Just some info: In my nation the lifestyle is like ancient Greece like the clothing, architecture, etc mixed in with some Greek modern lifestyle.

IC:

The sun shined brightly over the city of Athens, the most beautiful city in the Empire. At the Imperial Palace, the Emperor was breathing in the morning’s fresh air at his study’s balcony. Lately he has been doing that a lot. He was always in his study working on something or out at the balcony. Servants of the palace have been spreading rumors that he is planning on expanding the Empire’s boundaries. But rumors from servants turned out false. Most of the time that is. But no the Emperor was not planning another grand military campaign. He was getting his will ready. He knew he was going to die soon. Everyday he felt himself get weaker as if life was slowly being drained out of him.

There was a knock on the door and Nikolaos went back into his study closing the balcony’s door behind him.

“Come in, Atticus.”

The polished oak door opened slowly and Atticus walked in with his ceremonial military uniform.

“How did you know it was me, Father?”

“Who else would have been? I haven’t gotten any visitors for about a week.”

“You told me you had some urgent matters that you wanted to speak to me about.”

“Yes I do but first get a drink and come and sit.”

Nikolaos went toward the leather couches and sat on one of them while taking out a cigar. Atticus joined him with a glass of strong vodka.

“So what is so important?”

“Well I won’t be Emperor for long anymore. I am dying. Calm yourself. I didn’t go to a doctor and I won’t. I think I lived a good life and accomplished all of my goals in life.”

“But father! Who will take over?! You can’t ask me because I am no good in political affairs and diplomacy.”

“You will learn over time. But I would really like to see you sit on the throne.”

“I still think you should go to a hospital! You look like you can rule for another 30 years!”

“Don’t lie Atticus! I know you can see it too. I have been becoming paler as each day passes and I look weaker too. I can feel the life slowly being drained out of me. I am weak now. It’s probably my heart too…I have had so many heart problems…”

“But…alright then…I…accept the throne.”

“There is a problem. The throne is not yet secured. There is another that also desires the throne.”

Atticus looked at him with a questioning look “Who is it?”

“Olympia Damondred”

As he said that Nikolaos puffed two smoke rings with his cigar.

“The name sounds familiar…wait isn’t she the one that recently acquired that huge fortune from her father?”

“That’s the one. She managed to triple that fortune in just a year making her the second richest in Greece.” Nikolaos said sounding impressed. “Only she has the influence, the wealth and enough power to contend for the throne. Apparently reports show she has a good amount of influence in Army that has gone unnoticed.”

“That’s impossible! All of my generals are loyal to me.” Atticus said angrily.

“Anything is possible and you will do well to remember that.” Nikolaos said in a strict tone. “Not only that, but she has been politically active lately. She managed to get voted into the Assembly and ever since then she has been challenging me on most of my decisions. She is quite popular in the media too. I wouldn’t be surprised if she already has loyal supporters.”

“Don’t worry I won’t let her get her hands on the throne.” Atticus said and then he finished his vodka “But now I think its time for you to rest Father.”

“Worrying about my already broken health? Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.” Nikolaos said in a reassuring voice. “Now you should go. I heard you have a press conference to go to”

“I am probably going to be late for it anyways. But I will be back to check on you.”

Atticus slowly left the study always looking over his back to his father with a worried look.

Four days later…

Today was a sad day for the people of the Empire. News has reached the ears of the common person and the news-hungry media that today the great Emperor Nikolaos or Nikolaos the Great, like many called him has passed away in his sleep of heart failure. He died at the age of 65. The Assembly has announced a day of mourning and all flags are to be lowered by half on the mast as a sign of respect.

When Atticus received word that his father had died he couldn’t believe that it finally happened. He drove back the Palace and walked the corridors looking lost when he finally reached his father’s room. His body lay on the bed, his face drained from color. Next lifeless body was his brother, Ares. He joined him and looked at his father. They both where speechless and they shared there sadness through silence and kept looking at there now dead father.

"Good afternoon, everyone, this is Walter Krankheit of RBNNN, the most trusted name in government-approved news. Today, a great tragedy has afflicted Greece, a tragedy of far-reaching impact. Today, the great ruler of Greece, Nikolaos the Great, has passed away. The Generalissimo openly wept at a press conference today, describing Nikolaos as, 'a giant among men, a visionary statesman, a noble and chivalrous warrior, a tried-and-true ally, and one of my best friends of all time. He will be missed. Let us pray for Greece and its wonderful people. I hereby declare a month of mourning. All flags are to be flown at half-mast.'"

Greece, my brother and I appreciate the kind words from Roach-Busters. Generalissimo you have been a true friend of Greece and my father. I hope I can honor the Roach-Busters-Greece relation when I receive the throne.

Two days later the funeral was held for the Emperor in Athens. Many people gathered for the ceremony to wish the Emperor a safe trip to the gods. The funeral was close only to citizens of the Empire and no foreigner was allowed to attend, including the media. Security was tight. Helicopters constantly patrolled the sky and all the streets leading to the funeral were blocked by military tanks. Nothing was going to disturb this event.

All preaches for a safe passage was done by the priests and the coffin was ready to be closed. Atticus stepped up to the coffin giving one last look at his father. He placed two gold coins under his father’s hand so he will be able to pay Charon, the ferryboat man, to get him across to the realm of the afterlife.

“Have a safe trip, father. You will always be remembered in the Empire as a great man. Almost as great as the gods themselves.”

With that he closed the coffin and walked away. The four gravediggers were put to work to bury the coffin. When the burying process was done, Atticus revealed a 10 foot statue of the Emperor by removing the blanket covering it. It pictured the Emperor on his horse with his sword pulled out in front of him. It was a marvelous. On the base of the statue there was a metal plate reading the following:

Nikolaos The Great
Emperor of Greece
1940-2005

Four Days Later…

It was four days later and the Assembly was back in its usual chaos. Today’s hot topic was who will receive the throne. Obviously the New Democrats were fighting for a democracy, the two communists were fighting for communism, but were ignored, and the rest were supporting for a monarchy/democracy.

Atticus, in his decorated military uniform, stepped up to the podium and silenced everyone.

“I will bid for the throne. I have my father’s support through his will which should be enough to convince you all that I should be the new Emperor.”

Everybody was surprised to here that. They didn’t except Atticus to demand the throne, they were thought he will wait for them to give him the throne. Some were disappointed because Atticus won’t be easy to control.

“Are there any objections?”

“Yes there is.”

The room went silent from all its whispers. Someone dared to object to Atticu’s future rule. Who can that be? They all turned to the person standing. Everyone was surprised except for Atticus. As if he was waiting for that. His father did warn him this kind of thing might happen. It was Olympia Damondred, the second richest and most influential person in the Empire.

“What makes you think you can take the throne, Olympia?”

“I believe I am far superior then you in every aspect and deserve the throne more. I will be able to lead the Empire in a new glorifying age better then you will.”

“Don’t be fooled. Nobody will support you. Tomorrow the Assembly will vote for me and give me the throne.”

“We will see about that.”

Olympia just left the room without another word. Whispering started again. The incident already managed to get its way on to the media within 10 minutes. A new record.

That Same Night…

Thessalonica, Greece

Olympia’s villa house was located just a few minutes away from the city. It was located on hill near the coastline. She was sitting on one of the coaches in her study drinking a glass of wine. Opposite to her was the General Achilles.

“Olympia, are you sure you want to go through with this?”

“I’m determined to see this plan to become a success. I will gain the throne. I am determined but what about you? Will you carry out your part of the plan.”

“I am a man of honor and will keep my word. I will persuade tonight Aristides and Europa to give you there support. And by tomorrow half the army will be under your control.”

“Good. There is also another thing I need you to do.”

“And that is?”

“I need to capture the Assembly tomorrow.”

“What about Atticus?”

“You will let him go. I don’t want to give the people a bad impression.”

“I better hurry now back to the base. I don’t want soldiers spreading rumors.”

