smallest body weight first, minimizing and in most cases eliminating youth casualties. Regardless of the plan, there were of course casualties. Some of the residents of villages where guerilla forces were residing took too much of the gas, which eventually led to severe brain damage and death. Reports told of two Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers squads who choose to die by the guns of child-combatants than risk the nightmares of living after killing them.
Along the coast, Libreville had been secured, and forces were pushing their way into Lambarene. The other major coastal city, Port-Gentil, was secured during the night by the 3rd Federal Marine Division along with the 17th and 19th Federal Peacekeeping Divisions. The 3rd Marine Division along with the 17th would rest, and in two days depart for Mayumba.
Back on Fernando Póo, Herrgott-General Ayodele Uchenna received word that the supplies sent to Lusaka had been received, and received well. It was a minor gesture, but hopefully would bring a bit of stability and unity to the shattered region.
Time was becoming more of a factor. Everyday, aerial and ground reconnaissance reported the build-up of gang and guerilla forces within the un-liberated regions of New Jyria. Deep within the D.R.C., scouts had confirmed the rise of a certain ruthless former general of New Jyria to power by the name of Shomari Jahari. The former general had more or less killed anyone who opposed him and rallied the remainder of the New Jyrian forces in the D.R.C., proclaiming himself the 'dictator' of the nation. Knowing the capabilities of his adversaries, the dictator kept hidden from view, and moved constantly. Herrgott-General Ayodele Uchenna called upon Visara Co. CEO Wilhelm Kaufmann to assign a single 'Assassin' agent to take care of the threat. He would allow the dictator to assemble his forces, and just before the main push into the D.R.C. the dictator would be killed, leaving the forces a leaderless mass.
The mysterious 'Assassin' unit, created, owned, and operated by Visara Co. was almost the opposite of their highly moralized and obedient comrades that made up the ranks of the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers. The unit was a tightly knit group of religious fanatics, who still upheld the basic principles of the religion that was their namesake. 'Nothing is true, everything is permissible;' the Assassins viewed the elimination of all their enemies not merely as a religious task, but as a religious duty, and justified the use of any possible means. Highly skilled in the arts of shadow-walking, disguise, and torture, a single member could sow the seeds of chaos and discord amongst an entire army, if used correctly. The hardest part of using one of these agents was the task of returning him from whence he came.

After Zambia, Congo, Gabon, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria have been secured, we believe a combined push into the vast D.R.C. would be the most effective means of neutralizing the remaining New Jyrian forces. We propose that Hirgistani forces move along the eastern provinces of the D.C.R. while Bjornoyan troops move in from the Congo and Monegasque forces move into the northernmost provinces from Sudan. I believe they are already making progress there, but to secure the entire region will require more soldiers and resources.

With the vast number of nations engulfing New Jyria it was beginning to look like a coalition of sorts liberating a third-world country. New Jyria was some what prominent during its peak but over the years it has slowly decayed without the proper government to care for its many rising needs. Now the many problems were being addressed by the many armies now swiftly enveloping the country side.
Raven studied the positions with a pair of Hi-IIS binoculars. It was quiet, the enemy unsuspecting of an attack. The first row of houses was about 300 yards away. They were simple, two story town homes with a few fences and trenches in front of them just a few yards. Most of the windows were shut, yet some lacked windows all together. Whether it was do to poverty or military purposes was unknown nor did it matter. Only one soldier manned his gun which happened to be Russian Dragonov, a sniper. (Didn’t know how to spell nor did I feel like looking it up) He hadn’t spotted Raven yet nor his men who were crouching behind a couple of sand dunes. There was T-40 under some camo netting which was obviously done by a civilian. He had estimated the size of the encampment, about 5,000 men to his 600. The way he figured it was a couple of F-22’s should even the odds a little bit.
The explosion scattered the lot. With the element of surprise gone the Rangers opened up everything they had and quickly overran the defenders who were still alive. It was a bloodbath, the local fanatics no match for the professionalism of the Rangers. The battle last about 20 minutes. Within an hour the entire city had been secured. Sporadic gunfire echoed throughout the day but did little harm. The Rangers had secured Plumtree. Still there were no forces available to make a thrust into Zimbabwe. A division had been allotted from the 5 being activated from new recruits to serve in the assault yet it would not be ready for some time. However there were talks of a cease-fire on the eastern front which would free up numerous soldiers to fight. The annexation was not thought to be tough but Brink would take no chances.

