An Imperial Funeral (Open, FT)

News of the Emperor's sudden death has reached into the far corners of the Empire. There was much mourning and sorrow for such a great man. A small number of rebels, however, has taken this solemn day to cause trouble and were quickly stomped on by the Imperial boot. In the meantime, a week-long mourning was ordered for the entire GE by the Moff Council as they begin preparations for conducting the grand funeral of the greatest leader of the Empire...ever.
A pitch-black Star Destroyer enters the Coruscant system, followed by equally blackhole colored escorts. As the fleet enters orbit, an Infiltrator-class shuttle descends onto the Imperial Palace and lands on the personal pad of the recently-late Emperor. A woman in her late 20s, wearing tight-fitting clothing and with eyes as golden as that of a hawk, steps out of the shuttle and onto the palace grounds, where Imperial clonetroopers await her, standing at attention.
Lady Nightshade has arrived to conduct the funeral and consolidate power as the new Empress of the Galactic Empire...

A boy, his hair dark, shimmering black in the half-light; clothed in black; a tight oriental collar button to the throat; a jet-black uniform of mourning and training. An example of restraint and dedication; discipline and status. He could not have been more than 12, and yet he walked down from the ramp; following Nightshade; moving swiftly up to her side.
"Why are we here, Mother?" He whispered softly; "What's happened? Where are we anyway?" He glanced about; hands closing almost sub-conciously in a nervous gesture; the air seeming to tighten and constrict about the boy.

"We are here to mourn the loss of our glorious Emperor Palpatine, my Janus." Nightshade purred. "And to pave the way for a new leader to lead the Empire to a new age."
On her other side was the quiet Jesse. The lesser son. For some reason, metal around him seemed to shift and move slightly as he walked.

The ceremonial guard of 6 black armored stormtroopers marched down the ramp of the Lamba-class shuttle. The craft had set down on the intended landing pad at the Imperial Palace upon Curoscant.
Dressed in his best and smartest, his white uniform and black polished knee high boots imaculate, Grand Admiral Alabar walked down as well.
Once news had spread that Palpatine had died, Alabar had had the Galactic Empire forces gathered for the coming war disband and return to their respective nations space. All three of the Thrashian fleet's assembled had been sent back, and Alabar had come to Curoscant in his own flagship.
Two Imperial courtiers awaited him at the end of the landing pad, his guards marched behind him in neet formation. Each bowed at the waist to Alabar.
"Welcome Grand Admiral, her Highness has been expecting you," one said.
"Thankyou, I am saddened to have to be here for this occasion. Please lead me to her."
Alabar walked through into the large audiance chamber where the Emperor had once met with dignitaries and military officials from throughout the galaxy. Upon the black throne at the end, instead of the mighty and powerful figure of Palpatine sat a woman. She was beautiful, but in a dangerous way. Alabar noted the cat-like grace with which she stood. Alabar walked forward and stopped at the edge of the raised dais. He put his right hand to his left breast and bowed slightly.
"Greetings Lady, I am saddened to have to be here for such a solemn occasion. I am here also to talk with you concerning the future governing of the Galactic Empire, on behalf of my Emperor Shadaum," said Alabar smoothly. Not only was he here to mourn the lost Emperor, but to talk with this Lady Nightshade concerning the future holding of power for the GE.

"Of course, my dear Grand Admiral. But we must await the other members of the Empire..." Nightshade answered, with a purr not unlike that of a Corellian sandpanther. "After all, we are all in this together..."

"Quite my Lady. I wonder who has yet to arrive?" Alabar asked. He turned to the left of the throne where a small boy stood, silent and yet pronounced in presence. The young boy's dark hair and equally black eyes were somewhat disturbing to Alabar.
"I suspect this to be your son?" Alabar asked.

"And my next in line, Janus." Nightshade nodded as Janus stood proudly. She then introduced another boy, his twin. "My other son, Jesse."
Jesse nodded in acknowledgement. This boy has slightly lighter hair than his brother and a skinnier build. His blue-grey eyes show a haunted look, like he's trapped in circumstance beyond his control and doesn't know how to escape.

The boy smiled lightly, yet coldly; so very like his father, he was. Schooled by him in everything from the Force and the Arts of Sorcery (Much unknown to his mother) to the arts of war; of lightsaber combat; of Machiavelli and Sun Tzu and countless other strategums. His father truly seemed, as far as he was able, to lavish love upon the young boy; whose youth belied an intelligence far beyond his years.
Even now he stepped forward; looking Alabar up and down, tilting his head as he forced his psychic and force abilities forward; the air seemed tighter; the gravity around them seemed to whine; the ramp buckled lightly, pulling towards the ground as he moved forward; and then all was calm. "My blood shall unite the Empire; should my time ever come; my mother shall rule long and proud, a singular ruler; as always; and should my time come; I shall bring together two of the grandest kingdoms of darkness in rulership"

In a desolate area of space, a red planet spun. If one could get past the gargantuan shipyards surrounding it, past the seemingly apocalyptic storms that ravaged the surface, then they would see the civilization of the Horde.
In the capital city, under the watchful gaze of the towering War Palace, sat the smaller yet equally impressive Spirit Lodge.
Within the Spirit Lodge sat the greatest religious leaders of the various Horde races. Even the chief spiritual advisor to the War Chief himself, the shaman Drek'thar, sat within the Lodge's hallowed and golden halls.
It was Drek'thar who felt the first tremors in the spirit world. His eyes, blinded by age and pupil-less, snapped open in instinct.
"Something...has happened..." said the old shaman slowly. This caused his compatriots to also arise from their meditation. "A great evil...awakes...grows in strength..."
"Da Legion?" asked Vol'jin, the high priest of the Gurubashi troll empire and Drek'thar's most trusted associate.
"No...not the Legion...different...yet the same..."
Later that mooncycle, Drek'thar spoke with War Chief Doomhammer. He spoke of the darkness that befell the inner systems, of the evil that grew there...that was incubating...biding its time.
By the time the moon had set on the capital city, a single cruiser had jumped to an undisclosed location near the core, with a one-man fighter wakejumping with it.

James Talon, his face unnaturaly aged by his position, switched off the holorecorder. He lay his head in his arms, the life seeming to drain from his body. The Ministress of the Military Jennifer Halsey came over to his side. "It was a good message. We had made arrangements for you to visit the funeral if you'd like."
Talon seemed to not hear her. "Another great leader... one of the greatest in fact, is dead. Leadership is a game that is played with your head a Guillotine. We keep pulling strings, not knowing which one will drop the blade. Maybe it's age? How about disease? It could be death in war, or assassination. Every day we wake we pluck a string, unable to look up and see which is tied to our fates."
He looked up, something missing from his eyes. "Whatever it is, it's breaking me down to nothing. Send David Archer, he'll know what to do."
He pressed a button, and the holorecording was sent to Corescant.
It was once written that in time, the flames of this plane shall dim and fall to dust. Their spirits shall leave, returning to the Great Lords of the Forge, the Forgemaster reclaiming his creations. They shall be at peace there, all powerful and eternal.
It is unfortionate that I could not come in person to see the Emporer's funeral. However, my doctor has informed me that I am unfit for such a trip. I am sending David Archer, Minister of Foreign Relations. I hope that his words shall be worthy to express my feelings.
James Talon, Prime Minister of the Galactic Inferno of No Endorse
A small diplomatic craft hypered in above the planet of Corescant. It slowly moved into a parking orbit and beamed down a request for landing clearance.

Drakomis stared into the blank eyes of Oscar Vladinchi, his reptilian expression blank, almost in shock. He couldn't believe what Oscar had just told him, the Emperor had died?! It seemed impossible, for no mere heart failure nor normal causes could have brought such a dark and powerful being down. It had to of been the work of someone else, someone he had not expected, someone more powerful than him.