They both got up and Olympia put her drink on the table.

“Remember I am counting on you Achilles to pull this off.”

“Don’t worry the army will be yours tomorrow...”

Athens, Greece

Who would have thought the same kind of meeting will be happening at the Imperial Palace between Atticus and his uncle, General Archimedes Onassis.

“Relax Atticus. You’re freaking out over a minor issue. Olympia is no threat to you. She is just a spoiled brat that thinks she can become Empress.”

“But my father told me to watch out for her and I take his words very seriously.”

“Your father was very paranoid sometimes.”
“Yes he was but I am pretty sure he knew what he was talking about. I still won’t take the risk. I want to capture the Assembly tomorrow.”

“I still don’t think it’s a very good idea. You’re going to project a bad image of yourself to the people. But if you insist I will have my soldiers capture it for you.”

“Thank you. Now go I need to stay alone for awhile and think some things over.”

“Make sure you get a good night’s rest because tomorrow will be a big day.”

The General left to start planning the military coup.

German informers in Greece had notified der Führer of the growing tensions in Greece. Nikolaos Onassis, who had been a loyal and dependable ally was dead, and instead of the throne passing directly from Nikolaos to Atticus, a woman by the name of Olympia Damondred - who held a very friendly stance towards the Reich and its ideals - was competing for power.

The Reichskanzler was predicting bloodshed. Damondred was a very ambitious and powerful woman, yet Atticus was the son of Nikolaos. Under normal circumstances, der Führer would have already offered his support of Atticus. However, he had not once spoken to this man and knew not of his intentions. Kübler had not even been contacted by him. To further complicate matters, Olympia was half German.

A woman who commanded the entire power of Greek who was even part German and sentimental towards the Vaterland would be very beneficial to the Reich. Therefore, Kübler debated the matter with himself and requested the advice of his Generals before making his historic and ultimately balance-of-power-making decision.

He had sent out a highly-encrypted message to Damondred, one which relied entirely on encryption systems baed entirely on the German thought process, which Olympia should be somewhat familiar with. The ecryption system - which required the answering of certain questions, riddles, complete knowledge of the German language, and a final message scrambler - was almost impossible for someone to crack without a thorough knowledge of German culture, thought, and language. Originally, it was designed for German, Austrian, or Swiss Generals to use in order to safely communicate on the battlefield without using messengers; however, it would serve a different purpose this time.

Olympia was up bright and early to get ready for her military coup. If she was lucky she will meet no resistance and capture Athens but that was very unlikely. She was giving a quick look at a map of Athens. It showed the locations of her units under her command.

An officer entered her room holding a letter. He saluted and handed her over the letter.

“It is a heavily encrypted telegram. We tried to decrypt it but it does not appear to be Greek encryption. It looks foreign.”

“Very well. I will take a look at it.”

She took the letter and opened it at her office. She instantly recognized it as German. She quickly decrypted it. Thank god her father at least took the time to teach her the German language she thought to herself.

“This is a surprise. I never thought Germany will get involved. They will certainly be of use in gaining the throne.” she whispered to herself.

Imperial Villa, Rose City

"Chancellors," Frederick von Hattensberg started "The Emperor of the Greek Empire, Nikolaos has died. There is a situation brewing due to this. There are to factions, I have labeled them the Monarchists and the Populists."

"How original." Sergei mumbled.

"Hmph. Anyway, Chancellors, the Greek Empire can go into two directions. A Despotic reign by Atticus, or a Republican-Monarchisticesque reign by Olympia. Now then, IRIS, the Imperial Rose Intelligence Servive, has secretly tried to make Democracy "look good" in the eyes of the people. We might have our chance now. This Atticus, is not like Nikolaos. He seems a bit... je no se que."

"You're French now?" Said First Sea Lord Wilhem von Sturben.

"Your mother." Frederick responded. "Anywho, he's stubborn. And he might break off relations with the Union, and we don't need another Despot in the Mediterranean. I.E. we need those Roman bases. Therefore, we must support Olympia-"

"Objection!" Sergei shouted.

A gasp went around the room.

"What?! You're the one spouting about freedom." Frederick responded.

"Yes but-" Sergei said. "Atticus is the true Prince whether we like it or not. I am not going to betray a friend."

"Well I'm sorry." Frederick responded. "The United Imperial Assembly has approved to aid Olympia, and I have signed and so has the entire Imperial Council, we need your signiture to make it official. And even if you don't sign it, they'll approve again, so stop delaying it."

Sergei grudgingly signed the document pledging support. "Fine... at least it'll be a breath of fresh air. Now then, who's sending the message?"

"I will, of course." The President, Frederick, stated.

The Imperial Union has secretly decided to support your bid for power.
We do not like Atticus, he is too hostile, too brutish. And he will remove our
bases from Greece if he takes power, eliminating our only hold in the
Roman Sea, aka Mediterranean. We are willing to give you Military support,
all you have to do is continue the alliance between Greece and the Union.

Of course this has to be kept hush hush for now, I tell you this now because
we all know a war is going to happen. But that just makes it more fun now
doesn't it?

8:00 AM

Before leaving for the Assembly, Olympia took some time to reply to the Rosian’s offer for help.

To:
From: Olympia Damondred

I am grateful for the support of the Island of Rose. Greece and TIOR has always had strong bond of friendship and I am honored to uphold it. Yes I will keep your support secret for now. And just to let you know I am attempting a military coup on the Assembly today. But I am sure you will read it in the media.

-Olympia Damondred
Athens, Greece

The limousine parked in front of the Assembly. Olympia’s bodyguard, a Hoplite in disguise, opened her door and walked her all the way to the Assembly’s chamber of voting. Everybody was present. Nobody will miss today’s decision that will ultimately decide the Empire fate. After the Assembly reaches a decision on which candidate is better suited the throne the polling will go the people to find out there opinions. That was not going to happen. Two military coups were planned today, something that has never happened in the history of the Empire. Since Atticus was the highest ranking government official (yes Generals are government officials) he had the first say.

Atticus: “Everyone please remain quiet. Today we gathered to see a new Emperor to sit on the Impeiral Throne. And that Emperor is me. Hoplites--”

Olympia, to her surprise knew what he was going say. She immediately ordered her bodyguard to open fire while she escaped.

Atticus: “What the hell!”

Atticus pulled out his gun and started shooting at the Hoplite while he was using the podium for cover. The shooting Hoplite took cover behind a group of Assemblymen and was radioing his backup. He pulled out of the chamber and ran down the hall to catch up to Olympia.

Hoplite: “Slow down. I radioed reinforcements.”

He opened the main doors and a group of dozen Hoplites opened fire on them. The bodyguard jumped and pushed Olympia out of the way. He closed the doors when he saw the reinforcements arriving in armored humvees.

Hoplite: “I got shot in the leg. Run down this corridor and take the stairs upstairs until you get to the roof. And take this radio to call for a chopter.”

Olympia: “Thank you. I hear more footsteps coming from the chamber.”

Hoplite: “Hurry up and go.”

Olympia ran down the corridor following his orders. While the Hoplite limped to one of the columns and took cover. When got out of his little hideout to open fire Atticus took aim and shot right between the eyes. He was accompanied by a group of Hoplites.

Atticus: “Damn it. She could have gone anywhere. Stay here and secure this passage.” He pointed at two Hoplites and gave them orders. “You two go in each opposite way and search for her. If you find her try to capture her alive but if she is going to because you trouble just shoot her.”

Olympia made was calling for a helicopter when she made it to the roof. Now all she had to do was wait and hope it came before Atticus’s soldiers came.

Olympia: “How could I have been such a fool? I should have thought he will do this.”

She heard the sound of a helicopter approaching but what terrified her the most was the sound of footsteps behind the door. The Hoplite opened the door and his last words were “Oh shit” a missile blasted into the door.

The helicopter landed and Olympia got on board. She turned to the pilot with a very angry look on her face.

Olympia: “You idiot! You could have killed me!”

