OTTOMAN ALLIANCE WARGAMES

Background Story/Scenario:

[Mostly provided by Malkyer]

Happystania, a peaceful and politically neutral country, has recently been invaded by its larger and more aggressive neighbor Evilstopia. Evilstopiaa's troops quickly overran the Happystanian Defense Force (HDF), and the conquered nation was thoroughly subjected. However, a resistance movement, lead by some elements of the former HDF, has formed in the wilderness and has called to the outside world for help.

An international coalition of nations (ATFOR) has responded to the calls from help from the Happystanian Liberation Front, and is gathering forces to invade the country and push back the Evilstopian occupiers (OPFOR).

A conventional war is expected, and it is likely that ATFOR will attempt to use special forces to make contact with the HLF and subvert the enemy's ability to make war from behind the lines.

Factions:

OPFOR-
Commonwealth of Hirgizstan (COH)
*pending notice of entrance*
The Islamic Federated States of Ottoman Khaif

ATFOR-
The United States of Independent Hitmen
The Imperial Commonwealth of Malkyer
The Pure Socialist Holy Empire of Shazbotdom

(Above lists still to be updated- Ottoman Khaif and Shazbotdom still have to sign up, one on each force to make things even, if possible).

Host Nation:
Commonwealth of Hirgizstan

The Wargames, in their entirety, will be held in the Colony of Legionnaires.
Legionnaires is a country of stunning natural beauty and a climate fit for tourists seeking sun and sand.
The wargames will be held 400 miles directly south of the second largest city, Worthington, in the Southern Desert. The military own 40% of the land in this area, and it is dominated by a number of military installations. The desert area is rugged and unforgiving, a perfect place for mass infantry and armor assaults. The desert area gives way to lush greenery roughly 75 Miles from the Coast, providing a varied terrain of deep woodland, lakes and ranges.
The coast is around 50 Miles long in this area and provides for three large beaches, 2 Naval Stations, a Naval Air Station and one civilian port.

OPFOR, will be housed in a new military base in the desert built recently to house elements of the recently formed (and still being formed) 2nd Colonial Ground Self Defense Force. The base is capable of housing up to 1.5 Million soldiers, 50,000 MBT's, 75,000 AFV's/IFV's, 250,000 Trucks and Small Infantry Vehicles, 10,000 LBT's, 30,000 Helicopters and can support up to 5000 Aircraft at any one time.

ATFOR, will have usage of the two Naval Stations, capable of housing up to 10 Improved Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers, up to 150 Cruisers,Destroyers and Frigates of varying sizes, 6 Battleships and up to 20 Arsenal ships, per base.
ATFOR, will also have usage of the Naval Air Station nearby, capable of supplying up to 1000 Fighter and Attack Aircraft, 1000 Heavy Bomber's and up to 3000 Support Aircraft of varying sizes.

OOC: Ok.

OOC:
Alright. I have decided to join the ATFOR. Should I use my Active Troops or my reserves? I was thinking for reserves because they normally don't see much action and only train every so often.
Hirgizstan
23-11-2005, 20:47
OOC: You can use any forces you want. Keep in mind that most of us will probably use Normal forces, not Reserves. I would say you should use a combination of your reserves and full-time forces.

Lists have been updated. OK and Shaz have been added to the forces lists.

When should we begin and with what scenario?
Independent Hitmen

OOC:I think that we should perhaps begin with a Special Forces scenario to get it all going. I also think that we should probably wait another day or so to let our American Friends get over their thanksgiving holiday!

OOC: I made edits to my post for troop numbers. See if those numbers work. I majorly cut down my naval fleet so i only have a few ships and those are already deployed about and the only other Navy i have is a space navy. They are not really FT. They are more like MT boarderline PMT. Although it's up to you guys if i can use them, the information about them in HERE (http://thenetwork.95mb.com/Shazbotdom/navalspaceforce.htm) but the final call about them is up to you guys.

Shaz, as long as they can be killed by missiles and bullets (assuming this was a real war) I don't think we have a problem.

I can tweak the stats to make them not space ships for this RP. And bullets might not hurt them as much as missiles due to the polarized hull but yeah missiles will work.

Shaz, as long as they keep within the atmosphere, and act like conventional planes then i don't see a problem.

Of course I will keep them in the atmosphere.

I am though working on new fighter craft though, i will probably wait till after this Wargames to debut them in NS. I'm basing them off of the StarFury's from Babylon 5 just not with the FT weaponry. They will have a more of a railgun type system just simplified and the ammo will not go that fast. Most likely minimal damage stuff except on aircraft. They will though retain the ability to minouver as well as the starfury's from B5, which is intricate to the design.

Erm, rougly how many troops is everyone bringing so I get an idea of how many will be needed.

Everyone is limited to the following (Got this from the OA Wargames Thread on the OA Forums):
200,000 soldiers per nation
25,000 Tanks per nation
1000-1500 Aircraft per nation
up to three Fleets.

Ok, i have the map done. But it won't let me upload it here or anywhere else. So i am going to send it, via email to Ottoman Khaif and Celtayoshi, and they can send it to everyone else who needs it. Once everyone has it and Celt and OK get their forces posted up we can, finally, begin!

The SF scenario will begin in the Woodlands area, centered on OPFOR trying to eliminate remaining rebel forces and repel SF attacks by ATFOR. We can then have an SF Scenario somewhere else on the map if you wish.

Ok, so now everyone has acess to the map, we can then begin whenever Celtayoshi can get his forces posted.

Also, I would suggest that everyone copies the Forces lists into a Word document to save it on your PC, so that you can have easy acess to it when writing.

OOC: I guess we can start today or tomorrow. The SF Scenario is first.

In this element OPFOR is trying to kill the HDF Forces in the woodlands east of Lake Worth. They are also trying to repell recon and SF forces from ATFOR and set up positions to spy on ATFOR troop movements once the scenario's begin proper, if OPFOR wins it means we will have more intelligence etc.

Essentially it will end whenever ATFOR pushes OPFOR out of the area or OPFOR eliminates the HDF rebels and manages to keep ATFOR forces at bay.
We'll see how it goes at first before we slap a time limit on it.

You can begin at any time. I will wait maybe for this non-OA guy to post introducing the HDF elements and saying what equipment they have etc, or something like that.

All forces are welcome to send Diplomatic and Military Staff to a monitoring facility in Worthington.

OOC: Time to get the party kicked off methinks.

IHS Independence,
Thirty Miles East of ATFOR Naval Base 1

The darkness had finally settled over the blacked out deck of the huge carrier and it was now a hive of activity. Men in various different coloured overalls busily ran around performing their own specific tasks that enabled the ship to operate as efficiently as she did. A flight of F-22S Sea Raptors had just taken off and the deck was relatively clear except for a pair of MH-53 PaveLow Special Forces Helicopters.