Someone no one being could suspect.
"Your telling me," started again Drakomis, in a rough reptilian voice, "That the Galactic Empire's Emperor, our Emperor, the one whom we hid so long our Freedom from, is dead?"
"Yes Comrade," responded Oscar in a heavily influenced russion accent, "It would seem that our 'Emperor' is dead."
"Good, Good. Saved me the trouble of dealing with him. Now we can harbor Jedi in peace." He looked away, "Saves us the trouble of having to defend against our betrayal. We were never going to betray Neo Zeta anyway."
"Indeed. Against Republic's way, of course."
"Of course," Drakomis sighed. "Well, have a ship ready. I should go and pay my respects. Afterall, he did teach me a thing or two."

Imperial Palace - Coruscant
After landing on a small pad, an Anagonian Scout Ship had hissed the remnants of its stored pressure, opening its side hatch. Moments later, four figures started to walk down the steps, and onto the walkway leading to the palace. In front was a distinct individual in a dark suit and helmet, hiding his species and identity. He walked as if he was pleased by something, by some event. Perhaps it could have been the death of the Emperor himself.
Nevertheless, three figures in brown robes and cloak followed behind. Who they were was also a secret, and brought here for personal insult. It was an expression that only those with keen senses could grasp, for only those inspired in knowing Anagonia's personal stance within the Empire could ever know the extent of the cursing.
They were here for the mourning as members of the Galactic Empire. But as members with-holding a certian power in their borders, they were here to see who this new leader was, and to ensure they could plan properly for their future.
~~~Elsewhere~~~
Such news as this travels far and swiftly. In deep space, far from any inhabited world, strange eyes read about the Emperor's death, and a stranger mind considered it. Interfacing directly with the Harvester's onboard computer, Xhertahk scanned all available files on Palpatine’s life.
Unfortunate. This death removes a most interesting power from the galaxy. Hopefully, a replacement will arise… with any luck, seeking vengeance for the Emperor’s death. Perhaps I could even be of service in such an effort. I believe I will attend this funeral. Emperor Palpatine has earned my respect, and there could be additional benefits….
A ship tore from orbit; plunging through the myriad spires of Coruscant to rest upon a landing pad; a great black thing; as though it had never left the clothes of mourning; a shadow amongst shimmering light. It opened; unfolding; as the great warrior, the Juggernaut; the hand of Nurgle himself; Lucian, stepped forth. His armor was polished with phlegm and ichor and pus as he strode forth; wreathed in the great cloak of the Destroyer; a pestilant billowing thing, alive with the Hive.
I am not impressed by your show, nor shall I ever be. Stop this foolishness now, Nightshade. You have already felt the strength from my Apprentice, from my son. I will not hesitate to bring you down, no matter the odds.
A growl could be heard even from within the confines of his dark helmet, The Emperor is dead, and we have no more use to pass judgement on the Galactic Empire. So be it, but leave my Brethren to go. I sense that I will only be tolerated here.
He quickly waved them off, and they quickly ran with speed back to the docking pad. They were not to be a part of any decision made here, their purpose was only, truthfully, to experience the Darkness and its strengths. Lessons learned, and an alter-purpose fulfilled, they were not needed no longer. With a quick glance back, he turned forward, and bowed respectfully to Nightshade.
You honor my life, I honor your existance.
Something was amiss here, no Jedi would truthfully bow to a Sith! How could this one? Perhaps there was a secret purpose for him to be here, and perhaps he had already seen something coming to pass. Whatever the case, he walked on to a unspecific standing spot to meditate and concentrate on what had happened.
"Funny how Blood Oaths save lives," he said to himself not allowing the helmet to amplify it outwards.
The rough-looking, angular ship roared through into the atmosphere, its armor glowing a faint red from the friction, but made a surprisingly soft landing near the palace. Armored plates slid aside to reveal a door, and a dark figure dropped to the ground. Xhertahk, the first and only KX-1, was of about human size and shape, but clearly not organic. Heavy battlesteel armor covered him from head to claw-like toe, and his limbs were clearly too thin for flesh to be hidden within them. Long arms, a spiked lower jaw worked into the armor of his head, and deep, triangular eyesockets gave him a trollish or goblinlike look. Despite the heavy armor, he moved easily and quietly as he headed for the palace.
Admiral Thrawn II
20-11-2005, 01:42
The Star Destroyer Conquest came out of hyperspace near Curoscant. It was followed by an escort of two Dreadnoughts. The SD came past the main outward Curscant defenses and then went into orbital mode near a docking station.
A lone Lamba-class shuttle launched from the SD, but was flanked by four Tie Fighters.
"Curoscant control, this is Shuttle Iberium, requesting permission to land on behalf of Grand Admiral Thrawn," said the shuttle's pilot. The comm crackled for a moment.
"Shuttle Iberium, you have clearance to land," said an answering voice. "Follow the designated path to the landing pads."
"Affirmative Curoscant control, Iberium out."
The shuttle moved around the tall spires of Curoscant's heart and avoided the main traffic ways, then came to a large landing pad next to the Imperial Palace. Its ramp lowered and off came an entire platoon of stormtroopers, two had large unwieldy looking contraptions on their backs. They were followed by two officers in the olive grey of the Fleet. After them came a one last person. He stood tall and immaculate in his perfectly pressed white Grand Admiral's uniform. His blue skin was dark in the coming of nightfall and lack of light. His red eyes scanned the faces of the small group of Imperial servants who were waiting to welcome him.'
"Welcome Grand Admiral Thrawn," said one, he bowed like a courtier. "The Lady Nightshade is waiting to see you."
"Indeed, take me to her," he said. He motioned to his men, half the stormtroopers came along, including the two with the large metal frames strapped to their backs, these staying the closest to the Admiral. The two officers also followed.
The group was led through several halls and staircases unti they arrived at the throne room. Thrawn entered with his escort. Inside at the end of the hall was the throne of the Emperor, and seated upon it was a woman.
Thrawn stepped forward and stopped before the dais. He nodded to the woman. "Greetings Lady Nightshade, I am here of course to pay homage to the late Emperor, and be apart of the discussion concerning the continued existence of the Empire." The two stormtroopers, their ysalamiri backpacks excluding the no-force bubble, stood less than a few feet from the Admiral. The other troopers snapped a smart salute to the Lady.
The Emporer dead... it is a sad day for the Empire to see one of such power succumb to the material world.
He walked towards Lady Nightshade, a small document in hand. However, seeing her engaged in conversation, he patiently held back. There would be time enough to give her the pad. No Endorse was reaffirming it's vow to the Galactic Empire, and the proper way to do treaties was still by hand.
We could transfer his spirit into one of our "spirit stones" and keep him from actually dying. We have made 3 of these stones. John bowed deeply, a slight ammount of fear in his mind at the force-something no No Endorse citizen could fathom. "I deeply apologize for James Talon's absence. He is ill, and cannot travel through hyperspace right now. This document I hold is a re-affirmation of No Endorse's membership in the Galactic Empire. The death of a leader is something to tighten bonds in an alliance, not loosen them. As such, we wish to show our devotion. We hope that you will accept this document, reaffirming our loyalty to the Empire."
Drakomis had stood in the same place for a while now, making sure he was away from anyone for the time being. He had his reasons, specifically because he was in constant contact with someone. Lady Nightshade presented no threat to him, if anything she showed herself to be a Sith. This could be driven around, which wasn't easy in the past.
Something did bother him about Nightshade, however. He sensed something more to her than she dared expose, even with her previous release of anger. What was she hiding? He strongly believed it to be a key piece in this game of cat and mouce Anagonia played with the Galactic Empire, but he couldn't place his finger on it. He sighed, hopfully he would find out soon.