Pilot: “Calm down. I aimed the missile right into the door and onto the stairway. The blast was enough to kill that soldier but not you since you were a few meters away from it.”

Olympia: “Just don’t ever try that again.”

The helicopter took off and set its coordinates at the temporary base in Athens. While outside of the Assembly it was getting very bloody. The armored humvees gunned down the group but then Atticus sent in tanks which did a quick work of those humvees. More Hoplites and tanks from both sides were sent in to reinforce there blockades. Some civilians managed to gather some courage and picked up weapons and fought on Atticus side. After all he was Athenian.

Two hours have passed and the battle quieted down. There was some pretty bad damage around the area of the Assembly. Olympia’s forces retreated back to Thessalonica by ships waiting at the Peraia, Athens’s port town, and Atticus’s forces paraded in the streets as the victors.

Temporary Athenian Base, Athens

When the helicopter reached the base General Achilles came out to meet her.

General Achilles: “Olympia, are you all right? I heard you got attacked in the Assembly.”

Olympia: “As you can see I am alright but I am not pleased. Our first battle and we lost it. I except from you perfect results in our future battles.”

General Achilles: “They may have won the battle but the way has just begun.”

Olympia: “True. Now I want to fly back to Thessalonica. I hope I have a strong grip there. I don’t want to face more of Atticus’s soldiers.”

General Achilles: “Rest assured, Northern-Easter Greece is secured. We should fly out now before they sent out air patrols.”

This may have been a bloody day but it was money making for the media. Now they had something to talk about. Every single reporter in the Empire wanted to get some information on this incident and predict there predicament of the future.

OOC: From now on Atticus’s forces will be called Onassis forces and Olympia’s army will be called Damondred forces. So there won’t be any confusion.

41st Battlefleet, Thessalonica

The 41st Battlefleet, it was consisted of the standard Imperial manner, mostly
frigates and cruisers with battleships and carriers providing the offence. Its flagship was the IRS Sparti, (a Rose Class Carrier) aptly named, of course. Its Admiral was Admiral Alexander Yul, a former Officer of the Imperial Home Fleet stationed off Novaros Island outside the Island. He was thirty something, rather young (some say he danced to the top, but it might be a rumour) but now he was an Admiral. He then received this message:

To: Admiral A.Y. 41
From: First Sea Lord Wilhem von Sturben

You are to meet with Olympia or with a representative of her as soon as
possible. Even though the Chancellory of Defence predicts this to be a war of
the land, we must establish aerial and naval dominance as soon as possible.
Also, you willl become the Grand Admiral of 11 BattleFleets that will arrive
outside the Gates of Hercules and and you will then sail towards them. From
there, you will be in control of 300 ships. This will take awhile, but the Greek
Navy has 900 ships and we don't want to be that vastly outnumbered. Good
day.

In Service,

Wilhem von Sturben
First Sea Lord of the Navy
Chancellor of Defence

To: Olympia Damondred
From: Alexander Yul, 41st BattleFleet

We know this will be a land war. But aerial and naval supremecy might
give us the edge. Therefore meet me on the IRS Sparti or at least
send a reprentative. Either way, tanks are useless if bombed from above eh?
God Bless your venture.

The helicopter was approaching Thessalonica’s port. Olympia noticed through the cockpit’s window that there was a large fleet gathered and saw the Rosian flag wave over on what looked like the capital ship.

Olympia: “So the Rosians have arrived.”

Pilot: “We are receiving an income transmission from General Aristides.”

General Aristides: “I am glad to hear that you are all right Olympia and I did hear about the battle. Anyways that’s not important. Admiral Alexander Yul of the 41st Rosian fleet wishes an audience with you.”

Olympia: “Very well I will see him now. And I believe I see his ship. Pilot you see that big ship I am pointing at? Land on it.”

Pilot: “Very well.”

The helicopter started to descend and begun landing when it found the helicopter landing pad. It turned off its propellers completely once it touched the pad. Olympia got off, followed by General Achilles.

Reichskanzler Kübler had the common sense to mobilize an adequate fighting force before the onset of war. The seasoned and battle-tested 2nd Army, based out of Germany, was now rolling through Southwestern Montenegro towards Albania. Commanding the 2nd Army was Generaloberst Heinz Guderian, Supreme Commander of the Panzerkorps. Since this army, like most of Germany's, was based around tank warfare, he was the perfect man for the job.

It was sheer coincidence that this army had arrived just when the Civil War had begun, however unbeknownst to Guderian. Der Führer, on the other hand, was well-aware of the fighting in Athens and had sent an Encryption 10 message to Guderian, informing him that he was to communicate directly with Damondred. However, he had already received a short and to-the-point message from the woman.

Message To: Generaloberst Heinz Guderian

"Send in the German 2nd Army to Albania STOP Arrest or kill all pro-Attican Greek soldiers you encounter STOP Head South STOP Beware of the Border Guards STOP Thank you END MESSAGE"

Generaloberst Heinz Guderian, as he was riding behind the front line forces in his armored Land Rover, thought to himself, "That woman certainly is assertive. Only der Führer should be giving me orders."

On the front line, IFVs and tanks equipped with loud speakers shreaked out messages in Greek warning all pro-Attican soldiers and civilians to surrender to the German 2nd Army, under command of Generaloberst Heinz Guderian, or be killed or arrested.

At first, some border guards and civilians too shocked and surprised to see the German Army surrendered, unable to decipher their confused thoughts and feelings. "What are they doing here? Of all people, why are the Germans arresting us?", they thought to themselves. However, the initial shock and confusion did not last too long.

Roughly two kilometers into Albania, the Greek border guards opened fire on the German 2nd Army. While they were obviously excellently trained, they didn't have the equipment or numbers to even slow the massive German Army down. Moreover, the Germans were equipped with the brand-new StuG-I Primary Assault Tank. It was the most modern tank the Reich had to offer and this was its first test in actual combat.

The first hostile outpost that greeted the 2nd Army was defended by roughly thirty soldiers, two trucks, and four tanks. German front line soldiers received a simple and brief order from Guderian. Fifty-five OS soldiers, accompanied by four Panzer-XI LBTs and two StuG-I's were to storm the compound.

The Attican trucks blew to pieces as two 135mm tank rounds surgically delivered by the StuG-I's hit them head-on. Pinning down the Greek infantry, two 15 x 115mm HMGs on the turrets of the StuG-I's opened fire. They were supported by 7.62mm machine gun fire from the Panzer-XI Light Battle Tanks. Shortly thereafter, the two tanks aimed their main guns at a Greek tank, not yet able to mobilize. They fired, turning the unmanned tank into flame and a heap of scrap metal.

One of the Panzer-XIs was immobilized, one destroyed, and three OS soldiers killed before ten of the thirty or so Greek infantry left alive surrendered. The other three Greek tanks were annihilated by the German tanks. The firefight lasted no more than five minutes, but this was only the tip of the iceberg.

After the first encounter with hostile Greek troops, a new order was received from Guderian. The 2nd Army was to split in half. Army Group A was to continue South into Albania while Army Group B was to move East into Skopje. Army Group A, under the command of Generaloberst Heinz Guderian, was to move further South and secure Albania for Damondred. Army Group B, under the command of Generalmajor Ernst Hess, was to sweep Eastward and secure Skopje.

How the German Army was supposed to tell the difference between Attican and Damondred forces was not yet clear, but that would be resolved soon enough...

Atticus was very frustrated with the whole incident. His forces may have won but they failed to capture Olympia. She will continue to be a thorn in his route to the Imperial Throne.

General Archimedes: “Atticus why don’t you just claim the throne now and sit on it. You have Athens!”

Atticus: “That will be a disgrace to my honor. Proclaiming myself as Emperor when I someone out there is still challenging for it, is a cowardly act.”

General Archimedes: “You’re just like your father. In my opinion those days are long gone.”

