Independence!
With the collapse of the United States government in Washington D.C. the United States of America ceased to exist, all 50 states declaring independence.
One, in particular, was the first. And that was California. Already large and powerful enough to be an independent nation, California jumped at the chance to seceede from the union, and formed the Independent Republic of California.
The nation was already preparing for war, but not because of defense... no. It was invasion. Invasion of other independent states to incorporate them into the proposed Californian empire.'

Karl Gustav was thinking about the situation around the world. Finally, after years of struggle, new countries had emerged. Warat Endor istelf was fighting a war in South America. Suddenly his Foreign Affairs Advisor burst through the door.
"Sire, California has declared itself indepandant. What shall we do?"
"We wait, we wait untill we have more information."
"Yes sire..."
Dr Edwards, currently at a summit in Redmofo (he was a busy man with the conference in Redmofo and the South American war against Columbia and Venezuela, but still had time to watch important government issues), was handed the documents about the new country. Hmm,could be a potential allyhe though to himself. I'll observe this situation closely

Pax Pacis who is at war with Venezuela and Columbia pondered about this situation. We could claim land in North America and fend off California. We will send troops up from Trinidad and Tobago up to Puerto Rico, and Cuba. We will take them over and take the former Eastern USA. California would not get the whole of the ex-USA.

OOC: Just remember (this goes for both of you) this is a formidable task as the US may be split buit that's a tall order to take it all. You'll have to go a few small states at a time ;)

OOC: Before I start invading states, I have a question. How can I come up with a nice little military with about 450 million people? I mean, I don't want to look like I'm godmodding or anything, it's just I'm not sure how to do this...

OOC: A good place to start would be to buy some equipent from storefronts or just incorporate ex-American equipment (M16s, FB-111As, that sort of thing but maybe modified to a higher standard) which would be reasonable in your defense budget - try and up this every year until you've equipped around the maximum amount of soldiers. If you want a miliitary on par with the US, try my figures ($200K per soldier per year, which if you leave around $100M for new equipment from your budget is 1.25M soldiers, of which an amoiunt from 4 to 10 should be logistics depending on department)
