The Reich Expands (ATTN: Comatica & co)

Tocrowkia
26-11-2005, 09:26
Secruteus. A small, pathetic island. A province of Comatica, a nation which the Reich could most likely destroy in a war. The island was probably not even worth conquering, but it had been such a long time since Tocrowkia had a nice little war.

The Generals and Admirals had their eyes on the island for months, and now they were preparing to act on that lust for war and destruction. Stewardess Isabella Reinhard would not be pleased, but the war would be over to fast for her to do anything.

And so it was, that the Reich's Ministry of Defense issued a secret order to it's branches of the Navy, Army, and Air force to go ahead and invade Secruteus. Conquer the little island, and show the world the might of the Tocrowkian military. Add more land to the Reich.

And so it was, that nearly fifty ships and 400,000 men and women were sent to conquer the island that very night.

Emperor Titus pulled on his robe. He had not slept well, and his body would not let him sleep past 4 AM on this morning.
He emerged into the hall, and the Imperial Palace was as bustling as ever, even at this hour. Titus was only beginning to proceed down the corridor to his office when his advisor, Mundatus Veldaem, stopped him.

"Emperor, sir!" he called from down the hall, setting a brisk pace towards him. "Sir, this is urgent."

Titus halted and turned to face him. Mundatus caught up with him, and uttered breathlessly, "Sir, Secruteus is under attack."

Titus felt the bottom drop out of his stomach, and his heart lurch into his throat. He was silent for a moment, then gathered his racing thoughts.

"Who, wha...Who would attack Secruteus...attack Comatica?"

Mundatus swallowed. "We've just sent out probe planes recently, but preliminary reports say that two Comatic frigates 70 miles off the coast of Secruteus were attacked by SSMs from a fleet of over 30 ships. A couple of garbled radio transmissions suggest that one of them was hit."

"Dear God..." spat Titus. "Who was this fleet from?"

"From the frigates' information, it's path was from the Divine Imperial Reich of Tocrowkia."

"What relations do we have with Tocrowkia?" asked Titus tentatively.

"None. I've checked."

Titus was motionless for a nerve-wracking moment. Then, "Have the senate draft a preliminary declaration of war. If it was truly Tocrowkia, then we will invade."

"Sir, do we have the resources for an invasion?"

"We will. I'm pretty sure that we only have near 25 thousand men on duty in Secruteus. If Tocrowkia has as many ships in its fleet as you say it does, then they most likely have hundreds of thousands of troops ready to invade. The initial battle will be undeniably theirs; but a reconnaisance operation will be in order. A massive one."

Mundatus drew a heavy breath. "And in the meantime, sir?"

"I'll issue an order to General Calas of the 305th in Secruteus not to just let the Tocrowkians roll over us. To make sure only to surrender when the casualties get bad. Alert Commander Spaelus to at least hinder the naval fleet. I'll have backup from Narien come; how does Bravo airbourne units 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 sound (OOC: 2,500 paratroopers)?"

"Excellent, sir."

SECRET IC:
War Room in Eastern Secruteus, 5:15 AM

General Marcus Calas stared gloomily at the shadowed faces of the officers he was in charge of. A total of 4 field marshalls presided before him. The other six were scattered throughout Secruteus; Praetelae, Sumala, Caela, Novas Tene. They all had a mission: to hinder the Tocrowkian fleet.

"Be ready for some crazy shit out there," he said to them. The others were on radio, intent on Calas's every word. "I want all of you to make sure that when your decilater sustains heavy casualties, you either get the hell out of there, or throw down your weapons. We don't want 2,500 dead men and women from each decilater for a battle that we will not win."

"Sir," chimed in Field marshall Gasantae. "How do you suggest that we do that?"

"We'll have to try to scatter them," he replied cooly. "If their forces are centralized, then they'll blow right through us. We need decilater B divided by unit. They'll most likely try for Santelus Beach on the south side of the island for their landing craft. So we have decilater C thin their ranks on the beach, and have the two halves of decilater B close in with a pincer tactic. Hopefully, that might be enough to split them in half."

"Our troops are barely organized," said Gasantae. "We only had a moment's notice. Only about half of the troops have reported for duty so far, and it's only a matter of a few hours before the fleet reaches the south side."

"More are reporting every minute," retorted Calas scathingly. "At this rate, the troops might be organized by 8 AM. But we won't have to wait long by then. Spaelus will try to hinder the naval fleet for a little, but he only has 3 frigates, 5 destroyers, 2 nuclear-powered subs, a couple of escorts, and an aircraft carrier. Maybe even a cruiser. That's it. So he'll try the same thing as us; scatter them. Make it so they won't have good order. That may buy us some time.

"In the meantime, get units placed on all major beaches and try to block their entrance. Protect the major bases, like Novas Tene, Kereu, and Exan. Remember; artillery is underrated."

The officers responded with a brief salute, and marched stiffly out to the surface, where they were to be ferried to their destination by chopper.

After they had left, Calas went over his inventory. He had 25,000 commissioned men in the 305th division. He had half of an artillery and armor division, and he was going to use it. The air force base had only about 100 planes altogether; 20 bombers, 5 probe planes, and the rest were fighters. He quivered at the thought of the failure that could occur. Tens of thousands of Comatic lives could be lost, civilian and military. One of Comatica's major oil supplies could be cut off. Calas had to admit to himself; he was scared. It was in the hands of the field marshalls now, to get the troops organized. Calas himself would be tracking their positions, but he would not be directly commanding them. The task now was to contain constant radio contact.

The Flagship of the Tocrowkian fleet at Secruteus, a Super-Dreadnought by the name of Swift Deliverance coordinated the attacks of all the other ships. The SD's own VLS tubes launched missile after missile at the coastal defenses, as well as shelled them with it's powerful turrets.

The Fleet had indeed chosen Santelus Beach for it's invasion sight, and the Destroyers and Frigates began bombarding the beaches. From a distance away, Tocrowkian aircraft were launched from the carriers contained in the fleet. They were heavy bombers charged with bombing any enemy troop movement spotted on Tocrowkia's satellite imaging systems.

The Navy was also at the ready, just in case the enemy decided to throw any ships at them.

Plumes of smoke billowed up from Santelus Beach. It was a half-mile long tourist destination with smooth sand as white as sugar. But this morning, all tourists in the nearby resorts had been evacuated, and impact craters were being blown into the crystaline sand. The makeshift machine gun nests had almost all but been annihilated, and the early dawn air was choked with white dust.

Field Marshall Gaius Peranus was shouting orders at the top of his lungs over the noise of the bombs' whistles and explosions. Decilater C had already sustained heavy casualties, and the invasion fleet was not even ashore yet. The sandy dirt just above the beach was stained with blood, and shrapnal from shells smashing into the resort buildings peppered the palm trees nearby.

"Make sure to get some fire on the armor when it gets on land! Even before that! Try to sink the landing crafts if you can!"

Peranus was not sure if his men had heard him, but he knew that he had to say something. Steel obstacles and mines would not be enough to hold back the fleet. Nothing would. He just hoped that the cruise missles fired from the CES Selao would be remotely effective.

"Sir!" screamed Tollum Seru from behind him. Peranus whipped around. "Sir! We probably have about 100 men dead from my unit, sir! About twice that are injured! Our only missle defenses have long been destroyed, and there are reports of civilian casualties!"

"How in hell are there civilian casualties?" yelled Peranus angrily. "We evacuated everyone from the city!"

"Not everyone, sir!" came Seru's reply. "There were a few poor bastards that refused to believe that a fleet would attack Secruteus, sir! But after the shelling began, they hit the road like shit getting out of here. Some were a little too late, sir!"

"Son of a bitch!" was Peranus's only reply. A shell had just blasted into the triple-width sandbag defense behind Tollum Seru, tearing his arm off and hurtling the rest of him onto the beach, where deck guns from a destroyer not too far off shore made quick work of him.

*******

Commander Laeas at Kereu Air Force base across the mountains had only just issued the order for 50 X42 wielders to try to make work of any bombers in the south, when Tollum Ceren knocked on the door to his office.

"Sir?" called Ceren from hallway. "Sir, you must take the escort to Narien now. The order comes from General Calas himself."

"I'm not going to leave my men here alone," he called back with finality.

"Sir, they won't be alone. I'm not leaving. I'm capable of commanding them."

