OOC: This is a Closed Secret IC RP/Documentation of Project Vitality. This thread will basicly give an overview of the project including what it is, how long it will take, how much it will cost, and also document the final outcomes of the Project. This thread will also be linked with the OOC Korgarein Technology Research thread.

Korgarein Fleet Command Officials,

7th Kore R&D has finally completed the plans for ‘Project Vitality’. Many of the sub-projects have already begun and we are now requesting Command’s orders to begin the full scale implementation of the project. Even though we have started on many of the basic elements of the project, it will take considerable time to carry it to its completion. We must start now if we are going to match the power our possible foes and have the abilities we need to defend ourselves and enforce our wills as needed. We believe that we have diverted and store sufficient funding in our foreign account within a group know as the ‘Republic’ to complete the majority of the larger sub-projects and the lower level projects can be easily completed with continued light funding over the next several years. We will await your orders before we continue but please hurry with your reply.

The members of 7th Kore Command have decided it is in the best interests of the Federal Empire of Korgarein and its people that we go ahead with ‘Project Vitality’. Please make the appropriate arrangements to begin as soon as possible. Section 12 has full authorization to use what ever resources necessary to complete the said project. 7th Kore Command will coordinate efforts with the Primary Korgarein Military to begin phases of Project Vitality as needed. We do however request an outline of the project and steady updates as to its status. We would also like you to give estimated costs for each stage of the project.

As you know, the Galaxy is dangerous place. This fact will never change, however, the one thing that does change is the fact that it becomes more dangerous as other nations grow and become even more powerful. Many of these nations are imperialistic and battles between nations are more frequent then in the Faction Wars centuries ago. We need to defend ourselves; we need to be able to project our own power when needed. Our current fleets of vessels are fine for now but many of them have been in service since the end of the Faction Wars and some even during or before. It is time for a change. 7th Kore R&D has been working on new technologies. Technologies that will greatly increase our chances for not only survival and defense but can allow us to stretch forth ‘our’ hand when needed. Section 12 is proposing a new series of vessels that will completely change the nature and structure of our military fleets. While we have already authorized this for 7th Kore Fleets, we would like to have a meeting to discuss replacing the fleets of the standard Korgarein Military as well. If you also desire a meeting, transmit the location of where you would like it to take place.

Grand Chancellery Complex, Zalintin City, One week later;

A meeting was about to take place. One that could greatly affect the future of the Korgarein Military. Everyone here knew that without ship upgrades Korgarein fleets could only maintain their effectiveness against possible threats for so long.

Two massive wooden doors inlayed with golden vines and braced with large metal panels swung open allowing Kore Marshal Hyvex Zemrin entered the room where the others were already waiting. The Kore Marshal was tall, his extremely pale flesh shown the veins blackened by the blood that flowed through them. His eyes were a grayish tone and glowed slightly in the light of the room. His short black hair covered only by his officers’ hat that was black and trimmed by crimson cording. His Uniform was solid black as well with a single row of silver buttons running down the breast of the jacket that extended down past his hips and was also trimmed in crimson. A dark leather belt clasped by a large silver buckle barring the skull and leaf emblem of the Federal Empire which was holding up his pants that were in turn tucked into his calf high boots.

He had been here many a times, to plead his cases to the Military High Command. The room was a large circular design with sequentially elevated seating around its parameter. The side opposite the entrance had a separate elevated desk with three seating positions. In those positions sat the three highest ranking Marshals in the Korgarien Military. Zemrin walked into the room and stood in the center of it within a circle also displaying the Korgarein Emblem subtly backlit by a soft red light. He then slightly stepping forward again to speak.

“My fellow Marshals, I am here today in order to present the Military High Command with a solution to a problem that grows ever closer. Our fleets are strong but that can only last for so long. There are many powers out there that could be considered threats to the Federal Empire if relations ever turned southward. I present a project that is several decades in the making. ‘Project Vitality’… Project Vitality will help to secure our place in the stars once again. It will revitalize our Fleets and their abilities to compete and even surpass those who would oppose us.”