Within 48 hours the Armoured Columns and artillery had arrived from Namwala and had begun forcing the Guerillas into a defensive cordon set up around the city of Zambezi by troops dropped in by helicopter.
The tanks had been joined again by Cobra Attack helicopters and in only a few short hours the entire Guerilla force had been wiped out within the city. They had misused their Armor and had paid dearly for it. They also had tried to retreat and had run into mortar fire and machine guns from the edges of the city. In just a few hours the entire Western part of the country had fallen under Hirgizstanian Control. Now medical supplies were being flown to Zambezi to treat the traumatised and brutalised population. Cities and towns north of Zambezi were also receiving treatment.

Topaz Campaign: Day 6 (http://0601.netclime.net/1_5/H/U/D/godmod.mid)
Another day of success fell gracefully into the Bjornoyan's hands. The entire coast of Gabon had been secured after the surrender of New Jyrian forces in Mayumba. Progress into the depths of the Gabon jungles was shoddy. The Bjornoyans secured the minor villages along the major pathways and rivers, but left tiny scraps of resistance within the region to be dealt with by the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers bringing up the rear.
A long line of Marders, Humvees, and supply trucks stretched from Libreville into the city of Lambarene. The bulk of the Bjornoyan forces had moved rapidly after securing the major coastal region down the major routes into Ndende in the south, Lara in the east, and Bitam in the north. Half of Gabon was under Bjornoyan control, and within days the rest would be as well.
Along the coast, the first land-based steps to acquire the Congo were taken, sending the 3rd Marine and 17th Peacekeeping Division into the coastal cities of Ponte Noire and Madingo-Kayes. The coastal region of the Congo was scheduled to be taken by tommorow.
Visara Corporation no only sent military specialists to the region, but their advertising and commercializing specialists as well. The very source of Bjornoya's stability came from Visara's monopoly on all form of communication. Once established in the region, the citizens were under its spell. Visara Co. CEO Wilhelm Kaufmann was a master of manipulating humanity to any ends. The hope would be to establish a crude copy of the Utopia that was the Bjornoyan mainland.
Meanwhile, a single Hercules transporter cruised at 35,000 feet. Cloaked within a thick latex suit, Assassin agent 24601 Devon Soores prepared himself for a tremendous dive. Only supplied with a RSB silenced pistol, combat knife, parachute, and a days worth of rations, once on the ground agent 24601 would have to fend for himself. His task: to kill Shomari Jahari, the emerging leader of the remaining forces in New Jyrian D.R.C. and as many of his lackies as he could get away with. Landing just west of Lusambo near the banks of the Sankuru, the agent would follow the trail of Shomari Jahari, who by intelligence reports was last seen leaving the area to head south-west.

Nigeria
Progress was slow after the surrendered provinces had been took. The New Jyrian force became more organized. The Monegasque forces only had marched some 100km from the borders of the surrendered provinces, and were thought to make only 10km a day now, as rainforest began to get the main enemy of the Monegasque forces. instead of organized human resistance, the Monegasques mainly had problems with the weather and their surroundings. AFV's getting stuck into mud, IFV's almost drowning in unknown rivers, created by the rain season. Therefore, some men of the Monegasque Terraforce landed in Abuja and Porto Novo, using C-141B and C-130H aircraft. They however only had secured the airports of the respective cities, as New Jyrian resistance there was better organized than in the rainforest, and much more thougher. Monegasque troops hoped that the Nigerian New Jyrian Forces would surrender....

