Processing the Dictator (Torontia Spinoff Thread: Closed)
Near McKagan City Airspace, 1300 Local Time
A nondescript Gulfstream V private jet began its approach to the McKagan capitol city. On board were six HCIA agents and Special Forces Colonel Jack Whittier, veteran of the Monitgnac Civil War. They were ostensibly here to work with MCID on a joint Halberdgardian-McKagan "intelligence wargame," but were actually here to participate in the interrogation and prosecution of Colonel Vader Tanakis, former dictator of Torontia. All were armed with one silenced 9mm pistol and a .50AE Desert Eagle.
The pilot looked down at a scrap of paper taped to the console bank at the special flight designation that was supposed to alert the McKagan liasion to their presence and identity, then opened the radio channel for the international airport's control tower.
"Control, this is flight VHF-601, requesting permission to land, over."
The airspace around Walker AFB had suddenly became much more active. Only a few hours earlier had Colonel Vader Tanakis, possibly the most wanted man in the world at the late hour, had been covertly flown in under the protection of a new Ku-25 wing.
Now the HCIA was flying in. They always liked a good interrogation. But the MCID was going to try to keep things under control. Considering that Tanakis felt safe in McKagan City, he would be allowed to keep that feeling until the politicians, who were scattered in various diplomatic trips around the world, could come to a conclusion on exactly which card to play next.
"Cleared for landing. Welcome to McKagan City."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Colonel Tanakis had been secured. Deep underneath Walker AFB, in MCID's second largest office complex, he had been escorted into a small suite for holding, questioning, and security checks. The area was secure, and a nice location to hold him while the select few who knew Tanakis was in McKagan could come to talk meet with the dictator-en-exile.

"Thanks, Control. VHF-601 out."
Just minutes later, the Gulfstream had taxiied to a small private gate, and Whittier and the other HCIA agents deplaned while McKagan ground crew attended to the aircraft.
Whittier walked out first, appearing rather stiff and formal in his crisp fatigues, the .50AE at his hip. He had to resist the urge to pat the 9mm in an inside pocket.
The HCIA agents, meanwhile, appeared much more like government agents. Dressed in stylish, but not overly visible, business attire and dark reflective sunglasses, they nevertheless smacked of Secret Service agents or some type of government agent trying to appear normal. Their .50AEs were also at their hips, somewhat hidden by their sport jackets, with their 9mms similarly hidden in an inside pocket of their jackets.
Whittier looked around until he spotted what appeared to be an entrance to the lower sections of Walker AFB, and walked towards it.
Colonel Jack Farve, who commanded the bases CODEX and Marine contingents, watched from the hidden viewport above the door. The door to the underground levels the agents were headed towards was generally used for this purpose. Getting foreign intelligence agents inside the base and making the base look much more lively than it actually is. The other, more official passageways were less... appealing? Before the HCIA agents could even make it halfway to the door, however, Farve had decided it was time he let them know the base wasn't abandoned. Quickly he got on his radio and talked to the Security Center, burried deep inside the large building he was standing in. Within moments 4 infantrymen had been rushed out the door. Carring the normal shortened version of the KT-4 carbine, they approached the group of HCIA agents.
"The Colonel wants to talk to you before you move on to interrogation with Tanakis. Right this way." The lead soldier said before turning and walking back through the large, thick doors. Inside the doorway they walked down several flights of steps. After going down for several feet they walked into a LARGE, open area. "This is the lobby. Colonel Farve will be in the conference room over there." He pointed while walking away from the group of agents.