"I know you are, Tollum, but I wouldn't have a clear conscience, and I want them to know that their superior officer, who has been with them for months, will not desert them. I want their morale to stay up."

"You do know you will get chewed out by General Calas for this, sir?"

"Absolutely. I wouldn't expect anything less of Marcus. But I want to see these men succeed, if only for a little while."

Ceren sighed. "Very well, sir. I will alert divisonal that you are remaining here with your men."

After Ceren left, Commander Laeas dialed a phone number with two extensions. Togas Captain Iere answered. "Iere! Did the wielders take off safely?"

The quiet, yet somehow commanding voice of Claudius Iere responded immediately. "Yes, sir, they departed 20 minutes ago. They're at about 650 miles per hour right now, near the Helveti River."

"Did Decilater B spot the bombers yet?"

"Yes, sir, just a few moments ago, in fact. They only saw five out over the sea, but there are most likely many more. Also, the Selao recently fired about 8 cruise missles at the Super-Dreadnought and it's escorts. The wielders will fire many more towards the fleet soon enough, sir."

*******

Emperor Titus strode out onto the press conference stage with quivering hands. The podium was painted with the Imperecuus coat of arms, and a velvet Comatic flag was draped behind it.

Titus drew in a shuddering breath. "On this day," he began. "On this day, the Imperial province of Secruteus was attacked, and soon to be invaded by a foreign force."

The reporters broke out in frantic whispers as camera flashes illuminated the room.

"This foreign force was unprovoked and lanched a massive assault on the island by land, sea, and air. This foreign force has already killed soldiers and civilians alike. This foreign force is the Divine Imperial Reich of Tocrowkia."

The reporters quieted almost instantly. Titus paused for a moment, then continued. "We have little military presence on the island compared to the invading force. The battle has already been decided, but we find it necessary to fight and hinder their force, if only for a moment.

"As a result, the Imperial Senate has drafted a declaration of war on Tocrowkia, and we intend to let them feel the swift retaliation of the Comatic miltary."

The reporters began barraging the Emperor with questions. "What, do you expect, this invasion was instigated by?" asked one female reporter after Titus pointed to her.

Titus paused again for a moment, then cleared his throat. "The same thing that instigated the invasion in 1843. Accelius III saw that Secruteus had many natural resources, such as gold, silver, and iron, and realized the enormous benefits of owning that land."

Titus went on answering questions for 15 minutes, many of which he could not answer.

As cruise missiles were large, and relatively slow, Swift Deliverance would have an easy time shooting them down with her Anti-Missile weaponry. That, and the fact it was guarded by many Frigates and Destroyers that formed a tight Phalanx over their flag-ship meant the Cruise Missiles would not likely get far.

The logistics of the invasion had already been arranged. An additional 560,000 personnel had been arranged to supply the soldiers with everything they needed during the invasion. The fact that of the 400,000 men and women the fleet contained, only about 150,000 would take part in the initial invasion meant the logistics aspect of the invasion would, most likely, be a success.

The fleet continued to fire on the beach, while the Jets and Bombers would wreak havoc on any formation trying to reach them and resist the landing, which was coming up soon.

8:10 AM

Field Marshall Peranus's men had retreated about two blocks into the resort city of Meseus, a small metropolis of 350,000 people situated between the sea and a rocky cliff 450 feet high. Above that cliff, the land flattened out almost immediately, and the ground descended gently to 500 feet above sea level about 10 miles inland. If C decilater was blocked off to the east and west, which was almost certain, they would have no where to go.

A small skyscraper rose about 300 feet above Peranus and his men. The beach had been obliterated beyond recognition, and strewn with body parts and injured and wailing men that would recieve no help. The thought made Peranus draw in a shuddering breath that was akin to a sob.

A scout was perched on the twenty-fifth floor of the entirely glass building. He removed the pane of glass and pulled out his long-range scope, surveying the fleet with deft hands and knowing eyes. The radio beside Peranus crackled, and the scout's quavering voice skidded out from behind the static.

"They're showing a few signs of letting up their bombardment, but that might not be a good thing. Hold on. Over."

"Roger that, scout," answered Peranus. The troops around him all turned to face the radio.

A few moments later, the scout's voice sounded again. "It looks like they're starting to load the landing crafts now. Tanks and artillery. Jesus. They must have over a hundred tanks."

Peranus swallowed heavily. Between B and C Decilater, they only had 60 tanks.

"Sir? Do you copy?"

Peranus looked up. He had gotten lost in his own thoughts and fears.

"Yeah, I copy. Over."

"Alright then. There's..."

The unmistakable noise of shattering glass splintered the morning air. The twenty-fifth and sixth floor windows in the building were blown out by a 20-millimeter deck gun from the fleet, rendering the scout's body plummeting to the avenue below, peeled apart by the large shells.

The soldiers recoiled to the opposite sidewalk as the body smashed through the roof of a car left by evacuees on the street. They were all silent.

******

The droning of aircraft engines faded out from the distance just as Tocrowkian heavy bombers began dropping munitions into the downtown area of Meseus. The remaining soldiers had taken shelter in a parking garage; a total of 450, most of them with small injuries.

The sound of the jet engines grew louder, until Peranus could not mistake it. An X42 Wielder. He hoped to God that there was enough to take out the bombers, but it seemed highly unlikely. Perhaps enough to make an impression. He held onto that thought.

The bombers disappeared behind the cliff, flying deeper into mainland. The sound of an aerial clash radiated out from the area, and sounds of crashes and hits and misses. It wasn't long before SAMs drom the fleet soared out to the battle area. The sounds went on for an agonizing 30 minutes, Peranus not knowing what was going on now and what was going to happen. The sounds faded away, and he assumed that the planes were ascending higher and higher, until the sounds could not be heard.

The bombers did not return, so Peranus felt a wave of relief wash over him. But a few minutes later, the sound of a Wielder engine came closer and closer, only sounding rattly and strained. It came closer faster and faster, until the noise was overwhelming. Then the Wielder sprung out from behind the cliff, black smoke spiraling out from its tail, and smashed into the upper levels of the glass building the scout had been spying from. The steel frame, aglow from the flames, blew apart and scattered out onto the blocks below, showering the downtown area with shards of glass. The rest of the building seemed to tip over; reeling from the force of the crash and dismembering itself by implosion.

Peranus stood motionless, along with his soldiers. The bombers returned 10 minutes later, and continued their raid, as ferocious as ever.

OOC: If you want to RP the aerial battle, go ahead. Just assume that most of the 50 jets were destroyed. Have a few escape, though. I don't wanna look like a total loser...:p

We implore you to stay out of this conflict, as it will be the healthiest decision for your nation. Now is not the time to go to war with Tocrowkia. Tocrowkia was confident that this invasion would be relatively bloodless, considering just how much destruction they had already dealt to the enemy...

450 soldiers stormed up towards the beach, to what was left of theirsandbag fortifications. This time, fire from hand-held weaponry cracked the breezy morning air; troops with no where to hide were struck down in a whirling fog of dust and smoke from the bullets. They popped out occasionally to issue covering fire for the men daring enough to take on the tanks. They armed hand grenades and did anything to disarm or immobilize the giant steel beasts. Though they were often killed in the process, they stuffed the grenades down the missile tubes of the tanks, threw them towards the treads, and shoved them into viewing ports.

The reinforcements from B decilater had arrived, but had been beaten down by bombers. Only about 30 Comatic tanks survived.

The land mines set down by Field Marshall Peranus and his men were not all that effective. And with the relentless pushing of Tocrowkia's forces, with the mountains of bodies forming, and pools of blood sweeping out over the beaches, Peranus swallowed hard, and made a difficult choice. He put in a call to General Calas, and ordered a cease fire. B and C Decilaters, a total of 900 men and women that could walk, were surrendering.

We refuse. We are trying to make this as bloodless as possible, as the Comatican's are only making this worse on them selves by resisting the Reich's armies. We implore you to stay out of this conflict, as it will be the healthiest decision for your nation. Now is not the time to go to war with Tocrowkia. Our Military is a better shape now than it has been in decades, and our projection capability is nigh on unlimited. We would hate to bring a conflict you entered to the vary gates of your nation. Please. Stay out. It's in every one's interest.

Private message to tocrowkia:
you will regret that decision. while we alone may not be able to stop you, if you attack us, the entire CIN will back us up, and you do NOT have the force to resist us all at the same time. surrender. now. if you do not, we will push you back out of secruteus. you will then be given one more chance before we crush your nation like a bug. that is all.