A quick gaze to the other participants in this...funeral revealed many a Nation strong enough to obliterate Anagonia. They were threats, yes, but they too could be tricked into looking elsewhere, or thinking something else. Currently, Anagonia was an ally to them, and thats all that mattered. So long as it stayed that way, so long would a peaceful link to the Empire be kept. Drakomis had no time for war, it would make him move a critical piece in his game that could essentially kill the Galactic Republic. Hopefully, this piece would never have to be used.
All these things were petty matters, respect for the passing of the Emperor came first. Planning anything would take valuable time, and Drakomis hadn't the time to seriously gather any information other than the obvious, or so he presented. Sith happenings shouldn't be his concern, Jedi problems should. If anything, now was a time to relax. Bringing back something of long pass took deep meditation, and great concentration.
The Force was currupt here, but he let the twindles of evil pass by him. He had no use for its strength, for he called the Light side to him. He did feel ripples, but looking around they were probably people realizing what he was. This was of no concern, he had no time for them. It would be interesting to see what message the late Emperor had left.
The Lambda-class shuttle broke through the clouds and sped into the lanes leading toward the Imperial Palace. "Two minutes until landing," a voice spoke over the intercom. The pilot banked sharply into a descending lane of traffic that led directly to the looming palace before them.
On the ground, High Chancellor Rosenthal strode up to where Lady Nightshade stood. , he began to speak "My Empress," he said, "I represent the Sucellan Governance on the behalf of our Sovereign Arbiter. He was unable to attend as he is currently in diplomatic talks with other allied nations, but he wanted me to remind you that the Sucellan Governance will remain a loyal nation to the Galactic Empire."
"It is good to see so many nations loyal to the New Order." Nightshade smiled thinly. And now...it is time.
Within moments, a side entrance to the funeral room opened and the three members of the Moff Council entered. Moff Blathe, who commands the Navy; Moff Pael, who's in charge of all ground forces; and Moff Hael, whos in charge of special forces and R&D locations like Kamino and the Maw.
"Lady Nightshade. Everyone present. It is time." Admiral Blathe announced.
They headed back inside and the interm Empress followed. The Moffs lead the group of delegates to a chamber filled with somber-looking Imperial troops surrounding the lifeless corpse of the Emperor. Ahh, the Emperor. Even in death he still exudes the very image of the Dark Side with his pallid face and his sunken eyes. He almost appeared to be merely sleeping, meditating on the power that he wielded in life. But alas, his spirit has left him. Perhaps to journey the universe in search of more dark secrets. Perhaps simply haunting the halls of the Imperial Palace and by extension, Coruscant to ensure continued loyalty in His Majesty's subjects. Whatever the case, the Emperor...was.
Interesting. What else do you wish to speak about?
::My lady, before we begin the ceremony, I must tell you the disturbance. The attack on the shipyard wasn't a random strike made by the rebels. It was carefully planned and well executed attacks. I felt a presence I haven't felt in nearly 200 years. I feel that we have a traitor amungst the Malkir and he's on the loose. I wish to speak more about this, and the possibility of the revival of Palpatine later.:: Aelikes bowed and sat down. He eyed the room cautiously incase of any suspicious activity. He then awaited for the lady's speach.
John moved to see the Emporer, almost trembling in awe of the power that his dead form still eminated. This man was a giant among men, a wielder of a power on a plane that the puny men of No Endorse were only beginning to fathom. Force use was nonexiastant in the Inferno, but there were other mental pursuits that could start to rival its omnipotance.
He knelt before his form and brought a small gas lantern from beneath his clothing. He uttered a few short words in a high tongue forgotten by the rest of the Galaxy, and removed the cover, placing it next to the lifeless shape.
John swiftly retreated, slightly disturbed by what was done. No one besides a Leader of a Clan or the High Leader himself had ever recieved such an item at his death. Strictly speaking, it could be interpreted as heresy. However, it was done, and the Emporer was worthy of it.
May history prove geniouses or fools of us all. I do not regret this day.
Alabar stared at the corpse of the dead Emperor. He was somber as he watched the represenative from No Endorse give a parting gift. "Dead old man...you are dead, and with you goes your Empire," thought Alabar. he turned and looked around at several of the other people seated around. He noticed another Grand Admiral like himself. He was strange, tall and with blue skin. As if sensing Alabar's eyes the man turned and Alabar stared into the red eyes.
"I will have to meet him," thought Alabar. He walked forward to the dead Emperor and snapped into a perfect military salute. The he turned on his heel as perfectly and made way for others.
Lucian was a more brooding figure; to lose an ally and a father in so short a time. He came at the will of the new Emperor; Remiel De Drakan; whose cruel ambition demanded solidarity with their allies in the face of the Khornate menace bearing down upon them from the galactic fringe.
Two great warriors; two great leaders fall; how long will it be before Remiel's ambition leads him here; to take this... He sighed softly; watching the proceedings from a corner, his body seething corruption; flies dancign in the plague ichors as he breathed deeply into corrupted phlegm-ridden lungs.
Drakomis had his turn now to walk towards what was left of the Emperor. Each step led his senses to feel as if they were in the presense of the living Darkness himself, and each sound of his footstep brought his mind into a greater revelation. Time seemed to stop around him as he came closer, and closer. The Dark Side swirled around him, and he sensed a power unlike any other. It was gone, but even its residue....even what was LEFT....was emmense.
His feet began to shiver, almost as if a voice called him to bow, to pledge all his soul to the Darkness. He resisted with all his strength, knowing he would have to continue to not attract attention. He continued, walking, yet nothing showed mercy on him. It would take what seemed several minutes for him to complete even three steps. It was so thick, so....much Darkness he walked through. He was the resistance, he was Light. His side of the Force made him slower here, his mind saw everything. It was an intense time of emotion...of feeling...of pain.
Somehow he managed to get to the body of the Emperor, the cursed corpse of Darkness. He knelt by his own will, trying to go along. His cape hid his hand reach for his lightsaber, and almost hiding an armored tail that made itself known.
A sudden rush of feelings and....Oh! The intensity of his emotions now! he wanted to slice the corpse, to completely destroy what was left! The surge of hate and rage, it almost consumed him! Thoughts of killing, thoughts of revenge, thoughts of....no! He roared beneath his helmet, his mic not modifing it so others could hear. His fist slammed against the floor, then his other. Again and again, over and over!
It looked almost as if he was bowing and disagreeing with the Emperors death. Yet only those intuned with the Force could see the drama unfolding...could see the truth. But all would see the not-so-dramatic ending.
Something grasped him, from inside. It pulled him from the Darknesses teeth, and the Light came over him once more. He sighed, and stood, hiding any trace of his...reptilian nature by feeling the tail once again hiding beneath the cape. A quick turn-around, and he walked off to a non-specified location.
His thoughts drew calmer, and he stood to meditate. Something had tried to take him, something that not even anyone HERE could do.
But what did, Drakomis said aloud.
After the surrounding delegates paid their respects, the Moffs opened a sealed will, written by the Emperor himself.
Grand Moff Blathe read it:
Here lies the last will and testament of Emperor Palpatine. Leader and Founder of the immortal Dark Empire.
"My death, my absence will cause rebellion. My death, my absence will cause traitors to reveal themselves. My death and my absence will cause a stir within the greatest civilization the Galaxy has ever known, but I have foreseen this. I do not leave the mortal realm against my will, I leave it because it is necessary. I leave it because beyond the mortal world lies a greater power, beyond our world lies infinite knowledge.
