Have more territory than you have troops to patrol it? A long windy border, ripe for spies and illegal aliens to sneak through? Unable to afford security guards at your labs due to your massive research budget? Then the TA-Series weapons platforms are for you! Using the latest in computer recognition software, the TA Weapons Platforms will keep borders secure, defend vital installations, and prevent property damage from low-quality guidance systems! On sale soon at the Pale Rider Arms Ultimate Storefront (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=454065)!

TA-100: Anti-Infantry Automated Weapons System
TA-110: Anti-Vehicular Automated Weapons System
TA-120: Multi-Purpose Automated Weapons System (Coming Soon!)
TA-200: Universal Mount Automated Weapons System

TA-100

Height: 1.4 meters
Width: 1.8 meters
Length: 2.3 meters
Armament: Twin Beltfed 20mm Flak Cannon
Ammunition: 2000 rounds/cannon (4000 total)
Rate of Fire: 240 rpm (480 rpm alternating)
Monitoring Devices: Laser rangefinder, motion sensor
Traverse: 120 degrees
Elevation: +/- 30 degrees
Traverse Rate: 60 degrees/second

Armed with what amount to giant shotguns, the TA-100 defends the perimeters of Otagian installations around the world. Unmanned, the TA-100 will fire upon any valid target entering its field of view, a 120 degree arc in front of it.

The TA-100 operates by using a motion sensor to detect possible targets. When it detects movement, the laser rangefinding grid activates, determining the range to the target, and gauges its height by interpreting where each beam is intercepted. If the target fits within accepted parameters (generally any target no smaller than .6m x .4m and no larger than 3m x 1.2m), the pair of 20mm flak cannons open fire, thoroughly shredding their target. Ten shots are fired, then the cannons pause to determine if their target is still moving. If he is, another 10 rounds are fired. If he is not, the turret returns to sentry mode.

TA-110

Height: 1.8 meters
Width: 3.2 meters
Length: 3.2 meters
Armament: Twin Autoloading 90mm smoothbore cannons
Ammunition: 40 rounds/cannon (80 rounds total)
Rate of Fire: 20 rpm (40 rpm alternating)
Monitoring Devices: Laser rangefinder, motion sensor
Traverse: 120 degrees
Elevation: +/- 20 degrees
Traverse Rate: 60 degrees/second

Similar to the TA-100 Anti-Personnel Automated Turret, the TA-110 defends Otagian installations across the world. Larger than the TA-100, the 110 mounts a pair of 90mm smoothbore cannons. The standard programming is likewise changed, targeting only movements larger than mansized in order to prevent overkill. The standard loadout is APFSDS or HEAT rounds. The weapon will fire one shot from each barrel, then determine whether or not the target is still moving. If it is, two more shots are fired. If not, it returns to sentry mode.

The TA-110 is occassionally reprogrammed, targetting human-sized targets. When this is done, the TA-110 is usually outfitted with Beehive rounds instead of HEAT and APFSDS.

TA-200

Height: 1.2 meters
Width: 3.2 meters
Length: 3.2 meters
Armament: UMWS Socket
Ammunition: Varies
Monitoring Devices: Laser rangefinder, motion sensor, other
Traverse: 360 degrees
Elevation: varies
Traverse Rate: 90 degrees/second

Utilizing the PRA Universal Modular Weapons System, the TA-200 is the most versatile of all Pale Rider automated turrets. The TA-200 consists of the standard TA-series base, containing a motion sensor and laser rangefinder system used to sense targets. However, this variant does not contain the computer system to determine which targets are appropriate or to fire the weapon. Instead, each UMWS contains software containing the targeting constraints to be used with the TA-200. The variant turret on the TA-200 also allows for faster traverse speed, due to the lower need for recoil compensation.

What would be necesarry to acquire limited production rights for variations on these systems?
Addittionally, how hardened are the platforms themselves against EMP type attacks, Microwave weapons, anti tank weapons and other ranged explosive weapons of that type?

Hardening is equivalent to 600mm RHA in most areas, and electronic systems are located in a Faraday Cage to mitigate damage from electromagnetic weaponry. As for the production rights, the TA-series has not yet left the prototype stage, although we expect it to shortly. Pricing information will be made available then.

So this are robot/mechas designed for homeland defense and offense right? How much do they cost?

OOC:
i think that they are more akin to the fixed "sentry" guns from Aliens as opposed to mobile weapons platforms.

As to the designs they seem quite good, personally i would debate using the 20mm guns and mount a pair of 25mm OCSW (XM309IIRC) but thats just me. And yes they are perfectly feasible in MT, you could even biuld soemthing similar at home using an sony eye toy (or any other webcam type device), a tiny bit of porgramming, abit of wood/metal work, some gears and an airsoft gun...

After reviewing your Automated Weapons Platform, we would like to inquire as to how many units of each you recommend for a border 1,740 kilometers (1,081.4 miles) long. The terrain of the border is mostly forested, with occational mountains and plains. We would like to know the ideal number of units, and rest assured. Money is not an issue for us. Thank you in advance.

Maybe, but in order to be useful with MT technology it would also lock onto things like animals and other moving objects that could be used to fool the motion sensors.

Due to the size restrictions in its programming, only large animals or objects would be fired upon, minimizing collateral damage and wasting little ammunition. One would need a roughly man-sized object to fool the sensors, which rules out thrown objects and small animals as well as vehicles with the TA-100, and is even more pronounced with the TA-110, which will only fire on vehicular targets.

PRA suggests deploying these turrets in clusters of three (two TA-100s, one TA-110) to maximise firepower and line of sight. Reccommended deployment for maximum coverage would be to space them at an average of 100 meters, strategically placed. This allows for overlapping fire arcs and uninterrupted coverage. Depending on terrain, the distance may be increased or decreased, still resulting in an average of 100 meters. Thus, for your nation, we would recommend perhaps 52,200 platforms. We will attempt to obtain pricing information for an endeavor such as this as soon as possible.

OOC: Nope, sentry guns, like Strath said. The things are immobile. As a side note, the TA stands for Turret, Automated. As for cost, it has yet to be determined, although it will probably run somewhere around $30,000 per platform (rough estimate).
