Moses Land

It had been a great day for the nation.
The Civil War and Occupation were behind Moses Land, and a new constitution ahead. The capital city of the United Republic of Moses Land Moses Dominion was packed with crowds, celebrating Founding Day, the nation’s largest holiday. Flags of Moses Land’s numerous provinces flew side by side, symbolizing a unity many during the Civil War thought was gone for good. The crowds cheered Prime Minister Maxwell Tio as he laid out the nation’s future, a future of economic prosperity, political freedom, and international respect.
Five years later and Tio’s vision was regarded as a cruel joke.
The economy was in shambles due to unrestricted spending, election’s were accused of being rigged, and despite Moses Land’s major role in a nation’s recovery from a hurricane, it remained vastly ignored.
Then on the dirty streets that had five years ago been filled with hope, tanks rolled.
The skies were filled with fighter planes and soldiers patrolled every ally of Moses Dominion. It was a coup, plane and simple: the military was in charge of the nation.
Within a week Tio had been forced from office, Parliament had declared the coup legal, and every province swore loyalty to the nation’s new leader: General Terrance Slewton. And not a shot was fired.

Slewton assembled on the platform that Tio had spoken on years before. Crowds greeted their new leader with cheers. Slewton held up his hands and as if someone had flipped a switch, the crowds went quite.
He stepped forward and began to speak.
“Citizens of Moses Land and the world, I bring you this message.
“We all need order. Politicians have bickered over matters they do not truly understand or care about. Despots have tortured, wars have been fought, and innocents have died. This world needs to change. Together we shall change it.
“Moses Land is no longer a disunited Republic. Today we are the first Imperial state. Here corruption, poverty, starvation, and tyranny no longer exist. In one week, centuries of problems are reversed. The whole world must follow our example.
“This nation will spread it’s success beyond its shore. Any nation, regardless of its size or government need only call us friend, and grow and improve as we do.
“Any nation calling us foe, that stands for corruption, hate, and fear, will change by our hands. It does not matter who it is, or how large, rich, and powerful they think they are: we have destiny on our side, more mighty then any army.
“The choice is yours nation’s of the world: call us friend or foe. Choose to change, or choose to make us change you. Thank you.”
That day, the soldiers of the Imperial State of Moses Land began to ready for any one who challenged them. They were headed for destiny… or disaster.