The Galactic Empire upon my passage shall not be leaderless. I entrust the security of the Empire to Grand Moff Blathe, Grand Moff Pael and Grand Moff Hael, who will each choose the successor Emperor/Empress. Their decision must not take any longer than three standard Coruscant days, if it does, then I appoint Lady Nightshade, my apprentice, as Empress and supreme ruler of my Galaxy.
The Imperial Navy and armed forces have been instructed to begin Order 555/949C. This order has, I can only assume, activated all Imperial military forces and ground armies.
At this moment, each Imperial faction is now under the direct supervision of the Imperial Navy. If any member so hopes to cause a military rebellion and destabilization of government, their homeworlds will suffer an immediate Death Star strike.
Military curfew shall be declared upon the implementation of 555/949C. If any world attempts to rebel then immediate cleansing is authorised and encouraged.
As my last and final act as Emperor, I declare the Moff council to be the supervising body within the Empire. Grand Moff’s Blathe, Hael and Pael, shall each monitor the new emperor’s/empress’s actions until they so deem he/she ready and competent to rule.
The members of the Moff Council shall directly choose their successors, as to be a counter weight, to the Imperial throne."
Nightshade noted it carefully. She was pleased that the Emperor thinks her fit to rule, but not so pleased that power has been divided between her and the Moffs. But then again, it does make sense. After all, she's new at controlling a vast Empire, so she needs to get her feet in, so to speak.
Alabar frowned when he heard the military restrictions. He himself was Commander-in-Chief of Thrashia's Fleet and personally commanded the 1st Fleet, but these new restrictions troubled him all the same. He recalled in his mind that the Death Star was still in Fleet hands. 'Perhaps an oppertunity lies here,' he thought to himself.
Alabar walked slowly over to the blue skinned Grand Admiral. "Greetings Admiral Thrawn, it is an honor to finally meet you," said Alabar. He smiled and put out his hand.
"Alabar, Grand Admiral Alabar of the Thrashian Imperial Navy," the man said.
"Oh, is that right?" Thrawn asked. He quickly brought to his mind all the information he could on the Thrashian Empire. He remembered that they were a powerful force within the GE, having some of the largest and most powerful Imperial Fleets. Thrawn wished for a moment he had such resources.
"Thats quite interesting, and how does the Emperor of Thrashia see this new developement?" Thrawn asked. He nodded to the dead Palpatine.
"Yes, that would be favourable," said Thrawn.
"Good, then perhap we can meet on your ship, as mine is still in far orbit," said Alabar. He turned and walked back to where the Lady NightShade was. He bowed.
"Forgive me Lady, but I must retire for the day. I have thus far neglected my Fleet duties and they are now calling. I will return on another time," said Alabar. Nightshade nodded.
Alabar turned smartly and went back into the bubble of no-force zone around Thrawn. "We can now leave," said Alabar.
John Archer was a little bit more than worried.
This is a bold move for the Emporer. I wonder what he's planning, or what his enemies would plan. His authority has not traditionaly extended into No Endorse, we have usually been trusted to stay out of the way and mind our own buisness... Seems that we have acted more as an ally than a full vassal state to the Empire. Is that about to change?
Is this move an attempt to extend into Inferno soverignty? Sanctuary is not very widely known to anyone outside our quadrant of our galaxy, but would a death star care? This is quite disturbing... I must think on this, and speak with Lady Nightshade at some point.
"I thank thee Moff Blathe, for showing us his final intentions in his time of dying. We may now continue his work after he can no longer. However, the hour is late, and I have had a long journey.
Lady Nightshade, may I retire? Or would you wish to discuss something with me about No Endorse and its role in the coming times?"
As she nodded to Grand Admiral Alabar in dismissal, she turned to Archer. "If you're worried about the will, as long as you remain on the Empire's good terms -which isn't hard, you know- you need not fear anything."
Admiral Thrawn II
24-11-2005, 21:47
Thrawn sat once more in his command chair in his private courters aboard his command ship, the Star Destroyer Conquest. Grand Admiral Alabar sat across from him in another chair.
"So Admiral, I think we are in agreement that this loss of the Emperor has left a significant 'hole' in the fabric which makes up the Galactic Empire? If so then we must examine our possible courses of action." Thrawn turned to large screen that appeared on the wall. On it were a list of Imperial Admirals and higher ranking officers who were within the military of the dead Emperor.
"At this time all Imperial forces across the galaxy are on high alert against so called 'acts of treason' and the Emperor in his wisdom has declared that the Death Star will reinforce the power of the throne's decision until such a time that the Empress can rule by herself." A small globe, the DS, appeared.
"The Death Star is the only thing keeping the order at this time, we as Grand Admirals are given the right as Warlords and hold higher authority within the Fleet and Army than even the Grand Moffs. That is one thing the late emperor has forgotten. The Grand Moffs are political creatures, and while they may command the loyalty or support of most troops...the real authority lies with us as Grand Admirals," said Thrawn. He smiled and noticed Alabar nodded and yet sweating at the same time.
"If we were to eliminate or take over the Death Star, and cause a significant amount of the current Imperial Military to our own forces...we could depose the Lady Nightshade, and truly bring the Empire to its full potential."
Thrashia
24-11-2005, 21:57
Alabar thought it through for a minute. Thrawn's reasoning was strong. The empire was weak right now. We do have the majority of power in manner of ships and perhaps we can take the Death Star and use it against Nightshade and any cohorts she brings to her side.
"I agree that the Sith have for far too long been masters of what they did not personaly earn," said Alabar. "However, if we are to correctly achieve this...coup de'ta, we will need more support than just the Thrashian Empire and your star fleet Admiral, I have faith in my nations fleets, and while they are large, they are not inexhaustible. If we are to do this, we will need help from the soveriegn empire of Chronosia. With such a triumvirate, we could perhaps succeed. I would not attempt this unless I was asured of either Chronosia being nuetral, which I highly doubt, or their support."
"Then what do you suggest Admiral?" asked Thrawn.
"Offer Chronosia a share in the spoils of conquest, offer them 15% of all Imperial Worlds recaptured and a place of council or a ruling body that will be made only of our three nations."
"It could work," said Thrawn.
"Yes, I will send intermediaries to speak with the embassador from Chronosia," said Alabar.
"I apologize if my speach is out of line, and I do not mean for any word to reflect on you or any of the leadership of the Empire. But under the Empire No Endorse has had a fair ammount of leeway to manage its own affairs. These limits are quite ah... direct in stating what must occur in No Endorse. I know this is an emergency situation, but this could set a precedent.
Will His Will cause any of our independance to change? Some of my people will be worried about this, and slight unrest would be terrible in light of Prime Minister Talon's health."
It had been a good time of meditation on the past events, on what had happened. During this time he had many a conversation with Admirals and Commanders, Generals and Leaders of any armed people. It was a warning to them, that Jedi would need to be hidden once more. Anagonian Sith would once again seem to rule over the spectrum, their temple on Novar would continue to shine. It was a disguise, really, a vale to hide the truth.
Such is the way of this game, and such was the game. He had plans to make sure that the Empire would never interfere with Anagonian Affairs, after all, they was considered traitors at one time. The board was well set for the next move Drakomis was to make, he had placed key persons to ensure that this disguise was well done. With a slow motion he turned towards Nightshade, and slowly walked towards her. The next pawn would be moved, and his words would finish it.
With a respectful bow he began speaking in his modified voice.
Honorable Nightshade, my recollection of the Emperor's life has brought me to one outstanding conclusion.
He hid well through the force his next words, making sure his feelings were true to the lies about to be said.
The Empire hasn't visited Novar in quite some time. I would be honored to have you there, to host, to feed, to keep well your troops. It is the least I can offer after our.....troubled history.