Its a map of the Barrow Sea, which is where the island of Secruteus is located. Also, to the west of Secruteus (Which is shown in relation to the Comatic mainland), is the island chain of Narien. That's where the landing strips will be located, and most likely where the reconnaisance mission will be launched from.

OOC: I would have to agree with that. While I'm not familiar with the CIN's amount of members, any major alliance entering this RP would sorta...kill the personal element, if there is one. We don't want this to turn into a dogpile, and pitting one nation against so many isn't right.

OOC: Back to the IC, if only for a moment :D

IC:

3:00 PM
General Marcus Calas groaned and buried his face in his hands. Every 10 minutes, reports came leaking in that another unit surrendered, another platoon was entirely decimated, another base bombed. Exan was taken, and all of the ships in the naval harbor near Praetalae were either ablaze or lay split apart at the bottom of the sea. Almost all of the sailors on the CES Selao were dead. And the few that had made it onto lifeboats were viciously torn into shreds by large-caliber bullets.

The Tocrowkians had managed to take the entire eastern half of Secruteus by noon. The rest of the island was only the matter of time before the Reich had overrun it as well.

General Calas, reletively safe in his bunker hidden 100 feet below the surface, out in the wilds of the mountainous east, had 15 days worth of supplies for him, his aides, and his guards. He only hoped that the rest of the Comatic military would be in Secruteus by then.

OOC2: The Comatic resistance was pretty much stamped out. Losses: 6,021 dead, 2,487 injured, but will remain alive.

So pretty much, you have 19,000 POWs.

OOC: the CIN has no call to be in this thread really, and as long as no major military conflicts elsewhere break out between me and tocrowkia then they wont be in the war at all cos i wont ask them to help me cos i wont need them. if, say, tocrowkian SDs try to break my blockade, then we can start a new CIN versus Tocrowkia thread, in which that can go. and into which, all the CIN nations will go. comatica may also be in on the CIN side but thats not necessary. so:

@CIN people:
unless you are fighting in defence of comatica, a non-CIN nation, which is up to you, you have no call from me to help, yet.

(Let me know if you think these losses are to low. I'll be happy to raise them)

The Invasion of Secruteus had been a startling success and a major Tocrowkian victory. It had cost the Reich only twenty four men and three tanks. The Admirals and Generals expected the rest of the small island to fall by early next morning.

Already, massive defensive structures were being prepared to protect Tocrowkia's new prize, especially along the beaches they had entered from. Massive POW camps were also being prepared to hold the Comatican soldiers that had surrendered.

All over the island, songs and cheers could be heard in celebration of the victory, as well as the pops of champagne bottle corks and the pouring of the liquid. A glorious day for the Reich indeed.

But then, whilst those soldiers of the reich were celebrating, the now-joined up NSAA naval forces were sailing southwards, towards the tocrowkian naval forces that supported the invasion, looking to engage. several small, fast warships dart away from the main NSAA fleet and move up to observe any actions the enemy might take, with one particularly foolhardy commander going all the way up to just inside the range of his cruise missiles.

Inside a Top-Secret Tocrowkian bunker, dozens of personnel observed the NSAA ships approaching from satellite imaging.

"Are those ours?"

Questioned a blurred voice over the com.

"Negative. They don't appear to be friendly’s, either."

Replied one of the personnel into the com over his mouth.

"Take them out."

The voice ordered again.

"Roger. Prepping Platform..."

Thousands of miles above earth, a satellite in near-Earth orbit came to life. After it's systems ran various check ups, several large 60 mm shells were loaded into the canon. The advanced AI guided the platform to target the NSAA ships, and fired three rounds at each. Given the fact that several smaller platforms were pointing lasers at the ships, and the fact it had it's own laser guide, made sure that each shell would almost positively hit their target...

After five days of preparations of the Empire, a fleet that would dwarf any other organized by Comatica had amassed among the islands of Narien. Bombers and fighters where flying in ever minute from all over Narien, mainland, and Delntum, another Comatic island province. Comatica's navy had organized into an invading fleet of 615 ships. Almost 550,000 men and sailors were being prepared in haste for the invasion, dubbed, Operation: Horse's Head. 2,100 combat fighters, including bombers, were stationed throughout the Barrow Sea. Comatica's Senatorat Dacius Lonus would have put in a request to send more, but Secrutues, with many oil wells drilled, had been Comatica's major supplier until one week ago. All the same, the Impericuum emergency oil reserve had been utilized to launch this attack.

One leg of the invading force would attack from eastern Narien. The northern force would come from Delntum, and the third attack group would sail from western Ladinah (OOC: all of those are on the Barrow Sea map that I provided a few posts ago). The ships, along with the forces from No_State_At_All and Velkya, would form a tight blockade around the island province, cutting off any Reich reinforcements. Then, the hundreds of thousands of troops would batter the island and force the Tocrowkians into a tight spot, alone on the island.

OOC: scarily low on navy, comatica, by no means high...

IC, from a NSAA sattelite monitoring station under the capital:
"Sir" a sensor operative said into his mike, "i read a large number of sattelites with LOS on our secruteus deployment powering up and turning. yes, they're now firing, i read multiple solid objects heading down from orbit, trajectories calculating."
"okay, naval ops, call the fleet admiral, warn him that he has incoming orbital shells and that he should take evasive manouvers. then whoever picked them up, send the courses of the shells to his command ship via our sattelite data streaming network. and hurry."
"yes sir."
"yes sir."
"also, C-Sat ops, target the firing sats and hit them back."

The NSAA ships, being prepared for combat are in a widely spread formation.
As the computer aboard the command cruiser is sent the trajectories of the falling shells, it guides the fleet's radar to pick them up well before they arrive at the surface, and flashes course corrections on it's operator's screen, which they then pass on to the ships that need to dodge. naturally, the important craft take precedence, so almost all of those get out of the way in time, while most of the smaller craft either get out of the ay anyway, were missed, or just started standard evasive manouvers and were out of the way anyway.
a few of the shells are also knocked away from ships by frantic work by the fleet's CRADS air defence systems.

OOC: i'm not an orbit-to-ground weaponry type guy, someone fill me in on how much damage one of those things will do to different ship types...

IC again:
ships hit:
1 Cruiser,
3 Destroyers,
1 missile destroyer,
7 Frigates,
4 Missile frigates,
1 "waverider" class hydrofoil,
12 assorted other lesser warships,
3 fleet auxilaries, including a glancing blow to one tanker.

IC from orbit:
near the tocrowkian sattelite grouping, two apparently harmless but badly overweight NSAA com-sats come to life, swing around slightly in orbit, suddenly change their configuration as panels open in both the sides facing the tocrowkian sattelites and the side away from them, and lay down a barrage of guided missiles (30 each) at the tocrowkian sattelites

OOC: i really dont like the untouchable power of sky-death, so i try to come up with methods of counter-acting most sattelite weapons, the only ones i know of that i cant counter easily is sattelite-based missiles, and obviously anything fired at cities or land from orbit... aaanyway...

Serana Air Base, 2100 hours

The airbase was filled with the sounds of aircraft. ISF-4s began to taxi unto their runways, as bomb-laden Liberators pulled from their massive hangers. A sqaudron of aircraft made their way to Runway 3, each bearing a single blue ribbon on their left tail stablelizer. Mobius Sqaudron. The grey fighters, lead by a bluish-grey ISF-4, taxied single file to the strip. Mobius's leader, Colonel Lance Weston, callsign Raven, began to speak to his pilots.

"Ok boys, you know the briefing, escort the bombers, make sure they get in and deliver their ordinence on target, then get them out, roger?"

A casacade of positive acknowlegements followed, as Raven positioned himself on the runway.

"Mobieus 1, cleared for takeoff!"

The engines of the Xeon roared their approval, and the fighter slowed gained speed, screaming down the runway. It hit 200 knots and Raven pulled the stick close to him, sending the ISF-4 roaring into the heavens. Within minutes, the entire 50 aircraft formation was in the air, two ISF-4 squadrons, one ISF-2 squadron, a flight of ten Liberator IIs, two EW-4 AWACs craft and a pair of TC-42 tanker craft. Heading for the enflamed island of Secruteus, the commanders of the 4th Air Wing hoped to strike a lethal blow to the Reich forces there before they even scrambled fighters.