Lt.General Unotobe was delighted, visibly so, at the success of the campaign in the west. The Guerilla forces had been wiped out in a desperate last stand in Zambezi. Now his attention was turned to the East. General Nahailu was expected to arrive any minute, and Unotobe had yet more good news from the North East.
Nahailu arrived on board a newly arrivd Gramstad APC and inspected the assembled troops in ther sprawling military base in Lusaka. He kept his cap on his head with his hands as helicopters took off and landed nearby and ran quickly into a nearby building, where Lt.General Unotobe was waiting.
Inside both men shook hands, Nahailu congratuled Unotobe for his success in the west and both men chatted for a while about the situation there.
General Nahailu couldn't help but notice the elation displayed by Unotobe.
"General, exactly what are you so elated about, I know the western campaign was a success, but we still have nearly half the country to deal with in the east?"
A huge smile then creased Unotobe's face. "There is good news from the east. A dear freind of mine commanded the military everywhere north of the Chambeshi River, he took command of the splintered factions there after thr New Jyrians fell, and he has agreed to support us. His name is Colonel Golonga. He has informed me that a sizeable New Jyrian force has made a base in the city of Mpika and has been foraging into Lundazi. He has agreed to make a joint strike on both these cities if that is what you wish General."
General Nahailu considered the situation for a while, looking at maps and intelligence reports for some time. The fact is Hirgizstanian forces could be ambushed anywhere from Kapiri to Mpika. Finally the General decided on a stategy. "General Unotobe, we will launch an air campaign first of all, ensuring the cities between here and Mpika are freindly, we will then send in aircraft to attack the new Jyrians in Mpika before sending in recon forces by helicopter. We will, at the same time, move forces from Cape Verde and Lusaka into position west of Mpika and have Colonel Golonga move a sizeable force into position North of the city, before bombarding Mpika for a day or so.Then we will launch a joint attack on Mpika with forces from Colonel Golonga. Once Mpika is taken we can then begin to bombard Lundazi and decide when and where to attack."

Bulawayo
The air force conducted the same techniques as before. The redundant aerial assault was supposed to leave what Jyrian military was still left in utter shock and confusion. For the most part this down pour of lead worked. With no organization in the southern parts of Zimbabwe added with hardly any troop numbers it was simply a numbers game between New Jyria and USB. Regardless of the spirit of the fanatical insurgents there simply wasn’t enough to do significant damage. With this in mind the high command kept pushing from city to city reusing old tactics with great effectiveness. With most of the organized resistance in the northern areas of the New Jyrian territory it was only insurgency that worried the USB military command.
Under heavy mortar and RPG fire USB troops moved into the city of Bulawayo. They came under concentrated small arms fire which was suspected in such an important city. Within a few hours the battlefield was littered with the dead and decaying vehicles. Casualties were low but command was upset over the slow progress, the Jyrian guerillas were putting up a stiffer fight than had been thought. As night fell the raids began. The fighting slowed but sporadic machine gun fire lit up city streets and kept everyone on edge. Organized patrols cleared roads and brought in vital intelligence. The next morning with insurgent strongholds identified M1/D Abrams rolled in to reduce them to rubble. Since the government wanted as little collateral damage as possible it was hard to use the armor as would be most effective and also eliminated the possibility of air strikes and artillery. Nevertheless it would provide a stable ground on which to start winning over the hearts of the local populace. Civil Affairs units were constantly being brought to the front to quell any rebellion and help in cooperation. These units were highly trained and highly effective, and true genius for this campaign.
By nightfall the city was under USB control. The roadways and rail links were being repaired at a constant rate to allow travel of armor and infantry. Already the air force began its next offensive which would lay the ground work for the next set of attacks. These assaults would final break off into separate directions with hopes of quickly enveloping Zimbabwe. The next 3 cities on the list were: Gweru (313th), Eastnor (501st), and Gwanda (502nd).

