The city of Videte was beautiful in autumn, the sky was clear save a few soft clouds, and the art deco skyscrapers shined the sun of with a wonderful radiance. The street sweepers were out in full force, for the great festival was about to begin, the Festival of Gerald was in a week, and the workers of the city were making the final tune-ups, stringing the traditional candles above the streets of Videte, repainting the buildings of the city in the burgundy stain of the Hornando crown, and for that matter, the Kingdom itself. The Royal Gardens were being fitted with food venues, restrooms, and the flowerbeds were being converted into fire pits. However, in addition to these reforms, the Royal Guard prepared for the worst of possibilities, a terrorist attack by the Darian rebels, who killed millions of Muurites in the southern province of Muur. The Royal Guard feared that the militaries involvement in the conflict would trigger the Darians to attack during this most wonderful ceremony of the Hornando Throne.
King Horus looked out the window at the Burgundy city preparing for the celebrations. Since the time of his birth he had seen the city of Videte come to life for this three-week celebration. It would become ablaze with lights, and color. He watched as the workers churned away at buffing the marble in front of the palace, determined to show their nation as the most beautiful nation in the world. Though unlike them, Hours knew that it was not. The nation was terribly fragmented, the conflict in Muur was just one of the areas that was at the breaking point, the Juliks were demanding that they be given the same rights as the Yucans, and Lanka, the Duchess of the Yucan had left her realm to leaving Bonstock with her husband, Harald, the President of that nation. Horus had installed William von Horner, the minister of the State, who once was the head regent until the nineteen-year-old Horus’ regency ended at age seventeen. Horus heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” he answered, as he turned to see Mark Dominguez, Horus’ personal secretary, holding a stack of papers in his hands, “What do you have there?”
“I have the responses from the national leaders you have asked to come to the festival.”
“Show them to me.”
President Puller Lunphi, along with his wife and daughter, will attend your festival and banquet. We thank you for the Invitation.
Your servant,

Unfortunately the President will be unable to attend because the date of this event corresponds with the date of regional elections and his presence is required for those. The President is so very grateful for the invitation and regrets that he cannot make it.

Dear King Horus,
On behalf of the Great Magocracy of Caladonn I would be delighted to attend this intriguing celebration. Although our two nations have had little contact in the past, I hope that this unfortunate situation can be rectified soon.
May your Magic shine brightly,
Aramil Holimion, Supreme Archmage of the Great Magocracy of Caladonn and Chancellor of the Collegiate Arcane
I humbly accept your invitation.