Accellius Air Force Base, Southern Delntum; 2130 Hours

"Confirmed, Velkya's ISF-4's are in the air," called a communications manager. Commander Laeas, who had been at Kereu Airbase the morning of the invasion, was in command of the aircraft forces leaving for Secruteus.

"Excellent," replied Laeas to the manager. "Have the Blackrod bombers depart. Make sure their G-41C Monitor escorts are fully prepped. They're bound to have some sort of SAM support from their navy, so tell them again to be as careful as possible. The Reich has been waiting for us."

"Aye, sir."

Several minutes later, the 45 A-TU40 Blackrod Bombers' massive engines could be heard fading off into the distance, along with their very well-trained escort fighters.

"Sir," said the familiar voice of Tollum Ceren from behind Laeas. "General Vaser of the 202nd wants a briefing of the mission at hand, sir."

"Send him to the conference room," said Laeas swiftly.

Several more minutes later, Laeas strode briskly into the conference room to find Vaser, along with several other generals in the invasion force, waiting for him.

Vaser stood up. "Now, Laeas, what's going on with the bomber force?"

Laeas nodded. "Yes, sir. The Blackrods will attack shoreline defenses on the north side of the island. The aircraft squadron from Ladinah will attack the south side, near Praetalae. Both forces will be accompanied by a bomber and fighter squadron to defend against any naval resistance, ensuring a smooth flight to their target."

"And Velkya?" asked Vaser, seemingly nervously.

"They're on their way to their targets too, sir."

"And what will ahppen when Tocrowkia's jets are scrambled?"

"In about half an hour, sir, we're going to send a Wing Unit of about 300 X42 Wielders to take control of the air. Also, for your airbourne division (OOC: 20,000 paratroopers), we're gonna make sure that they're unhindered. Some more Wielders as escorts should do the trick."

General Vaser let out a long, heavy sigh. "You know when my paratroopers are going to be deployed, right?"

"The planes are going to leave as soon as word comes back that the coastal defenses have been hit. Then we'll begin the encirclement of the island."

Several dozen miles off Secruteus coastline

The Velkyan task force, after traveling to the island, began to anchor off the coast of Secruteus. Velkyan HHTs poured from the fleet, carrying in total almost 100,000 troops and thousands of tanks and vehicles. The Jalik IIs in the group began to fire cruise missiles into the Reich positions on the mainland, as AC-5 gunships from the 4th Air Wing zoomed overhead, ready to destroy any incoming enemy tanks. Four ISF-2 squadrons flew a CAP mission overhead, ensuring that if the Tocrowkians managed to scramble fighters, they would be shot down immeditaly.

As over 2,000 HHTs made their way to the coastline of the island, orbital rail guns of the AUSF began to fire upon the entrenched Tocrowkian troops, hoping to demoralize them in preperation for allied landings. The aerial attack force launched from Serana screamed over the invasion force at high altitude, headed for the enemy fleet docked nearby.

North Shore of Secruteus, 2200 hours

Massive amounts of ordinance began to rain on the Tocrowkian coastal defenses. Several anit-aircraft missiles were fired in vain at the bombing squadron, but they were either destroyed midway or did little damage. Just as black smoke began to rise menacingly from the superstructues mounted by Tocrowkian engineers, the backup Wielders came into view, along with the ships from the fleet, ready to barrage the coast with shells and as many cuise missiles as possible.

30 minutes later, the telltale drone of paratrooper transports swept over the beaches of northern Secruteus, each carrying dozens of soldiers. The escorts attempted to destroy any any anti-aircraft /guns they could find, but some slipped past them. One even got a shot off at the transports, but it was knocked away as soon as it ascended off the ground.

*******

"E.T.A, 30 seconds!" the pilot yelled back to Togas Dasus, in command of the airbourne platoon to be launched.
"Gotcha!" he called back. "Okay!" he began, addressing the troops now. "Don't fuck around down there; just get to the rallying point as fast as you can. The whole unit'll be there, then we'll lead a couple assaults on the backsides of those coastal defenses, and open the door for the men landing in about an hour!"

"We're at the drop point!" called the pilot, his voice cracking with nervousness (OOC: is that a word?).

Dasus nodded, and pulled open the door. A rush of chill air greeted him. "Go, now!" he yelled to the first paratrooper. He leapt from the plane, followed by a flowing line of troops. Dasus himself just got in line when a barrage of bullets began to puch holes in the side of the plane. The paratrooper about to jump hesitated, and as a result, he was caught in the chest by a round. The next man in line did not hesitate, obviously not wanting to meet the same fate.

Togas Dasus was the last man to jump. By then, the transport had been riddled with hundreds of holes. Seconds after he jumped, a missile nicked the tail edge of the plane and sent it spiraling through the night, eventually breaking apart.

The night sky had an eeire, orange glow to it; the warm tropical wind felt spectacular to Dasus, who had never been farther south than Delntum.

The sky around him was clouded with parachutes of thousands of men. From his birds-eye view, he could notice minuscule figures scrambling across the dark earth. He would soon join them.

*******

Dasus was receiving heavy fire. He was hidden amongst the tall grtass in a field the size of a football field, plumes of smoke rising from the ground from the impact of rifle fire. He stood up for a few seconds and set about ten rounds into the underbrush from which he was being fired upon. The firing ceased for a few moments. He took advantage of it, and hurtled across the field northward, shooting glances at his digital compass at his belt.

He took cover in some bushes on the north end of the field, and gazed back. Dozens of Comatic troops were sprinting across the grass as he had, with figures with a darker uniform he recognized as Tocrowkian at their tail. He provided a magazine's worth of covering fire, then proceded through the almost pitch black forest northward.

The whole atmosphere seemed surreal, or dreamlike. Dasus felt as if he was not moving his legs; they were gliding along by themselves. After two minutes worth of running, he encountered the body of a man. He halted immediately, and leaned in closer to identify the man's nationality. He was Comatic.

Dasus tore the dog tag off and prepared to begin running again. But the body lifted his head. "I'm not dead," the man said, his voice sounding strained and choked. Dasus nearly jumped out of his skin. "You...what happened, then?" asked Dasus stupidly, his hands shaking.

The man coughed. He emitted a yelp of pain. "I...I was hit with a rifle shot about 10 minutes ago. Right in the chest." He squirmed.

Dasus barely even breathed. He knew this man had no chance.

"Are you a medic?" continued the man, his voice hopeful but sullen at the same time.

Dasus nearly burst out in tears. He pulled his act together, and kneeled down next to the dying man. "Yes, yes I am," he lied, "and you're going to be okay."

The man then cried out in an apparent frenzy of pain, thrashing around uncontrollably. After he settled down, he said quietly, "good, good....."

Dasus pulled out a small field shot of morphine, and dug it into the man's leg. "Is this gonna make me feel better?" the man said even quieter.

"Yes," replied Dasus. "Better than ever."

"Thank you..." he said, almost silently. He repeated it. "Thank you, thank you, thank you...." quieter and quieter each time, until he trailed off, and his labored breathing ceased altogether.

*******

The rallying point was bustling with men. Some sporting minor wounds, others with entire arms blown off. But most of them were unharmed, but shaken after their first battle. They were a mile south of Ouanum beach, the place where a large part of Comatica's forces would be landing. 10,000, to be exact, and 350 tanks. The screeching of shells in the air and the rumbles of impacts could be heard from their position, and was nerve-wracking for many. They would consolidate into a decilater (OOC: A decilater is 2,000 men, in this battalion, at least. Check my factbook for full details.), and lead an assault on the backside of the beach's defenses. They would soon be joined by several other decilaters after the initial battle.

OOC: About 11 men were killed in the firefight after landing, 16 injured, and 4 are MIA.

as the NSAA ships enter missile range, one of the missile destroyers empties its entire battery at the tocrowkian fleet. the missiles shoot off from the destroyer in quick succession, then make a formation two abreast at a height of only 8m from the wave tops. they maintain this height until impact, to test the depress-ability of the enemy ship's CIWS. the destroyer then re-loads.

**Orbital Platform Attack**

Small hatches on the satellites flanks opened up, and it spit out several dozen small metallic spheres. They looked harmless enough, but as soon as the hatches closed up, they unleashed an impressive laser show out of hundreds of small holes all across the spheres. These were computer-scrambling lasers, and they virtually nullified the missile attack. As the now defunct missiles floated away lifelessly into the black void, several smaller platforms came closer to the Ortillery, and took aim. They fired their powerful Magnetic Accelerator Cannon(MAC's) at the NSAA platforms. As these projectiles traveled at almost Mach 7, there was little hope that the NSAA platforms would escape.

