The Helghan Empire

Part One
Introduction
The Helghan Empire's Military is a large, well-trained army. The Helghast Military began twenty days after Scolar Visari's - Supreme Leader of The Helghan Empire - rise to power in Helghan, as their first leader. It was started during the Rearmament of Helghan after it's military was stripped away while The Helghan Empire just started to begin as a nation on Earth. The Rearmament of Helghan was massive and perfect to create an vast army for The Helghan Empire. Twelve days after the begginning of the rearming process, General Lente - Supreme Leader of The Helghan Army - was appointed the Commander of the Helghast military.
The Helghast Soldier
Resilient, well trained and well armed, the Helghast Soldier is a formidable opponent - their genetic make up means that Helghan offspring generally grow to be larger than average size. Growing into a predominately militaristic society, conformity and uniformity are expected of all subjects. Such is the lack of oppurtunity on Helghan that most young Helghast sign up of are conscripted in the armed forces where they recieve intensive teamwork and weapons training. Resulting in an army of considerable size and resource.
Helghast Military Units
Light Soldier
Fastest of all Helghast soldiers, these lightly armed and equipped "shock troops" move rapidly around and through enemy concentrations to attack their opponents flanks or engage head-on. Using the Helghast StA-52 Light Assault Rifle, the goal of everyone of these soldiers is to close range with the enemy, allowing them to bring the devastating shotgun (of the Light Assault Rifle) to bear.
Base Soldier
Typically armed with light to middle wieght weapons, these regular soldiers form the core, and backbone, of the Helghast Army and are used en masse in both assault and defensive encounters.
Elite
More powerful than the mainstream Helghast soldiers, Helghast Elites are better protected, better armed and better trained than their peers. Elites are used to bolster attacks and defend key positions, where their StA-3 SAW Light Machine Gun and cover makes them a dangerous and valuable part of the Helghast military.
IFO Bounty Hunter
On extremely rare occasions the Helghan military have been kown to hire lethal talents of IFO Bounty Hunters. These trained killers work in tandem with a squad of Helghast soldiers to flush out and eliminate any particularly stubborn pockets of resistance. Bounty Hunters are fast and pack a lot of armour, but what makes these soldiers of fortunate particularly deadly is the laser target designator built into their helment: this device enables the Bounty Hunter to precisely mark an area for artillery bombardment just by looking at it. If you see the distinctive four-pronged helment look in your direction, don't bother running: you're already dead.
Bodygaurd
Defending only the most important positions and senior officers, Bodygaurds are even more dangerous than the Elite Soldiers. Heavily armed and protected, Bodygaurds invariably fight to the death to defend their objective.
Sentry Bot
Sentry Bots are automated weapon platforms. Lightly armoured amd equipped with two machineguns, Sentry Bots are used to patrol key installations where their firepower and ability to hover supply a highly effective defence against enemies.
Military Conscription and Obligation
During the rearmament, there was a conscription for Helghast men to sign up to make the military work. A month after, Visari and Lente agreed to make a conscription only for newborn males. It stated that once male children are born, they are to be tested to state their future body constitution. The tests included: physical structure, brain analysis, and weight. If all tests ran a 90% or higher, that child would have a strong consitution and will automatically be sent to the military, regardless of the paren't choice, at certain age. Children with a medium or weak structure would be denied a conscription and be sent to work in factories, farms, or other major industries. However, the children, denied conscription, could still sign up for the military. But the military obligation only allows the male sex to join, so females are automatically denied.
Because people are conscripted to the military, it does not state wich branch they should join. This means that the parent's and, or, the child can agree to which branch they should join. But this must be notified to the Military, via transmission, by age 8.
The conscription helped the military, every year, an average of 60.2 strong, healthy Helghast teenagers are sent to Army and Air Force. Conscription is also backed by Volunteers. Every year, averages of 30.7 Helghast volunteer to serve in the military.
Scolar Visari's Beliefs and Production
Scolar Visari - Supreme Leader of The Helghan Empire - began the Rearmament of Helghan, he wanted to create a powerful, massive, and well-trained army. With the conscription in place, the military is roughly 0.7 percent the growing population of Helghan.
Visari's goals for military production are succesfull in many ways, so Helghast Armies grew...in size...training...moral...and leadership.
His Fascist beliefs were also supported when Defence is the Helghast Government's priority for Helghan. With the government funding the military, training was ruthless and brutal. Brutality was the key word for Helghast training. Helghan always supported brutal training, enough to make worse than a battlefield (but fighting safely and unharmed). With the ruthless training installed, Visari strongly thought that when Helghast soldiers are deployed into battle, the fighting would be no different than in training camps.
And Visari always chose carefully in who would lead Helghast Armies, and the entire Military itself. He would choose those who had more military knowledge, more intellect and literacy, better personalities, and better mental and physical health. He could not bare seeing Generals and Staff Commanders who poorly lead soldiers into battle, it would not only give a better advantage for enemy soldiers and propaganda, but also it will demoralize Helghasts and make them fight more ineffectively. So as he chose, the leaders of Helghast Armies were always strong-minded leaders and willing to send troops into battle at an cost.
Diaries and Journal Entries
This segment is here to provide journal entries of Helghast troops - that contributed entries - in their lives in the Helghast military.