The two giant helicopters already had their rotors turning, anti collision lights turned off, and were awaiting their human load for the night. In the lead helicopter the pilot flicked his Night Vision Goggles down over his eyes whilst the co-pilot scanned the various gauges and meters that littered the cockpit. Each showed the normal readings, but from years off experience he knew that that could change at a moments notice. He turned his head as one of the Crew Chiefs tapped his shoulder and he watched as fifteen men of the 3rd Battalion, 91st Special Forces Regiment clambered onboard loaded heavy with weapons and ammo. They awkwardly settled themselves down on the fold out seats and the Captain in charge signalled their readiness to the co-pilot who then spoke into the intercom.

The pilot nodded and moved his right hand forward increasing the power to the engines and pulling up on the control yoke at the same time, hauling the helicopter into the rolling air above the carrier.

Immediately upon getting airbourne he turned the West and dropped the helicopter slightly so that he was barely twenty feet above the waves. The rear cargo door was open and the troops watched the shallow wave tops fly by as the Special Forces helicopter sped on towards its destination, the second chopper not forty feet to the right and behind the lead.

Ten minutes later they went “feet dry” and they continued along their path staying well clear of radar stations that had been picked up by earlier satellite passes. Opposition radar aircraft were up and orbiting, but they would have extreme difficulty picking out these low flying birds so far out. The pilot scanned the ground for any hidden SAM or AAA emplacements with his green vision, his head constantly turning as he eased the helicopter up and down over the few ridges that appeared in his view.

Just under half an hour later the two choppers flared and briefly landed, disgorging their load of troops and equipment before turning and heading back to the homeships their work done for the night.

The thirty men gathered their equipment and began the three miles trek towards the main rebel base. Their chocolate chip BDU’s blended in with the dark desert night as they held their weapons at the ready gathering the equipment boxes for the rebels and moving forward. Two forward scouts went out in front of the main column and led the way out.

Woodland, West OPFOR Naval Base One

The troops from the 86th SOD had been busy now for a few hours being ferried into the woodland. Travelling in squads of 10, as was normal, they moved quietly through the woodland, which provided much shelter. No-one was expecting much reistance at this stage, all the early reports indicated that the enemy would be setting up much closer to their beachead positions to the south. Unfortunately it was known that they had Special Forces in the area also, and so it would only be a matter of time before the advanced elements came into contact with each other.
For this reason the Captain of this squad was taking no chances. Whislt they were marching along they had two scouts who would progress forward until they just left eyesight. These point men would then stop, listen, and signal with one click of a button for the rest of the squad to advance. The button was linked to nifty piece of technology that gave a short throbing into the wrist of each man through his watch. These watches were essential commnication devices for the SODs and could not be allowed to fall into enemy hands, for this reason they kept a constant monitor of the owners heartbeat, and if this were to stop, or the watch be removed, it would lock itself and would only reactivate on correct enterance of a keycode. In addition to the main body, two men where tasked to rear guard duty.
This particular squad was searching for makeshift enemy camps in the forest, and evidence of human activity, they found none today.

The Celtayoshi General, Lord Poldask Fovernov, was in a meeting with his peers in the Hirgizstan and Ottoman Armies. He had called this meeting early into the first scenario to establish which Special Forces would be tasked with what. He opened the floor to suggestions...

Near Lake Worth

The giant CV-22 Aircraft had flown so low over Lake Worth that its rotors had sliced through the odd wave on the surface. A few miles from the woodland the aircraft, a cross between a helicopter and a plane, reared its head up and pulled its rotors above its head before coming to a steady hover above a field with long grass.

Darkness...the aircraft hovered and then dissappeared. If anyone had been looking it at they would have assumed it was a dummy run, designed to fool the enemy. But it wasn't, ten CENTURION armed soldiers had quietly jumped off the back ramp and landed in the field below. Before the aircraft could even change its rotor alignment the soldiers had dissappeared into the field, the crew cheif's couldn't even pick up their heat signatures, the advanced armor being the reason.

The ten men, using their powered exoskeleton's covered the 20 or so miles in a few hours. Once in the dense woodland they sent reports via their DNI's and were uplinked to the OPFOR briefing room for updates.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

OPFOR HQ

General David Samuels and Colonel Timothy Walters had sat listening intently to the Celtayoshi Officer brief the assembled military men on the current situation.

He had opened the floor to suggestions at the end of his talk and General Samuels had touched Colonel Walters on the shoulder. Walters rose, his skinny frame betraying the fact he was one of the best SOF operatives the COH had ever had. He stood next to General Lord Poldask Fovernov on a stage at the front of the large room, TV screens showing various symbols for the three armies behind him.

He was wearing the new DIGIPAT uniform, like MARPAT but with more colours and only issued to SOF. He began, "Today we inserted 10 black ops troops with the new CENTURION Battle Armor you have all been briefed on. They successfully made it into the woodlands south west of OPFOR Installation Four. An Airborne Army Commando force will insert North of the installation tomorrow. I suggest that the AAC make contact with the Celtayoshi forces in the area while the COH black ops make a recce of the eastern areas of the woodland before deciding on further action. I suggest this because yesterday evening a radar station picked up what might have been a helicopter coming in from the sea, this is unconfirmed, but it may mean enemy forces are in the area."

A pair of PaveLow helicopters flew through the dark, bringing their cargo of soldiers toward the desert. Patrols from the fleet had not shown anything, and it was expected that the special forces would arrive unhindered. They knew full well, however, that the moment they touched down everything would change.

As the choppers neared the designated insertion point, the troopers readied their equipment. Aside from their weapons and gear, they carried several crates, mostly of ammunition and supplies, for the rebels. They shuffled awkwardly, trying to avoid knocking anything over.

When the helicopters reached the insertion point, the aircraft flared and were brought near to the ground by their pilots. They stayed in this vunerable position only long enough for the special forces to kick off the crates, and follow themselves. Once everyone was off, the helicopters rose into the air and turned toward the coast and headed for the fleet.

The troopers quickly scattered according to plan, dispersing themselves among rocks and behind other landscape features. Once they were sure they were undetected, their leader, a veteran captain, relegated six men to carrying the crates, while the others dispersed into the surrounding desert.

Two groups of scouts were sent ahead, and another pair of men remained behind to warn the others if they were being followed. A young lieutenant quietly took the point position, and the group began the hike to the rebel encampment. They knew that the enemy would in all likelihood have dispatched soldiers to hunt the rebels, and so were ordered to "terminate" any enemy they found, so long as it could be done without compromising their mission.