**The Air War**

There was no need for the Reich to scramble anything, as since the Island was taken, three squadrons of Raven-XG3T's were always in the air. They were alerted to the presence of the large formation of enemy aircraft. The Squadrons intercepted the force that was heading for their navy, and began to tear it apart with missiles, as well as flak and SAM support from the ground. This was the first serious tactical error that the Allies made, and they would pay for it with their pilot's blood.

**The Landing**

Tocrowkia had the strength of eight divisions of twenty thousand soldiers each to stall the landing force, and it would exploit these resources. For the most part, the Reich's armies made the landing relatively easy for the Allies, and only attacked the forces when the moved in land. This meant that Naval support would be at a shut down, and the enemy troops would not have the logistics to hold out long once they were trapped by the Tocrowkian forces. Additionally, those Orbital Weapons Platforms(OWP's) not engaged in combat against the NSAA satellites began to use their MAC's to shell the enemy landing forces from orbit. In addition to Ortillery, the Reich also had a large disposal of Artillery. The artillery cannons of the Reich shelled the landing zones mercilessly and without end, hoping to inflict as many casualties as possible.

They then released a barrage of SEAD missiles at the enemy SAMs, which had fired on aircraft traveling at 90,000 feet, the first tactical mistake of the Reich in this battle. The AWACs assigned to the theater began to pick up multiple fighter contacts incoming on the sqaudrons.

"Mobius and Corinth sqaudrons, break off and engage the enemy fighters, Hawk, stay up with the Liberators and escort them."

Mobius 1 recieved the order, and flipped to his sqaudron's channel.

"Alright boys, us and Corinth are going to take on these enemy fighters while Hawk and the bombers engage the enemy positions on the coast. Activate active camo and turn on your EW suites, we're going in."

The 24 aicraft began to reroute from the main force, heading for the enemy fighters. Turning on their EW suites and their active camoflauge, they accelerated to Mach 3, releasing a wave of ALRAAMs at the incoming enemy fighters. The fighters seperated into four groups, two going in from either side of the enemy formation, the other two going from up and down. Six fighters in each group split off, arming their QMAAMs.

"Alright boys, let's kick some ass!"

OOC: I won't pretend to know as much as Velkya about aerial warfare, so please don't mock me for my idiot post.

IC: The Wing Unit of 300 Wielders caught up with the bombers and added some support against the anit-aircraft fire. The fleet's 27 aircraft carriers launched dozens more fighters, these being G-41C Monitors. They were sent to engage the Reich's Ravens and attempt to render them scrap metal hurtling from the sky.
The bombers were to receive more bomber support from the airbase in Ladinah, and a substantial amount from Delntum shortly afterward. They were to protect the men landing from sea, and attempt to disable the artillery pummeling the beaches. Massive amounts of payload, as much as each bomber could, in good conscience, deliver to the Reich's defenses, were punched into the ground. Also, they were to bomb enemy troop movement and keep them from advancing anywhere, and try to escort the landing forces to a reletively low-casualty invasion.

*******

Sergeant Nuio gripped his weapon tightly, until his knuckles burned. His landing craft was about 4 miles from shore, and already it was receiving heavy artillery fire. The explosions in the dark seawater kicked up a warm ocean spray, but he still shivered under the tropical ocean rain.

Several times a shell came so close it nearly knocked his landing craft over. Each time that happened, the bottom seemed to drop out of his stomach. Each foot that the boat advanced, it brought him closer and closer to the first really life-threatening battle he's had.

The bombers and guns from the fleet delivered a merciless beating to the beach's defenses. The whole shoreline was enveloped in a cloud of smoke darker than the night itself, and a ball of fire brighter than the afternoon before.

The barrage on the beach let up a little as the first landing craft made it ashore, with tanks and artillery, and a few troops. Here, on the north side of the island, there would be an initial force of 75,000 troops, and 65 thousand on the sounth side. But by morning, another 125,000 will have landed on both shores, along with about 5,000 tanks. By the end of the next day, there would be 520,000 Comatic troops on the island, and 6,500 tanks. More troops would still be on the way.

Nuio's landing craft jolted ashore. Sporatic machine gun fire cut down the first few ranks of men to step out, but Nuio ducked low and sprinted onto land and hid in an impact crater.

The scene on the beach was a mess to the eyes and ears. The constant booming of the dozens of Comatic tanks echoed far and wide. Not only on Ouanum Beach, but all over Secruteus. The shoreline was shrounded with smoke, but he could make out figures racing inland, towards the Tocrowkian resistance, and figures firing back at them.

Nuio popped up from his protective cover and delivered covering fire for the Comatic soldiers. He burrowed back into his hiding place to replace a spent magazine, when a Tocrowkian shell exploded next to the crater, spewing rock and clodded sand outward.

After another minute of doing a prairie-dog type fire on the Tocrowkian military, he made a dash towards the defenses, firing wildly at the Reich's soldiers. Bursts of dust 3 feet high erupted around him as machine gun bullets impacted the sand, but he charged on. One of them struck his helmet, and dazed him for a second. He slammed against the ground painfully.

Nuio lifted his head, and looked around as if he had just woken up from a deep sleep. Artillery shells burst on the beach behind him, tearing off limbs and shredding necks. A man that lay dead but 4 feet away had had his face peeled off by a hand grenade explosion. With that, Nuio lifted his weapon and trudged on, into the thick, perilous smoke.

We do not know exactly what the Tocrowkian government's thought process was when it decided to invade Comatic land, but one thing is for certain: It will not go unpunished. By invading the imperial province of Secruteus, you sent out a call that the Reich is a reckless force that must be stopped, lest a nation be destroyed entirely. That it will instigate an international war to gain only 60,000 square miles to an already expansive empire, and to show the world it's bluntly demonstrated thickheadedness. Well, we are answering that call, and you have already begun to feel the effects. It will not end with the reconnaisance mission of our valued territory, but continue until you have paid the Imperium back for the suffering you have inflicted upon it's people. That is a price that can only be paid through a declaration of war.

With the buzz of the printers printing off reports and telephones ringing was the room of Moorington High Command. Located in the center of Moorington it was the nerve center of all military matters.

"Command, we have begun the reconnaissance", the man on the screen was reporting through a web cam of poor quality and froze regularly, "for the most part the conscripts have no real espirit de corps with tight regulations to keep their barbaric impulses in check."

Lundendorf Von Bruan, the newly appointed commander of Front: West replied, "we will begin preparations for invasion momentarily but the preparations will take some time getting our forces from one side to the other."

An ensign looked over to the Supreme General, "sir may I ask what side should our forces be preparing for?"

The general moved his eyes over to the ensign "that will be revealed in due time."

((OOC: Eh, what? What do you mean by at what power on impact hit your sattelites?))

**The Navy**

As the Tocrowkian navy possessed incredible anti-missile technology, and the fact that it was on the other side of the Island meant that most of the missiles fired by NSAA were shot down immediately. Though one Frigate captain got careless and got his ship hit and sunk. The Task Force then detected the Naval force heading it's way via Satellite imaging, and began to prepare to defend it's assigned beaches.

**The Air Battle*
Many of the Ravens that were targeted managed to use their decoy systems to dodge the missiles. Still, several Ravens were hit and destroyed instantly. The Ravens predicted the enemy split, and did so them selves, each group taking on their respective enemy formations. The Reich's pilots were masters of their trade, and the Raven XG3T was an advanced and expensive piece of equipment. They would not be easily swatted out of the sky as their enemy may have thought.

**The Landing**

The battle plan was continuing much the same as it had. Although an armored and infantry division was being moved closer to the beach, and a Squadron of Raven's had been called up to protect the Artillery. The Allies would be hard pressed to punch through the Tocrowkian lines...

White fire lit up the sky ominously. A fierce aerial clash was collectively being perpetuated by both forces. Soldiers on the beach watched as several Monitors splintered under the hammer of Tocrowkia's Ravens. This didn't discourage the Comatic pilots, however. Flak and SAM support from the fleet not too far off shore added a little to the fight, but it was mostly fast-paced dogfighting between the Reich's Ravens and Comatica's Monitors. General Surnau of the 117th put in an urgent request for more air support. It would most likely be met, as the Ravens were, for the most part, superior machines. The force being called in was Epsilon 5, a formation of 75 of the Comatic Air Force's most brilliant pilots. While the bombers were hindered by the Ravens, the navybeat the coastal defenses with shells and missiles; the troops were told not to go too far onshore until the artillery was letting up.

