Bridge Keeps: Outposts along the Phaethean Canal, the Bridge Keeps are the only crossing points for citizens to pass across the canal. The term Bridge Keep is misleading, as the keeps guard tunnels running under the canal, six lanes of traffic. Each tunnel is thoroughly rigged with explosives, and protected by fortifications at each end. A Century (120 soldiers) of Otagian Regulars is posted at each end of the tunnel, and will destroy the tunnels rather than letting them be captured.
Arcologies
Arcologies are ultra-massive self-sustaining structures, designed to act as their own cities as well as strongholds of PRA might. The structures are virtually indestructable, barring nuclear attack, and are well fortified against intrusions, with 6 legions of Red Samurai assigned to each one. All the arcologies are roughly identical, following the schemata below. Note that each Arcology is surrounded by suburbs and ordinary buildings, with possibly another two million souls scattered around each Arco.

Food Supply: Buried aquaculture tanks, buried hydroponics gardens
Defensive Measures: 4 meter reinforced concrete walls, 1000 CIWS and 250 RAM launchers arranged to provide maximum coverage, 20 roof-mounted SAM launchers, various interior defense systems
Red Samurai Allotment: 36,120
Of the seven legions, a single legion is devoted entirely to piloting the multiped tanks used in both police operations and military defenses. Shafts cut through the arco allow the multipeds to navigate the labyrinthine corridors of the building with ease, as well as setting up ambushes and flanking maneuvers. The other legions normally are devoted to police duties, but even then operate at peak readiness, with armor and weapons carried at all times. The Samurai have an intimate knowledge of their arcology, able to strike at any angle at their opponents. The wide array of automated weapons combined with numerous blast doors make the arcologies veritable death traps.

The Phaethean Canal is the main thoroughfare for the region, not only allowing barges and ships to pass from one side of the Colonies to the other, but facilitating trade and transport between the Arcologies. Each Arco borders the eighty meter wide canal, drawing from it its water supply.
The canal has been deemed too vital to the survival of Phaethos to leave undefended. However, Otagian Navy forces are not the best in the world. Thus, numerous automated defenses were installed. At each intersection, above each Bridge Keep tunnel, and at the various entrances, the area is studded with automated super-cav torpedo tubes, equipped with passive sonar arrays. The launchers are normally deactivated, but in times of war will fire upon any ships that do not first deactive the launchers.
