Military:
It is hard to find facts about the military forces at that period. Each vassal controlled a number of Samurai. I guess the army would be something like 100000 to 350000 samurai. Remember, there are a few firearms, but I'm working on that ;)

Interesting Notes:
Only contact with the outside world is via the Dutch at Decima, Nagasaki. But I'm also working on that!
Japan had very bad experiences with foreign influence. They purely allow the Dutch to come to Japan because they just want to trade, no religious bussines or landgrabbing (unless you want to piss the guts outta the Shogun, which is very dangerous :D ).

Japan has up too now refused to let any foreigners into Japa proper and go with the flow of time. From stores heared from Dutch merchants Japanese military forces are hopelessly outdated.We wish to modernize our armed forces adn navy. In return trade may be opened between Japan and Engeland.

ooc. Can anuone give me a short history what has happened sofar?

OOC: *cough* Hmm...I rp as a daimyo during the Sengoku Jidai. That is some time before the Tokugawa Bakufu (Shogunate) and I am wondering what to do about this, seeing as I rp as Oda Nobunaga, a lord that Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate, was a vassal to. So I am wondering if perhaps you might wish to back-track a few hundred years to the time when there were tons of wars going on and not during a time of peace, which is what was happening during the time of the Tokugawa Shoguns, peace. That way I could get involved. What do you think? And I am currently studying and getting my Masters degree in Japanese history...basicly I'm obsessed with Japan...and I'd like to get in on this rp.

Note: At the time of Ieyasu's ascension to the seat of Shogun, he had over 8,000 ashigaru (common foot soldiers) armed with muskets, so there would be quite a few fire-arms, even after when Ieyasu had a large amount of them melted down and others stored away in Imperial armories.

Darn *kicks the ground* and I wanted to be rp'ing a huge war with samurai hacking each other to death. *sigh*

Ow well, if you want any more information on Japanese Armies during the period and the type of weapons they used, and what happened when they came in contact with 'Outsiders' and foreigners then I will happy to provide the information.

Alright, I can start something on the Sengoku Jidai period soon enough, maybe 2moro. I am kinda tired and I have some breaks between classes where I can spend an hour or two to type up a good introduction to an rp. I will contact you once I get it done. And just TG me for any info you need.

We have heared about your nation and it's feats from Dutch mercants. As Japan has been closed for foreigners and most foreign technology, we are far behind. I, the Shogun of Japan, believes it is important to modernize Japan and especially it's armed forces. Could you be so kind to send help to train Japan's forces in a modern way? We would be greatful if you could also send equipment, or plans for uns etc. to arm Japan's forces.

If you are unable to do such a thing, could you name a country which could help Japan?

Several months go by where the Japanese recieve no reply. Than, as aumtumn begins, the new Japanese squadron of the Royal navy sails into Edo(Tokyo) Bay. The massive ship of the line Antelope, and the frigates Actaeon, Danae, and Southampton and several transport vessels. A boat is launched from the Antelope, and several British naval officers step ashore, accompaied by a detatchment of red coated marines.

Also in brief overview Austria and France are currently fighting in some of the Italian states, while Sweden and the Dutch are fighting the Spainish in the sea after firing the port of Cadiz.
Also Prussia has decided to invade Austria.
I have sent an army to Poland where it is expected fighting will start soon.