Prime Minister James Talon had just gotten off a hololink with John Archer. He was in a good mood, the will that had been read would not be a permenant state. A good mood indeed. So good, in fact, that he smiled at several office interns, and was whistling a catchy tune from the radio. I wonder why they still call it a radio? It doesn't use radio waves... maybe it did in the distant past? Old habits die hard I guess.
He walked into his office smiling. Jennifer Halsey nearly had a heart attack at the sight, and his secretary thought he had cracked, but who cared? He was content that whatever the outcome, there would probably be no danger to the Inferno. Heck, they were even in a different galaxy, and the Great Drift blocked direct hyper-routes to Corescant.
As he logged in to his terminal, he noticed an urgent message in his inbox.
'To the Emporer of No Endorse'? Someone hasn't done their homework. Must be something like a temp palace servant company... or better yet, a 'Grow Your Lightsaber in Six Weeks!' one!
The humor was slight enough to make him perk up a little more. However, it fell as he opened the letter.
A gap? How so? Lady Nightshade is as capable as any leader could be, scary as all get-out, strong willed, and smart. Who would want to bump her?
He read on. Serfdom? Taxes? We've gone with minimal alliance dues for years! No extensive costs or fines or anything! And what good would five planets in another Galaxy do us? Give us a monopoly on a small strip of barren space between the two? Overextension!
He pressed a button to connect him with his secretary. "Get Jennifer in here five minutes ago, we have a situation. I'd also like Archer if he's available, if not we can manage."
"Archer is not available sir. Miss Halsey is on her way."
Jennifer burst in, a concerned look on her face. She expected me to be going crazy or breaking down or something., he thought ruefully. "Jen, look at this." She read it, and fully understood his concern.
Jennifer stood up, brushing her hair back. "Lady Nightshade is a strong leader. Anyone trying to rebel against her would need Chronosia on their side at the least... and maybe that Death Star they love to trumpet about so much."
"Nightshade at least said she'd work for the preservation of our current independance. I think she'd be true to her word too, no reason not to. We're worthless to that Galaxy as an uprising territory, and our greatest ally is at our back. We’d be an ulcer with enormous supply lines needed to get at us. However, we provide a great stepping stone into this galaxy from there."
She nodded, and qued up a hologram of the Empire. "Well, I for one think that it would be good for Nightshade to be in power. We at least know who and what she is. These newcomers are wildcards, we have no idea of their intentions.
However, they may posses enough power to crush Empire. We could stand up for the empire, using our remoteness and unfamiliar geography against these newcomers, or we could aid them against our friends. However, there is always the risk of defeat, and the winners might not look kindly on us. We could let things drift. Things can go on without us."
Talon nodded. "I was thinking a moderate reply. Maybe two beeps? Tell them we're not going to support them, but won't hinder them? I guess we send two beeps and the word neutral to those coordinates. Hopefully they'll understand. In the meantime, signal Archer, and get him to tell Lady Nightshade of this. Make sure no one can intercept."
"It would be impossible to. I'll see both done personally."
John Archer was asleep when he got the message. His reciever went crazy, waking him violently. "WAAAAA! EVERYONE DOWN! INCOMING!” After a second of burying himself in the sheets, he realized it was just his receiver. He rolled over and checked it.
“Hmm... this is interesting. AYE! Not good." He left his bunk on his shuttle, and moved back towards the palace, ensuring no one was shadowing him. He greeted a doorguard, explaining he'd left his datapad at the meeting room, and moved swiftly to it.
“My Lady, may I speak with you for a moment in private? There’s been a slight altercation in the Aurora system.”
Something that routinely happens... sounds innocent enough for prying ears, yet important enough for her hopefully
ooc: this doesn't screw plans up too much, does it? (as in is there an agreement on how this RP should pan out, or are we playing as we go?)
Some hours after the actual funeral...
The Emperor's corpse was set to lie in state in a inert-gas chamber within the Imperial Palace. Four Royal Guards will protect the corpse from any possible danger forever.
The Moffs have gone into a meeting to debate on the next leader of the Galactic Empire, but it was pretty much unanimous that Nightshade would get the throne, simply because of three reasons. One, they already know her well and an unknown could be worse. Two, her family lineage means that she has royal blood in her, which would be beneficial to any throne. And three, the late Emperor has effectively named her as his successor anyway.
So therefore...
"My Lady." Grand Moff Blathe kneeled before her as she sits on the throne. "The Moff Council has unanimously decided that in the interests of the Galactic Empire, you shall be crowned Empress. Congratulations, your Majesty."
"Why, thank you, Moff Blathe." She smiled. "Go out and proclaim to all the galaxy thus. We need wait no longer."
"Aye, my liege." Blathe said.
-----
Nightshade Proclaimed Empress!
New Empress to take Throne!
She's Hot! She's Bad! She's the Empress!
And other headlines soon screamed out to the Holonet within the hour and within the day, all but the farthest corners of the galaxy will know who is the new leader of the Galactic Empire...
-----
And her first duty as Her Royal Majesty, the Empress?
“My Lady, may I speak with you for a moment in private? There’s been a slight altercation in the Aurora system.”
"Of course." She answered via comms. "Let us talk about the little problem..."
Alabar recieved the coded transmission from his unmarked observation ship that had recieved the message from No Endorse. Alabar stood on the bridge on Thrawn's Star Destroyer, the ship hovered near his own which was on the port side.
He read the message to Thrawn. "It is safe to assume that No Endorse, that coward, will be neutral for the simple reason of scooping up extras after the fact."
Thrawn nodded. "And no doubt their Emperor will inform Nightshade....yes. But as yet there is no proof, they would be simply wispering into the wind. I think it is time we began preparations."
"Quite, and I will also be aproaching this new admiral that arrived recently. The Admiral Khan," said Alabar. Thrawn nodded.
On Curoscant
Another man, similairly attired as the one who had and was speaking with the Chronosian embassador, entered the chamber that housed Admiral Khan. The admiral was awake and held a blaster in his hand pointed at the chest of the man who enterd.
"What do you want?" he asked.
"I am here on behalf of my employers to offer you a prize beyond your dreams," he began.
"Continue," said Khan, he still held the blaster up.
"There will soon be a strife in this galaxy. Many members of the Imperial Military do not think Nightshade is fit to rule in the absence of Emperor Palpatine, and thus along with many officers of the Fleet and several allied nations, a coalition is being formed against her. My employers wish you to join them.
In return they offer you 5% of all spoils of war, two planetary systems, and the ability to commision a force of 20 ships of your choosing from one of my employers massive ship yards, be they Star Destroyers or Carracks they will be free of charge," said the man.
"If you agree to these terms then you are to leave Curoscant at once, and send a transmission with two pings to the following coordinates: A-7c/32. I bid you farewell to consider the offer." The man bowed and walked backwards out of the room, leaving Admiral Khan to consider the offer.
Edit/ooc: No Endorse....your a thorn in my side... :P, nah, your fine. You have nothing but speculation and an errie transmission whose source no longer exists...so theres no proof to give, leaving you to just make things more tense with rumors and suspicion.
Thrawn watched as Alabar left the bridge of his Star Destroyer. Then he turned back to stare at Curoscant. "Ensign, get me an open transmission to the planet, code it as will be shown in the memory banks," said Thrawn. The man nodded and worked at his computer.
Thrawn had thought not to use this method but, it seemed expediant to do so now. When Thrawn had first met the Emperor Palpatine and eventually become one of his Grand Admirals, he had provided Thrawn with many secrets within the galaxy that very few others within his inner circle did know. 'Even though I am a clone of my former self, I am still Mitth'raw'nuruodo,' he thought to himself.
"Transmission open sir," said the ensign.
"Very well, send the following: 800-A4 activation code alpha omega 626. 800-A3 activation code alpha sera 626. 800-A2 activation code alpha omega delta alpha 626. Target: No Endorse embassador."