The three Marshals began to whisper amongst themselves. Zemrin could not make out their worlds but could only see their gestures towards each other as they seemed to bicker. Finally after several minutes they all turned back towards him and the Head Marshal setting in the middle spoke.

“We agree that our fleets grow weaker with age and can only be considered comparable to the fleets of our possible foes for a while longer. But the cost of such a project is enormous; our budgets are great but not that great. How would you suggest we deal with this issue?”

Replying quickly, “We have already thought of this issue. Members of 7th Kore have been diverting 7th Kore funds into secret accounts within the boarders of allied nations. We have been planning for this event for some time now. After all it is our job to find the solution to problems the Federal Empire might face long before they arise. With the current funds we have, we will only require minimal amounts of annual funding from now until the project is complete.”

“We see. But replacing our fleets could dangerous. It could leave us open to attack!” replied the lead Marshal.

“7th Kore R&D agents have already come up with a plan to supplement our fleets while we replace the rest. We plan to refit the Warrenter Class destroyers. They are our oldest and most proven design which also makes them our most numerous ship type. We will bring these vessels in first and step up the use of some of our larger ships for patrol while we refit them for new service. Once these ships have been refitted they will be nearly as powerful as our larger cruisers and battle cruisers are now. They will be more then sufficient to supplement our fleets until the other ships can be replaced with the new designs. But then we are not going to bring in all of our fleets at once. We will of course take time and replace our ships one or two at a time.” Said Zemrin.

Taking a moment to share a glance with his fellow consuls the lead marshal spoke soft again and with extreme confidence in his men. “It seems that you already have it all worked out Marshal Zemrin.”

With a smug grin Zemrin spoke. “Perhaps not all of it Sir, after all nothing is completely worked out until it’s finished.”

“Quite true Marshal, quite true... Well then with that said we must agree with this proposal. ‘Project Vitality’ will be carried out as soon as possible. However we would like to receive a report outlining this project and possibly some funding statements as well.”

“Understood Marshals, I will have my agents send you a copy of our Project Outline as soon as it is finished…. Is there anything else Sirs?”

“No. You may go.”

“Thank you.”

Kore Marshal Hyvex Zemrin saluted his superiors and made his way back through the doors and out of the room. It was now time to set this Project in motion. So much had been done but so much was still needed before it could be completed and before he could sleep better.

Project Vitality: Outline/Overview

Project Vitality is a multi-stage project designed to further develop technologies and systems such as weapons, sensors, FTL travel, shielding, self repair, as well as many others. Project Vitality also includes construction sub-projects such as new shipyards designed to quickly recycle the basic elements and components from current ships and equipment for new uses. The ultimate goal of Project Vitality is to revitalize the capability of the Korgarein Federal Empire to better defend itself from the ever increasing military capabilities of other Galactic powers as well enable the Federal Empire to stretch forth its own military prowess when needed. This Project will take considerable time and parts of this project are already complete or close to completion.

Sub-Project 1: Project Funding

The first sub-project is less of a development or construction project and more of a logistics project. Project Vitality and its sub-projects will cost the Federal Empire extremely large amounts of funding. Sub-Project 1 is the procuring of these funds through trade and diversions of funds into secret accounts set aside only for this Project. This stage of Project Vitality will remain constant all the way up to the final completion of Project Vitalities’ ultimate goal.

Sub-Project 2: Developments

The second Sub-Project is the development of key systems and technology that will allow the Federal Empire to start and complete later Sub-Projects.

Sub-Project 3: Recycling/Construction Shipyards (Secret Locations)

The third Sub-Project is the construction of new shipyards that utilize the new technologies including Shipyard grade Matter Recycler Systems (MRS) in order to begin full scale Fleet Ship Recycling and Replacement.