Whittier and the agents followed the grunts down the corridor, and stopped at the door to the conference room before turning to the infantryman who'd pointed the conference room out.
"Thank you, soldier," Whittier said, nodding, before turning and opening the door to the conference room.
At the head of the table sat an officer, presumably Colonel Farve.
"Colonel Farve, I take it? I'm Colonel Jack Whittier, Halberdgardian Special Forces. The gentlemen behind me are from the HCIA. I understand you've got a mutual friend of ours on tap?"
"Approximately 8 hours ago Colonel Vader Tanakis sent out an open band satellite transmission to the international community. He stated he wished to turn himself in, but in return the nations occupying Torontia must leave. We suspect that he didn't think many foreign nations would be willing to touch him, but for the last few months we've been trying to usher him out of that nation anyway. So after a 6 hour flight, Colonel Tanakis landed on the same runway your plane is being escorted down as we speak. He has been processed, given food, and a nice suite in the bottom of this compound. He has requested to talk to Tony Johnson, but as we both know Mr. President has touched down in Halberdgardia only a few minutes ago. That isn't possible. Perhaps he would take meeting with the famed HCIA in the same regard?"
Farve grinned and motioned for the agents to follow him out the door. After walking the length of the downward sloping halfway, making a turn and walking down an small flight of steps, they arrived at an elevator. Walking in, Farve held the door to wait for the HCIA to enter. Pressing the correct button, the elevator began it's long decent into the depths of the Walker Mountain Complex.
After the elevator stopped it's long decent Farve took the agents through a maze of both left and right turns, past identical looking doors and the occasional office area or help/security desk, the finally got to one on the end of a long hallway. Inserting his security card, he opened the door and walked into the suite Tanakis was occupying.

"Thank you, Colonel," Whittier said, stopping at the door. He turned to face Farve and said, "Before we enter, though, I have something I want to talk to you about. Is there a secure room we can discuss certain matters in?"
"Oh yes, this compound is FULL of secret rooms. Right this way."
He, once again, motioned down the hall. Walking on this level for just a moment he entered a small waiting room like area. Farve didn't know if Whittier wanted the other agents in on the conversation, so he just went in first and would like his counterpart worry about that.

