Palace of the Radient Lotus, Bodhi City, Lhasai

The Bodhisattva lay pale and drawn on the bed of his simple room. Outside, through the window, he could see young monks meditating in the palace courtyard, while to their left an older man tended a beautiful garden. It was a peaceful, friendly place, and not as austere as one would expect the religious center of a nation to be. Indeed, it was a joyous place despite the fact that its residents spent many of their days in quiet reflection. Often, however, following the buddhist precept of helping others, they would exit the palace alone or in groups to improve their community.
As a being slated to one day be a buddha, the bodhisattva was a revered figure in the Buddhist nation. Everything he said was treated with great care and respect. So, near the begining of his life, when he commanded Lhasai to shut its doors to the outside world, it had done just that. That had been 48 years ago, and much had changed since then.
He had ordered the end to contact becuase he knew, as many others did, that allowing in the world all at once would wreck their beautiful land. Instead, he decided, Lhasai would close itself off for a period to prepare itself. A new generation had to be taught how to care for the earth, to work for peace, to mediate the wars and cleanse the pollution swirling around them. Now, as he was minutes from death, he knew it to be true: Lhasai's people were ready to once again take up the mantle of caretakers of the earth.
He whispered for a piece of parchment, and in flowing characters wrote the edict endng the isolation. An end at the begining. A closed circle. As he slipped into a new spoke on the endless wheel of death and rebirth, he was coforted in knowing everything was for the best.
In airports and docks across Lhasai, the first voyagers and emmisiaries rode out to greet different dawns, different sunsets, different nations.

DIPLOMATIC MESSAGE FROM LHASAI

The nation of Lhasai, emerging from decades of isolation, is requesting embassy exchanges and trade contacts with the outside world. we have a bountiful land, ecologically pristine, rich in many natural resources such as stone, metals, crops etc. we are willing to trade. We need help in building new infrastructure like trains, airports, roads, bridges, etc., and are heavily interested in investing in clean energy sources and fuels.