Atticus: “I need to get back to planning my next move. I am thinking of withdrawing forces from the Northern Borders to hit Thessalonica. I also have to reply back to message from Roach-Busters.”

General Archimedes: “Alright then. I am going to go back to my base and plan Athen’s defenses.”

General Leonidas: “I don’t like this one bit. Warn all outposts for a possible aggression from unknown enemy. I want every single outpost outside of the Metaxas Line to fall back to the Line and wait there for further orders. Send out a nearby garrisoned Ghost team to the outpost and investigate.”

Operator: “Yes sir. Should I warn HQ back in Athens?”

General Leonidas: “No need. I will take care of this situation.”

The warning message was sent out to all outposts outside of the Metaxas Line to fall back and wait for further orders. While a Special Forces team of 5 Ghosts was sent out to Outpost #15.

They were driven close by to the Outpost by a truck and were dropped off there. The rest was to be traveled by foot. The Ghost team made there way when they saw smoke rising from the nearby outpost.

Alpha Member #2: “It looks like a rebel attack.”

Alpha Leader: “No Albanians wouldn’t be able to do this kind of damage. It must be Damondred’s forces.”

Alpha Member #3: “Whatever it is I just want to check it out and leave.”

The Ghosts settled at a nearby hill were they have perfect visual contact from binoculars.

Alpha Leader: “This cant be… This is impossible!”

Alpha Member 2 took the binoculars from the leader and took a look himself

Alpha Member #2: “Shit! Those are German Reichswehr soldiers!”

IRS Sparti, Thessalonica

Alexander approched Olympia and shook her hand. "Ah welcome Empress." He said Empress as a subtle way to stregthen future Greco-Rosian relations. "Welcome to the IRS Sparti. Don't worry, you will be safe. No Rosian ship sinks on my watch." He said proudly.

"Unless missiles drop down on us..." One of the sailors snickered.

He then looked at Achilles. "And here is Greece's Master of Arms so to speak. Hell General." He saluted him as a Rosian, and a Roman, would. He beat his fist into his chest.

He continued. "The 41st BattleFleet is safe. So yes, let me escort you to the Bridge." He proceeded to escort her down the long flat runway of the escort towards the control tower. There were airplanes being repaired, sailors and crewmen running up and down being busy, others were just trying to look busy. Other men were telling rude lewd stories while the women were threatening sexual harrasment, a true example of the Navy's Glory.

He led her up a twist of stairs until they arrived at the bridge, which had giant electronic consoles, a giant table that had a holographic simulation of the Greek terrain, a window that the people of the consoles look out of while they worked, and of course, a giant useless map of Greece.

"As you know, the Rosian Navy is a force to be reckoned with." Let the ego stroking commence. "We held off a large Doomite Invasion Force of Psov until a peace treaty was made, alone. Not this fleet, another fleet. We destroyed the Hatarian Invasion Fleet, but that was the former Defence Fleet stationed in Sardinia. But that's besides the point. Now then, the point is that this is a war. And this war while mostly on land, will require naval and aerial support. This is where we come in."

He escorted Olympia and Achilles to the holographic table, how we can afford one is for us to know. But let's just say it's running the deficit. It displayed a map of Greece, with two large black dots. One on Thessalonica and another on Athens. "We are here." The Thessalonican dot bleeped once. "My plan of action simple, simple and timely. A fleet of 275 ships is amassing on the Pillars of Hercules. Therefore my fleet will leave soon. With this fleet and your combined Greek fleet, and I know there will be a Greek fleet because I know you have some supporters in the Navy, and we will bombard Athens from the air and sea."

The map suddenly zoomed towards the Pelopelese peninsula. "You, meanwhile, will amass forces at the border of Pelopelese peninsula, this will take awhile. Then you will split your forces, we will attack Athens two fold. From the land through Corinth and into Athens, and through the sea via a D-Dayesque landing."

Two red arrows are showing marching through Athens via land and sea, when they hit Athens, the dot, it gets on fire. "It will surprise Atticus and the Throne will yours. Securing Greece's hold on the Eastern Roman Sea and the Island's influence in Roman affairs, or at least any of it left when we gave Sardinia to the Carthaginians." He sighed. "The only problem would be time. You'd need to buy as much time as possible. But I think diplomatic backstabbing, skirmishes, and special operations will help. Then again, we never know what Atticus might have up his sleave, he is Nikolao's son." He paused. "Oh and it's dangerous and it might lead to the death of thousands of young lives who never had families, but they can be replaced, I hope." He looked at Achilles. "Do you have something to suggest to the plan?"

"And sir." One of the radar operators asked. "How do you know about military strategy and tactics?"

"I don't, the Chancellory of Defence submitted me that plan." Alexander responded. "Now shut up and work!" He scoffed. "I am in charge of the situation, and blast you if I don't get this promotion! I will be the next Admiral in charge of the Imperial Home Fleet." He continued. "Olympia, Achilles, you should leave. We need to sail now to meet with the fleet outside the Pillars, but my Vice-Admiral who is in the Rosian Embassy in Thessalonica will be with you, good day."

"Wait sir, sattellites show foreign, no German forces, attacking the Balkans. Albania in specific. It looks like they won." The operator said. "Are they on our side?"

Alexander responded quickly. "Keep monitoring the situation. Olympia, are they on our side? If not I'll try to give you all the aid I can. And if they are on our side, tell the communications officer to send them any message you want."

Army Group B was pushing steadily Eastward into Skopje, luckily encountering little resistance as they went. As it would appear, Atticus held most of his power in the South and perhaps in Turkey. It was Damondred who, thankfully, controlled most of the North. This made it initially easy for the German Army to successfully occupy Albania and Skopje. In fact, the North was influenced so greatly by Damondred that five Greek Divisions joined up with Army Group B.

Because the Greeks, naturally, held such a firm grasp of the terrain, strategics, and defenses of Northern Greece it gave the Germans the edge they had been needing in order to push on.

Meanwhile, Guderian had made his way into Southern Albania where he was hoping he would be able to meet with Damondred before pushing any farther South and risking an encounter with the Greek Army. Basing his tactics off of a combination of old German tactics and Hunnic tactics, he was able to absorb loyal soldiers into his army while continuously moving.

Before advancing into Greece itself, the Generaloberst wished to contact Damondred first.

Giurgiu, Romania...

Generalmajor Sepp Dietrich had moved the German 5th Army to the Romanian/Bulgarian border under command of Generaloberst Heinz Guderian in preparation for the siege of that country. The 5th Army was made up primarily of the Volksdeutsche - foreign born German - soldiers from various territories such as Hungary, Yugoslavia, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Furthermore, it was outfitted with Romanian soldiers who knew the terrain and climate very well. They were ordered to move within one kilometer of Bulgaria and wait for word from Guderian.

This Army would relieve the problem that the 2nd Army faced: that of stretching out their lines too far. As well, their experience along the Caspian Steppes would prevent the Army from getting bogged-down in Mountain Warfare. Currently, a fairly thick snow was falling on the soldiers of the 2nd and 5th Armies, making any air strikes a bit difficult to say the least.

Scouts of the 5th Army could see the Greek Border Guards had already mobilized in preparation for a possible German invasion. This was a bit unnerving for Dietrich, as any intelligence gathered on the Greeks was confusing, due to who was on whose side, the lack of consolidation of forces loyal to Damondred, and various other factors such as the fact that all Greek soldiers - whether loyal to Damondred or Onassis - wore the same uniforms and flew flags almost identical to one another.

To gather more information, an Encryption 10 message was sent from Dietrich to Damondred.

General Patroklos took his place beside General Menelaus before 2 assembled Phalanxes (a group of 1 million soldiers), way farther east in the Caucasian lands.

