Official Statement of the Prime-Executive Leadership
Federal Central Government
Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia

Effective immediately, I am giving the order to recall the Pacitalian diplomatic envoy to the Incorporated States of Sarzonia, as well as cease all economic and military ties to that rogue state. We are unimpressed and deeply disgusted by the belligerent and destructionist diplomatic policies of Sarzonia towards us, towards the United Kingdom of Azazia, and towards other nations we trust, and we can no longer stand by and be allied to a nation that shows continual, horrifying ignorance over international developments. We are insulted by the Sarzonian government's choice to throw our friendships with other nations in the mud, as it were, and their desire to take things much too seriously. Their ambivalence over our honest desire to legally rePacitalianise Pomentane Ballistics is just too much to take.

A nation that lies through its teeth to the face of the Pacitalians does not deserve to keep its friendship with the Pacitalian people and government. A nation that openly goes on a smear campaign after being ejected dishonourably from one of the most prestigious alliances in the world is a liability we do not wish to be seen beside.

Pacitalian diplomats are already working to leave Sarzonian soil within the next 72 hours. I urge Sarzonian diplomats to do the same from the embassy in Pacitalia. As well, the Capostication titles of President Mike Sarzo, Lieutenant President Nicole Lewis and Admiral of the Navy Marcus Patinkin are indefinitely revoked until such time that the Incorporated Government of Sarzonia sees how far we are willing to go to prove how utterly incorrect and disgustingly stubborn that nation has been as of recent times.

When the Sarzonians are ready to be a mature nation once more and come to the table to restore relations, we will be ready. Until then, a belligerent, militant nation has no place in the Pacitalian Embassy Exchange Programme.

Signed,

Dr. Timotaio (Timothy) Ell, MPP
Prime Minister of the Democratic Capitalist Republic of Pacitalia

Senior Deputy Prime Minister

Official Statement, Incorporated Sarzonian Government

Effective immediately, the Incorporated Sarzonian Government orders the complete and utter cessation of all diplomatic, economic, and military ties with the Democratic Republic of Pacitalia. All Sarzonian diplomatic and consular personnel in Pacitalia or her territories shall be recalled and must return to Sarzonian territory within 72 hours.

We also call into question the honour of a government that challenged the motives behind our acquisition of Pomentane Ballistics, especially in light of the recent diplomatic situation between our nations. The time to address the concerns they have expressed was when the proposal to purchase Pomentane Ballistics was originally on the table, not when diplomatic relations took a downturn.

The Portland Iron Works has indicated to us that they are willing to sell their stake in Pomentane Ballistics to the Pacitalian government or any associated agency for whichever amount the Pacitalians agree to unconditionally. Following that sale, all relations with the Democratic Republic of Pacitalia shall come to an end.

We find it incredibly hypocritical that the government of Pacitalia chooses to attack the President's choice of cabinet officials when they have chosen someone in Dr. Samothera who was clearly unqualified for the position of Agustinate. We can take this hypocrisy and the insults, both explicit and implicit, from the Pacitalian government no longer.

Again, you label us hypocrites, and again, you are wrong, but let's get one thing straight. The only reason you find her unqualified for the job is her criticism of your government. If you can't handle a little criticism, do us all a favour and resign. I've had more than enough of your sycophantic bullshit, Mike. Enough is enough. You're at fault - accept the blame, and stop taking it so seriously, and acting like a four-year-old who didn't get his candy. You shock me.

You make me sick. You know as well as I do that there's a right way and a wrong way to handle 'criticism' of another government. Dr. Samothera chose the wrong way and paid for it. You have a hell of a lot of nerve to suggest I resign my post. Even though I thought Dr. Samothera was terribly unqualified for her post, I didn't suggest that you ask her to resign. To suggest that I resign from my post is blatantly arrogant.

Do me a favour. Don't talk to me ever again.