Three helicopters had been shot down in the valley of the Luangwa River, between Mpika and Lundazi, that was all the proof needed to begin immediate actions against the area. Operation Swift Turnover was underway.
Around 500 T-72's, 1000 T-55's, hundreds of BMP-1s and 2s, as well as thousands of soldiers, with artillery and heavy mortars, began to move into positions South West of Mpika.
North of Mpika Colonel Golonga had begun to move over 2000 tanks, including 1000 newer T-80U's, and M113 APC's into position south of the Chambeshi River. Artillery from both areas had already begun to shell Mpika and an air campaign was underway, trying to destroy dug in positions and enemy tanks before the main assault.
Refugees lined the main roads out of Mpika, telling of the horrors the New Jyrians had inflicted on them, getting worse as the end grew nearer. Soon the country would be taken, but the New Jyrians were holding out...with their last breaths.

In the early hours of the morning, as the sun was barely above the horizon, the tanks and troops started rolling and the heavy barrage was lifted over Mpika. Attack helicopters, medevacs and aircraft rolled and dived about overhead, protecting the numerous advancing columns as they entered the suburbs of the sprawling, low level city.
Colonel Golonga's tanks had encountered heavy fire in the North but were progressing well. The New Jyrians were being overwhelmed.
Things were thrown into sharp dissarray with the enemy as the sun rose its head and bathed the town in a lukewarm glow. Plumes of smoke rose high into the air, the carnage from the artillery barrage was plain to see. Trenches and fortifications had been destroyed throughout the city. Aircraft and helo's now prowled above the city, firing their missiles and guns on targets of oppurtunity as the two forces began their push into the city.
Resistance was surpirsingly light. Most of the New Jyrians in the city had lost the will to fight, tired and dazed from several days of constant and devastating artillery fire.
Part of General Golonga's force had flanked around the city and was headed toward Lundazi where an F-4 had spotted a column of men, jeeps and some armor headed once the battle began.
Golonga's men caught up with the retreating column in the outskirts of Lundazi, they were taken by surprise and it took only a few hours to finish the battle.
Mpika and Lundazi had been secured by sundown, Zambia was now the newest addition to the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan.
Now General Nahailu looked North toward the ominous Congo, and south towards northern Zimbabwe.

The offensives began in earnest, all commencing under the cover of nightfall. The attacks met surprisingly stiff resistance off the bat most notably Gweru. Gweru was the deepest city in Zimbabwe in which USB forces were engaged. The 313th was slow in its approach and paid the price. Small arms fire and sporadic mortar fire peppered the advance. Near daybreak the attack was called off and various units redeployed and rearmed. Since there was no fear of any real counter-attack the commanders were doing it by the book. There was no need to take chances in such a one sided battle. As dawn broke over the horizon it revealed a shattered city, fire and smoke blanketed the sky. A constant roar of Apache attack helicopters echoed throughout the remainder of the day. With support of heavy armor in the form of M1A5 Abrams the city soon fell under USB control. With that the 313th fell into mopping up operations and set plans for its next operation. It would be splitting its force into two sending one half into Mvuma and the other west to Shurugwi.
The other two units fared much better than the 313th. Their attacks, which also started during the night, quickly subdued the local resistance by midday. New Jyria military forces were not built up in those areas and the only resistance was from government fanatics. With that in mind the battle fell mostly to the Civil Affairs battalions now moving in. These units were the pride and joy of the USB armed forces having been trained in the art of civil affairs. The soldiers could speak various languages and had degrees in varying subjects such as engineering and political science. It was up to them to quickly make contact with local leaders and provide to their needs. With the neglect of the New Jyrian government obvious the trick was not winning over their hearts but simply show them that USB was there to help not oppress. With no signs of insurgency the two divisions were already sending forward elements into their next objectives: Lupane and West Nicholson.

The Zimbabwean offensive was launched from the city of Feira, south of Lusaka.
The 1-5th Corps of the 1st Army attacked with rapid force, their spearhead units of M1A5 Fuhrer-Abrams tanks (not the same as yours USB) and M5's ensured swift movement all the way down the Manyame River valley. Resistance was surprisingly light compared to what the military had been through in Zambia.
The Corps split along the valley, 1st Corps heading to the city of Mhangura, 2nd Corps heading to Zawi, 3rd Corps heading to Chinhoyi and the 4th and 5th Corps struck down the valley toward Kidonan.
All four cities had been captured with minimal resistance by dawn the next day.
Now began the task of the Air Force to begin bombing the main forces in Harare into submission.
The word from refugees was that the New Jyrian remnants were using mercenary forces from Zambia to help push back any attacks on the key capital city.
For days on end Artillerry, tanks, troops and supplies would por down the river valley and train lines to Kidonan, preparing for an all out assault on the city of Harare, once the air force had mopped things up.

