In the days of great imperial expansion under the warrior emperors great stretches of land where conquered by the imperial legions bringing untold areas of land and peoples under the emperor’s jurisdiction. Yet all these new areas where still sparsely garrisoned by imperial forces and not well explored. To answer this, the emperor ordered an imperial expedition with a 360,000 captured soldiers to mine gold, silver, and precious stones deposits in a southern province only a few miles from the coast.

The expedition successfully established the mines using information from locals. The mines produced unrivaled amounts of high quality gold, precious stones, and silver in the world. So great was the amount mined that to answer the need for a more efficient form of transportation that a new port had to made and treasure ships had to be created. Thee port and ships were built within a few months. As well the first fleet departed within a few weeks of its construction. The gold and silver were either wrought into bars of made into coins before they left. As well the precious stones were already masterfully carved in the city before export.

After many years of the mines operating, new laborers being brought, and the fleets sailing to the Scandinvan homeland one fleet would at last meet a terrible fate. This fleet sailed forth from the port was one of the wealthiest fleets to ever depart. As well the fleet was carrying the payment for the imperial legions to finance the wars of expansion. Yet the fleet was doomed because to the east a great storm was brewing. The fleet in its second month of sailing encountered the storm and was utterly destroyed save for a few men who survived by swimming to a chain of nearby islands.

The current imperial government has decided that the fleet’s treasures should open to people from outside the nation to go to the site. The awards will be that the person will be allowed to keep 15% of whatever they find and as well they will be fully reimbursed for up to 95% of the remainder that will go to the imperial government.

The grizzeled old sea dog had been wandering around Nerhanburg for nearly two weeks now, trying to discover if the locals had any old tales or legends about a lost treasure fleet. He could just imagine how reach he'd be, but had yet to meet with even a modicum of success. Eventually he decided to enter the next bar he came across. Iorek walked through the door and up to the bar wit the rolling gate of one who had spent his life at sea, and ordered a whiskey. Hmmm, he thought, maybe the bartender knows someone I could talk to.

OOC:I'm assuming you'll talk for you're people. Is this correct?
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 05:13
OOC: You are correct. Imperial stand for a direct descendent of the imperial family thay is considered part of the extened imperial household.

IC: The bartender hurled to the old man his wiskey and said," Well, neasrly everyone in this town knows of the treasure fleet only the imperial goverment really knows it's exact location. But, good luck getting it out of them. They do not speak imperial secrets save with an imperial's leave."

Iorek swirled his whiskey a moment before draining it. He slid the glass back to the bartender, motioning for a refill. "If the government knew where it was, surely they would of salvaged it by now."

The bartender refilled the whiskey glass and slid it back at Iorek. Then he said," No, it was just found about 15 years ago, but yet the emperor didn't really care as he already controls of trillions of Darvians and the amount of wealth the fleet was carrying may seem beyond or wildest dream, but to him it just another hoard."

Iorek nearly choked on his whisky. "You said what?! No man in his right mind would pass up that kind of wealth." He slid the glass back and asked "Even if they need Imperial permission, who around here would know where this thing is?"

OOC:What's your currency by the way?
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 05:39
The bartender laughed and refilled the glass. In response he stated," The emperor controls enough wealt he can finace the goverment's budget for a decade easily. Well the only one around here that will know the is the quarter imperial mayor."

Iorek drank this one slower, thinking. Finally he slid it back, this time with a one hundred darvian bill stuffed in it. "Anything you could tell me about this mayor? And how do I get to talk to him?"

OOC: Is Darvian your currency?
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 05:54
The bartender took the hundred Darvian and then said," The mayor is a landholding noble with a considerable amoount of money. To contact him all you have to is go up to his mansion."

OOC: Sorry about that. To tell the Darvian is the offical currency.
Money Syestem:
Brass Coin: 1 Darvians
Bronze Coin: 5 Darvians
Copper Coin: 10 Darvians
Bronze-Silver Coin: 20 Darvains
Silver Coin: 40 Darvians
Gold Coin: 100 Darvians

As well as bills come for each of these as well.

Iorek motioned for another. "And all I have to do is walk up there. No appointments or anything?"

21-11-2005, 06:01
The bartender responded," This may be an empire directly ruled by the emperor, but the voice of the people can always be expressed at least to the lower levels of the goverment."

Iorek grunted at such a silly idea. But in this case it could work to his advantage. He motioned more emphatically for another round as he asked "Do you know anything interesting about this mayor of yours? Any hobbies or odd habits?"
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 06:11
The bartender answered," Well the emperor has been known to be a adventerous at times, but he just stays in his mansion so we barely know anything about his private life."

At this point Iorek was practically flailing his arm about, trying to get another round as he asked "So there's noone among the locals who knows anything useful?"
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 06:20
The bartender just gave him the bottle and then said," Well, there is the old sailor who though crazy knows the location of the site within eighteen miles and even has a map. Though he is rather a loner."

Iorek slid a gold coin across the bar. "And where might I find this sailor?"
The Scandinvans
21-11-2005, 06:28
The bartender replied," He is over in the corner of the town down by the sea and the main port area. His house is the gloomy, but large house nearest to the sea."

OOC: This is my last post for tonight as I have ot go to sleep.

"Thanks." With that, Iorek left and walked toward the sound of the sea.

OOC: G'night then.