Senatorat Hencaeus, the officer in charge of the entire operation, then began to focus on the smaller beaches on the north side of the island. They were so numerous, he figured that Tocrowkia's Luftwaffe couldn't guard them all.

"They didn't listen to us," Titus uttered, exasperated. "Well, have the IAF on alert for an attack; also, send an email to Tiro on the situation. Make sure he calls me on the request for more fighters in the battle area."

"Yes, sir," came Mundatus's many-time uttered reply. He walked briskly from Titus's office, leaving the Emperor combing through his email on his Powerbook. The Mail application was flooded with dozens of messages from generals and IIA officials. About 10 minutes later, the black panasonic phone on his desk let out it's electronicized chirp, startling Titus from the dark room's sleepily suggestive glow.

"Yeah," he growled into the receiver, forgetting who it was most likely from.

Minister of Defense Tiro Santaelium's raspy, almost senior-like voice stabbed out from the earpiece. "I just got your email. What's the situation with Moorington?"

"The sons of bitches ignored us. They're apparently going to send their forces to Secruteus as planned, so we need more support."

"Damn 'em," cursed Tiro. "I would recommend Epsilon 5, and maybe Epsilon 4, too. They're not as skilled as 5, but it's still more backup."

"That's what I thought," said Titus. "Plus, we'll need some Monitors and Sweepers to engage Moorington's fighters, and HT-688 Payloaders to bomb any naval vessels. Get a few anti-SAM planes to tag along, too."

"Got that," answered Tiro, and the clacking sound of typing floated over the line. "Also, sir, I would recommend about 30 APMs to blast off from the airbase in Ladinah; you know, sir, just in case a few slip past us. It also might be effective against the Reich's Ravens."

"Good idea, Tiro. Put out the order for 30 APMs to patrol the waters 50 miles south of Secruteus, and another 50 to circle around near the north fleet and landing forces. Keep 'em at about 75,000 feet."

"Right. I'll call you if anything else is needed." Tiro hung up.

Hencaeus watched the satellite imagery on a LCD screen in his battle post in Narien. Each landing craft had a microchip tracker attached to it's engine, so if it was no longer operational, the signal would be cut off, and he would know where it went down.
The hundreds of landing craft steadily made their way to the beaches. Satellites noticed troop movements on the entire north side of the island. Hencaeus knew that the tanks needed to get ashore first to gain a huge advantage, then get the infantry in to finish the guards off. Mortars from specific landing craft that were stationary attempted to soften up the resistance on the beaches, machine guns and cannons from small ASF vessels opened fire, and magnetically-guided missiles from frigates and cruisers were systematically attempting to make ruins out of Tocrowkian coastal defenses. The tanks were already in the process of preparation for firey battle. All of this was to gain a landing area for a supply line onshore to help troops already inland.

The 12 ISF-2s of Hawk sqaudron broke off from the bombers, moving in from the rear of the enemy. They released a wave of QMAAMs, which screamed in directly on top of the enemy. As Hawk attacked from above, Mobieus and Corinth prepared for a dogfight. Releasing 48 QMAAMs, they began pelting the enemy with their 'Divine Thunder' cannons, spitting out 32mm shells at over 4,000 feet per second. The bombers pressed on, flying towards the invasion beachs. They each held 4 Steel Rain Mk. II motherbombs, each capable of releasing 100 IR-guided munitions.

**Air Battle**

While a few Raven's fell in the exchange, still more survived by dodging or by using decoys. They sped around and after their opponents, unleashing an array of heat-seeking missiles at the enemy Fighters. However, unlike most heat-seekers, these would track only the largest and most intense sources of heat, almost negating an effect a decoy would have. They also pelted their enemy with powerful 40 mm cannons, which were designed to pierce through armor. It was shaping up to be a bloody battle...

**Landings**

A Panzer division was immediatly called up to support the infantry divisions on the beach. The Panzer division contained powerful King Chetah Mk III and King Panther ZsT MBT's, which were the very latest in cutting edge technology. As it would be fool hardy for the tanks to charge over the defenses and onto the beaches, they waited for their enemy to come them, whilst a squadron of air craft guarded them.

*Naval Battle*

The 4th Fleet now had orders to move in and destroy the Allied and Comatican fleets. Currently, all surface ships were traveling full-speed whilst the Submarines remained silent under the waves, waiting for their ideal time to strike.

50 Venator-Class Battleships

Unfortunately for the enemy, the shielded engines of the Xeons made the multi-stage flares that the Velkyans use look like the sun in comparison, as IR-guided missiles simply chased firecrackers, exploding in great balls of flame as the Xeons flew on. Given the fact that a aircraft mounted 40mm cannon has a slow firing rate (or otherwise shake the aircraft to pieces) , the fighters evaded the enemy guns quite easily, returning fire with their own cannons as they retreated. Roaring away from the battle, they turned, releasing another wave of QMAAMs at the enemy fighters. Gaining distance, they released a barrage of missiles, this time of ALRAAMs, striking from beyond visual range.

As the Xeons flew circles around the hopelessly outclassed Reich fighters, the ten Velkyan bombers began to scan target areas for their motherbombs. Each bomb would release munitions in a predetermined area, dispersing the IR munitions evenly among the IR contacts there. 40 different target zones directly behind the Comatic invasion beach, each filled with Reich artillery and tanks, were selected, as the massive bomb bays of the Liberator IIs opened. The bombs released, falling thousands of feet through the air. Their bowels opened, exposing 4,000 IR sub-munitions, which proceeded to launch from the bombs. Thousands of tiny smoke trails zipped through the air, screeching towards the Tocrowkian positions, as the first combat use of Steel Rain Mk. II since the First Kraven War.

As the air strike occurred, a second wave of bombers prepared to launch, this time carrying an anti-shipping payload. 50 heavy bombers, each carrying 200 missiles, launched, as 6 squadrons of escorts struggled to catch up with the supersonic bombers as they rose to their operational altitude of 80,000 feet. Even so, a third wave, armed with larger weapons, including some anti-SD weapons, prepared to launch as well.

Payloader Bombers were designed to find and destroy ground forces, such as artillery and tanks. Their orders were to find the panzers, which were easily detected by Comatic satellites, and shroud them with bombs 2,500 pounds in weight. Also, about a dozen bombers were equipped with Quakers, enormous bombs packed with 16,000 pounds of explosives, enough to trigger an earthquake large enough to register on the richter scale. However, several of these were reserved for aircraft hangers that the Reich undoubtedly usurped at the airbase in central Secruteus.

A squadron of Blackrods coasted slightly ahead of the bombers, out above the glassy Barrow Sea. The ships below were on Surface Attack Red, the highest alertness that the fleet could be on. Several scouts were ordered to patrol the coastline and alert the Navy ahead of time if any bombers or ships were heading their way.

The Ravens began their trade mark routine, and attacked the Blackrod escorts. Dozens of missiles streaked through the still, dawn air, and caught a few pilots by surprise. Five Blackrods inclined downward, black smoke billowing from their wings. The rest struggled against the missiles for a moment, then let out their own AaSmA's.

Fragment bombs that broke apart in midair were dumped mercilessly onto panzer divisions protecting the beach by the 40 bombers. Oaunum Beach was the key to the invasion plan, so the destroyers blasting the defenses and the Payloaders assigned to the panzers were told to open up the beach at any cost.

Satellites found the Tocrowkian fleet instantly. They were apparently coming in from both flanks, east and west, so the Comatic fleet was ordered to tighten the noose, and close in on the Reich's ships. The Comatic navy would not be overcome in one fell swoop.

APMs were firing at Ravens left and right. Massive amounts of missiles and rockets were blasted out from each patrol, attempting to take out every enemy craft that came within 10 miles of it.

As the two Tocrowkian fleets attempted to flank the Allied one, it was the Airyana and Swift Deliverance, the two Super-Dreadnoughts that fired the first shots with their MAC Turrets. As any shell launched from a MAC would be traveling at 40% the speed of light, they would be almost impossible to dodge. And the targets? They were the most valuable part of the Allied fleet. Troop transports and Aircraft Carriers. As the fleet continued on, more and more MAC shells were launched at these targets.