Estimated Costs: 32 Trillion USD

Sub-Project 4: Fleet Ship Recycling and Replacement Organization/Development

The forth sub-project of Project Vitality is for Fleet Command to decide the best manner for the final project to be completed without leaving the Federal Empire vulnerable to enemy forces before the Completion of Project Vitality. This will also be the time that finalizations of all Replacement ship designs for the Primary warship fleets will be done.

Sub-Project 5: Implementation of Sub-Projects 1-4

The fifth sub-project is the combination and implementation of all previous efforts in Project Vitality. This project will be made up of several stages. The completion of each stage will bring Project Vitality one step closer to its final goal. Once all stages of Sub-Project 5 are complete, Project Vitality will be complete. However, the true goal of this project will never be final. Due to the fact that other nations never stop growing, expanding, and research the Federal Empire will continue it with constant additions and upgrades as the technology becomes available.

Sub-Project 5; Stage 1:

Stage 1 will involve the recalling of designated Stage 1 vessels for Refitting. Once these ships have been recalled they will be refitted then placed back on duty for the defense of the Federal Empire while the final stages of Sub-Project 5 are completed.

Estimated Costs: 18 Trillion USD

Sub-Project 5; Stage 2:

Stage 2 will involve the recalling of designated Stage 2 vessels for elemental and component recycling. As these ships are being recycled the V-Series of vessels designed for the Replacement of current fleet ships will be being constructed.

Sub-Project 5; Stage 3:

During Stage 2, Stage 3 will begin the re-education of personnel in order to allow them to command and crew the new vessels being constructed.

Sub-Project 5; Stage 4:

As the Ships from Stage 2 are completed, the trained crews from Stage 3 will take their positions on the new ships and the ships with then replace other vessels on the duty so that those vessels can then be recalled for elemental and component recycling.

Sub-Project 5; Stage 5:

Stage 5 is the completion of primary fleet replacements and construction of replacement parts and materials for the new V-Series of vessels for later repairs.

Korgarein Fleet Command Officials,

Sirs, we have completed the redesign of the Warrenter MkII EP Cruiser. As soon as the Matter Recycling technology is complete we will begin construction of our new shipyards within the ‘Tempken Nebula’ near ‘Carodena’. That region of space should provide some masking of our actions from foreign sensors but most likely not all. Sensors will probably be able to detect large masses there but it should not be detailed enough to tell what the masses are or anything major about them. I have attached an overview of the Warrenter MkII to this message for review as well.

Warrenter MkII Class EP Cruiser

The Warrenter MkII Class EP Cruiser was origionally designated as a Destroyer under the old Korgarein ship classification system. In fact it was one of the first vessels to enter service with the Korgarein Fleet and has served its crews well up to current day. As such the Warrenter in its various forms is the most nummerous first generation vessel serving in the fleet. Considering its numbers and effectiveness to date, Fleet command has decided that retireing them from service now would leave a massive gap in Korgarein Defences that the new vessels could not fill quick enough. As such Fleet Command has decided to upgrade the legendary Warrenter Destroyers with all of the new technology used to create the new V-Series Next Generation Fleet Cruisers and reclassify them as EP Cruisers. They will lack the fire power of the Focused Pulsar Connons used as the main weapons on the V-Series however, the new Warrenters will be equiped with newly develped Nova cannons that while not as powerfull as the Pulsar weapon technology, will still be a great advancement from the origional Medium Gravimetric cannons used on the First Generation version. The other cannons will be replaced with the new Advanced PD/PO Cannons greatly adding to its officive and defencive capablilities. Following with new Korgarein ship design idealology, the conning tower has been replaced with an observation tower and the bridge has been moved to a command deck within the ship itself. A forward observations station has been added as well. These stations have no importance to the vessels primary opperations and are simply used for observation as the name indicates. The upgraded Warrenter MkIIs will not serve in Korgareins Primary fleets in any great numbers. After Korgarein fleets are fully operating V-Series ships the Warrenter MkII will be placed in reserve and only serve with Korgarein Local Planetary Militias and Police/Defence forces. At this time there are no plans to construct any new Warrenter ships but only upgrade the current ones in service.