Secret IC:
Aboard the MSF Bravery (A Modified Inter-Atmosphere Airship [at least for this RP]), General Andalr and General Sinthi was walking to the briefing room where he would meet with Captain Holford, the Captain of the ship. They had much to discuss if they were to begin the liberation within the next 48 hours. General Sinthi's crew was to be part of the first wave of attacks against the tyranical OPFOR that has taken over the Nation of Happystania.

General Andalr was the first to walk into the room and he nodded his head at Captain Holford. He then walked to the left side of the small briefing room and took his seat. While they were waiting for General Sinthi to arrive, the two men started talking.

Andalr: "So how are the wife and kids? Been home to see them lately?"

Holford: "Not yet. I'm schedualed to go on leave after these wargames are over. Although i doubt that is going to happen as something always comes up, protecting small nations, defending satelites against meteors. You know, the small shit."

Andalr: "Ah, yes. The life of a naval captain."

Both the men laugh. At the same time General Sinthi walks in and nods at both men. As he is walking to his seat he speaks.

Sinthi: "Sorry for being a little late. I had to settle a dispute between a few of the Division leaders as to who will be the first ones in. You know how they can be."

Andalr: "Yes i do. Some of those bastards are in it for glory and not the good of the Empire. It's rather pathetic."

Holford: "Alright then. Now that we got that out of our systems, what is the plan on the preliminary invasion tactics?"

The two generals look at eachother.

Andalr: "Well, i was thinking that General Sinthi would send in one of his divisions in first to secure a spot to land his other divisions."

Sinthi: "And they would also take out any threats in the area at the same time. But we have to remember that these are just war games." He said as he stood up and walked to a computer hooked up to a projector. "Our weapons have been outfitted with laser systems and the triggers have been reworked to only go to these lasers. This is so that no bullets are fired at all from our weapons."

Andalr: "We have also been given specialized equipment to tell who has been killed and all that fancy stuff so we can tally how many people have been killed throughout the course of this. If someone is 'killed' then they are to be brought out of the area to another ship where they will be kept until the end of the war games."

Holford: "Understood. You should discuss this with the rest of your platoons and prepare for battle. I'll notify SMC of our situation and our plan."

The three men then stood up and walked out of the room.

The C-141 Starlifter had lifted off from the OPFOR main base and seemed to climb into the gloom in the pre-dawn for what seemed like an age.

20 men sat silently in the rear cargo hold, checking their equipment and talking to each other over intercom's, to save them shouting over the din of the jet engines. The giant plane finally levelled off at just over 45,000ft, and the men doned black flight helmets and oxygen masks, secured the tanks to their backs.

They all stood up on the red light and shuffled their equipment bags into the center of the aircraft. A couple of men secured the straps of an equipment pallette at the front of the group. Each man checked the man in front and signalled to the Jump Master by giving a thumbs up, his number and an'OK' over the radio.

The green light beamed on and lit the sides of the aircraft as the hydraulic doors opened up. The men were buffetted by the strong winds as they peered out into the bluey-purple gloom. Their night vision within the visors of the flight helmet's lit everything up in a grey glow (10th Gen goggles are issued to COH forces, they show up the picture in grey, not green, as it gives more detail and depth perception). The pallette was rolled out the door and the men watched its chutes deploy before the first man waddled to the giant doors and jumped off into the night, his chute bursting into life once he was clear of the jet wash.

In a few minutes the other 19 Airborne Army Commando's from the 11th SFG were slowly fluttering down to earth in a well practiced HAHO (High Altitude-High Opening) Jump. The C-141 had let them go at the edge of the Souther Desert. For a couple of hours they would float the 45,000 feet down to earth, arriving over the woodland, close to installation one if the jump was timed correctly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Already in the woodland the 10 CENTURION clad soldiers from Strike Force Lightning were busy unpacking equipment they had dragged into the forest with them. Two snipers guarded the other eight men as they unpacked. The sniper rifles the two men held were lumbering beasts of rifles, black and ominous looking covered in the foliage and burlap the two men were also covered in.

The CENTURION Sniper Rifle programme had not been completed yet but the men were using the latest prototype for the Wargames, a 15.7mm calibred Anti-Material/Personnell rifle. Too heavy for a normal soldier to carry of course, but just right for a CENTURION with an exoskeleton. Able to turn light armoured vehicles into swiss cheese in a matter of seconds, it would literally turn a man into minced meat with a single shot.

Down in a difilade position the other 8 men began to get their own specialised weapons ready, holstering the small MP7's they had been carrying perviously. Four men were already holding the M29 AICW, covering the other 2 men as they fiddled with their stranger looking weapons. One man hefted a huge thick barrelled rifle into the firing position and pulled a lever at his side. The triple barrels of the HGEC M-300 50.cal Gatling Cannon spun with a low whirr. He set the rifle down into its sack and hefted the huge ammunition carrier onto his back. Another of the men also carried a spare carrier. He on a tape that brought the link belt smoothly from the bottom of the carrier on his back and strapped it into the gun, which he hefted into his arms.

The last man was already standing. A strange curved, bulletproof backpack was connected by a bulletproof case to a large gun shaped device. It was essentially a long black barrel, with a perforated baffle on one end, sitting out from the large nozzle at the end. The metal encased lead from the backpack led in under a strange trigger housing with a power indicator and fuel status screen. The large device was the HAD M-10 Napalm Powered Flame Thrower. It had been rigged up for the wargames with a laser system taken from a tank. It was assess the spread and damage based on the fuel and length of hold on the trigger, as well as elevation and proximity to the target.

Once sorted the men stashed the carrying equipment in backpacks and set up for the night. In their huds, inside their elaborate helmet system, they were watching an empty briefing room on one screen, ready for Colonel Walters’ briefing. On another screen, on the left side of the display, below the screen showing the briefing room, they watched a helmet mounted camera from an AAC soldier as he was on his HAHO jump. On the right side of the helmet two timer’s showed as the soldiers were being fed intelligence information directly into their brains via the DNI in the suit. The main image of course showed what the soldiers were looking at.

The Special Forces team were near the small Rebel Outpost in the middle of the desert as the dawn broke.

The two pointmen had come back closer to the team and now they crouched in the early morning sun behind a small rise, their XM-8 Assault Rifles held lightly in their hands. They had flicked their Night Vision Goggles up onto their Kevlar helmets which partly obscured one of the laser detectors that the men wore all over their body as part of the war games kit. They all had blanks in their rifles to simulate live fire, and the various grenades they had with them were also primed to make a loud noise and little else.

