King dies at age 84! King of Bhutan has died today and with no heirs to throne has been succedded by Army General, Ugndoar Wayngdun. Ugndoar Wayngdun's first announcement as new King is for all foreign troops to pull off and away. Bhutan has claimed the borders with India and China as their own. All troops in Bhutan and on borders must pull off or be shot.
OOC: sorry for the short little post. Not alot of time now *sigh*

The British government is outraged at this sudden violence perpetuated by the Bhutanese government. Britain has always been kind to it's Bhutanese friends in terms of military protection and economic support and they have looked to their British protectors with fondness and have never before sought such active measures. Bhutan is a free and sovereign nation and has nothing to fear from British involvement in the country.
Britain would prefer to solve this problem diplomatically and suggests that perhaps the League of Nations would provide an ideal forum for this discussion. Meanwhile the Major of the garrison stationed at Thimphu has been informed not to act without orders from the British government and the British ambassador has been withdrawn to the safety of the garrison there.
Britain is willing to withdraw from Bhutan at the prompting of it's new leader but suggests that perhaps a certain neighbour of it may wish to expand it's territory if Britain withdrew military protection from Bhutan. (OOC: cough, China!)
OOC: I am presuming Britain has a small garrison here as it does in the rest of it's protectorates (the definition of a protectorate is to protect the area militarily).

The Federated States of India will not be bullied into submission by a protectorate. (OOC: We never DID agree on who controls the Protectorates, Ribenia. I mean, Bhutan and Sikkim are right next door to India, and the Indian army is at least 200,000 men strong...) We will maintain our garrison along the border with Bhutan, to secure the borders of the Indian state. We will also increase our forces in the protectorate of Sikkim.

We do not want violence. We wish to be backed off of a little. Our British protectorates are fine and we haven't fully addressed this issue. I'd love for Bhutan to remain great friends with Vritain. As to India. India our great neighbors. We request that India backs of border. We will love to work out agreements with India. We may discuss views and so forth. We just request the border left alone for now.

We will move our troops 20 kilometres away from the border. However, next time your nation wishes to begin diplomatic dialogue, please remind your king that threatening to shoot foreign troops is not a way to make friends.

OOC:"He was a general. He has many advisors. If he proceeds he may be involved in an unfortunate accident"
IC: We thank our great neighbor India and thank you for understanding.

China will not withdraw its troops from sentry duty along the Chinese-Bhutanese borders as we are somewhat concerned that Bhutanese rebels and undesirables may choose to raid Chinese villages. population centers, or Chinese mines in the Himalayas. To put it in plain terms, do not attack or cross over into Chinese territory and everything shall be fine.
~Emperor Guozu

Secret IC:
The Chinese Emperor, Guozu, shook his head as he read the latest reports from the Bhutanese border. He muttered to himself.
"Damn fools. Don't they realize that they may trigger another war? Perhaps even the next Great War?"
The Emperor cleared his mind and called his advisors to discuss plans on how to contain the Bhutanese Situation before it threatens the stability of the entirety of Asia.

Bhutanese rebels have been known for raids. We are know punishing all that do. We wish for China too pull of a little bit. Maybe 1 or 2 kilometers. Are citizens are not pleased with the lack of Bhutanese freedom. We have no problem with being a protectorate of Britain and friends with India and China. We respect you and wish for pact or alliance. We are small and want help. Our citizens want troops off borders so they feel free and not so boxed. I hope our chinese friends respect this.
The Mexican Government see this as unjust. The President ask why Ugndoar Wayngdun would ask of such a thing. The Mexican President tells the country of Bhutan to seize and stop.
"I have been authorized to offer the use of five hundred Hungarian Peace Keepers to replace the British Garrison in protecting Bhutan from outside interference and in assisting Bhutan in maintaining civil order. Hungary is also willing to send officials to oversee elections there if General Wayngdun so desires."
-Bela Kun, Hungarian League of Nations Delegate.

"We accept the Hungarian troops but not to replace the British Garrison. They would serve well as border patrols. Bhutanese Rebels and Chinese Soldiers often fight and China's refusal to move off border is most unpleaseant.

"Our citizens urn for more freedom. We want to fill there request but can't. China refuses to move and we want to keep Britain on our soil. Our citizens will rebel otherwise. We are how do you say 'stuck between a rock and a hardplace'."

Britain would be gla dot maintain it's current friendship and cooperation with the Bhutanese government. The Garrison has been instructed to continue with its normal patrols and guard duties and British citizens have been informed of the change in events. If extra soldiers are required in this difficult situation then all that the Bhutanese need to do is request them from us.

Britain is interested in helping Bhutan to prosper and will provide training and weapons for a new military and border defence force and is interested in supplying training and equipment for a fledging airforce, it would be interesting to see how useful aircraft are in such an environment. Finally Britain would be glad to offer economic aid to Bhutan to ecourage economic growth particularly in the capital Thimphu. This would all of course be with the prior agreement of the Bhutanese government.

We would be grateful. We appreciate Britain and your stance to help. We will accept all help that you can possibly provide to us.

"Hungary looks forward to what it hopes to be a lasting friendship with the Bhutanese people. We are also interested in knowing the Bhutanese response to Hungary's offer of Election Officials to assure that no nation can dispute the results of any up coming elections in Bhutan."
ooc: read the last part as "We don't really care if you want to rig the election as long as you do it quietly and make it worth our while." ;)

Several British companies have sent engineers and surveyers to Bhutan to assertain what can be developed there. In particular forestry, agriculture and hydroelectric power, though it isn't clear how much industrialisation these industries can receive due to the topography of Bhutan.
Britain has formally transferred the protection of Bhutan to the British Commonwealth of Nations in the interest of allowing better supply routes, promoting cooperation and contact between Bhutan and other nations and allowing for the better protection of Bhutan from outside powers. The only change that will occur is to be the inclusion of Indian, Australian, New Zealander and South African soldiers into the garrison alongside the current British soldiers. It is hoped that with this extra influx of manpower border posts and patrols can be set up on the border with China to control any possible immigration or threat to Bhutan.
The training of Bhutanese soldiers continues apace with the Commonwealth garisson assisting to promote modern techniques to the Bhutanese military. The first consignment of Lee Enfield Rifles (No.4, Mk.I) and BREN guns has arrived and the entire Bhutanese military is expected to be equipped in such a fashion within 6 months. Training is expected to be complete within a year and Britain is promoting the idea of expanding the Bhutanese military to deal with any threat. A delivery of 5 Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft and RAF personnel is expected shortly and tests will be underway to assertain their flying abilities in high altitudes and mountainous terrain. Initial work on a small airfield on a plateau near Thimphu has begun and if tests on the Hurricane aircraft are successful a small Bhutanese airforce is hoped to be developed.

The Bhutanese military currently stands at 100,000 troops. The population stands at 1.3 million people. The Help from Britain is greatly appreciated.
The Hungarian Ambassador to Bhutan quietly informs them that Hungary is willing to equip and train the Bhutanese army at cost.

We would accept training but have little money.
"Hungary is willing to wave the costs in consideration of Bhutan's economic status. It also inquires if Hungarian companies will be allowed to open in Bhutan." (ooc: traditionally Bhutan has been a very traditional nation so thats why I ask)