Vigilant Class EP Cruiser

The Vigilant Class Escort Cruiser is a powerfull warship constructed from the newest materials and technology offered by the Korgarein Empire. The Vigilant Class will will be the eyes and ears of the Korgarein Empire. She is Considerably smaller and less armed then her larger brothern but still carries a devastating bite of her own. The Vigilant class will be used as primarily as escorts for larger vessels but will also serve heaviely as boarder patrol vessels. Her smaller size and lower cost of contruction and opperation will make the Vigilant a ship to be used in mass. Unlike other ships of the fleet a number of Vigilant class of Cruisers will also be opperated by Korgarein Marines giving them the added support they need without relying so heavily on the Korgarein Fleet. One major thing that reduces the cost of the Vigilant is the use of a MkI Cascade Drive rather then the newer MkII models. This doesn't effect over all performance but the MkI doesn't allow the Vigilant to form Cascade Wormholes to other ships of the fleet. Considering the fact that these ships normally accompany larger vessels they can use the network connection made by the lead vessel wether it be a WarCruiser or Command Cruiser. Unlike her larger brothern in the fleet the Vigilant class of vessels are strickly combat vessels and do not possess the advanced science and medical facilities. The absence of these facilities somewhat reduces the multi-role capacities of this vessel but then it was only designed for the Patrol/combat and fleet defence roles and in those roles it preforms wonderfully.

Vanguard Class WarCruiser

The Vanguard Class Patrol Cruiser is a powerfull warship constructed from the newest materials and technology offered by the Korgarein Empire. The Vanguard class will be both the Shield and the Lance of the Korgarein Empire and will make up the majority of her fleets. The power and presents of this type of ship is only serpassed by its larger counterpart of the Valor class. It's powerfull array of weapons will be a match for even the most powerfull of ships used by other nations.(The Red and yellow glowing orb torwards the rear middle of the vessel is the cascade vortex formed by the cascade drive.)

This ship design will replace all of the capital ships currently in use by the Korgarein Military. Venom Class Fighter

The Venom Class V-Fighter is the newest incarnation of the Korgarein Fighter. Like all new V-Series vessels the Venom Fighter personifies the new idealology of Quality over Quantity. Utilizing the newest and most powerfull Korgarein Technology, the Venom Fighter serpasses all expectations of its designers and Korgarein Military Command. This new breed of fighter combines all posible needs into one package. It serves as a space superiorty fighter/Interceptor and bomber as well as being extremely atmosphereic capable. The V-Fighter also has colapsable wings allowing for compact storage allowing a ship to carry larger numbers of these new fighters. With suttle upgrades it is expected to serve along side its Fleet ship brothern of similar design for generations to come.

Korgarein Fleet Command Officials,

We have discovered a rather large problem sir. We have relized that we lack a new Carrier design within the V-Series of ships. We have proposed a R-Series (Refit) varient of the Titan already in use. It is believed that it would be far cheaper to refit those vessels currently in use rather then develope and construct an entirely new vessel. Considering the cost of the current opperations we believe that this is our only choice. The largest problem with this is that it will push back our time table considerably. It would be best if we refit the Titans along side the Warrenters, which means the it will be that much longer before we begin construction of the V-Series vessels. I have enclosed a overview of the Titan MkII for your review.

One other thing sirs. While we would like to eventually replace all current fighter and Bomber designs with the Venom class V-Series Assault Fighter, we believe that it might be better at this time to refit some of our fighters as well. Perhaps the standard BowFighter and the Jackel. With some improvements they could be refited to fullfill the roles of many of the current designs and hold us over untill the Venom can be massproduced. This would of coarse save us considerable funds. My team will attempt to get an overview report ready for our next schedualed transmission.

