We, the Allied States of Vendil have manufactured a sniper rifle of the likes that has never been seen before. It is made of a plastic composite, making it 3 times stronger and more durable than steel but also only ten pounds. It has a pre-camoflauged body that can be altered to match it's enviorment, and it has a three foot barrel and a possible four inch flash and sound suppressor. It fires the match grade D2V,fin-stabalized,full metal jacket, rim discarding (DFSFMJRD)- .60 caliber round. It is a single shot bolt action rifle and has the ability to shoot accurately with the included DM-3 Susat scope at up to 3000 meters. It can put all of it's rounds consistantly into a target the size of a matchbox at 2000 feet, with only a small loss of consistancy at longer ranges. We are willing to begin exportation of our new rifle at the price of 5000$ standard currency (dollars) units per unit. We will also provide the trainers to put the rifles to acheive thier maximum capability to your nation as a token of goodwill. We are eager to do business with you.

what is the overall unit lengh?

ome major proble is the heat disipation. The reason no sucessiful modern gun has use total composite is not the strength, it's the heat disipation, the ability to be reisliant under the concussive forces exerted by the round leaving the barrel and the pressure. Now I can understand the material could curvive the pressure due to it's alleged strenght, but how do you intend to aviod the probles that many other composites have faced, the warping and melting caused by the heating of the barrel by the round. The only feasable materials today (including synthetics) that has been prooven reliable are ceramics and steel.

How do intend to rectify these challanges of the material?

I would recomend doing what modern lightweight wepon manufactures do, have everything execept the action and barel being plastic/composite.

We realize this sir, the BODY of the gun is made from a plastic/ semi-ceramic mixture, not the action or any of the operating springs. The action being a very small part of the overall weight factor and ther body and barrel being the largest part of the wieght problem, they're change into a plastic/ceramic composite would drastically reduce the weight. Also, the heat distribution problem has already been solved by several gun manufacturers. Several Steyr models and even the imfamous M82 Barrett rifle have a completely plastic barrel, since some plastics require much less material to keep the same strength as a metal it actually dissapated heat as well or better. To answer the next question: The unit is about 4 feet in length and is quite modular to allow the sniper freedom of movement. Thank you for well thought out and extemely to-the-point questions.

OOC:
So at 1/3 of the weight of the M82 (for which i still can't find any info on it havign a plasic barrel, feel free to post links to enlighten me) with no mention of any recoil control measures and firing a round that on first glance would generate even more recoil than .50BMG, you honestly expect this weapon to be able to be fired safely? never mind controlably...