After entering the room, leaving the HCIA agents outside, Whittier brought out a manila folder, and laid it on a table in front of him. From the folder he removed five pieces of glossy photo paper, on which were printed high-resolution photos.
"The HCIA boys already know about this, so they're happier outside than in.
"My superiors briefed me on a possible McKagan plan for Tanakis, whereby he would use his contacts to get in touch with Global Jihad, insert them in the country, wreak havoc and drive the current 'peacekeepers' out, and then prosecute Tanakis on supporting terrorism, citing betrayal of your trust while in exile, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Well, the HCIA has been doing some work to that extent, and they came up with something they think might help in this so-called 'Liberation of Torontia.'
"These five pieces of paper are satellite imagery of areas near Seattle; specifically, ports. And not just any ports, either. No, Colonel, these are the ports that Torontian warships used as safe harbor. And as you can clearly see from these images, the warships are still there. Intelligence suggests that the current provisional government is either putting them on standby, in storage, or is getting ready to scrap them. If Tanakis' 'freedom fighters' could liberate them, they'd have some pretty serious firepower to use against the provisional government.
"There are three main warship groups near Seattle that we want to focus on. The first is at the port of Everett, north of Seattle. This image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/neotheone175/NationStates/Modern%20Tech/Satellite%20Imagery/Tanakis/The%20Liberation%20of%20Torontia/EverettWarshipsinRelationtoSeattle.jpg) shows Everett in relation to Seattle; it's not too far. At that port alone, there are five warships. As you can see in this photo (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/neotheone175/NationStates/Modern%20Tech/Satellite%20Imagery/Tanakis/The%20Liberation%20of%20Torontia/EverettPortandWarships.jpg) from about twenty-eight hundred feet up, you've got a Nimitz on the right, two Perry-class frigates at bottom left and right, an Arleigh Burke-class at top left, and a Spruance-class destroyer at top right. Not a bad haul.
"Secondly, this image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/neotheone175/NationStates/Modern%20Tech/Satellite%20Imagery/Tanakis/The%20Liberation%20of%20Torontia/LoneDestroyeratPort.jpg) shows a lone, old Forrest Sherman-class destroyer at port near Turner Point at Bremerton, also relatively close to Seattle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/neotheone175/NationStates/Modern%20Tech/Satellite%20Imagery/Tanakis/The%20Liberation%20of%20Torontia/BremertoninRelationtoSeattle.jpg).
"But by far the greatest prize is the fleet near the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, just south of Bremerton. This image (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/neotheone175/NationStates/Modern%20Tech/Satellite%20Imagery/Tanakis/The%20Liberation%20of%20Torontia/CarriersandSubmarinesatPort.jpg) allowed us to definitively identify the vessels of the fleet at Bremerton, which appear to be mothballed. At left, you have an immensely valuable stash of vessels, with four carriers, two battleships, and countless escorts. Farther to the right, at center, you have two destroyers and what appears to be one more carrier, along with a massive group of assorted submarines, nineteen at last count. At far right, you have what appears to be one more battleship and an additional ten assorted submarines.
"Now that you have this intel, here's what the HCIA cooked up. Tanakis inserts his insurgent force by whatever means necessary into Seattle. With conflict going on between Amestria and Red Tidean forces, the provisional government will probably be more concerned with the fighting than this mothball fleet. So, the insurgents plan a coordinated strike at both Bremerton and Everett, overwhelm the likely understaffed skeleton security force at both sites, hijack the ships, and pull them out to the open seas with skeleton crews. Even with hundreds of insurgents, we'll still be short, so perhaps Tanakis can rally support among former Torontian military support for this operation.
"Now you're probably worried about what happens if he actually regains all these vessels. Well, not to fear. With the superior technology of both our nations' fleets, we should be able to defeat them handily in any sort of conflict. However, as an added precaution, we'd like to send in operatives to scuttle the submarines ahead of time. We'd forge work orders from the provisional government to destroy the subs, pose as Amestrians, and then sink the vessels. Then when the insurgent attack comes, they've got only a surface fleet, which is comparatively easier to sink than submarines.
"I realize that was a lot, so I'll sit back and let you think. Your thoughts, Colonel?"
Colonel Farve was outstanded. Here, during all the planning the MCID and CODEX had put in on this operation, dubbed End of Days, they had missed one of the most potent weapons they could take. Still though, there was problems.
Farve took a deep breath.
"The major problem I can see is the sheer fact that there are naval forces of all the factions off the coast. If we pull those things out of port, they'll be blasted before the city can be leveled."
"Futhermore, it's not very productive. I can see us putting alot more work into getting aboard these vessels than we'll get use out of them. Nonetheless, I'm passing this info up the chain of command. It's not my call, but while we're at it, here's what we've been working on."
Farve took his office pack out and removed a folder.
"With nuclear devices, we've not got to get far. We've been looking into how to improve upon the Leafanistani made Hidden Weapons Platform. Our ordnance of choice is the 10 megaton thermonuclear bomb. What we do is take a regular 5 ton truck, which have became popular on the civlian market, and put an armored box in the upper part of the cargo hold. We get three suicidal Global Jihad members. One drives, two stay in the back of the truck. They drive up through Texas, from our offloading point. Then they drive through the deserts, avoiding Idaho. Then they head into Seattle. They go as far torwards the center of the city as they can. The second they are stopped, they detonate. It's a single attack. We already have the units offloaded from a cargo ship in the Gulf. After we do this, we could carry out any number of the plans you're working on, or do them first and then nuke the city."
"We'll emphasise, we are not looking for a clean Torontia. We are looking for an unoccupied Torontia. After this, we contract someone to use that Leafanistani bio-shit to clean it. After that, we move in and secure the mess the invaders have already made."