Journal Entry #71
Earth Date: August 1
As I right this, I am lying in a hospital bed near the training grounds. My rightfoot had an IvP-18 [Machine Pistol] bullet inside it. It's gone now. One of my comrades accidently misfired his Machine Pistol at my foot during firing practice. I vividly remember he was walking passed me as I fired my Assault Rifle at a target, his hand, that held the gun, swung (like arms and hands regularly do when walking) and he accidently pulled the trigger.
I told he was repreminded for it and he was to recieve a beating for misfiring at a fellow soldiers. But he didn't recieve one because he has only been here for three weeks, and this has been his first offense. But instead, he would not recieve dinner for the day he shot me, and the next day he was not allowed to have breakfast. Yet that seemed three days ago, doesn't matter now.
At least I miss training. My friends in my camps admitted that they were jealous of me when they visited me minutes before I began writing. In a few hours, the soldier (who shot me) has arranged to visit me while I recover. Here I finish writing, and now I shall go to sleep...

Private Jinn Mesgura, of the 1st Light Tank Brigade of The Helghast 5th Army:
Earth Date: January 2
Dear Diary,
The Light Tank squad, I am assigned to, encountered a tough course in the open plains. As we manuevered our tank across the course, we were caught in a non-lethal explosion of mines over and over as we restarted. The goal was to get across the course as fast as we could, and getting less damage. But there were a few mines laid before us, barbed wire and tank blocks. It sounds easy to non-Helghasts, but those harmless mines are a goddamn bitch. They are scattered strategically across the course and we encounted each one every time we restarted. Also to mention that our radar was switched off to test our reflexes against mines.
In the end, we were given grade 10%. Tommorrow, we were told that we will be starting easier courses and work our way up to that same course. I was sorta mad because most of these courses were ones I had taken already...

I'm deeply exausted today - but I've at least enough energy to write this entry before I probably pass out on my cot. We here's the deal: a small squad of us had to deal with crawling through 50 feet of barbed wire! It was tough. The barbed wire was really low, bit lower than the height of us laying on our chests.
The Elite said all of us had to get out of the other side less than three minutes. The Elite shouted for us to start, and we started. I 'member the ground all muddy and damp. I 'member getting cuts on my knuckles and my cheek. When we finished, time was 6 minutes, 32 seconds. We had to do it again and again. We made little progress by finishing just 20 seconds less, or adding another 30 seconds.
When it reached evening, we still made no more less than three minutes. So we're sent to our barracks with no dinner, but at least our wounds were tend to. We have to do it again early morning, and the entire day until we get it right.