Dawn had come. 20,000 troops, and about 600 tanks had landed onshore overnight on Ouanum Beach and had stormed defenses a quarter of a mile inland. Another 30,000 troops were slated to hit shore in a matter of minutes, and aid the already onshore troops.

Just above the beach was a thin belt of trees, then a large cattle-grazing field. This was the trademark of Secruetus: open fields and farmland. In the dim morning light, Sergeant Nuio spotted troops streaking across the fields wearing unfamiliar uniforms. They were the soldiers of the Reich.

"Captain!" he shouted to his squad leader, who was loading his automatic rifle. "Captain! The enemy's gotten closer! They're probably reinforcements!"

Captain Quaesno jolted upright and fumbled for his nightvision scope. He peered through it at the field. "It's them, all right'" he whispered. "Men! Get on alert and follow me!"

He crouched low, and emerged from the belt of trees, his soldiers behind him. Dozens of Tocrowkians were tearing across now, and somewhere behind him, a mounted machine gun began spraying rounds at the Reich's soldiers. The enemy troops immediately grabbed cover and returned fire.

Nuio vaguely heard Captain Quaesno shouting commands. "Corporal! You and what's left of your squad circle around and take them from behind. Lieutenant! Follow that corporal with your platoon! Major Desa! I want you and your two platoons to head around and try to take their frontside. I'll send the rest of your unit as soon as we get our act together."

The end of Nuio's gun blazed. He could barely distinguish the Reich's troops in the dim lighting, but he kept firing. A few panzers began unleashing rounds on the Comatics, but so did the several dozen T-ACFTs. Their 88-mm cannons launched shell after shell at the panzers, and a fierce firefight broke out.

-------

Two aircraft carriers were struck with the shells. One had been hit where aircraft fuel was held, and burst into bright flames.

SSMs were launched with vigor from the destroyers and battleships. The nuclear subs silently patroling around the fleet unleashed several dozen torpedoes, and Blackrod bombers dropped dozens more into the sea, where they powered up and headed straight towards the Tocrowkian ships. Comatic torpedoes are unique in the fact that they travel at a depth of 85 feet, where they cannot be easily attacked from the surface or the air, and curve up at the last second to strike enemy ships. Also, ASF gunboats set out about 350 mines in the waters west of the fleet, in patches that would set off a chain reaction, destroying 7 mines at once. Also, rapidfire missile systems aboard a number of gunplanes 45,000 feet above the fleet were commissioned. When these kinds of missiles strike a ship, they "bloom" outward, much like fireworks do, only they're capable of naval destruction.

Rang through out the Tocrowkian lines as the battle began. The pitch-black uniforms of the Tocrowkian soldiers were easily distinguishable from the Comatican's, so they didn't have to worry about most cases of friendly fire. Dozens of Tocrowkian soldiers were violently mowed down by the Comatican machine guns, many of them thrown back through the air, followed by a crimson mist.

Many soldiers threw smoke grenades to mask their advancements around the Comatican line. The plan was to flank them and over run the postion, standard Military tactics. The tank battle was beginning to get incredibly violent as well. It wasn't a matter of who's tank was better then who's anymore, it was a matter of who shot first. Dozens of tanks exploded in flames around the infantry, filling the air with the smell of burnt flesh.

~Naval~

Several frigates exploded in a brilliant flash of light, how ever, most of the heavier ships were mildly damaged. The Super-Dreadnoughts Airyana and Swift Deliverance continued firing MAC shells at the Troop Transports and Carriers, while the Destroyers and Battle ships shelled the Frigates and enemy Battleships.

The remaining Tocrowkian frigates fired Death-Charges into the water to counter the Comatican Submarines, while a small wolf-pack of Tocrowkian subs approached the battle scene. They located and fired dozens of Torpedo's at the enemy Submarines, and that, combined with the hundreds of Death-Charges being thrown into the ocean, would make dodging a difficult ordeal for the Comaticans.

The sour sound of Caprian Quaesno cursing met Sergeant Nuio's ears. White smoke clouded Comatic positions, and the deafening boom of the tank battle grew in intensity.

A storm of gunfire blew up over the Comatic flanks. Dozens of Tocrowkians flooded their position, shooting wildly at unprepared men. The Comatic soldiers scrambled for cover behind destroyed tanks and fallen trees; those who didn't were torn asunder by a cloud of bullets.

Nuio was huddled behind the wreckage of a blown-out T-ACFT. Sparks danced wildly as bullets clanked, repetatively, against the tank armor on the other side. The air around him was shrouded with dustly white smoke, from the grenades and tank shells, and tiny droplets of blood scattered by the Reich's soldiers' rounds.

Just as he popped up to put fire on the advancing Tocrowkians, Captain Quaesno sprinted out from behind an oak tree and headed for the cover of the tank, bullets striking the ground around his feet as he ran.

"What's the situation, Captain?" shouted Nuio as he arrived. Quaesno panted for a moment, then spoke. "The 202nd Airborne is getting it's shit together, and they'll come in and help us, assuming they're not attacked with anything too heavy. Plus, we got the other 30,000 troops coming ashore in a minute or two; they can help us out too."

"Right, Captain. But until then, we gotta figure out how to save our own asses. It's a good thing we got our ACFTs here. Otherwise, I wouldn't be talking to you right now."

"Damn straight," came Quaesno's reply.

A tall, lanky corporal came sprinting out of the smoke, his arms around his face. He dove behind the tank and breathed a sigh of relief. "I got the report for you, Captain," he said, apparently exhausted. "We had 160 tanks and 8,000 troops in this particular area, then we were attacked by the Tocrowkian reinforcements. Fieldmarshall Presantus estimates that we've lost 45 tanks and 400 infantry. We're just getting the mortars and flak 25 mm's ready, though. That just might hold them until we get some help."

Quaesno nodded, and said "Thank you, corporal. In the meantime, stay here and fire on the Reich's positions. We need everyone we can get."

Nuio provided a magazine's-worth of fire on the Tocrowkian troops, and tossed a couple of grenades. Clumps of dirt showered him, the captain, and the corporal. An enemy grenade landed right beside him, but he had enough time to seize it and throw it back into Tocrowkian lines.

-------------

Four Comatic subs were shattered by the enemy torpedoes. The ones not hit retreated low into the depths of the sea and streaked back to the fleet. The few that remained were violently tossed from side to side by undersea explosions, and ultimately succumbed to the pressure of the water.

The shells continued to pound the carriers. Black smoke rose ominously from the decks.

The 40 gunplanes high in the air did not halt their assault on the Tocrowkian fleet. They were now concentrated on the Super-Dreadnoughts at the center of the naval force, and attempted at taking out as many of their escorts as possible. Also, artillery ships in the Comatic fleet sent out about 150 SFT heavy missiles, which are designed to fly out, at 60,000 feet, directly above their target, where the guiding system is turned off, and plummets to Earth at breakneck speeds. They drill into the target on impact and detonate inside.

Destroyers and Battleships returned shellfire, creating a harrowing storm of falling ordnance. Blackrods pelted enemy cruisers and destroyers with "blooming" bombs, hoping to ease the burden on the Comatic surface force.

OOC MAC shells are basically normal shells that use an electromagnet to propel them forward. There is no advantage to their use, so act as you would a normal shell. How Toc managed to place these on his ship while generating the massve amounts of power for this while maintaining relative accuracy is beyond me, however, seeing as MAC guns are usually employed as ortillery.

Also, Toc, respond to that massive strike I just made on your tank forces using the Steel Rain Mk. IIs.

~Velkayan Bombings~

The Panzers and Artillery pieces were decimated. The Ravens had clearly failed to protect the Artillery, and the pilots would surely be punished. Why the used their 40mm's instead of the 20mm Vulcan cannons was beyond AIRCOM. Though it didn't really matter anymore, as more divisions could be brought up to replace the destroyed or crippled ones.

~Ground Battle~

The battle was becoming bloodier by the second. The gunfire was mixed with the screams of dying and wounded Tocrowkian Comatican soldiers. The ground was quickly becoming filled with the bodies of black-clad Reich soldiers with a pool of blood under them, staining the green grass.

The Tocrowkians continued their flanking tactic, trying to destroy the Comatican line. They flanking unit hoped the smoke grenades would mask their swift advance, and that the covering fire of the tanks and infantry would distract them.