The Major in command of the 30 man unit halted the troops momentarily and called his radio operator to his position over his neck mounted microphone. The operator arrived a bare ten seconds later and they both took a knee as the Major removed the telephone shaped speaker from the man’s backpack Tactical Satellite Radio. The Major depressed the transmit button and spoke into the mouthpiece.

“Starbase Six, this is Echo Charlie Six. We are in position and are proceeding to Phase Two, Acknowledge Over.”

When he released the transmit button the phrase was burst transmitted to a satellite and then back down to a receiver onboard Coronado, the Marine Command Ship that was acting as the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) for all IH assets for the games.

The Brigadier Commanding 91st Special Forces Regiment responded.

“Roger that Echo-Charlie Six. Proceed as planned, report on the hour.”

Half a second later the Major heard the response and replaced the telephone receiver on the backpack. He allowed his rife to hang loosely on its sling as he gave a radio command to the point men to make the link up, and then a hand signal to his main group to move out. Behind them came two men who were systematically wiping out the groups tracks.

IHS Coronado
Marine Command Ship

From a porthole in the side of the main planning room one of the Officers could see the shape of the battleship Sabre, her huge guns at rest as the knife like bow parted the waves not a thousand yards from the command vessel. Situated in the centre of the formation the vessel was probably more heavily defended than the carriers were, especially as it currently held all of the IH ground commanders that were scheduled to take part in the exercise.

Many of them were currently on deck taking ten minutes off as several planning officers amended the acetate coverings of maps spread out on the large table. The pencilled marks showed the position of the fleet off the coast, awaiting Allied communications.

The communications room was busy sending out signals to their allies in the games that they needed to establish at least a post through which they could communicate.

The Celtayoshi soldiers were all holed up for the night, although it was just to early yet to begin the night watch. As these were the Special Forces the equipment they got given was naturally just that little bit more perfect, and the communications devices were state of the art. The captain had his men silently positioned in close proximity to the camp, keeping watch, whilst he recieved his orders from base via secure comms link in the HUD. The video image was still being perfected, but the sound was crisp and clear. In any case the soldiers of this particular squad, given the code name CeltaAlpha 5 were to rendevous with the Hirgizstan forces at a small clearing 5 miles to the West of their position and 1030 hours. They would then recieve further details about their mission, which was believed to be intelligence gathering as opposed to actual engagement of the enemy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The night passed off peacefully, with nothing to report for the rotating gurad watches. In the morning the soldiers were awakened automatically by the pulsing in their watches, and they each got packed up quickly. Again the first men off were the point men, who took up a crouched position surveying the terrain in front of the troops. The last act of the rear guard was to ensure the campsite had been throughly cleaned of any signs of human presence.
The walk also proved uneventful, and at around 1020 the soldiers advanced to their final position, and then spread out into survey formation. To ensure there would be no friendly fire incidents, command requested to be notified when the troops were outside the meeting point, both squads could then advance in the knowledge that the next human faces they would meet would probably be friendly.

OOC: Hirgy, fancy getting these two squads into position to survey the HDF Base, its probably quite a dander but hey, why not?

The AAC squad of 20 men had landed in a successful treetop jump, not a single man had been hurt. They were after all special forces and had practiced the jumps for years. With a HAHO jump they had the time to work out their landing spots before bursting through the trees.

The two squads had gathered up their equipment quickly and had taken up defensive positions until daybreak. Then the two squads split, 10 heading up toward OPFOR Installation Four, the other 10 heading further into the woodland to join up with CeltaAlpha 5. The squads were signed as Alpha Bravo 1 (AB1) and Charlie Delta 1 (CD1). CD1 was headed deeper into the forest to link up with their allies.

Most of the men carried the M29 AICW. Some, however, carried Para Mk.249 SAW's, M82A1 Barretts, AT-4's and M240G SHMG (Squad Heavy Machine Gun). Each man wore the standard woodland issue DIGITPAT unfirom, and FCSS system, the visor and helment covering their head and eyes, a mic coming from the left ear down toward the mouth. The computers and hard drives were visible in small camouflage bulges behind their patrol packs and their body armor was camouflaged with the uniform.

CD1 stalked silently through the woodland into the late afternoon. Their GPS systems told them at around 1630 that they were half a click from CeltaAlpha 5 and the TL send an ecrypted transmission to the assigned frequency requesting permission for freindlies to enter the perimeter.

In the dim gray light of the pre-dawn desert, the Malkyeri special forces moved slowly up a small hill. The brown rocks and scattered pebbles hid created an environment to which their desert camoflouge was perfectly suited.

Setting up a small transceiver, the team calibrated the equipment until a faint light turned from red to green. With a nod from the captain, the communications specialist keyed a switch, preparing to send a message to the fleet.

Several kilometers away, the electronic signal was recieved by a UAV drone maintaining position a thousand meters above the Royal Navy ships. After a brief turnover of processing, the signal was relayed below, to the armada.

Click. Admiral Thomas Moore nodded to himself when he heard the sound. Theoretically, line-of-sight encrypted communications were completely secure. And while the special forces didn't have a direct line of sight to the Royal Navy, they did have a direct line to another reciever they'd set up, which in turn could easily "see" the hovering UAV. When the UAV recieved the signal, it transmitted it directly to the bridge of the command dreadnaught. Theoretically.

Even so, Moore saw no reason to send extraneous messages while the enemy may be listening.

"Our teams are in place, Admiral," reported a young ensign manning one of the comms stations. Moore nodded.

"Alright then. Use the encrypted channels to inform our allies of our position, and the positions of our special forces."

"Aye-aye, sir."

The Celtayoshi forces now moved into the woodland clearing, when they did so the captain took up a position along with three other men in the centre, whilst the rest took up a guarded position facing outwards. The Hirgizstan troops saw that it was time to move in and did so in a similar fashion, before alomst all the men were called in, just so everyone had a vague idea what their allies looked like.
With 20 men now working together it would be even easier to cover the HDF base, and if necessary or possible, to infiltrate it. In keeping with the mission, it would remove the last of the Happystania forces, although no-one was totally sure of the exact numbers.
The two squads now travelled in very close formation, and progressed as quickly as their training would allow them. One of the huge benefits of working together was the ability of both squads to compare technologies they used.
Having travelled a considerable distance during the latter part of the day the two squads agreed to make camp for the night, however, owing to the large number of people that were present, they would form a small ring of groups of 5, with sentries close to each one.
During the night, however, being much closer to enemy territories, the sentries relied on both night vision and thermal imaging to detect the presence of opposition forces. Fortunately none arrived, but with every passing day it became more likely, especially if a random patrol where to pass their way...

IHS Coronado
Marine Command Ship

The transmission from Malkyer was picked up by one of the powerful satellites in orbit above the region and was promptly fed down to the Fleet via another communications relay satellite.