"Transmission sent sir....we've just recieved three affirmative beeps sir...whats that mean?" asked the ensign.
"Nothing that need concern you Ensign. Continue your duties." Thrawn turned on his heel and left the bridge to return to his private chambers.
On Curoscant, in the Palace a small emtpy hallway in the depths of the old palace, a section of wall slid open, it made a slight noise, as metal rubbed against metal. Inside, three pairs of glowing eyes appeared. Out of the long hidden chamber stepped three Level A assassin droids. Each was armed with a electric staff, a lethal sword, and a heavy blaster.
They moved quickly in formation down the hallway, avoiding people or sounds, and headed for the chambers of the No Endorse embassador.
"My Lord" the cry came. "We still have nothing, I don't care how much we need it...we can't work miricals."
The Grand Admiral paced, his hair going grew in spots. Before him sat the Lupine form of one of the many Intelligence offiers. There where hundreds of them, monitering communication across the board. For Coruscant was a hot bed, anyone could be here.
"Work harder, Nightshade trusts me, She is the Empress."
"Why don't we try and contact them? You ARE a Grand Admiral, and you have some of the best Monitering devices in the Empire."
"It would seem suspicious. We need to make them come to us."
"May I suggest linking you Personal comms? Are you going to see the body?"
"It might help...but there is so muc..."
"My Lord, go. We can handle it alone for a few hours."
Grand Admiral Kail Markos Sighed. "I suppose you are right, I must go...keep me posted."
Ten minutes later, the shuttle launched. It zoomed through space. Four fighter escorts entered formation, before all five craft made the Jump to hyperspace.
They arrived in Orbit of Coruscant. And the craft began.
"This is shuttle Kiras, Shuttle of Grand Admiral Kail Markos. wishing to get landing clearance. Please respond."
Khan put his blaster back under his pillow and sat on his bed. He had a lot to thin about. His system had always been independant, Khan having ruled it for two decades now, and so far they had had no outside interfearane.
He had traveled here to pay homage to the founder and creator of the Galactic Empire, and he was presented with a heir whom he did not know; the Lady Nightshade. All he knew was that she had been named heir...
"What am I to do," he asked the shadows.
He thought about the offer again. "Two more habital systems, plus who knows how many millions of credits...plus another possible 20 Star Destroyers!" Khan had managed to construct his own shipyards in the Borain system, but he had never been able to construct more than three Victory-class Star Destroyers at one time, or two Imperator-class Star Destroyers at one time, and each project took three years and a lot of reasources; he had the men to crew them, but not the ships! It was a constant frustration to him.
"I will have to decide soon...or Borain will be swallowed in this coming conflict," he said to himself again. Khan picked up his comlink on the side table next to the bed.
"Captain Micklevi?"
"Yes sir?"
"I am prepring to leave the palace and return to the ship. Ready my arrival."
"Yes sir."
Khan dressed quicly in his uniform and got ready. His four guards outside the door saluted and followed him as he made his way to the landing pad.
So...It has begun. Nightshade smirked as she heard the reports. Then she ordered through a secure comms, "Lock down Coruscant. There is an assassination attempt in the Palace."
Immediately after the orders were sent, all of Coruscant, including the space lanes, had security tightened like a noose. FTLi fields came online, blocking any attempt at escape. The fleet primed their weapons, preparing to shoot at anyone without question.
"Jesse." Nightshade said to her son. He knew what to do.
"Yes, Mother." The boy disappeared in a puff of black smoke.
Three TIE Avengers swooped around the Kiras and began escorting the ship to the Palace, where a squad of clonetroopers awaited.
Alabar stepped onto the bridge of his Star Destroyer, alarms going off. "Whats happening? I want a report now!" He stormed over to his command chair.
"Sir, we have yet to know, but aparently the palace has been locked down, and all of Curoscant with it," said the communications ensign. He looked up at the admiral.
"For what reason?" asked Alabar. The ensign put his hand to his headset for a moment. Then nodded.
"An assassination attempt is either happening or has happened sir," said the ensign. "I am not quite sure which, all the transmission lines are quite busy."
"Alert my stormtrooper company and Major Valens that they are to report to Empress Nightshade at once," said Alabar. He turned around and fumed. This was completely against the plan that he had agreed upon with Thrawn, or did it have anything to do with Thrawn? Could it have been someone else? I must know....but how?
Major Valens marched down the halls of the palace, his company of stormtroopers in his wake. They entered the main audiance chamber and secured it. Valens marched up to the throne and bowed to Nightshade.
"Empress, I am ordered by Grand Admiral Alabar to secure and keep you safe from harm," Valens said. He was a young man, only in his late 20s, but he had gotten top marks in the Thrashian Military Academy, and he was one of the best army officers that was attached to Alabar's command.
the 200+ stormtroopers set up positions around the room, others secured the side doors and then a few others, a platoon, marched forward and placed themselves in a two line position facing each other, leaving an isle from the throne dais into the middle of the room. Valens stood in their midst. Valens notted the presence of the No Endorse embassador, and nodded to him.
After a moment he came back to the fore. "Grand Admiral Alabar says he will be arriving shortly, but he says that the security is currently keeping him from leaving his ship."
Two platoons of the company that had accompanied Valens marched through the halls. The Lieutenant, commanding the force, led them on to where the assassins where. They turned down to a long hall. At the end two droids holding weapons stood, the bodies of two clonetroopers were on the ground.
"Charge." The stormtroopers got into a formation and half-marched down the hall firing as they stepped. The hall was lit like a light show, beams of red laser tearing through the air. The first droid took the brunt of the fire, its metal frame nearly melting from so many heated impacts. The other grabbed the body of a dead guard as a shield and brought up its own blaster, and returned fire.
Two stormtroopers fell under the return fire, then they came on. The 1st droid fell in a heap and did not rise. The rest fired and concentrated on the other one. Eeventually a lucky shot hit the droid in the leg, causing it to lose its grip on the body of the guard. Several bolts of energy hit it in the head, and it fell to the ground.
Stormtroopers rushed forward and looked around. There was no more movement anywhere. The door of the room they had tried to enter was open. Three troopers entered it. A metal form fell to the floor from the ceiling and landed in their midst with a quick clockwise spin with the droid's sword he cut down all three of them and launched itself into the hall. It was met instantly by a hail of laser fire, which blasted it back into the room. Its metalic corpse remained motionless.
The lieutenant entered with more men, and they secured the area. He opened up his comlink and spoke into it. "Assassins are destroyed, I repeat, the assassins have been destroyed. The area is secured."
"Affirmative Lieutenant, Major Valens orders you to return, and bring with you one of the assassins bodies."
"Yes sir."
After several minutes the two platoons arrived and a stormtrooper marched forward and dumped the metal body of the assassin droid on the floor before the dais.
A breeze began ruffling through the area as Nightshade narrowed her eyes dangerously. "When I ask for someone to present himself before me, I expect it to happen. Now tell him to get down here -the security will let him through- and to stop making excuses. I must speak with him urgently."
She made sure that the security will let the Grand Admiral through.
Dear sir,
At this time the Galactic Empire is at a weak point. With the death of Palpatine a gap has appeared in the once proud fabric of the Empire. It is teh belief of many powerful Imperial Officers and allied nations that wish to take control from a woman. The nations in question have wished to impart upon you the opertunity to join them in this effort of a coup de'ta, and in return you are offered independance from serfdom forever, and will be given economic immunity and freedom to trade without taxes in all parts of the Empire; as well as this you are given 5 other planets of your choosing, not including the planet of Curoscant in your choices. If you wish to join in this effort, then simple submit a series of three, 3 second long beeps back in a transmission to these coordinates: A-7c/32
As it happened, it was early morning at the Palace when the mysterious message arrived. King Garnyn Delerän was just sitting down to breakfast when an officer from the communications crew hurried into the room.