Today, we will sail to Greece. It is in the middle of Civil War, much as the corrupt nation of Kreynoria, who recently attacked us. We will fight for Atticus, the very same general who recently helped us beat off the bastardly Kreynorians. Our goal, to seize the unrightful spoiled brat of a women who claims the thrown that does not belong to her. It was even in Nicolaos' will for Atticus to have the throne. Those Dream-on-Dread peoples will die. Do not think you are outmatched. We carry the very same samson battlesuits they do, and, with our recent experience, can whip their asses. We will move in, capture Olympia Demondred, and bring her to Atticus... Alive

He then sent 2 messages out…

TO Atticus of Greece

We are with you on this war. We will bring you Demondred. We will do this through double agency. Doing so, we will have no troubles capturing her. Nor will we have trouble getting past her allies. With her out of the way, their will be nothing to stop you from taking the thrown. And her supporters will have no reason to resume fighting you.

Your Greek allies from Sparta Dominion.

TO Demondred of Greece

We are on your side today. We will sail 2 million men to help you, including General Menelaus. Atticus will suffer for his incelence. He will suffer a most painful death, or if you like, bring him to you alive. The throne will be yours.

Your Greek allies from Sparta Dominion

And with that, he rallied a phalanx (group of 1,000,000 men), and prepared to set sail for Thessalonica, Greece.

The First Part would be to Start a Blockade of Thessolonica, traping any enemy Forces and helping The loyalists Capture Olympia Demondred. Also, The 56th Imperial Marine Regament would Invade Thessolonica to help in the Capture of Olympia.

The second Part would be to Stop the N Germanian Invasion by sending the 45th, the 12th and 14th Grand Imperial Armies to Crush the invaders for reclaim Greek territory.

The Third would be to Get at the heart of The German Invasion by Invadeing N Germania it self, crushing that Nation once and for all.

OOC: Excuse me Signor Hataria, I have a favor -- could you please address me when speaking ICly as "Fourth Reich" or "the Reich"? Also, how many men total are in each of your armies (including logistics)?

Also also, I'm a bit confused as to how to play this out. I was playing this RP from the Earth-II perspective, that is to say all my land claims in E2 are applied here, hence why I conveniently share a border with NTG. Also 3x, I'm not really sure how the technical aspects of this are going to work, it sounds confusing.

NOTE: For those of you who don't know, N Germania is a puppet for North Germania, which explains why I have the amount of soldiers and land.

IC:

Noticing the massive troop movements towards Greece, the Reichskanzler ordered immediate action. The 5th Army, stationed in Giurgiu, Romania was to abandon its position along the Bulgarian border and move Southwest towards Albania.

Army Group B in Skopje was to temporarily abandon its mission of securing that territory and move West, back into Albania. Should the German Armies in fact be assaulted, they would be densely positioned in a defensive stance, in Albania only.

Der Führer was anxious to mobilize the 9th Army, stationed in Ukraine, as it was still serving as a buffer between Pantheaa and the Reich. Even still, it was most battle-tested and experienced Army the German Armed Forces had to offer.

Therefore, he made the decision to mobilize the 1st Army from Austria, and even though it would take some time to arrive in Albania, it would serve as an excellent reinforcement party should they show up too late. They would be supported by the 5th Army in Yugoslavia, which was to station itself North of Albania, in Montenegro, to protect against an enemy flanking maneuver.

Luckily for the Armies already in Albania, they would be able to use the natural terrain of Albania -- its large mountains, caves, and other defensively important elements -- to protect their interests as well as have an upper-hand in fighting whatever foreign Army may come their way.

Perhaps Damondred could assist in some way. After all, the Germans were their to serve her interests.

Either way, it was very possible that the Reich would need to call on its allies should that become necessary. Seeing as how the Germans were outnumbered at least four to one and moving appropriate forces to the area would take some time - something Guderian didn't have.

However, the 16th Luftwaffe Division stationed in Slovenia was to fly South towards Yugoslavia in order to attempt to at least slow down enemy air power. They would be supported by the 18th Luftwaffe Division, stationed in Slovakia and moved to Yugoslavia.

To protect the Reich's assets, the 11th Reichsmarine Fleet would be sent from the Bosnian and Slovenian coasts. It would station itself off the coast of Albania.

Given Guderian's capabilities, the concentration of the German Armies, and the strategically important it would be difficult to breach their defenses, much less make it into Reich territory without taking heavy casualties.

Also supporting these armies would be about three Gustav GPS-guided 475mm railroad guns, not to mention multiple Kormoran-II Cruise Missile sites.

In any case, it would be an epic battle if enemy forces attempted to enter the Reich...

The Fourth Reich may have been ready for war, as The Satellite Pics showed, but they were faceing a Large Nation that was very War-like. 23,000,000 troops (2,000,000 of them logistics.) was the max for a nation with over 3,000,000,000 (Billion) people. Hataria's most deadly weapon was it's navy. Warships from the Giant Black Dragon Class Battleships to PT boats and minesweepers, this Navy was as large as The UK's Navy.

The Hatarians were ready to show the "Fourth Reich" that Hataria would defend it's allies.

In response to the growing mobilization of Hatarian forces, der Führer ordered immediate action. The 6th Army stationed in Belarus was mobilized to Montenegro along with the 4th Army stationed in Poland. To further support them, the most elite and the best Army the Reich had to offer, the 9th Army, was sent to Romania from Ukraine.

To further support the Armies, the 8th, 9th, 11th, 15th, and 19th Reichsmarine Fleets set out towards Greece. Furthermore, the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th, 14th, and 18th Fallschirmjäger Divisions were on stand-by in Yugoslavia. Accompanying the 11th Reichsmarine Fleet was the Reich Class Arsenal Ship. Simply described, an aircraft carrier turned into a gigantic combination of various warships.

While the Hatarians may have had a bit of a numerical advantage, they had left their homeland undefended. Moreover, the German Army was set up in a perfect defensive position. Their forces were compact, consolidated, protected by the mountains and barren landscape, battle-tested, and prepared.

Due to the elevated nature of this war, Reichsgeneral Erwin von Rundstedt replaced Generaloberst Heinz Guderian as Commander of the Greek Theater. Guderian, however, was second-in-command. It was a blow to his ego, but he was still nearly as powerful as before.

With the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, and 9th Armies - a total of over 1.200.000 soldiers including logistics - all concentrated in a small area with natural defenses, cruise missile defenses, Luftwaffe, and Reichsmarine support, it would be next to impossible to breach the line. Even if the defense line was broken, the enemy would have to deal with the 3rd, 4th, and 7th Armies stationed the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Bosnia plus the reserves, which had yet to be activated.

Besides, if the Reich was attacked, the aggressor would have to deal with the entirety of The October Alliance.

From: Admiral Alexander Yul, 41st BattleFleet

Emperor! We humbly request to leave the Aegean Sea. We do not wish to
be involved in the affairs of Greece. So please, let us leave peacefully so we
may not bother you.

Alexander Yul
Admiral of the 41st BattleFleet
Officer of the Rosian Navy

Alexander Yul

Achilles was impressed by the Rosian plan. It would have worked if it wasn’t Greece they were dealing with. A blockade won’t do anything to the Athens.

“A blockade won’t starve Athens. The late Emperor Nikolaos built Greece to be very self sufficient to counter these kind of attacks during times of war. Also the necessary resources the city needs to operate will get them from the outlying towns and villages.

But your fleet does come in handy. Like you said before, this war will require aerial support. Your air carriers will become very useful because it will be very hard for Atticus to sink them with so many ships protecting them. We will leave now since we do have some planning to do back at the city.” Achilles saluted Admiral Yul and was waiting for Olympia to depart.

Olympia shook Admiral Yul’s hand for the last time. “Tell your government back home that I am very grateful for the help. The Island of Rose will never be forgotten. And by the way the Germans are on our side. There is nothing to worry. I suggest you make contact with them.”

Achilles and Olympia departed the bridge and headed back to the helicopter.

Hataria: Please don't send 1 million soldiers. They are just to many to be transported by ships and they have no where to hide. Remember Greece is a very small country and armies that big can easily be found by planes.

