Today the Hellenic Army announced a $2 trillion drachma project that will begin in 5 days. This is the biggest and costliest project the Hellenic Army has ever undertaken. The project is called “The Metaxas Line”. The Metaxas Line used to be defensive line in Northern Greece during WWII. It was constructed by the fascist dictator and one of the greatest military generals during that time, Ioannis Metaxas. Today both Emperor Nikolaos and Supreme General Atticus decided to rebuild this defensive line. “This is the greatest step the Army ever took to guarantee the safety of the Empire.” said Atticus at a press conference. This project will create 600,000 temporary jobs for construction and 100,000 permanent jobs to maintain it. 10,000 jobs of the construction will be given to people holding the Foreign Citizenship. These Foreign Citizenship jobs will be cheap labor and are the most dangerous ones.

The red line will be the Metaxas Wall that will be constructed. The blue lines are the already established Poseidon Coastal Defense (PCD). The only part of the PCD that needs completing is in the recently acquired Northern Bulgaria.

OOC: The line will continue until our border with Syria (Carthage Controlled) ends. Since both our nations have friendly relations. Thats also a good idea. I will RP a few thousand Elephanti workers applying for jobs to work on the walls in Turkey.

In light of our recent alliance, the Empire would like to donate $300M to the cause of this line. While it is pennies compared to the funds already invested, we hope that it will serve to some good use.

The construction on the Metaxas Line has begun. At a press conference this morning new information has been revealed about the Metaxas Line from the Emperor himself. It appears that this project has been in the development for 2 years now. With great planning the construction of the wall has begun in Albania, Northern Macedonia, Northern Bulgaria and Asia Minor at the same time. The total workforce on this project totals to 615,000 workers. Half of those workers where sent or are already in Asia Minor to work on the wall.

The workforce has been divided up this way.

Albania: 103,000 workers

Northern Macedonia: 102,000 workers

Northern Bulgaria: 105,000 workers

Asia Minor: 310,000 workers

In other news Greece has exchanged embassies with the Empire of Layarteb. To honor this alliance Layarteb donated $300 million to the Metaxas Line. Now we will go back to our scheduled programs.

The Technocratic Empire of Carthage is shocked that Greece would deem us to be a threat to their national security, and would go so far as to wall us in our land. We have never threatened Greece, and we have had nothing but amiable relations throughout both of our nations long histories. We are deeply, deeply hurt by you treating us as barbarians who deserve to be walled in. We shall not interfere with construction on your side of the border, but be wary; if a single worker of yours tries to build on the Carthaginian side of the border, or even wanders into our nation illegally, they will be shot on sight. Do not think that we will aid the construction of this wall, either. We will not cage ourselves in.

Don’t worry we won’t build on your side of the border. If a worker does wonder on your land then the fault is on your side for horrible border control. Kill a Greek and you have war. What exactly is the nature of the Metaxas Line? Is it just a solid wall?

OOC: It consists of a wall but it’s also contains military bases at key positions, artillery fields, Anti-Aircraft sites, etc... This kind of information is secret IC.

Construction of the Metaxas Line continues on. At a press conference this after noon the Hellenic Army announced the parts of the Metaxas Line in Albania, Northern Macedonia and half way through Northern Bulgaria have been completed and are fully operational.

The Hellenic Army is now focusing on finishing the wall in Asia Minor where mostly the threats of rebels and foreign powers are.