You're right - there is a right and wrong way to handle it. Of course, Dr. Samothera could have handled it differently in light of certain issues that are appearing now, and she admits it, but the same could be said for your diplomats. I really don't think it's in the best interests of Sarzonians or Pacitalians to completely cut ourselves off from the other, and thusly, I will be doing my part to attempt to resuscitate this dead relationship.

Dear Sirs,

It has come to my attention in recent hours that, much to my suprise, two of our closest allies seem on the verge of attributing to each other the kind of status often reserved for direct national enemies. While I admit that I do not fully understand why or how relations have become so sour so quickly, I would like to express the wishes of myself and my Government for this situation to be dealt with maturely by the two respective Governments over a conference table, rather than 'dealt with' in the manner of a brawl through newspaper interviews, and we would most like to see relations return to a reasonable state in the near future.

The statement made by the Incorporated Sarzonian Government, which echoes noises being made from the Democratic Capitalist Republican Government, will undoubtably affect the livelihoods both directly and indirectly of a large number of people in both nations, and will certainly affect the economies of your two nations possibly for years to come. We do not see any reason for this to happen, and I know that both nations have been generally friendly enough in past for relations to be pulled back from the precepice upon which they now seem precariously balanced.

Diplomacy is not in the interests of one or the other of two nations which share common values, but in the interests of both. This situation has in my opinion and I am sure in the sight of the world seriously damaged the previously good reputation of both Governments for handling situations with tact and the due seriousness that they deserve.

In the event that relations continue their downward spiral, our own relations with either nation will not be affected in the slightest, but we do not wish our allies to waste time and resources in fighting a petty ecnomic or (god forbid) military struggle against each other for a rather buy-out deal and a few hasty, badly worded and badly delivered remarks on both sides. I am sure that an agreement can be reached, and I hope that representatives of both nations will agree to attend a conference on the matter in Praeton this week.

Yours Faithfully,

Sir Tiberius Polax, MP
Foreign Secretary

Official Statement, Office of External Affairs

Effective immediately, all Sarzonian citizens currently in Pacitalia or any of her sovereign territories shall be ordered to depart Pacitalian territory within 48 hours. If this declaration causes any undue financial hardship for any Sarzonian citizens, the Office of External Affairs will reimburse any Sarzonians who require it.

In addition, we extend the same financial courtesy to any Pacitalian citizens who may be financially unable to arrange for transportation out of Sarzonia or her sovereign territory. We do not expect, nor shall we request reimbursement from the Pacitalian government should any of their citizens require financial accomodation by the Incorporated Sarzonian Government especially in light of their decertification of Pomentane Ballistics, which we in the Incorporated Government view as economic dirty pool.

Finally, I must respond to Prime Minister Timotaio Ell's demand that President Mike Sarzo resign his position within the Incorporated Sarzonian Government.

OOC: Being a secret IC comment, you shouldn't be using that in public IC posts.

But don't be surprised if Sarzo blows the whistle on Ell's demand that he resign.

OOC: It's called blowing the whistle on a secret IC comment and bringing to light the fact that Ell demanded Sarzo's resignation.

If you really insist that I take it out, I will. However, I think the further tensions that would result if it became public IC knowledge that the Pacitalian Prime Minister demanded the resignation of the Sarzonia could advance the storyline.

OOC: No, it's called if it's a secret IC comment, conventionally you ask the person first if you can use it publicly. Period. I can tell that you're making it a priority to have IC relations flushed completely, and if that's what you want, then fine, but just remember that, for the record, I started out just wanting to buy back PB legally and it was you who turned it into an "ugly divorce".

OOC: All right Pacitalia, I'll ask, and yes, it's belated and for that I apologise. I'd like your permission to use that demand that I resign in my RP because I think that has possibilities for the storyline.

OOC: Hard not to, since it was so well-written, if I may say. :p

I've commented on it on the WP boards, where I said Praetonia is probably my first choice for any sort of rehash conference.