Titan MkII Class Command Crusier/Carrier

The Titan MkII Class Command Crusier/Carrier is the refitted varient of the Titan class Fleet Carrier. During the developement of the V-Series of ships and fighters it was relized that there were no true carriers amoung them. Seeing that it would be extremely expensive to develope a new carrier of such size it was decided that the redevelopement of the Titan would be the best and most economic choice. The new Titan MkII has been refited with all the new systems present on the V-Series of ships. Its size and cost will continue to limit is use just as the origional Titan series. The new Advanced PD/PO Cannons (Point Defense/Point Offence) have however given the Titan MkII considerable more protective firepower then it's predocessor while retaining its offencive firepower. It is believed that the Titan MkII will serve with distinktion just as it's older brothern have in the past. The Titan MkII will serve primarily as Command Crusiers just like the Valor class of the V-Series.

We are begining the final stages and developement of the new Shipyards that we have deamed the Tempken Complex do to it construction in the Tempken Nebula. We should be ready to begin the construction phase very soon.

On a side note, we are continueing our tests of the V-Series Prototypes and have attached a holo-photo of the Vanguard class during simulated target practice.

The above picture shows a Vanguard class WarCruiser engaged in combat during a simulated target practice session. The vessel is being attacked by a number of vessels including large numbers of fighters mostly simulated tie fighters and capital ships including Imperial Star Destroyers. These were the vessels and fighters that we felt we would encounter the most and thought it would be best to test against them. She did quite well defending against all attacks and only recieving minimal to moderate structural damage. The multi-layer shielding was able to withstand the majority of fire. The picture displays both the Focused Pulsar Connons and Advanced PD/PO Cannons (Point Defense/Point Offence) fireing in both beam and pulse firing modes. The test was quite a seccess we believe however futher testing is required.

Korgarein Fleet Command Officials,

We are some ways into the Sub-Project 3 of Project Vitality. The new Shipyards are coming allong well. However, our costs have gone up some. The origional estimated cost of 32 trillion USD has grown higher to nearly 47 trillion USD. Fortunatly we have gotten some reasonable deals through our ties to the Federation Trade Union. Our fellow members in the FTU have been quite helpfull in selling us materials at fairly low prices, at least lower then we origionally esitmated. If it would not have been for this we believe the cost for this group of Shipyards would have considerably more. I have included in this transmission a mock up of what the base station and surrounding shipyards will look like. We have begun to recall some of the Warrenter class Destroyers to be upgraded at other shipyards.

On a side note; The department has decided that the while the Venom Class Fighters are considerably more effective then the current fighter and bomber designs utilized by the Federal Empire, they do not comply completely with our new standards of design. We are currently working on a nother design that would be more effective and not require the amount of specialized refits to the shipyards that eh Venom Fighters currently need. The new design will use the same weapons that are standard on the V-Series of Vessels as a Secondary Weapons array known as Advanced PD/PO Cannons (Point Defense/Point Offence). This design will make an extremely effective Superiority fighter capable of engageing multiple enemy contacts simaltaniously as well as allow it to target larger vessels with more then just heavy missiles and Torpedoes. Once we complete our design we will submitt it to you for review.

The above picture is a CGI mock up of the 'Tempken ShipYards' located within the 'Tempken Nebula'. This stage of the project is expected to take 50years (50 RL Days) and is currently in its 7th year of construction. Each set of Construction Docks within the Tempken Shipyards Complex will be located around a central Base Station which in turn will be equiped with a Cascade stage 2 Reactor and Worm hole generator allowing ships to be brought in, processed, then sent back to the lines more quickly.

It is my pleasure to inform you and others that Project Vitality is moving along quit well. We have just completed stages 1 and 3 or subproject 5 as well as subproject 3. We are now planning to move on with our reconstruction of the fleet which will be made more easily with the finishing of construction on the new shipyards. I hope to have a more detailed and even more exciting letter to be sent at a later date.