1) Bjornoya secures territories indpendentally in region before DRC
2) Hirgizstan secures his territories in Chad, Zimbabwe, and Zambia: Rwanda? if you want to add it here. (claim the small city inside of your borders in Zimbabwe if you haven't yet, check the map)
3) USB Secures lands in Zimbabwe and Sudan (ditto for you, check Zimbabwe map)
4) N.J. Despot is assasinated within D.R.C.

Near Harare...
In the blazing heat of the afternoon the heavy artillery guns were silenced and the roar of tank engines and the heavy beat of boots on hard packed mud was all that could be heard.
In the distance the roar of aircraft and helicopters was but a whisper in the brush. The attack to secure Zimbabwe's biggest city, and to crush the New Jyrians forever, was under way.
The Infantry Corps battled their way into the city, using tanks to shatter the flimsy barricades of old cars and furniture, rebels and New Jyrians scattered into the city, being hounded and chased to the edge of the city, where more troops lay in wait, gunning the retreating rebels down and rounding up any survivors.
Aircraft took care of the vehicles and armor attempting to break out of the city and within a few hours the last shots could be heard echoing across the city, amid plumes of black and white smoke.
Harare was taken.
On the same day in Northern Zambia the first Hirgizstanian forces began to push into the souther DRC to secure the provinces.

The air over Lubumbashi in the southern province of Katanga was alive and buzzing with the sound of helicopters swooping in and out of the city, disgorging troops onto the ground, tanks rolling in from the southern end of the city. The air was filled with the shouts of soldiers, the roar of tank turbines, rotor blades and the sound of Break on Through (To The Other Side) by The Doors.
Somewhere in the distance a quad of A-10D Super-Warthogs could be heard tearing through the sky, their super powered mini-guns ripping retreating armor to shreds.
The New Jyrians and DRC rebels were retreating North toward the province of Sud-Kivu. They only heard the distant hum of the B-52's as they dropped hundreds of thousands of pounds of ordnance on the main highway between Lubumbashi and Fizi.
Two days later the highway was alive with the sound of revving bulldozer engines pushing burned out hulks into ditches at the side of the road, where they were lifted onto trucks to be carted away and dumped. 'The Highway of Death' stretched from Lubumbashi almost all the way to Fizi. It was littered with hundreds of bodies, cars, buses, tanks, armor and all other manner of vehicle.
In Nord-Kivu the rebels had surrendered along with the small band of wounded New Jyrian soldiers that managed to make it all the way up North.
The DRC had finally been taken, and so ended another Chapter in the Commonwealth's history.