Once it had been printed off the message form was taken promptly to Admiral James McWalter who was standing proudly on the bridge of the Command Ship. Whilst this was not his flagship, Fearsome served that purpose, the Admiral had spent quite a lot of his time onboard the ship recently mainly spent conferring with General Hawkes about support for his landing forces particularly the over strength 29th Marine Assault Regiment that would be spearheading the landing scenario.

He took the form with good grace and read it quickly.

“Send a return transmission giving them our co-ordinates and inform the Colonel of the position of friendly Special Forces, advise a link up as soon as possible.”

“Aye Aye Sir” accompanied a crisp salute as the man pivoted and headed back in the direction that he had come from.

McWalter meanwhile removed his baseball cap and took a few steps out onto the open air wing of the bridge, running his hand through his short ginger hair he felt the cool air rush over him as the ship was buffeted by the growing seas in the area. The weather people told him it was a brief occurrence, but nonetheless an uncomfortable one for the troops in the landing ships awaiting their part in the games.

The radioman made his way quickly and skilfully forward along the column of elite troops. Sighting the Major who was moving towards him he slowed somewhat and then took a knee when they were within whispering distance.

“Sir. Starbase on the phone.”

“Roger that.” He picked up the receiver. “Go ahead Starbase”

After a minute of conversation he replaced the phone and called his squad leaders on the tactical radio and began spreading out a map. All three arrived quickly and he began giving them a quick briefing.

“New orders Gentlemen. We are to link up with a friendly outfit here” he pointed to a spot on the edge of the desert near to the large forest that was just visible to their left when they stood up. “We gotta hussle, those Malk guys are four klicks closer than we are and we have to be there before sundown tomorrow. Lets move out.”

The point men led off again, moving quickly forward of the column their weapons raised and scanning the clear desert that was now pottmarked with the odd tree of piece of foliage. They were nearing some completely different terrain.

Scene: MSF Bravery
General Sinthi walked back to the drop pod room and looked around at all the SpecOps marines that were gathered outside of their drop pods. Sinthi then paced back and forth down the small cooridoor in the middle of the rows of drop pods. He then walked back near the door and looked out over the groups of Marines. With one swift motion of his hand, the marines jumped to attention and saluted at him, he saluted back.

"Fellow Shazbotdom Marines. Today we embark on a great crusade, one in which will show how dedicated the Marine Corps is to do their job, and to do it right. On this day we set foot on forign soil yet again, but this time is not to attack an enemy, but it is to attack an ally. Although we are not at war with them, we are in war games. I want you to do your best to not get 'killed' during these war games. We will prove that we are far supperior than the old Shazbotdom Army was in ways that would make the Emperor, his wife, and the people of our great nation proud of us. Gear up and prepare to move out."

With that the marines stepped inside of the drop pods and prepared for insertion. Shazbotdom Marine Command was triangulating the corrent arial position that the Bravery would have to be at to drop the marines close to their allies in these wargames. It was estimated that at current speed, it would take 15 minutes for the MSF Bravery to reach it's designated drop point. General Sinthi then prepared a telegram to be sent to the Allies in these wargames.

***OFFICIAL MILITARY TRANSMISSION***
To: Members of the ATFOR
From: 3 Star General Thomas Sinthi

The Pure Socialist Holy Empire of SHazbotdom's Marine Corps will be in position in roughly 15 minutes. We suggest that you watch where you step while we drop the marines in using the Single Person Drop Pods from the MSF Bravery. They will drop in to about 700 feet then parachute to slow their decent and somewhat crash into the ground at 10kmph. Now the pinpint ration of these is off (in our tests) by 1.342 Meters which is why we are warning you of this. We do not want any Troops from either side being killed by accident from a malfunctioning drop pod.

Edge of the Woodland

In a heavily wooded area of the forest the 10 CENTURION clad soldiers went unseen as they concealed themselves.

They were close to the edge of the forested lands, and with their enhanced vision could see the beginning of the dusty plains leading over Lake Worth toward the deserts in the far distance.

On their vision screens they watched streaming real-time video of troops moving quickly across the badlands near Lake Worth. From their equipment they were most definetly from Independent Hitmen. Every so often the men dissappeared from the screens, as the satellite lost them, and then picked them up again a few minutes later. The feeds eventually went dead as the satellite moved out of orbit. But the information had been stored and passed along to the AAC squads also in the woodland, they could watch it from their visors at a later point.

Now another screen bounced into the helmet visors as the men watched a Predator drone flying over the woodland, trying to pick out the HDF positions. After a few minutes the Preadator locked on to a heat signal and began to track it through the brush. It was most definetly men, and a few miles away from freindly forces. The signal was stationery, and it was large. The position was instantly relayed to the AAC squads and they could deal with it.

Deep inside the woodland...

The Hirgizstanians were set up in their perimeters along with the Celtayoshi troops nearby. The AAC troops watched the recent Preadator relay on their helmet visors. Already their command, a Lt. Bergen, was up and chatting quietly with the Celtayoshi commander.

"Sir, if you have a Battle Network or similar gear to us we can relay the info onto your screens. If not we know were to go, I think we should move out and try and catch the HDF forces tonight, at least to observe them."
Bergen sat back on his haunches and waited for a reply.

The Major had called a halt to the advance when they were still some distance from the tree line that was now clearly shown in front of them. One of his scouts had reported that there didn’t appear to be anybody around and so the main group set up a temporary resting spot to wait for the allied forces. The men took off their heavy backpacks that contained woodland BDU’s as well as their standard equipment and dumped them on the lush grass where they also sat. A few men were posted as sentries with orders to watch for the approaching allied forces, but also keep a mindful lookout for possible enemy forces. Although a recent satellite pass had not shown anything up, the Major had not lived through two armed conflicts by taking chances with his command.

IHS Apollonia, Greek Class Heavy Cruiser,
Four Miles East of the Coast

Apollonia and her sister ship Thessalonica were now steaming a patrol course parallel to the main coastal features that littered this part of the Legionnaires coast. The two Heavy Cruisers looked like the cruisers of old with their cannons facing forward and the traditionally shaped bows slicing through the waves. The only thing that differed with them was the fact that they were nuclear powered and that as well as their guns they carried VLS tubes that were full of a variety of missiles. Apollonia also had the new Mk.3 Sea Smart Missile Launch system fitted to her which allowed her to use the new AS-1B Anti-Shipping Missiles that had been hurriedly taken aboard before she set sail to rendezvous with the task force for the games. The CIC was, as usual, fully manned despite lunch as the operators looked at their screens showing their own radar “take” and also that of an E-2CI that was operating with them at the moment. Just because it was a Special Forces Scenario at the moment didn’t mean the enemy wouldn’t want to come out and play with the Task Force and whilst not unprotected, two Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyers were between them and the shore, they were more vulnerable than the others of the fleet. But vulnerability for the surface ships was the price that had to be paid for their current mission.