~Naval Battle~

While six more Frigates exploded, as well as two Destroyers and one Battleship, the Super-Dreadnoughts remained. Venator class Super-Dreadnoughts, which Airyana and Swift Deliverance were, happened to be protected by several, thick layers of Titanium-Steel Alloy hybrid armor. So the Missiles, while they did drill in slightly and cause some damage, actually had little effect on the powerful Venator class Super Dreadnoughts.

In retaliation for the destruction of the Escorts, two each of the Super-Dreadnought's turrets took aim at a Comatican escort, fired two salvos, and moved to another. This went on until Airyana and Swift Deliverance targeted ten escorts each, took aim, and fired.

bump for comatica.
oh, and i just read back a bit. shells doing .4 lights in the atmosphere? what the hell are they made of that they dont melt about 300m from whatever launched them???
oh, and radar still sees them coming, so CIWS and SRBC could have a go at them...
btw, bue to melting on the outside of them, they'll cause extra damage around the area of impact, as long as they arent just molten metal by now... oh, and set fire to any flammable stuff near them. and also, just to add damage, they'd sonic boom anything in their flight path.

all in all, not a good plan...

Black smoke casted the Comatic fleet into shadow as they formed ominous opaque clouds. Bombing raid after bombing raid was launched on the Reich fleet. This destroyed a fair amount of Comatic bombers in the process, but the situation called for these measures. Such tactics had been successful in the war against the Black & Grey Imperium, and were now employed in the Tocrowkian War. Also, Comatic subs fired about a dozen 735 mm cruise torpedoes. They glided along under the sea, at about 150 feet below sea level, each computer coordinated to hit the Reich's vessels low. Each torpedo was equipped with 12 smaller, 355 mm rocket torpedo, which fired in rapid intervals about 1/2 a mile from the target, aiming at propellors, subs, and high concentrations of heat, such as engine rooms. After all of the smaller torpedoes had been deployed, the initial cruise torpedo would take action, rise to 45 feet, and strike with massive force. Comatica was very proud of it's Cruise Torpedoes.

*******

25 mm flak cannons now added to the bursting gunfire, creating a formidable enemy for the Reich's forces. About a half a dozen mortars were now commissioned, blasting craters in the grazing field and sending a small mushroom cloud into the air on impact. The artillery mostly targeted tanks, giving the ACFT's some relief.

Several thousand Coimatic soldiers from the second wave on Ouanum Beach advanced on the Reich's own flanks as they continued their assault on Comatic lines. With them came more tanks, machine gun turret vehicles, and artillery assault vehicles.

~Naval Battle~

Several Destroyers, Submarines and Cruisers exploded from the Comatican torpedoes, and several other ships were damaged. Still, the Tocrowkian fleet fired back, still aiming mostly at the aircraft carriers and troop transports. Missile destroyers and the SD's launched a salvo of dozens of cruise missiles at their targets, hoping to finally strike a defeating blow to the Comatican carriers and transports.

Meanwhile, squadron after squadron of heavy bombers from Reich-occupied areas Secruteus arrived, and began to drop hundreds of dumb-bombs on Comatican vessels, hoping to sink as many as possible.

Also, deep beneath the sea, the Reich's submarines were preparing to strike another blow. They fired salvo after salvo of torpedoes, aimed at the bottoms of battleships and destroyers, hoping to sink as many as possible before they disappeared again.

~Land Battle~

Dozens of attack-helicopters came up to reinforce the Tocrowkian division, which was becoming increasingly battered. They hovered just over their own lines, and fired dozens of napalm-filled missiles, hoping to spread the Comatican's thin.

Meanwhile, dozens of light-attack vehicles, humvees, rolled in and began to charge toward the Comatican lines, gunners firing heavy machine guns to mow down anything in their path.

((OOC: Hey, Comatica, is there a town or something nearby we can name the land battle after? It seems a bit dull just calling it the land battle.))

Many ships were damaged now. Massive flames were an increasingly common sight among the disabled ships, offering vast contrast to the thick smoke hovering in the air. The cruise missiles destroyed a large number of escorts, but just as many missiles were stopped in their tracks. The Comatic bombers continued their vicious assault, despite the many disabled carriers. If anything, this increased the pilot's lust to kill as many Tocrowkians as possible.

OOC: Sorry for the short post. In answer to your question, Toc, a nearby town would be Remelius, with a population of 1,000. It's just a small country village.

A question, though...is there any racial or ethnic slur referring to your nation's citizens? No offense meant. I just thought it might add some flavor to the dialogue in my RPs. >_>

Airspace over landing beaches,

The Velkyan bombers, victorious, turned, pushing their engines to the maximum thrust. Shooting through the thin air of their high altitude, they picked up the pace, screaming past the raging air battle going on between the Ravens and the Velkyan fighters, headed for home. As the fighters continued to fight off the Reich fighter, releasing more short-range, high manueveribilty missiles into the enemy, the second and third bomber strike forces moved overhead, preparing to strike at the capital ships of the enemy fleet currently engaging the NSAA naval assets.

"All aircraft, prepare to release ASM-35 munitions, restrict targets to super dreadnoughts and battleship sized ships, over."

The sqaudron leaders soon received word from all their respective subordinates, as the fighter escorts, four more squadrons of ISF-4s and two sqaudrons of ISF-2Bs, cruised below and above the main bomber sqaudrons, guided by the all-seeing eyes of the AWACs.

~Battle of Remelius~

In an attempt to finally end the bloody battle, the Reich ordered a three-pronged attack on the Comatican forces. 5,000 would attack from each flank while a force of 15,000 Soldiers, supported by tanks, light attack vehicles, and attack helicopters would perform a full-frontal assault. This was an all-or-nothing move by the Reich's armies, and if it failed, her position on the island would be weakened immeasurably

~Naval Battle~

The Tocrowkian vessels began to light up the sky with AA fire, missiles and flak shells. The Tocrowkians began to increase the tempo of their salvos, now targeting anything that floated, wanting to get this over with as quick as possible.

OOC: Alright. Thanks.

IC: The Tocrowkian forces suddenly became silent, save for sporadic gunfire. Sergeant Nuio shivered due to the ominous quiet.

About half a mile across the grazing field, Nuio spotted a flash of dark color. Then it became utterly clear. In the bright morning sunlight, hundreds, maybe even thousands, of Reich troops were swarming ahead. many more, accompanied by the humming of engines, were setting up near the flanks. Nuio felt a shot of adrenaline fire through his body.

"Captain, the Tocs are mounting an assault!" he shouted to Captain Cesur, who was directing platoons to patrols.

*******

There were 33,000 Comatic troops on the beach. They were all called to defend against the Reich's counter-attack. A line of machine gun vehicles and flak guns was set up on the flanks, with artillery and more flak guns in the front.

The buzz of rotar blades swept across the field. "Fuck!" Shouted Cesur. "They've got choppers. Where in hell is our air support?"

"The only choppers we have landed about 6 miles east of here," replied a corporal next to him. "I'll call them to here."

The first platoons began to attack the Reich's emassing forces. Mortars and ACF tanks viciously embattled the Tocrowkian forces, shrouding their lines with thick black smoke.

"Alright. Nuio! Take command of platoon C44. I'll send H74, W12, and F90 along with you. You're gonna skirt the attacking Toc forces, and take Remelius, which is held by several Toc platoons. That'll open us up to an assault on the backside on the Reich's east flank. Take 5 ACF tanks, 2 HB tanks, and 6 machine gun-mounted hummers. Make sure you're not detected until you're in the town. There might be some Telex choppers coming a little while after you breach the defenses in the town. Get moving."

Sergeant Nuio, followed by his own platoon of 48 men, along with 3 others. All in all, his force totaled to 215, with the tanks and hummers following along the flanks and tail. The kicked up a dust cloud as they traveled along the Comatic held beaches, which turned into a grassy, sandy-soiled field near the east end of Ouanum beach. To their right was the island. They were guarded by a slope about 35 feet high. To their left, was the Barrow Sea, sparkling brilliantly in the morning sunlight. Far offshore, evidence of a sea battle could be seen. The 200 men were moving along a strip of land about 40 feet wide, with tall, sea-like grass growing in the grainy, sand-like dirt. They would walk this ay for another half mile. Then they would turn south towards Remelius, 2 miles inland.