"Your Majesty, we've just received a most unusual transmission. I believe it warrants your immediate attention... and strict secrecy."
"Oh? Very well, everyone out!"
As the door closed behind the last servant to leave the room, the communications officer displayed the message.
"Hm... Very interesting. You were right to bring this to my attention at once. It might well be a fake, but we can't afford to risk that. I think it would be best if we informed the Federation of this situation...
"I do wonder why someone decided to send this to me. Have we ever had any significant contact with the Empire?"
Thrawn glanced down at the 'dead' assassin droid. He looked back up to Nightshade, his face never showing emotion, he hardly ever even allowed himself to smile, even in triump.
"I am curious as well, as to who would order this, and for what reason," said Thrawn. His eyes studied the man who stood next to Nightshade. He was a sith, that he knew, but he had never met the man personally.
"I too was preparing to leave, I was informed by my men that there are matters I must attend to on my own planet," he said evenly. "But if a traitor is amongst us and wishes the downfall of the Emperor's will, then I will see them dead before you feet your Highness."
Applause rang out from the shadows as the great figure of Lucian stalked forth, chuckling wryly; his voice echoing from within his armor as he turned the blazing slits of his helmet towards the Thrashian. They seemed to burn with fervent anger, and righteous indignation, as he advanced. "My Lady" He bowed his head. "I have matters that must be brought to your attention; matters concerning feelings regarding the soverignty of the Empire. It would appear that the Thrashian delegate has some...Doubts over your obvious power. I smell it off you, you perspire it; It clings to you like musk, and you reek of it...Of the Valley. I may not know my erstwhile Brother; but he spoke of the great Power."
He turned to the Thrashian once again "You are out of your league boy..." His hand grasped the shaft of his great War-scythe; the Daemon Weapon; Manreaper...
"As such, I suggest the termination of the Thrashian delegate and an immediate investigation into their...Heretical ways; by right of our time served and our loyalties thus forth tallied; the Imperium, and my esteemed Emperor, Remiel; put forth that from this day forth, Chronosia stand as the Lord Castellan of the Empire; and that the Inquisition given it's place to root out vile heresies..."
Alabar frowned at the tall armored Chronosian. He had thought his secret offer to the Chronosian Empire would persuade them to his side, but obviously it had not.
"I do not know of what you speak sir," said Alabar. "Perhaps you are mistaken? I have no doubts what-so-ever of the Empress Nightshade ruling in the place of the dead Palpatine. We are here discussing this recent attempt of assassination. Perhpas you could bring to light as to who might have been the target? Or perhaps the one who hired or activated such machines?" asked Alabar, his face had remained neutral as the Chronosian spoke.
"As to treachery, the Empire of Thrashia has long been loyal to the Galactic Empire, we've fought in it's wars and supported its member nations, such as yourself sir. I myself have led a fleet in support your empire sir. So be careful as to whom you call traitor."
Alabar clicked a small button sown into the inside of his sleeve. The man, or rather the humanoid droid that had offered the secret offer to either nation, had its memory automatically erased, and a slow process was now happening, a small liquid which was highly corrosive to metal, begant to flow through the machines brain.
'That's the only real evidence gone,' thought Alabar.
Careful, lest your thoughts betray you. A secret smile beneath Lucian's mask of deathly glory. The gifts of nurgle evident in the flowing ichors as he strode forth. "I will call whom I wish traitor; Traitor." He chuckled again, watching him, his eyes alive with energy; the crackling, seething corruption of Nurgle. "If the Admiral would be so good as to deactivate his little toys; I shall open my mind to the Empress herself; and allow her to view the undiluted truth of my mind. I assume that you shall possess no such qualms about having your memories examined for...fore-knowledge of such a terrible plot. After all; assassin droids roaming the Palace, co-inciding with my revelations. Rather odd, is it not; that conspiracy tends towards action premature?"
He turned from the Thrashian diplomat for a moment, something moving in the shadows, drawing his eyes...Armor, a Space Marine; a Primarch; he could sense it, smell it; taste it...
Lucian turned back towards the Thrashian. "In short; I suggest that you defend yourself; or remove yourself from my sight, worm..."
"Good, make for Borain. This is all too much drama for me," said Khan. He leaned back in his chair and sighed. He watched as his Star Destroyer moved out beyond Curoscant. His deck officer ordered the helm to make way into hyperspace, at .2 level speed.
Khan thought again on the mysterious offer. He would decide when he got home.
Khan sat in his command chair of his Star Destroyer, the Dominion. "Tell them I am Admiral Khan and I am leaving the system," he said again. His comms operator nodded.
Khan thought again on the mysterious offer. He would decide when he got home.
OOC: *AHEM!* I did not say you could leave. And there's a big FTLi field preventing escape into hyperspace.
IC:
A hell of a lot of ion cannon bolts were thrown at the Star Destroyer trying to leave. Designed to knock out all electronics, the massive amount of fire, as well as the Death Star's presence will surely deter escapees.
"My Lord...We just got this in. Those Assasin Driods where ordered from a Stardestroyer in orbit. I think you may like to tell the Emperess."
"Thank you Commander" Kail said. As the shuttle came in, he smiled, he moved quickly, jumping off the platform before the base had even hit the ground. He checked the Implants in his wrists. -Perfect- he thought as he made sure the blades activated when he wished.
"My Lor..." A aide said, moving in his way. He recived a shove for his efforts, as the Grand Admiral marched towards the Chambers he knew he had been summoned to. He looked at the Storm Troopers Guarding the door, and smiled.
"I am Grand Admiral Kail Markos" he said simply. "The Empress has summoned me into her presance, and I do feel I have infomation she would wish to hear."
"I am sorry, sir, but the Empress is busy--" One of the stormtroopers suddenly felt a little tight in the neck.
Young Janus stepped forth. "My mother is expecting you."
Janus had the Grand Admiral follow him inside. Once he reached the throne, the Empress beckoned the Admiral to whisper in her ear. She's almost ready, just needs one more bit of evidence, circumstancial or otherwise.
Alabar smiled. "But of course sir, I have nothing to hide from her majesty in this matter, since I neither summoned these assassins nor do I intend treachery," he said easily. He knew for a fact that even if this Chronosian played his memory before the Empress it would not betray him. His humanoid droids had been quite clear in not naming names.
Alabar reminded himself that he was surrounded by some 200 stormtroopers, who were answerable only to him. That plus Thrawn had a small contingent as well. He smiled again and nodded to the Chronosian.
"If you truly have nothing to hide, my dear Grand Admiral, then why do you surround yourself with a Ysalimari or two?" Nightshade asked as if asking about the weather. "And I very much doubt you have had the stormtroopers come in out of the bottom of your heart. Please, step outside that little bubble of yours so that I may see the truth."
Aelikes walked up to the Grand Admiral, "be cautious of what you say to the Lady, Grand Admiral. We just wish to know what you are really here for," he really doesn't trust this Grand Admiral. The only ones who hide behind Ysalimari are those who have something to hide, he was told by his master. His hand gripped his lightsaber hilt, not to draw it however, just as a precaution.
ooc: sincere apologies. School had blocked jolt and cable guy didn't understand that you plug wire A into slot B. Everythings fixed now though.
Thanks for intercepting a tightbeam transmission that was locked directly onto the reciever... However, I like where this is going for now.
IC:
John had been leaning against the wall with his eyes almost closed. He had already arranged for a backup of the transmission to be kept on his ship, personally delivered by corrier. The man was now restricted to the ship, and the whole craft was sealed off as if it were in space.