By now, Sarzo and First Partner Jay Tyler couldn't even turn on the television without some report having to do with the cataclysmic events that resulted in Pacitalia and Sarzonia completely severing ties. Even the World Cup qualifying matches seemed to have the tensions as a backdrop. Sarzo even had to address football events because Euroslavia was in the same World Cup qualifying group as Sarzonia's football team.

"Mike, did you get the message from Polax?"

"What message from Polax," Sarzo replied sharply, whirling around and seeing Senior Vice President and External Affairs Officer Mark Lorber standing there looking like he'd seen a ghost. Poor sod probably has, Sarzo reflected bitterly.

In truth, he had, though the ghost wasn't of a living, breathing human being who met his end too soon. Instead, the ghost was the state of Paci-Sarzonian relations, which were as close as any pair of allies at one time. Now, the two nations seemed hurtling toward an "ugly divorce" as Sarzo so indelicately put it. Lorber's dark black suit and black tie, usually coupled with a pressed white dress shirt were accessorised this time with a dark grey that seemed to mirror Sarzo's mood perfectly.

"This one," Lorber said, gingerly showing the message from Lorber's Praetonian counterpart. "The shit's really hit the fan," Lorber said almost apologetically.

I'm well aware of that you obnoxious prat," Sarzo thought. He'd been part of one ruined friendship and he didn't want any part of a second. Even though the Pacitalians continued to refer to some War of the Roach like some crazed maniacs. Even though Lorber's intrusion into Sarzo's private hell was as timid as a mouse in a den of lions.

Sarzo began to read. Polax doesn't have any bloody idea, does he, Sarzo thought as he read over the words from Polax. The Praetonian foreign minister was making every effort to remain neutral and he showed a genuine interest in getting both nations together. Other countries took sides for whatever reason, whether it was an effort to join a bandwagon of condemnation against Sarzonia after a simple transaction or it was a collection of opportunists who saw a chance to improve their own standing.

The Isselmerian-Nielanders were right in Sarzonia's corner as they pretty much always were. The Scandavians were right in the thick of those who supported the Sarzonians. The legion of supporters of Pacitalia also was clear: Azazia, a nation that was in a state of mutual distate with the Sarzonians was clearly supporting Pacitalia. Hamptonshire seemed to be making inroads with the Pacitalians as well, not condemning Sarzonia, but also clearly casting their lot.

The Praetonians were different. Sarzonia's history with Praetonia was among the longest running bilateral alliances the world had ever seen. The two nations forged their bonds on the battlefield and in many alliances. But they were also Woodstock Pact allies and in several alliances with Pacitalia. They didn't want to see the rift between Sarzonia and Pacitalia. Most nations that dragged themselves into this mix didn't.

"Well, what do I tell Tiberius? Take a hike?"

"No," Sarzo said immediately. There's no diplomatic equivalent of that, he thought. Then he remembered Ell's demand that he resign. He made a fist and the paper crumpled from the force of Sarzo's right fist forming around it. But the sound it made rang as a very faint protest. A protest that for some reason made Sarzo look down.

"If Ell apologises publicly for demanding that I resign, then I'll be willing to travel to Praetonia," Sarzo said. "But my willingness to travel to Praeton is contingent upon that. If he refuses to go, then there will be no conference."

"What about the Woodstock Pact?"

"If he refuses to apologise, I'll draft a letter formally asking for Pacitalia to withdraw from the alliance. After the Union of World Powers fiasco, it serves those buggers right."

"Hold it, Mike," Lorber said. "If I know the Praetonians, they're not going to like that. I don't think you want them pissed off at you. They're the ones who've been making the most sense."

"Very well, Mark," Sarzo sighed. He closed his eyes for a moment, as if the simple act of shutting his eyes would make the events of these past few days simply melt out of existence. When he opened them again, Lorber stood across from him expectantly.

"Inform Polax that I agree to go to the conference."