Now in the lull of activity on the vessel signaled a change in its mission. Whilst most of the deck was abandoned several men walked briskly out of the main superstructure and headed towards Number 2 turret. Quickly climbing the ladders to the top of the flat turret they unfolded a small flat strip of metal and then removed the heavy waterproof covers from a mound at the rear of the turret, very close to the forward fire control tower.

Beneath the covers was a pair of the Navy Version of the Predator II UAV. The Intelligence Technicians moved one forward to one end of the small launch strip and began doing pre-flight checks on the oversized baguette. After nearly half an hour they were done, and praised the simplified flight controls for the quickness of the task. All but two of them then climbed back down the ladders and headed back inside to the separate control centre that they had for the two drones, and communicated with those left on the turret via radio.
On command the small engine on the “aircraft” started, and the two junior technicians watched as it moved off the front of the turret and wobbled into the air, its large wings spread wide. They followed it for a little while before those in the control centre switched on the small lights that dotted the airframe allowing the aircraft to blend in with the sky and be virtually invisible to the human eye. It was hard to shoot at something you couldn’t see.

But the Predator II didn’t know this and continued upwards until it reached 60,000feet by which time it was well over land and its cameras were already working, sending back imagery to the centre via yet another satellite, this one dedicated to the Intelligence gatherers. At the moment most of the cameras could see trees, but that would change soon as the UAV motored on against the wind at a speed of nearly 60knots.

Meanwhile back on the ship the two remaining technicians on top of the turret pulled the waterproof cover over the remaining drone and then headed back inside, exchanging greetings with the new deck watchmen who were just coming on duty after a full Navy Lunch.

OOC- I'm just going to jump in, not in any of the wargame stuff, but we're just going to hover in high altitude with ground surveillance aircraft and effectively watch how things are going. Basically its just my 'I'm still here' statement... Hehe. I may or may not get involved, someone would have to direct me around and set me up with one of the two forces.
------

The tone of a soon-to-be-sent transmission was dispatched from the planar arrays and left the aircraft as an audible tone aboard a radio transmission. Immediately in its wake was Lieutenant Commander Ivan Lynevskov's husky voice sounding to his fighter escorts: "Orel Odna and Dva, loiter at current position, maintain radio contact. We've already made arrangements with local air command. Our minimum altitude is forty thousand feet, maintain about forty-five, we don't want ourselves in trouble. Watch out and if anything strays too close buzz off, we'll catch you later." The closing tone informed the recipients the message had ended.

Two more tones erupted and were quickly followed by twin "Affirmative" replies courtesy of the pilots of the escort aircraft.

Lieutenant Commander Lynevskov watched the two matte black aircraft, each a brand new F-63K Tengriy definitive air superiority fighter, bank and pull around, beginning a wide loiter pattern as they'd wait either for them to end their mission or for a KC-214D tanker to replenish their fuel stores, whichever came first. With the two fighter aircraft well behind them now, Lynevskov pulled back and tapped into the flight crew's radio network, "Alright, bring us up some and let's do a slow run, keep us at a fifteen degree roll while you circle so we can get optimum ground observation, remember, we're doing electro-optical too."

"Got it commander. Lifting up to fifty, twenty seconds until first pass."

The rather sleek and dark-painted E-214G Airborne Combined Electronic Surveillance [ACES] aircraft nosed up and lifted to fifty thousand feet. Her flight controls turned her into a slight roll as she began a slow circle around the landscape and sea below, the land which held the current Ottoman Alliance wargames. The aircraft had already gained clearance to operate at a set altitude, so they knew they were safe from any trigger-happy ATFOR or OPFOR pilot... Although, it'd be kind of interesting to see their reactions. Nonetheless, the aircraft, now in its slow loiter, was scanning the ground with an array of electronics in a wide circle, making sure not to obstruct the actual airspace over the zone. The first was the the ground mapping radar to determine the landscape. Supplementing this was the pulsed doppler radar which caught the individual, moving objects on the surface and observed their traversal of the terrain, as well as ships at sea. Further supplementing this was the bulbous addition to the nose of the aircraft, the combined Photon Emission, Detection and Ranging [PEDR] suite, which blanketed the surface with laser emissions to detect ground and sea targets. Finally, came the passive systems: the infrared/thermal imager which caught the heat index of the terrain and noticed acute differences which signalled the existence of something other than nature there, a pulsed laser rangefinder helped determine distance to target; the passive radar imager which utilized passive radar receivers to detect radar-emitting sources; and the electro-optical suite, a comprehensive set of ground scanning cameras capable of taking ultra-high resolution images of the earth's surface. A fairly clear sky meant near-perfect view of the occurances below. A computer combined the detected images with a map of the area and known positions of Ottoman Alliance member nations' forces.

Within the belly of the aircraft, communications specialists listened in on the communications of non-encrypted radios, while SIGINT/ELINT specialists were listening to the encrypted ones, or at least those that could be decrypted.

Captain Igor Sverenskiy stepped up next to the Lieutenant Commander, originating from the forward command deck. "So, we're just taking a gander at what's going on down below?" He surveyed the operations deck before turning his head to face Lynevskov.

"Basically. MoD couldn't wait until after the games to read the after-action reports and summaries, we might as well put our strategists and specialists to good use. Provides ample learning oppurtunities." He nodded along with his speaking. "Oh, and since we're in charge of the Ottoman Alliance Ministry of Defense, that General, can't think of his name, that Dokhturov put in charge of it, wants to be able to see first hand how these nations perform... Something about setting up future plans, strategies, recommendations, etc. I guess he couldn't wait until they were over with either."

The captain nodded in agreement, rocking lightly on his toes as he scanned the operations deck, every member of the electronics crew hard at work at their station organizing data, setting traverse maps for the electronics guides, et cetera. His eyes lit up as an idea entered his mind, he quickly spoke over the hum of activity, "Hey, any word on if or when we're going to join up in these games?"

With a light shrug the lieutenant commander replied, "No idea... I think for now everyone at command is content with just watching. With situations developing across the world as they are now, I don't now if they're exactly comfortable with deploying forces to any war games. I guess we've got our home fleet, the Fourth, out there, but they want us in active reserve, in case our current on-task fleet is deployed elsewhere."

The captain shook his head, "Heh, confusing stuff. They're doing special forces right now, right?" He caught the affirmative nod of the commander, "Ahhh... Why do they want us loitering now? Not much to see?"