Looks like somebody wanted to assasinate another. Was it me? Maybe it has to do with my pretty little present here? Eh, they have little to gain by taking my life except the entire brute force of No Endorse thrown behind the Empire. And maybe the sadistic pleasure from it...
He was still immobile against the wall, head bowed. In fact, the only move he had made since the alarms was to nod at the major.
Let them scheme and plan and postulate. Let them panic and tear at each other's throats. And in the intense concentration, a deactivated personal shield will be missed. As will a small disrupter... I WILL find the instigators of revolution.
He fingered the tiny device in his pocket, one blessing of coming from a world with limited metal resources. They made more with less, and small was good for secrecy.
Why all the storm troopers? And what about those Ysalimari?
Wait for the right time. Nightshade answered as Jesse entered the room and stood away from the Force bubble, locking his eyes on Thrawn's troopers. Floating around the boy were three metal marble-sized ball bearings. Anything else metal also moved slightly as he moved. It appears that Jesse's growing powers are electromagnetic in nature. One of the quirks of being related to the Masakis is that each child is born with unique abilities that manifest when puberty hits. Jesse would be one of the more powerful Masakis when he is fully trained. Janus will be greater still.
Wait for the right time.
Aelikes nodded his head and watched as Jesse entered the room. Though his powers were not as great as the Kirtir of old, he was still impressive even at his current age.
::Impressive powers, for his age. Most don't get there untill they reach (OOC: Kirtir) Knighthood. Who is he?:: He questioned Nightshade about the new character. ::Perhapse he'd be interested in knowing both the ways of the Sith and the Kirtir.::
His hand, however, still had not moved from his belt. If he was ordered to call for help, then he will. Not before.
My younger son, Jesse. Nightshade smirks slightly. As you can see, he appears to be developing a taste for electromagnetic abilities. My elder son Janus (and my Heir) is learning to control gravity.
Kail entered the room, crossing, paying no heed to the Two Grand Admirals. He walked to the side of the Empress and motioned to her.
"My Lady, I just recived word that the order for the Assasin Driods was sent from a Star Destroyer. Not sure which one, the origin point was coded, but with the evidence mounting...I have my suspicions."
He turned on his heel, looking at the two before him. He looked at them with the look of a Butcher trying to pick the best meat.
-They may be blocking the force, but they still might give this away.- he thought to himself.
Lucian's displeasure was manifesting; his eyes drawn to the young Masaki; a being pulsing with power. The fusing of two bloodlines; the merging of ambition and divinity. He realised with growing horror, the extent of Chronos' entrenchment here, as he looked back, only to find the shadowy Primarch gone. He cleared his throat; flies buzzing about him; his wrath loosing, as the Hive stirred, and pestilence seethed within his very veins.
"Perhaps if her Ladyship would like to review my suggestions. I also, as of this moment, request permission to disable the wretched force-inhibiting animals." He turned, his eyes fixed now upon Nightshade, before darting to her children, and then back to the Thrashians and the spectacle that prepared to unfold before the throne. "Unity must be preserved; the balance of power must not falter. We are one of the greatest organisations in the galaxy. Our power combined...Is near limitless. There are none who can stand against us, so long as we stand as brothers."
"I have seen a future; a dark future, where the legions of our reign stretch forth to the ending of the universe. Where all who oppose us burn in sacrifice and slaughter; where those who see themselves as "Ascendant, Elder Races" shall be laid low before the throne. Where the Xeno is usurped and crushed beneath our bootheels; their glories usurped as our own! That is our future.
"Why would you deny us that?"
Major Valens nodded to himself and stepped behind Alabar. "Excuse me sir." He pulled his blaster and put three successive rounds into Alabar's back before anyone else could react. Alabar had yelled out in surprise, then died quickly.
The man who had stepped forward to warn Alabar when speaking drew his lightsaber instinctively. Thrawn had not moved in the slightest. The Chronosian had brought up his weapon in guard mode and growled. Nightshade had not moved either.
Valens put his pistol back in his belt. He bowed to Nightshade. "I apoligize lady. The late Grand Admiral Alabar had ordered me to hold my tongue, however I can not stand for such treachery when set up next to the Empire. I swear to this," he pulled out a small recording disk. "that Grand Admiral Alabar had been planning treachery, ordered these assassinations, and was doing all this without authorization from the Emperor of Thrashia, nor High Command."
He pressed a button on the recording disk and a small holographic image appeared. It was showing Alabr standing next to a comms officer. The image of Alabar spoke to the ensign. "You are now to send the recorded comfirmation message down to Curoscant to activate the droids, the man from No Endorse must die. And when your done be sure to send another messenger to Admiral Khan and see if he won't join our plot. I've had enough as it is of listening to Nightshade..." the image became hazy and then turned off. Valens bowed again, then stepped forward and set the disk on the first step of the dias.
"I am sorry that this happened, but my loyalty to the Emperor takes precedence and I was forced to act thusly," said Valens. He turned to his men. "Lieutenant, form up and return to the ship."
"Yes sir," came the muffled reply from one of the lead stormtroopers. All of them quickly formed into ranks and marched in orderly rows out of the audiance room.
Valens stepped up next to Thrawn and ignored the body at his feet. Two stormtroopers stepped up to it and picked it up, and unceremoniouosly dragged the body by its feet following the column of troopers. When the doors finally closed behind them Valens spoke.
"And Empress I can vouch for the Admiral Thrawn here, that he was in no way responsible for these alegations on Admiral Alabar's part. I formally beg your pardon." he bowed.
"Sir, we've been disabled by ion-cannon fire. We've detected no damage, but there is a field up preventing us from heading into hyperspace," said the officer of the watch.
Khan sat misreably in his command chair. "Ask them to please lower the shield now. Its all over isn't it?"
"I am not sure sir, I will find out immediately."
Nightshade raised an eyebrow at the latest action, then chuckled. "It seems, that unity has been preserved after all, Lucian. Truly, you see the folly of treachery before your eyes, and the result. By the way, Major. I would recommend that the family of this...trash be made an example of. You understand, of course?"
"But of course your majesty. I will report immediately to the Emperor upon my return to Thrashia. Major Valens bowed. Thrawn bowed as well. Both men turned and left the audiance room.
Thrawn looked at Valens as the two walked back to the transport. "That was quite the action Major," he said. His eyes bore into Valens. Valens didn't flinch.
"I did my duty sir, nothing more." The two boarded their transport and soon after it lifted off. They dropped off Thrawn in his own ship, then Valens returned to the Imaculate.
When he reached the bridge he turned to Captain Fredrick. "I am taking current command now. Make way to the edge of the inhibiter field." He turned to the comms. "Ask for clearnance to continue on."
Both Thrawn's SD and Valens's made the approach and stopped next to the Star Destroyer that was already sitting there. Valens smirked at the flagship of Admiral Khan. "Foolish..." he said to himself when he saw that power to the SD was slowly being returned after many shots of ion energy.
Valens's communications offcer spoke into his headset. "This is Star Destroyer Imaculate, requesting diactivation of the shield generator."
"Diactivation proceeding, farewell Imaculate," said the responding voice.
The shield fell in front of the SD, and Valens sent one more transmission to Curoscant. "Will duty and honor to the Galaxy, farewell to jewel of the Empire. AND LONG LIVE THE EMPIRE!"
The two SDs launched into hyperspace.
Admiral Khan's Star Destroyer was finally able to power up and get into hyperspace. "And good riddance," he thought when they got into hyperspace. The Star Destroyer blasted away from Curoscant.
"And now....what to do about that messenger," said Khan aloud to himself.
Aelikes then turned to the new empress, "well then, now that the issue is over, perhapse we can continue our conversation away from other preying eyes. My master would soooo like to speak with you about.... the war..."