IC: The Hataian Millitary decided to start off with the Thessalonica Campiagn it self. Known that if Achilles and Olympia (with their Rosian allies) were out of the way, then The Germans would have to give up their Invasion of Greece or be destroyed.

The High Millitary Command decided to send 230,000 Marines, 230 GT-12 light battle tanks and 190 Field Guns to fight the enemy at Thessalonica. To make things hard for Olympia's Forces, The 14th and 2nd Grand battle fleets (The 14th Based in Spain, the 2nd based in Algeria.) would take the Marines to Thessalonica.

The Hatarian Naval presence had been easily detected. It was clear that their primary assault tactic was to use the sea. However, they could not send enough ships to stop the Germans, the Rosians, the Empire, and the Greeks together. No matter how many ships were stationed in the water, the German Reichsmarine could send their own to counter that threat, and could deploy as many anti-ship missiles needed.

Skopje and Albania had been placed under Reich control and even the Metaxas Line had failed to stop the massive, rolling army. While the German Army had suffered over six-hundred men dead and over forty tanks and armored vehicles destroyed, a three-day siege of the Line proved that the Greek Army loyal to Atticus was not as organized and consolidated as it had been under Nikolaos.

If they wanted to face the German Army, then they would get the worst of it. Historically, the Germanic Peoples had always been brilliant tacticians, superb warriors, and when united almost unstoppable. They had set up in defensive positions and the Luftwaffe was prepared to strike when the Hatarians did...

The Royalist forces were surrounded. A Damondred army of 200,000 was South of the Albanian Metaxas Line and there was an overwhelming powerful German Army approaching from the North. General Leonidas felt it was the time to contact Atticus about the situation.

General Leonidas: Damn it! How stupid could I have been? I should have contact Atticus a long time.

First Officer Andreas: Sir, I believe there is nothing else we can do. I doubt Atticus will waste soldiers to get us out of the mess we go ourselves into. Our only option is to surrender or fight to the death.

General Leonidas: You listen to me! We will not surrender to a half blood and those Germans!

First Officer Andreas: I General, love life and don’t want it to see it go to waste because of your mistakes.

General Leonidas: You dare question me? I will have it you see a prison for this treachery.

First Officer Andreas: That is if you live long enough…

The First Officer Andreas quickly drew his sword and gave it one mighty swing at the General’s neck. The rest of the officers just looked with a blank expression as the General’s head rolled on the floor.

Andreas wiped his sword clean on the uniform of Leonidas and sheathed it back in. He gave one last look to the pathetic General and turned to the rest of the officers.

First Officer Andreas: We will surrender first to the Greek rebels and not to the Germans. Even after we surrender we will not give support to any faction until the war is over.

A messenger was sent out to the Damondred forces with a letter of surrender. The Albanian garrison of 80,000 has finally surrendered.

Southern Greece

The Greek Army was on the move. Atticus became aware that he lost the Northern territories. He wasn’t going to lose another territory just to go easy on Olympia. A full mobilization was ordered in the region of Thessalia. Another Army was forming on the Thracian-Constantinople border. He will use his Asia Minor forces as the anvil and his Attican forces as the hammer. He was determined to crush Olympia.

500,000 soldiers gathered on the Thessalian border and another 500,000 soldiers were in Thrace. This was all that was left of Atticu’s forces.

5:02 AM...

Operation Fackel had been ordered to be launched by der Führer. This operation would be a joint-strike by the Reich and Damondred forces to secure Thrace. Commanding this assault was Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb, a 33-year veteran of the German Army.

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/1e/Leeb.jpg

The attack was complicated, but ultimately it was the best option for Damondred and der Führer. The plan was broken down into several parts for the Germans, who were responsible for invading Western Thrace while Damondred invaded the East.

First, the 1st Greek Mechanized Infantry Division - which consisted of Greek Army soldiers who had surrendered to the Germans and were loyal to Damondred - was to strike North-Central Thrace, right in the center of the Northern border. This division would be supported by the 9th Reichswehr Infantry Division; the 3rd, 8th, and 5th Artillerie Divisions; the 52nd and 15th Luftwaffe Divisions; the 5th Panzer Division; and the 3rd OS Division.

This attack was titled 'Army Group A', and was responsible for opening a hole in the Northern defenses of Thrace. Army Group A consisted of a total of over 180 000 combat infantry, 200 fighters, 120 bombers, 350 tanks and armored vehicles, and 700 support vehicles.

Following the attack of Army Group A, the second wave, titled Army Group B, was to open the hole punched in the Northern border a little bit wider, while protecting the flanks of Army Group A. Army Group B, which consisted of half of the 5th Army, would push the hole in the Attican defenses open wider by attacking West and East, respectively, of the breach in the border defenses, while defending the flanks of Army Group A.

The third part of the attack was the job of Army Group C, which would move South and attack to the East and West of the initial strike point, which would sever the main supply, transportation, and escape routes of the Attican Armies present. Furthermore, since it was attacking to the East and West of Army Group A, which was also moving South, it would isolate groups of Attican forces and effectively surround them.

Army Group C's primary purpose was to surround, isolate, demoralize, and confuse the Attican soldiers by opening up two more fronts in Western Thrace alone.

The fourth part of Operation Fackel was to be an airborne assault on the port city of Alexandropoulis. The 1st, 7th, and 14th Fallschirmjäger Divisions - a total of 65 000 combat infantry, 200 Marder-III IFVs, 210 Predator AAAVs, 85 PzG-VI 155mm Field Guns, and 255 Panzer-XI Light Battle Tanks - were responsible for carrying this attack out.

While Army Group C would be wreaking havoc and causing confusion amongst the Attican Armies, the Fallschirmjäger would deliver the final blow in confusing and disorienting the Attican soldiers by quickly dropping behind enemy lines into the most lightly-defended area of Thrace.

Once Alexandropoulis had either capitulated or had surrendered, the 1st, 7th, and 14th Fallschirmjäger Divisions would push North and crush the Attican forces in the West entirely.

However, if this was not enough to defeat the 500 000 man strong Attican Army in Western Thrace, the 2nd Army was on standby in Bulgaria.

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb was speaking with Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian, who had been placed in command of all Panzer attacks involved in Operation Fackel.

[Translated from German]

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "Herr Guderian, see to it that your Panzers operate with maximum and deliver as much firepower as possible. Remember, this is a fast and mobile attack force we are commanding, so do not let your men get bogged-down in the mountainous regions."

Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian: "Of course, Herr von Leeb. As always, my men are prepared. It was wise of you to place the Greek Division in front. Should they decide to retreat, our men will be behind them to make sure they don't."

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "Indeed. Now let's launch this Operation."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The first strike was delivered at 5:42 AM. It consisted of over 21 000 tons of bombs, missiles, artillery shells, and rockets being fired into one concentrated area, with the sole purpose of creating a pocket for the German Army to advance through.

After six hours of bombardment, the time had come for the Army to move in. Army Group A mobilized itself and they were soon performing a brilliant Blitzkrieg maneuver into Thrace...

I have also set aside aerial forces in Russia and Army forces are readying up in Niger and Chad, ready to be flown to a location of your choosing.

And 4 Bombers? Come on, I will shoot them down the second they cross the border. TLS owns Algeria, how the hell do you get to fly planes from his nation?

IC:

The ten F/A-22A Raptors and two F-104X Starfighters took off swiftly from positions in the valleys near the border of the Niger. They had been alerted by a radar tracking two unknown targets above the border. Above the Fighter patrol sat a huge AL-52 Dragon, its laser module in place, ready to fire.

From 200 Miles out the AL-52 began to pick up the two enemy aircraft, B-2's, headed for Niamey. The AL-52 ascended up to 50,000 Ft and its ABL module swiveled into position to fire.

The Fighter lead demanded the unseen enemy to remove themselves from COH airspace. No reply.