Whittier nodded. He knew that some parts of his plan were weak and depended perhaps too much on chance, but it was still worth a shot.
"The nuke plan sounds good to me. Still, it'd be great if the insurgents could nab some carriers and battleships, and maybe some escorts as well, blast their ports on the way out to deny them to the enemy, and then get out to open sea, if possible. From there, they've got mobile naval artillery and aircraft they can use to harass the provisional government and occupying powers at their leisure. I'd say we set the nuke off first, then make the attack on the ports a few days later or so. The enemy fleets and militaries will be pre-occupied with supplying aid to Seattle and the surrounding areas, and will be caught off-guard if some insurgents suddenly seize mothballed warships and start blasting their way out to the Pacific."
"Current reports is that Red Tide forces are engaging enemy forces in the area. Just recently one of our SSN's attacked a Red Tide sub in an effort to cause Yallak to stick around longer. Speaking of that, isn't that our main problem right now? How do we get this stolen naval fleet by the Yallak armada? I just thought though, what's the easiest way to get insurgents onto those ships? Y'know, Leafanistan makes those deisel submarines. Ultra quite. We could insert the insurgents navy-SEAL style inside the ports."
Halberdgardia
07-11-2005, 04:27
"A submarine insertion might prove problematic due to the sheer number of insurgents required to operate each vessel, particularly the carriers and battleships, which are arguably the most important vessels to seize. However, if your government can find a way around that particular hurtle, it sounds like an excellent idea.
"Regarding the Yallak armada, we could always have some former Torontian officials pose as provisional government officers taking the warships out to sea trials before re-activating them."
"True. I believe a single submarine is needed for a certain issue though. The best way to secure the vessels, in my opinion is by dropping off security forces at each vessel. While they set up machine gun cover sections at the docks, we rush 5 ton trucks along with random running men in to load aboard the vessels."
Farve was slightly nervous that all this planning would go to waste should the Yallak armada prove troublesome.
"That might work, but we'd be likely to be discovered. If we do it after a thermonuclear strike we could rush the vessels out and say they are simply trying to escape from the area and that the local government gave them permission, since the vessels shouldn't go to waste anyway."
Halberdgardia

"Wait a moment, Colonel, I believe I have a new concern with your plan for submarine insertion. I do know that the Leafanistani submarines are quite stealthy. However, should they be discovered--which I am concerned about, especially given the proximity of the Yallak armada--it will be difficult to explain. We do not wish to lose our cloak of plausible deniability, do we? If a McKagan submarine is discovered delivering terrorists to warships to hijack them, your government's plan of prosecuting Tanakis on the charge of supporting terrorism goes out the window."
"What about any of the number of Frozopian submarines we took over at the end of the war? They're of generic design, and had been imported to that nation from a now civil war-torn nation. It would be impossible to track the origins should it be discovered. From that, why do we even have to worry about that? We could plant a 100 megaton thermonuclear bomb aboard the thing. If they got about the submarine, we could sure deny SOMETHING to the enemy!"
Farve laughed.
Halberdgardia
07-11-2005, 05:01
"The Frozopian submarines would seem to solve that problem, yes," Whittier conceded. "While both your government and Leafanistan's were involved in the Frozopian conflict, so too were Red Tidean forces -- we could easily shift the blame onto them.
"But I believe that we should interrogate our mutual friend sometime soon, yes?"

Look, Hal and McKagan.
I like the ideas you are coming up with.
However Im not happy about you two using Tanakis to oust the other nations, only for you to move in. I have been double crossed SO MANY times in NS that I would like us to WORK TOGETHER!
Here is MY idea:
Up to the point where you betray Tanakis, we can keep. The GJ nuke attack on Seattle and the hijack of my navy.
However we work together as a team.
Hal and McKagan will help Tanakis take power again and I will PROMISE you that Torontia will be the ONLY nation I RP and that i will not IC be your enemy on nationstates anymore!
No more islamic terrorists attacking Hal or McKagan, no more Saharistan type nations, we become allies.
If you agree to this, I will drop the idea of Tanakis becoming a puppet of the Kraven Corporation.
Ill remian IC neutral in Kraven related threads.
Tanakis will still rule in a fascist way, the New Order will be restored as it was and Tanakis will look to conquer other NON-SWC nations or allied nations, as you have had your conquests of foriegn nations, it's only fair I get a slice of the cake.
Tanakis will also allow for McKagan and Halberdgardian military bases to be based in Torontia, you won't get any soverign colonies on in my nation, but you can have bases, free of any rent charge.
I could also RP Torontia to fight ALONGSIDE the SWC in any other conflict you have with other nations.
Think about it, a nation of just under 600 million people, Torontia is a big power, one with great potential if Tanakis gets back into power and rebuilds the military.
I hope you consider this offer, and I WILL KEEP MY PROMISE TO YOU.
The incentive for me is that I can keep RPing a fascist nation, one that is big.
If I had to make a new nation that was fascist, I would be back at square one, with a shitty small nation with only 5 million people and Torontia would have been a massive waste of my time.
I URGE YOU TO CONSIDER THIS!

