Where is Goso and Comino?

Situated in the central Mediterranean, the islands of Goso and Comino are easily accessible from the European mainland. Placed strategically in the Mediterranean between Sicily and Malta, Goso and Comino serve as two important layover points for foreign shipping and flights. In fact, if you commonly travel by air throughout the Mediterranean, it is not unlikely that you have already visited Goso and Comino’s famous Kemmuna Airport without even realizing it!

What does Goso and Comino have to offer?

Everything! From historic architecture to a vibrant nightlife, Goso and Comino has one of the most diverse and beautiful tourist attractions in the Mediterranean. Add in a hospitable and genuinely caring populace, and it’s no wonder that Goso and Comino is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations south of Naples.

Goso and Comino’s historic architecture goes back to the early 12th Century, when the island became a stopping point for Hospitaler Knights destined for the Crusades. Many of these visiting knights and their families remained in Goso and Comino after the Crusades had passed and, with their families established an array of historic churches (http://www.uh.edu/admin/engines/octagch.jpg) and castles (http://www.marz-kreations.com/Photos/Photos/02-Mal/SP5-SelmunHill.jpg) which dot the landscape.

Another attraction Goso and Comino has to offer is its beautiful scenery. In true Mediterranean style, the islands of Goso and Comino are a gorgeous array of hills and vales surprisingly reminiscent of the Italian countryside. Lush valleys and vineyards dissolve into rocky plains and the wonderful cliffs near the sea (http://noisy.compsoc.man.ac.uk/~jp/johnandcicci/honeymoon/images/02%20-%20View%20over%20Malta.jpg), while inland the fields stretch on forever with their own grandeur. As was once said, the land itself is simply exquisite.

Past the sights and sounds of old Goso and Comino, many are also drawn towards the bustling metropolis of Silema, which plays home to nearly 200,000 of Goso and Comino’s 430,000 people. Here, in the new downtown, hundreds of clubs play host to a multitude of local and foreign partygoers. In the world-renown shopping district, everything from the latest style clothing to homemade souvenirs can be purchased. And whether you’re out shopping or just looking for a good time, Goso and Comino’s warm, friendly population will make your visit one you’ll remember for lifetimes.