The AL-52, flanked by the fighters, moved into position directly in front of oncoming B-2's. The gigantic laser module began to heat up, producing a strange, reddish light at the tip, focusing the energy, and then, to break the peaceful sky, a red line of superheated laser energy lanced out from under the nose of the AL-52, and in the distance one of the bombers became a fireball. A repeat of orders was issued and again there was no reply, except for an AA Missile lancing out into the night.

The ABL module repositioned itself and swatted the missile out of the sky, burning up the engine core and melting away the outer casing. The missile simply fell apart as the engine cover was breached.

Now the ABL swivelled back to its position. The onboard supercomputer targetted the lone B-2 and fire again, another fireball erupting in the distance.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Chad things were not going as smoothly. The two B-2's had already downed 2 F/A-22A's and had simply flown above a screen of flak and AAA fire sent up over a city behind the border. But now two AL-52's had been scrambled.

This would show the Hatarians exaclty what the COH did to unworthy adversaries. No advance warning was given and the dark night was shattered by two superheated beams of intense red laser light and two more B-2's exploded into melted fireballs of twisted metal and composite.

OOC: For a detailed discussion of ABL systems see Layarteb's thread entitled, 'That Strange Light'. And, Hataria, don't ever attack my lands again. Or you'll find your own nation become a very interesting and surprisingly dangerous crater.
Furthermore, I don't care what size your Navy is, I probably have one of the biggest, if not the biggest Navy on Earth. The British Navy would probably equal about 3 of my Fleets, i.e. pathetic. And a 23 Million man Army, oooh..scary...

Radars reported Hatarian Cruise Missiles slamming into various, unknown targets in Thessalonica.

[Translated from German]

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "The hell are they shooting at?"

Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian: "Ich weiss nicht, Herr Leeb. Perhaps there are forces loyal to Olympia there that they have detected?"

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "Perhaps. However, we should learn from past mistakes and not let it distract us from our current task. How far along is the Operation?"

Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian: "The Fallschirmjäger have just landed in Alexandropoulis. This is the beginning of the end for Thrace. It is almost over. Reports indicate massive confusion amongst Attican Forces and large-scale surrendering. However, many of them are fighting to the death. I assume most of them would be doing the same, if they had a cause to fight for. As it stands, this country has no leader and little morale. They would rather be protected under the hands of the Reich and Damondred than live in chaos."

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "This hasn't come without cost. Reports indicate we have lost over 800 soldiers and 25 vehicles in the Battle of Thrace alone."

Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian: "Well, against a 500 000 man army, what do you expect?"

Gerd von Leeb gave Guderian a look of disdain and anger, then responded in a sharp, biting tone.

Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb: "I except our men to do what they are designed to do! We are not some poor, rag-tag Army. This is the Army of the Fourth Reich, Guderian!

Despite what you may think of yourself, I am still your superior whether you command the Panzerkorps or not. Keep that in mind."

Von Leeb turned his back to Guderian and walked out of the room.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Thrace...

The Fallschirmjäger was involved in a bitter firefight with the local militia, making their progress not as quick as Guderian and von Leeb had hoped for. Nonetheless, 27% of the city had been placed under German control and that percentage was growing by the hour.

The Hatarian Navy was moving, obviously for hostile reasons, so the Reich would call upon the Layartebian Empire to assist while the Germans fought on the ground...

High above Greece the Pathfinder Battalion of the 10th Airborne Division was getting ready to jump for five C-141 Starlifters. They would be jumping in behind the North Germanian Fallschirmjäger in Alexandropolis.

They would be the reinforcements and would hopefully route the enemy on the flanks or simply bolster the Fourth Reich lines. The heat of the balmy Meditteranean was almost giving way to the more acrid and dry heat radiating from Turkey, Alexandropolis occupied the limbo between the two climates.

The Airborne soldiers from Chad and the Niger however, weren't even sweating, despite the fact that inside the aircraft, as the launch doors opened, the air was over 100 degrees.

The men inside the Starlifters duck waddled down to the edge of the ramps and then over 1000 Pathfinders took to the sky and began to drop down toward the Fourth Reich's rear positions. In the distance they could see and hear the battle at Alexandropolis.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pathfinders made it onto land safely, their HMMWV's and Trucks dropping safely behind them with paracthutes, only losing one Truck as it rolled over on landing.

Soon the Pathfinders had secured a larger LZ and had left A and B Companies to safeguard it as C, D and E Companies moved off toward the rear of the North Germanian positions.

The HMMWV's and Trucks finally rumbled into the rather large and busy HQ area of their counterparts from the Fourth Reich. Things were still being set up, as the North Germanians themselves had only landed very recently.

The HQ area was well laid out, Germanian precision at work again. Colonel Bill Turner, Commander of 1st Battlaion, 10th Division Pathfinders, dismounted from his HMMWV, chewing vigorously on an obscenely large cigar, two ornate silver M1911 pistols on his hips.

He was waved over to the Command Bunker, which was heavily sandbagged and had been sunken into the ground. He stepped down into it and shook the hand of the North Germanian Officer waiting there. He spoke with the cigar still in his mouth, "Bill Turner, callsign Wild Bill, but you just call me Bill. Glad to be here in Greece. Whats your name partner?"

Province of Thessaly

Atticus was going to lead the attack on the province of Macedonia himself. This was the perfect opportunity since he received news of Olympia’s attack on Thrace. Now that her best general and ally are to busy fighting Thrace, Macedonia is wide open for an attack.

General Atticus: Archimedes, you will divide your forces in two and take the east and west side. I will take my forces and try and break through the defences. We need to capture the town Katerini to get those railroads.

General Archimedes: Don’t worry, Atticus. I will cover your flanks. Good luck and may the gods be with you.

Archimedes, on his horse, rode back to his army while barking commands to his officers. This was Atticus opportunity to surround the German Army between his two Armies and crush them for there betrayal.

The first wave will consist of a lighting fast attack of LBTs and attack helicopters to break the lines. The second wave will consist of 100,000 Hoplites and MBTs. The third wave will consist of an aerial and artillery bombardment. And the first wave had begun. Damondred’s forces, under poor leadership, were breaking lines as the light battle tanks ran over them and the attack helicopters gun them down. After a few minutes of confusion one of the officers was able to put his men back in line and to get them to shoot anti-air missiles at the helicopters. The light tanks continued deeper into the lines a lot of them were destroyed by the enemy tanks and bazookas but there mission was successful. The second wave was immediately launched and soldiers on armoured vehicles and main battle tanks were gunning down the enemy.

The battle went on for 6 hours as the same 3 waves were repeated and repeated with newer troops and tanks. At the end the officers surrendered giving access to Thessalonica through the rail roads to Atticus.

Military HQ, Thessalonica

Thessalonica was on 24/7 watch since the Hatarian fleet was spotted in the Mediterranean Sea. The radar operators were quick to react to the sudden attack from Hataria. They quickly give out the warning and the sirens went on throughout the city.

“This is a warning from the Military HQ. The city is under fire. All citizens in the Port sector evacuate to your designated shelters. I repeat all citizens evacuate to your designated shelters. This is not a evacuation drill.” The message went on and on.

The city’s fortifications were already online and missiles were being launched to intercept the Hataria cruise missiles. From that range the Hatarians would never be able to hit the city while the anti-missiles are being launched. While the missiles were being fired the cannons were in position and waiting for the Hatarian fleet to get in range.

Alexandroupolis, Thrace

The commander in charge of the the city’s security just got off the phone and he really looks angry.

Officer: ¼ of the city has been lost. I can’t believe this actually is happening! A foreigner is finally defeating us!

Alexandroupolis Commander: Not all is lost. We are going to regroup and lead one final assault on the German Army. You and I might die and many others too but we will hit them hard and scar them. They will remember us when our swords cut them apart.

The remaining 20,000 defenders were regrouping as best as possible while under constant German fire at the southernmost part of the city. The commander gave them one last speech to boost what remained of there morale. He spoke of the great Spartans at Thermopylae and how they died fighting the Persians.

“The Germans are the Persians and you are the Spartan. Take this chance to be written down in history!”