"No idea, I think they just want us to get some in-theater experience and see what we can. Most of all just so we can get a set map going with initial deployments by their forces. You know, get the whole picture: from start to finish." He took a deep breath, "Well, I'm going to be with the communications guys for awhile, keep me informed if anything interesting happens, its always funner to watch in real-time."

"Will do sir..." He watched the lieutenant commander navigate the narrow corridors between computer stations towards the rear of the aircraft, where the communications interception deck was located, before taking a final look at the operations deck. He about-faced and slipped up the stairs to the flight deck to chat with the pilot again.

The single E-214G maintained its slow circular loiter, keeping a watchful eye at the events occuring below. The twin F-63Ks hovered several nautical miles out to sea, keeping their distance from any war game air space, but keeping their radio channels open and their threat detection systems operating. Several dozen nautical miles out sat the Fourth Expeditionary Fleet, its naval air arm prepared to assist the airborne aircraft by means of aerial refueling when the time came, the KC-214 airborne tanker aircraft sat idle on the central carrier's flight deck awaiting its call to duty...

Woodland, Treeline

The CENTURION clad soldiers were nowhere to be seen in the treeline. They were very much apart from each other, but each knew where the rest of his team was and what they were doing, they could even get a live feed of what they were looking at or what their weapons were pointing at.

The sniper had set up inside a rather large tree stump. He was leaning back into the tree, the ghille clad rifle poking slightly out of the wooden stump.

The rifle was sweeping back and forth, the sniper picking up the sight's view in his visor. They knew there were enemy troops somewhere in the long grass that surrounded the massive Lake.

The sweeping winds made it hard to tell if they enemy were moving through the grass, as it was constantly waving. As the wily sniper was about to move positions he picked up a slightly anomaly in the grass. Something darker, something that didn't fit. He zeroed in on it but couldn't make it out properly, the waving of the grass made it difficult to get a good view.

He just thought for a millisecond and the sight in his visor turned from daylight to the bluey glow of a thermal imager. And right there in the sight was a man, lying flat on his stomach, grasping a colder gun. Behind him were fainter signals of more men. The sniper relayed the images and positions to his team-mates. They could hear each other speaking, although it was silent, they 'thought' to each other over the DNI in the suits.

The HGEC M-300 was brought to bear on the group, the gunner using his visors to zoom in on the position in thermal view and zero in the huge gatling gun. The plan was the sniper would fire, and if the group tried to break for it or worked out where the shot was from the Gatling Gun would get the rest of them.

The sniper zeroed in on the thermal images head area, as his body was too close to the ground. The sniper took first pressure and then squeezed the trigger lightly. The gigantic rifle let an almighty kick. Birds burst forth from the trees for miles around. The beeping in their helmets told them the MILES gear on the target had registered a kill. Now they waited to see what would happen, the Gatling Gun trained tightly on where they beleived the rest of the group were hunkered down.

(OOC: IH, depending on where a bullet strikes the CENTURION Armor and the type of bullet etc, it may not be a kill. So an M16 fired from 350yds at the chest of a CENTURION clad soldier would not be a kill. But say a 50.cal sniper round at 900yds fired at the head-that would be a kill. Study the pictures i provided you with and you'll see the areas the armor does not fully protect.)

Corporal Hicks didn’t know what had hit him. In fact nothing actually had, but suddenly the lead scouts blinker light started going off, announcing his death in the wargame, followed by the delayed sound report of the shot. He looked around in no small wonder before lowering his head to the ground and playing dead.

Behind him the group of Special Forces dived to either side of the small trail they were following and took up firing positions. Those four that broke to the left found a small rise that they got behind and waited for instructions, two of their number setting up their M249’s on the collapsible bipod whilst the other two watched the flanks.

“I swear the shot came from infront of us Sir.” One of the SAW gunners reported over the tactical radio net.

“Probably a sniper from the treeline judging by the noise. God knows how he saw us though.”

“Ok. Put some direct fire in that direction. Blue Team circle right and try and outflank them.”

The five men that had dived off the trail to the right began crawling their way further in that direction in the hope of finding some terrain to give them a flanking opportunity on the sniper. As they begun moving the two SAW gunners in their stationary position opened up through the grass towards the direction of the first shot. The blank rounds that were being fed into the weapons to give the sounds of a battle chewed up the first bit of grass in front of them, whilst the radar signal sped down range. The dinky little 5.56mm rounds had a small chance of actually doing anything to the soldiers in the woods, but it would at least hopefully keep their heads down whilst they tried to flank them.

Further back the other twenty men of the team found themselves a quick covered position and awaited orders. Five more of them were sent after Blue Team to aid the flanking manoeuvre and five of them went to the left to try the same thing there. The two two man mortar teams set up their 60mm weapons in a small clearing and awaited instructions along with the Major.

20-12-2005, 16:33
The 5.56mm rounds were smashing into trees all over the place. The spread of the CENTURION soldiers meant most of the rounds fell in between them, harmless. The HGEC M300 gunner had yet to fire a round. He had moved into a difilade position to be safer from the SAW rounds coming their way. He had watched through his thermal sights as the soldiers broke cover and moved to firing positions.

Now they had settled in he had a clear shot and took it. The cannon powered up, the barrel spinning at an alarmingly fast rate and then came the rounds as the trigger was depressed on the firing lever. The huge Gatling Cannon began to fire, a lick of flame erupting from the end of the three barrelled gun. It still made on helluva noise even with Laser safe blanks. There were a couple of beeps as the gun hit its targets.

Then, as if nothing happend, the gun was shut down and the CENTURION clad soldiers dissappeared back into the treeline, listening to the SAW rounds cut through the trees behind them. One of the soldiers had registered a hit on his chest plate, another soldier had been hit on a thight plate, and all had registered at least one 'near miss'.
Independent Hitmen
20-12-2005, 23:04
The SAW gunners continued firing even as the reports of return fire came from the tree line, and they shifted their fire towards where they thought the sound came from. A difficult thing to do when their own weapons were going off infront of them.

They failed to notice that the two men with them were both hit by the minigun slugs, one was killed outright whilst the computer showed the other one as being badly wounded. They didn’t know that of course and both of the men just swore and lay down on the ground. They hadn’t trained for years to be shot through grass by some punks who didn’t have the decency to even show themselves so they could be shot back at.

Both men wondered as they lay down what they were meant to do now. In their arrogance they hadn’t bothered listening to the speech about what to do if you were “killed”, something they now regretted.

At his small CP the Major looked at his status board. 10% of his men were down and he still had no idea where the enemy were. At least they had brought plenty of ammo for all their weapons, the supply crates lay where they had been dropped, and carried hundreds of spare rounds and mortar shells originally destined for the HLF.