[OOC: Torontia, if by the re-instated Torontia (post-"liberation") you're referring to the type of state you had prior to the collapse, including the items laid down by Tanakis in his secret communiques with Kil (and the requests of ours you agreed to), then I don't think I'd mind. So long as you don't do the Kraven puppet thing or go hard-core fascist, I don't think I'd have a problem helping you again. However, you'd have to recognize that in order to have somewhat normal relations with Halberdgardia, you'd have to show at least some support for our ideals of freedom, liberty, justice, etc., even if your government doesn't necessarily believe in them. ICly, we couldn't justify allying ourselves with a state that doesn't follow our ideals to some extent, especially after what Kil said in his inaugural address.]

OOC: Tanakis would have no idea with what you they were planning, but that is not my concern...
Just to remind you guys, the conflict in Torontia which has broken out is only about several hours old (the fleet battle just has not been RP'd yet). What you are cooking up will take weeks at the most, days at the least. By then the conflict might be over...

Yes I was refering to the New Order that existed under both Tanakis and Kaufman.
I have no qualms about dumping Kraven. When I joined the war effort against a nation he was invading, I got the full force of his enemies and he just sat there and NEVER came to my aid.
It was that war which destroyed the New Order, NOT my internal policies, which whilst caused international outrage, did not blow into war.
BTW, if my system is agreeable to you, it WAS fascist (a one party dictatorship what merged Corporate power with State power).
You say don't go 'hardcore' fascist, well you DON'T get hardcore fascism or 'fascist-lite'.
If your refering to Nazism (National Socialism) then I do NOT consider that fascism, that is it's own ideology.
In RL WW2, Japan and Italy were fascist and Germany was NAZI.

[OOC: Torontia, here's what my government would like you to do ICly in order for our friendly relations. Basically, we'd like for Tanakis to abide what you said in this secret communique to Kil (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=9864369&postcount=51). That means an apology to our government for your more recent propaganda against us, revocation of all the anti-homosexuality laws and giving homosexuals rights equal to those of all other citizens, and perhaps some sort of loosening of civil rights. How about letting the people have some freedom in their private lives, so long as it doesn't interfere (too much) with the government? If you can abide by this, you may get something more than just a non-aggression pact out of this. We'll respect your style of government so long as you don't do anything too inflammatory.

[OOC: We may not even need Global Jihad. We can just get Tanakis to organize and rally his NOCF fighters and former Torontian military officials still in the country -- I'm sure there are more than a few still lying low in the Seattle area.]

Hal.
Well as you know, just before the New Order collapsed, homosexuality was going to be legalised.
Partly due to international pressure, partly due to logic (killing 39 million men would damage th economy) and also Torontia needed any men it could get for it's former war effort against Yallak.
Torontia will REMAIN a ONE-PARTY state with the New Order being supreme.
Gays WILL have FULL equal status with hetrosexuals, provided they support the New Order.
But communists, anarchists, terrorists, criminals, drug dealers, prostitutes, 'human rights' activists etc... will still be oppressed and punished.
But no genocides, just 'labour camps' and 'reeducation camps', where they will work 12 hr, shifts as slaves and HAVE to read the writings of Tanakis and Kaufman to be 're-educated'.