Topaz Campaign: 6 Months Later (http://0301.netclime.net/1_5/0/6/J/Battle.mid)
The exhausted members of the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers had somehow managed to seize Gabon, Congo, and Nigeria by capturing the coastal regions and cutting off supplies to rebel forces in the interior. By the time of the final collapse of Nigeria's last resisting factions the Feds knew their forces were far to decentralized, demoralized, and depressed to continue their work when they heard Angola was to be taken. The northern region was aquired through peaceful negotiations, but the south remained in disarray after yet another government collapse. Herrgott Jacksehn Hegel met with regional leaders and decided the best solution would regretably be to get Visara Security forces involved. Although less trained mentally as the Peacekeepers, Visara Co Security Forces now outnumbered the Federal Military and were seeing some sort of frontline action in the Baltics. Herrgott Wilhelm Kaufmann, CEO of Visara pledged his support for taking parts of the DRC and Angola. The seizure would end up being less humane than the work of the Peacekeepers.
In the mainland the Bjornoyan populace had grown weary of the burden being placed on them by their government. The distant territories to them at first seemed like disobedient children who needed some nurture and guidance, but as body counts rose the sympathy for the region had faltered. Angola would feel Visara's harsh disciplinary actions.
Nobody expected Visara to accomplish what they did, but they did it. Paying off high-ranking officials for valued information, then disposing of them once they were finished Visara ruthlessly bombarded known and beleived military facilities within the region for days on end. By the time VisaraCo. Security forces moved in the targets had been reduced entirelly into molten piles of grey ash. There would be no need for burials, as none of the bodies remained intact to be buried. The populace quivered as Visara Co. Security Forces made their way through the streets, violently putting down local protests by the locals. Wilhelm Kaufmann demanded an explanation for the actions of his troops. Even he was angered by what had occurred, this was not in Bjornoya's character. Wilhelm went through the tedious task of surveying the ranks to see if this was an isolated incident or not, and who might have been in control. Visara Co. Security forces did not maintain as strict a hierarchy as the military in the upper echelons which presented a problem. With such a vast sprawling bureacracy it was hard to keep track of humanity with it and within it.
The region would resent the occupation for years to come.
Rumors of the destruction of Angola's military spread through the DRC. Much of the region had already been secured by Hirgistani forces which the Bjornoyan Federal Peacekeepers were thankful for. Showing the typical Bjornoyan tactics the region would be slowly secured after the assassinations of a handful of New Jyrian leaders that remained. The populace watched wearily with fear, but soon found the Peacekeepers were nothing like what the rumors had spoken of.

Hirgizstanian Forces began the assault on Malawi during the afternoon. Refugees had already been lining the closed border for days before the Greater Valian Government collapsed. They knew the end was coming and wanted to be out of the way.
The Army's morale was at an all time high after having captured a hefty part of the DRC in only a few days, and they were eager to begin moving on their next target.
Now Hirgizstanian tanks, helicopters and aircraft burst across the plains between Zambia and Malawi. From Lundazi troops struck out North East toward Mzimba and Luwawa. From Chipata, further south, troops burst into Malawi, heading for Mchinji, to secure the vital railway line between there and the capital, Llongwe, around 50 Km South East of Mchinji.
Mchinji was taken without incident and the symbols of Greater Valian oppression were torn down and burned by the people. However, further North things were going a lot less smoothly. The Greater Valian Artillery was bombarding Mzimba and their Air Force was causing havoc to advancing troops.
However, HAF planes were re-routed from Mchinji to support the advance to Luwawa and the Greater Valians were engaged and forced to swiftly withdraw. B-52's were escorted, by fighters, all the way to Mzuzu, where the enemy aircraft had come from. The Airfield there was bombed into a smouldering wreck of its former self.
By evening the day after the attack the Hirgizstanian front line stretched from Mzimba all the way down to Mchinji, which was most of the border area. The Greater Valians were in dissarray.
Hirgizstan
25-01-2006, 20:20
Mzuzu was a smoking wreck of a city by the time the 3rd Army's tanks rolled in and began tending to the wounded and starving civilians. Relics of the Greater Valian society lay ruined everywhere, statues, emblems, crests...even uniforms lay everywhere.
People were looting former Government buildings as the Hirgizstanian MP's moved in and put a swift end to looting by shooting any looters on sight, without warning.
A-10's and Raptors could be heard buzzing about in the skies above the sprawling city, headed for Nkhata Bay where the Greater Valians were retreating to. A couple of F-15's also swooped in low over Lake Nyasa, blowing up the coastal patrol vessels that were making a run out of the port at Nkhata Bay.
At Mchinji things were going slower. Llongwe was being bombed day and night as forces built up at Mchinji. One of the few Railroad Guns in the Commonwealth, sat in a large siding in Mchinji, tearing the sky apart as it fired its unbeleviable large rounds every few minutes. The small city shook to its foundations as the Cannon, nicknamed 'Bertha', fired toward Llongwe. It was more to scare the Greater Valians that to do lasting damage.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back in Niamey, however, there had been a public outcry over an incident involving an amputee helicopter pilot. The man in question, Edward Jones, had lost both legs and the use of his right hand when his helicopter had been hit by a Stinger Missile over Mpika in Zambia some weeks ago.
The man had discharged himself from the military and had broken out of a hospital in Niamey and had driven his car to the Colonial 1st Minister's City Hall, where he proceeded to climb on top of the vehicle and sit down, producing a bullhorn. He began to shout about how bad the war was going and how bad the tactics were, began to make traitorous statements.
Soon a crowd had gathered in within minutes he was being pelted with stones and bottles from every direction. The police then cordoned off the area, forcing the crowd back. A black INDIAN Sedan arrived and two men in black leather overcoats with black Officer's peaked caps got out of the car.
Mr.Jones saw them and tried to scramble off the car, but he was caught and dragged onto the street. He was taken to the car and shoved inside before being driven off. The man's car was later put on fire by an angry crowd. Public complaints had been lodged all over the city about how the Government had failed to protect citizens from lies and had failed to notice the unstable symptoms of the man in question.
Mr. Jones was executed by firing squad three days later for Treason.
Despite this isolated incident morale at the front remains high as swift and decisive progress is made in Malawi, expanding African territories further.