With an quick order the mortar teams began a simulated fire exercise, dropping 60mm rounds into the treeline ahead.

Meanwhile the two flanking forces kept moving through the grass hoping to get around the enemy. Both teams were co-ordinating their movement with the Major and with each other using the tactical radios as they closed on the treeline.

The Strike Force Lightning Soldiers were running back into the treeline as they began to hear the steady whump whump whump of mortar rounds stepping their way into the treeline. The mortars would have been accurate had the ten men stayed put, and it did stop them going back that way.

As the mortars cracked the trees and shook the ground a few hundred metres behind them, the soldiers were hunkered down around trees, in two's. One man covered while another placed small plastic coated anti-personnel mines and camouflaged them against trees and around bushes.

Anyone attempting to flank them or come from behind would get a nasty little surprise.

Once down the men fanned out far apart and literally began to sprint through the forest, despite the weight of their equipment, their exoskeleton's helping propell them at a pheonomenal rate through the forest. They would be long gone before any flanking team appeared.

With no transmission from the fleet informing them of the whereabouts of friendlies, the special forces team remained hunkered down behind cover, watching the treeline and using passive IR equipment to scan the areas of thicker foliage. The captain in command knew that waiting was just as common in war as fighting, and often more so. This delay would be good practice for his men.

More time passed, and when no transmission were recieved and no movement was spotted, the captain decided it was time to become proactive. Using hand signals so as not to alert any enemies listening in on radio channels, he ordered a fire team to move into the denser forest and scout around. The leader of the four-man team, a sergeant, nodded affirmation and quickly gathered his men, heading out.

The team moved slowly and quickly through the underbrush, moving in a straight line. The point man, an older private, kept his gaze straight ahead. The two men behind him monitored the left and right sides, respectively. The sergeant, coming last, watched the rear. Confident in his comrade's abilities to monitor their respective zones, each man was able to devote his full attention to his share of the surroundings.

The team came to a thinner area in the woods; not a clearing, but much more open than where they'd come from. The point man raised a fist, and the team stopped. The sergeant nodded, and they broke formation and dispersed in the woods. Moving in single file through an open area was an invitation for failure. Just before the team entered the open area, they heard the shot. As training dictated, all four dropped to the ground immediately and played dead.

"Shit," one of them muttered. The sergeant glared at him.

"Think it was one of ours?"

The sergeant shrugged. "No way to tell. Sure thing is, we probably got friendlies in trouble," he whispered.

Wordless, the team crouched up on their heels, and began moving quickly toward the sound of the shot.

Once the mortars had fired ten quick rounds each they paused and awaited corrections from the forward SAW team. That SAW team had also stopped firing when the enemy appeared to have disengaged and now they were attempting to scan the woodline from where they were.

Failing that because of the damned grass they radioed for the flanking teams to check it out. Wary of a trap the teams approached slowly, not knowing that this allowed the enemy to break away from then even more efficiently.

As they reached the treeline they called a halt, better for them to reorganise than enter into it at the moment.

Scene: MSF Bravery
Captain Nickelson looked back and forth on the bridge of the ship as he walked to weapons control. He ordered them to fire four shots from the Railguns toward enemy positions. This was to help in cover fire during the insertion of the Marine SpecOps troops.

Nickelson: "Do we have the correct triangulations for the drop pods?"

Helm: "Yes, Sir. Inserted to the computer and the marines are ready."

Nickelson: "Commence Operation 'Hellfire'."

With that, the railguns fired as the drop pods fell out the bottom of the ship toward their designated points. If all went well, they would land approximatly1 kilometer away from the rear friendly positions.

Scene: Pod 15
Private Nick Hickelback was a first year recruit within the Special Forces and this was the first time that he would be deployed outside of the Shazbotdom boarders. He clutched his AR-22 in his hands as his pod rocketed toward the land. Within a minute, the parashute fired and the pod jolted as it slowed down to a safe speed for the crash into the ground. He held his breath as the pod slammed into the ground. His heart felt like it was beating 1000 times a second as he punched the eject button and the front hatch of the pod blew out so he could escape the pod.

Scene: On The Ground
General Sinthi caught up with his men after all the pods were covered up the best that the SpecOps could. It was do or die now as the SpecOps began to walk toward the Allied camp in the distance, hoping that no enemies were scouting around the area.

36,000 Ft above the Wargames Area

The crew of the E-8C JSTARS C3 aircraft were working flat out as usual. They were busy viewing screens filled with double lots of six point co-ordinates, and overlaying sheets on maps. At the same time they were uplinking the information, via the network, to the SOF teams on the ground, who were viewing the information over their visors, recording the co-ordinates and trying to work out where the pod-dropped soldiers would be moving to.

Woodland

The CENTURION soldiers had already decided the pod dropped soldiers were going to go for the OPFOR installation in the forest, to wipe out the main OPFOR element before it got moving to fend of ther HDF.

The CENTURION's plotted a number of different courses through the woodland via 3D topographical maps, much like in a helicopter. They decided on what was the most likely route based on factors like terrain, altitude, exposure, distance and weather.

Then the 10 men silently moved off into the forest, moving ultra-quickly with their exoskelelton's.

-Sorry took a bit longer than I thought it would-

The men who had reached the treeline were still there in a rough diamond formation spread out over nearly 300yards with weapons pointing out all around them. The Major in command had linked his mortar group up with the two SAW gunners and now they were moving through the long grass to make the final linkup. The three administratively dead men gathered their gear and began a trek back to the nearest patch of clear ground to be picked up and then flown to the IH “dead” area that had been established on an IH hospital ship attached to the fleet.

Even as they began walking the Major in charge received orders that he was to head to the OPFOR base in the forest to reinforce it against a possible attack. He didn’t have a particularly good feeling about following the path where the enemy had fallen back so he decided to march for another two miles parallel to the forest and then enter it there with a much smaller chance of an ambush.

IC:
Scene: On The Ground
General Sinthi and the SpecOps troops were making their way toward the ATFOR controlled bases west of their position. It would be a 8 hour hike and they had the cover of nightfall for their approach to the complex, which would help make sure that they wouldn't be followed by any enemy troops. General Sinthi was preparing a short text message to the Independant Hitmen and Malkyer troops in the area advising them of Shazbotdom forces nearing the base.

OFFICIAL MILITARY TEXT MESSAGE
TO: Commanding Officers - United States of Independant Hitmen and Imperial Commonwealth of Malkyer
FROM: General Sinthi, Commanding Officer - 2nd Company of the Marine Corps "BlackOps" Special Forces

Our troops are nearing your position. Please prepare barracks for them when they arrive.
