The nation of Manyan is primarily ruled by the Emperor of Manyan but has an Imperial secretary to act as a PM to oversee the nation (primarily providing less work for the Emperor). It has been 10 years since the last Manyan election for Imperial secretary and the members of the Imperial council have called for the current secretary Sir James Linden to call a general election. There are 5 contenders including Sir James Linden who is restanding for the thrid time. We need other nations to vote on who they believe sounds like a good candidate for the role of Imperial Secretary. The two contenders with the first and second highest amount of votes will go through to a 2nd ballot of votes by you and the winner will then be considered and voted on on by our council. If they vote against the candidate then the 2nd place man will take his place. Here are the candidates:
1st Sir James Linden , OBE, MBE, NBE, DSO, DHM, AAR, RHMS- This man has alot of experience in running a nation after being the Imperial secretary to the former nation of Manya and Hallal. He has good negotiating skills and is a quite neutral character in his political beliefs but does have a tendancy to move slightly towards the right and take a slightly liberal stance. He promises to keep the continued good reputation and good results in Manyan. He is 42 years old and was first elected Imperial sercretary when he was 24 years old after showing a real talent in the Hallal armed forces. He moved from Lieutenant-Colonel in the Manyan 5th Cavaliers to politics and became a high flyer on the Imperial council. He studied History and Politics at university and gained good grades. He is a man of true experience and a favourite in the election contest.
2nd Sir Thomas Forth MP, OBE, MBE, NBE, DSO, RHMTCS - Forth is the current secretary of Trade and Commerce and has decided to stand as the Imperial secretary as he blieves that Linden has served his time and Forth is what is neede for Manyan. Forth promises to bring in a policy of commercial reform with extreme increased trading in arms and raw metrials which will increase the Manyan economy. Forth comes from a priveidged background and his farther Lord William Forth ,who was once the Imperial secretary of Hallal, has had a very national socialist affect on him and a result of this has meant that Forth takes on a very old, liberal stance. He is 54 years old and some believe that this is his weakness as although he has the experience, he may not be bale to take on the strain of Imperial Chancellor after suffering from a stroke wehn he was 52. He is still a very realistic politican with, as many believe, alot to offer for Manyan.
3rd Lady Margret Halinger MP, OBE, MSA, GDR, RHICM Halinger is a member of the Imperial council and deals with alot of the administrative works of Manyan. She has a detailed undertstanding of how the Manyan political system works and has worked for many other bodies in Mnayan government but is a very recently elected member of the Imperial council, primarily for her
good works with administration as well as helping in obtaining some major trade deals and helping in settling many disputes between other nations in terms of helping in the writing of treaties etc. She, however, is not a favourite of the Emperor and it was not his choice for her to be on the Imperial council but rather Sir James Linden's. This is due to her taking a very left view and a quite socialist stance and there has been some worry that she would influence Manyan in this way. She is 47 and has always worked in politics. She has many good skills like diplomacy and is very practical but she is not seen, by many, as the next Imperial secretary but rather as a good backbench member of the Imperial Council.
4th Lord high Chancellor and Imperial Governer, Majesty Richard Smeddish - Smeddish has reached the position of the Emperor's right hand man and is very powerfull but wants to gain the position of Imperila secretary so as he can allow the Emperor to keep a tighter grip on Manyan. The rules of election in Manyan have been changed by the Emperor here to allow Smeddish to put himself up for election. Smeddish is a hard man and was an Imperial Guardsman for 19 years and has been in many fields of conflict as well as once being part of the Imperial airforce, becoming a very highly commended pilot. He worked his way up through politics after leaving the services and was spotted early on by the Emperor and is now hhis right hand man, having a good amount of influence over the armed forces. He is a real right winger and has been accused of holding some extreme nationalist views like cleansing Manyan of all Sluphites, although this is supported by many in Manyan. He is a man of much experience and holds to turn Manyan into a complete powerhouse with the support of the Imperial council and the undivined support of the Emperor. He is 57 and is the oldest candidate but has alot of experience.
5th High Counceller Slalesh Fegander HCRM - Fegander is an extremely fast moving Imperial council backbencher who is rising in popularity due to his youth and extreme talent in diplomacy and his quick understanding of Politics. He shows a keen interest in the workings of democracy rather than the Imperial Forythe style of rule in Manyan and many feel that change in Manyan is needed. However this view is kewpt low due to the Emperor having strict views on democracy. He has worked in the Judiciery of the Imperila council for 3 years and worked for Field Marshall Sir Thomas Hart, Imperial defence secretary, as a strategist and showed extreme talent in this area. He is seen as a rising star and exactly what Manyan needs as it has been very opposed to extreme change. At only 31 he is seen as a breath of fresh air in Manyan but also possibly too inexperienced and maybe a bit too much of a gamble.