What started as a full at assault on a collapsing government now turned into a small mopping up operation. The battle was clearly won; all that was left was time. Sure it was easy to say this to a politician but to the soldier that got shot or the civilians affect back home it wasn’t even close to “mopping up”. The biggest battle now lay with the media which distorted the overall mood of the population. In all respect this war had much more gain with practically no huge risk save that of the individual soldier. Many people had been fine with it until words such as imperialism had started to spread. Although it was true, it wasn’t imperialism on genocidal scale or anything close. In fact there was almost no non-combat deaths. Still the Media persisted and still the war continued.
It wouldn’t be until the newly elected president, a prominent black woman from the Ovambo tribe name Sarah Ovambo, that the fighting would die down. With pressure from the media and government Ovambo quickly called a halt along all fronts. The units would remain, yet only to insure peace until a smooth transition could occur. After the dust settled USB had control of 4 regions within Zimbabwe including, Masvingo, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Midlands. Although the government would have liked to keep all, it wasn’t in the cards and in no way was it worth fighting over. The war ended up not being referred to as a war by the populace but rather ‘manifest destiny’. The overall goal was to create a nation that controlled the entire South African region. Regardless, every nation in and around that area outnumbered the peoples of Brink considerably. Just as well the people of Brink were a very peaceful nation and would never agree to such a path. Nevertheless the country was growing and the new president saw this. With the situation in Zimbabwe well under control it was time to turn USB in a new direction.
The people of Zimbabwe had been ruled by a negligent and weak government and because of this their lives had been ruined. It was no surprise that resistance would be slim to none. It seemed most of the fanatics were more north trying to halt encroachment there to no avail. Now the people understood what it was to be truly free. The United States of Brink was one of, if not the most, free nation on Earth. With this in mind Zimbabwe culture was not shunned but rather incorporated into USB thus expanding its heritage and prestige. The end of the operation came as a celebration and reconstruction began in earnest. It was a new chapter for both nations.
President Ovambo now turned to their new neighbors most important Bjornoya. She pleaded for unarmed borders with Brink, a free and peaceful nation. This border would be an Earth first and show the world that nations could coexist. She also asked for free trade agreements. She wanted to grow a friendship with the fellow nations.

Soliders and Airmen could see the smoking city of Llongwe for miles before they cam close. Streams of bedgraggled refugees lined the large road-banks, tanks sat smouldering in the plains outside the city, artillery guns and AA batteries ringed the city, just twisted hulks of blackened metal.
Inside the city the Greater Valians had retreated to the centre, to the large Government buildings and were hastily trying to defend against tanks, aircraft and artillery. For hours the building was pounded, and just before dusk the Greater Valians gave up the ghost, surrendering. They came out in long lines, dusty, injured, ears bleeding and bleary eyed. The Air Force blared over the city chasing some breakaway tanks that made it out of the city.
The next afternoon the Greater Valians capitulated and Malawi formally came under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Hirgizstan.
