OOC: Is there a system for the location of planets on NS? I have seen mentions of giving coordinates, but never actually giving anything. I was thinking about an approach to this that is slightly IC, but also OOC. Here we could have a discussion, IC and OOC about coordinates.

I was thinking about centering it on an uninhabited system, that could eventually become a center of trade.This system would have the coordinates 0,0,0. I have more ideas but I will shut up now.

All I ever did was RP people gettting there and already knowing coordinates. It's nearly impossible to put in a system, because things change constantly, too many people, and no one really wants to limit themselves.

The only problems with a definative co-ordinate system is that no one is that much of the universe is made up, while every/many nations have vastly different refrence points as 0,0,0. Likewise unless 1 unit along an axis is around multi-hundreds of LY, then the system would run into the Exa or Zetta range of numbers.

There's no real system, but some people choose a location where their systems are located. For example, Otagia is located somewhere in the Perseus Arm, while Khurgan is a few hundred LY corewards of Sol.

True. That is what I have seen everywhere. But it would be interesting to have something set.

Pick an unihabited system, tehn draw a line form that to the centre of the Galaxy (assume only using one galaxy), tehn measure all points as there heading setting that as 0 degree and 0 degrees and the points distance from the centre of the galaxy

The idea would be to pick a center point.