Today, I do not know what is. My men have been stuck in this hellole you call a trench for weeks now. We're tired, and we're losing supplies. Thankfully, the Helghast supply lines I have noticed this, and turned their attention to us for the time being. I don't know when this war will end, I don't care when it WILL end. I just wanna get out of this trench. It's not so bad 'cause maintenence always checks the place, but their running low on supplies and are forced to check this place once a week.
Not only that, there is no indoor shelter because of the small space, so we need to sleep out here in the dirt. This morning, I found a huge inscect lying on my chest, as I woke up. Scared the shit out of me.
Great, a rain drop just fell on one of my previous entries...looks like we're sleeping in the mud tonight...
Military Propaganda
The Helghast military will frequently use propaganda in populated areas during wartime. Helghast propaganda - like all other propaganda - is to demoralize enemy soldiers, leaders, and civilians. But Helghast propaganda is more sophisticated than just posters and art.
The messages being put up are true facts to Helghan. Like one popular Helghast poster says the national motto, "We Will Spare No One!", it's a true fact that Helghasts would rather kill than take prisoners. The poster shows an orange and black colored Heghast Base Soldier wielding the StA-52 Light Assault Rifle, and with an orange and black outlined Helghast insignia at the top left corner.
Helghasts also put up loudspeakers in many areas, that play the same voice message. One plays the symbolic The Helghast Dream speech Scolar Visari gave during the Call To Arms in his voice - or a shortened version of the speech. And one message displays what has happened and what Helghast troops will do.
Here's the message says
The invasion of your nation has begun. Today the indomitable Helghast army marches against you, trampling your cities, obliterating your society, and forever silencing you, your oppressors. We seek no truce. We offer no mercy. To resist is hopeless. Surrender or be destroyed.
But even though most are based on truth, The Helghan Empire would exaggerate their messages like another popular poster, "Our Victory Is Imminent". It shows multiple Helghast Base Soldiers and one bigger soldier. So The Helghan Empire would rather put that poster up when they have the upper hand in battle.
But a more controversial propaganda is a new book written by Scolar Visari - The Supreme Leader of The Helghan Empire - , General Lente - The Supreme Leader of The Helghan Army - and many Helghast philosophers and historists. The book is called Helghast: The Superior Race. The book was written to explain how much more better the Helghasts are than the Human race. Rather than just saying "Helghasts are the superior race", the authors of this book use facts and reality than opinions and fantasy. The book is distributed by Helghan to it's citizens and occupied cities and territory to demoralize soldiers more than ever.
Demoralization Through Brutality
Helghast soldiers use propaganda to demoralize enemies, but sometimes demoralization doesn't need posters and loudspeakers. The Helghan Empire believe strongly that to reach out and strike fear into enemy soldiers is through sheer brutality. Helghan is true to their word with violent scenes and the national motto.
The Helghast soldiers like to use torture and execution - as an example - toward enemy prisoners and then spread the word - especially when enemy high ranking officers are killed.
It is known that if enemy soldiers know about the brutality, they would fear becoming a prisoner of war more than dieing on the battlefied. Driving them to fight to the death - or commit suicide - than surrender. We know that this could happen, so enemies fighting to the death could cause some Helghast casualties, but it goes to show how brutal Helghasts can really get. Enemy attemps to fight to the death - avoiding harsh treatment as a prisoner - benefits the Helghasts and cause fear, demoralization, and devitalization among the resistance.
The Helghan Army
The Army of Helghan is massively large, brutal, violent, and ruthless force. This branch of military is most chosen by those being conscripted and volunteering Helghasts. The soldiers are a valiant fighting force, trained and taught with the best training in the entire planet of Helghan. Armored war machines are even more violent than the soldiers. They are commandeered by soldiers, but when faced to face with armor, like the Heavy Tank, they will cause fear and havoc amony enemy soldiers. The age people are to join the Army is carefully thought out so during their lives of training, it can ensure that they are physically powerful, especially dealing with pain, on the battlefield, and mentally immune to enemy propaganda, extremely loyal, and survive the horrors and reality of war. The soldiers of the Army are widely feared for their brutality, appearence, intelligence, and strategic power.
The Helghan Air Force
The Helghan Air Force is not as large as the Army, but they make up for in brutality and strategic power. The primary, and probably only, aerial armor is the Helghast Jet Bike - despite the Dropship's appearence in the Air Force. The Jet Bike is fast and agile, making it the perfect opponent in aerial combat. The pilots who begin training start one year before soldiers begin training in the Army. This is because of how long it takes to truly maneuver a jet Bike, but also to make a strong, or even stronger comparisons, to that, of The Helghan Army.
The Helghan Gaurd
The Helghan Gaurd is - more or less - a subdivision of The Helghan Army, and made up of Helghast Bodygaurds. The Guard is a branch of the Military, but a restricted branch - meaning no one can sign up for it. The Gaurd of Helghan is only available for soldiers who are nominated by the Military Hierarchy. And the way to be nominated is qualified for only soldiers, of the Army, who show 130% in: Mental and Physical Strength, Intelligence, Strategic Power and Loyalty. The only soldier ever to turn the offer down was Colonel Gregor Hahka - of the Helghast 60th Infantry Regiment. The Guard doesn't require much training because 81% of the training comes from the Army, Helghast Bodygaurds need to master operations like escorting and gaurding. To ensure that they become the great Protectorates of the Helghast leadership.
The Helghan Planetary Defence
Because Helghan is a planet, it needs a planetary defence. That's where this branch of Military comes in. They represent the second most important defence of Helghast survival, during wartime. The Planetary Defence commands the Strategic Defence Platforms that orbit around Helghan's atmosphere. Second to that, the Helghast Planet Defence forces are officers and security forces - including gunners - aboard the Attack Ships. The ruthless space training ensures, of course, that Helghan is always protected, and can be counted on, during any planetary invasions.