A mighty cheer was given off and the soldiers mustered there remaining courage and advanced. Tanks were sent out first followed by heavy infantry while light infantry and snipers fought on the rooftops and in the alleys. The commander was also at the front line fighting. At key street intersections artilleries were being readied to fire. The soldiers fought courageously and when there were times that a soldiers ran out of ammo and did not have enough time to get more he took out his sword and went into an angry killing spree before being finally shot down. No soldier was going to surrender. They will either win or die trying. At key street intersections artilleries were being readied to fire. Ships were also being readied to evacuate any civilian that wished to leave.

Countryside of Thrace

Sounds of artillery explosives can be heard all over the countryside. The Greek Army was being stubborn and was giving a hard time for the German Army to advance deeper into Thrace even though the Germans had the advantage of the uphill. If things were to come to worse ships were ready to evacuate the soldiers and ship them down the river system down to Constantinople were they will give there last stand.

OOC: Sparta Dominion, Damondred is in Thessalonica so she obviously has the protection of the entire army. She is in the military HQ of the city which is filled with thousands of soldiers.

The Pathfinders CO was over at the HQ Bunker when the Greecians launched their attack. The rest of the Division was expected within a few hours, but this attack was premature to say the least.

The remainder of the Pathfinder Companies were sent up to the front to bolster the Fourth Reich's forces. A Company remained to secure the LZ, while B Company moved up.

It seemed like all hell had broken loose at the front lines. The Germanians were taking a pounding from tanks, but were dealing out destruction as fast as they took it. Missiles streaked out from the Germanian positions, turning tanks into smoking hulks of metal in a few seconds.

C and D Companies took the intiative and decided to make a flanking manouevre up and around the city, to harass the enemy on the flanks. Counter Sniper fire could be heard both from the Germanians and from E Companies snipers, some armed with 50.cal M82 Barretts and some armed with Gepard 15.7mm Anti-Material rifles. They sat far behind the chaos, picking off Snipers in the city, and Officers with the advancing troops. The Gepard rifle tore apart infantry vehicles, and when levelled at the Infantry, simply turned the target into human like mush.

Colonel Bill Turner had managed to stumble upon the opportunity to meet the Fourth Reich's best Fallschirmjäger commander, Oberst Heinrich Ritter van der Gild. Needless to say, van der Gild was quite pleased to see that Hirgizstani forces had arrived so quickly. Gild extended his hand and shook Bill's.

Oberst Heinrich Ritter van der Gild: "Bill. I am Oberst Heinrich Ritter van der Gild, Commander of the Fallschirmjäger in Alexandropoulis. Very pleased to meet you. As you can see, the Greeks are fighting traditionally. Very stubborn and very hard.

"I have received word from the Commander of the Greek Theater, Generalfeldmarschal Gerd von Leeb, that Atticus is launching an assault on Macedonia. From what I understand, the German 2nd Army will be able to easily flank his forces. However, it will not be so easy to defeat them.

"While they are equipped with the most modern equipment, weapons, vehicles, and the most experienced men, we are fighting the Greek Army.

"Von Leeb has informed me that their attack is similar to the German style of fighting. That is, to begin the assault with Light Battle Tanks and fast-attack forces, then reinforce them with heavy tanks, artillery, and airstrikes.

"But first things first, we must secure this city. I suggest we pool our resources and launch a massive tank assault on the center of the town. If we can surround the Greek fo-"

Generalfeldmarschal Heinz Guderian had been placed in command of the 2nd Army, which was set to flank the Attican Army in Macedonia and protect Damondred from being captured or killed.

While Guderian was a tank commander to the bitter end, he could also be a very versatile strategist.

In this maneuver, the Germans would rely on 45cm railroad guns, mobile 210mm artillery guns, Kormoran-III MLRS vehicles, and various other artillery pieces. To support them, the 52nd Luftwaffe Division would use every single bomber they had to slow the Greek forces down. Furthermore, thousands of cruise missiles would be fired from the Reichsmarine fleets stationed West of Greece.

Then, in a daring mission, the Schwarzenjäger - the elite black forces of the German Army - would move into the capital before the Attican Army arrived, extract Damondred with or without her permission, and then move her North into German lands where she could safely command her armies.

These men, as well as Damondred, would be caught in crossfire from Hatarian, Attican, German, and Hirgizstani troops while pulling this off. However, Damondred's life was of utmost importance so the risk was worth it...

Able Company 1st Bn. Pathfinders, 10th Airborne Div (2 Corps), was meeting and greeting the scores of Division Paratroopers that sailed onto the ground in waves. They rallied quickly and Able Company men ushered them off toward the Germanian positions, to the sounds of intense fighting.

Light Tanks, APC's, Trucks and HMMWV's had been drooped by C-380's in the specially designed NCT/T-76 pods, and a few UH-60L and AH-94A Helicopters were being prepped under heavy guard, outside the gargantuan pods from the even larger C-380's that droned by over heard, like some godawful buzzard.

LP-M8 Lvl 2. tanks, from a lone Armoured Airborne Regiment from the 16th Armoured Airborne Division, fighting with the 10th Airborne Division. APC's and heavily armoured Humm-Vee's, looking more like tanks, rumbled past, their TOW launchers, Stinger missiles and 50.cal machine guns pointed ahead.

At the Fourth Reich's HQ Colonel Turner ducked down into the bunker, dusty sand raining down on him and Oberst Ritter. Ritter grinned slightly, maybe grimaced, but Turner had a firm smile plastered across his face. He liked this kind of stuff, and couldn't wait to get out to his troops.

Oberst Ritter and Turner stood up, straighening their Uniforms and listening intently to the battle erupt outside. "Well Herr Oberst, looks like we got here just in time. The rest of our boys should be here soon, I need some of your Engineers though, if you can spare them, to get a runway up and running, to bring in helicopters and supplies. With your men and ours working flat out, we'll have helicopters up and running tomorrow night, if all goes well. I'll order my men to dig in behind yours, and get some of my boys to try and flank the enemy, I'll also get some counter-sniper fire going from behind the lines. Will that be all Herr Oberst?"

In Southern Bulgaria Hirgizstanian planes had begun to arrive, via mainland Europe, at sprawling Fourth Reich airfields. Germanian pilots came out to greet the HAF pilots, and they spoke to each other animatedly, some HAF pilots speaking fluent North Germanian.

B-52's and sleekl black F-104X Starfighters began to land at other airfields, behind the sleeker F/A-22A Raptors and other HAF aircraft. Soon they would begin CAP and CAS missions over Greece.

High above in the far north Visara Co. CEO Wilhelm Kaufmann watched with enthusiasm at the power struggle that was engulfing Greece. As one of the countries he respected most on Earth there was little surprise he would show interest, but involvement was another matter. A businesswoman by the name of Olympia Damondred had dared challenge the son of Nikolaos the Great to Greece's throne. That dare would earn Damondred Wilhelm's utmost respect.

It was not only her bravado that impressed Wilhelm but her country. It was in fact the Greeks who had 'civilized' the Bjornoyan pagans centuries ago not with their blood but more importantly with their thought. Without their philosophical and religious influence Bjornoya would have fallen centuries ago. Instead it not only survived but also flourished, much in thanks to the ideas of Byzantine Greeks. As a fair businessman Wilhelm felt this debt centuries after and wanted in some small part to repay it.

Wilhelm had much to lose by Olympia's rise to power, a business minded person in charge of one of the most influential countries on Earth would pose a serious threat to Visara. Wilhelm worried less about the loss and hoped more for the challenge. For years he had been pulling the economical strings throughout Bjornoya's sphere of influence. He knew omnipotence, and was bored with it. When he pulled strings he wanted someone with intelligence and will-power to pull back. Olympia showed that potential.

Aware of Olympia's support in the north Wilhelm shamelessly sent a message to the Generals in charge of more secure regions with instructions to give the information to Olympia and request a response ASAP via a given classified Visara communication line.
