Bombing the orphanages... (FT, closed)

Jaram was annoyed. Seriously annoyed. He had yet to receive payment from the Kablek Group, a set of miners and buccaneers that lived in the Starashi Asteroid Field. He had been waiting three days, and now, he felt, he had waited long enough.

Near Starashi, the miners, and buccaneers generally had women, and children. Of course, the dangerous work they did had a very high casualty rate, and almost ninety thousand children lived in the miner-sponsored Orphanges for Orphans organisation, because most of the miners wanted their kids to have a good home when they died.

He needed that complement of engineers and tools for Starashi, and, by hook or crook, he was going to get it. Of course, he mused, all the Starashian ships would be out on the asteroid belt, and only a few mining ships would be in, now, the buccaneers having to go after a large cargo fleet, which he had created information on deliberately. Of course, they had sent him a message confirming their joining of this alliance, but had done nothing to truly confirm it. It was time to make sure that they payed up.

He had hired fifty large transports, from the exorbitant Hauler's Guild, and had six fighters of his own. His goal? To destroy every last orphanage, and take approximately twenty-five thousand, (at best) children hostage.

His lips curved downwards momentarily, and he ran his hand along the comforting length of his anpistol. He raised it experimentally, and fired a blast at the wall nearby. It dissipated harmlessly on the Yottan alloy, but his aim was good. Combined with his Essence gland, he could probably take any assassin, or any of his men who felt the leadership needed a change.

He slowly put it back in his holster, and, this time, his lips curved upwards, in a cruel smile. He picked up a large transceiver, and spoke. "Commence. Take as many alive as possible.....

Ron'ga frowned. Even with the Essence running its deadly way through his veins, he was still apprehensive. Sure, he'd been hired for his complete lack of morals, but killing over fifty thousand children, and taking any who survived hostage was almost beyond him. Ah, no matter. He'd be paid richly, before the end.

He spoke into his transmitter, and his voice, its characteristic rasp resounding throughout the ears of many others in his group, spoke. "Allright, boys. We're gonna take these children. A kilolitre each! We'll never have to work again!"

His men responded, some in a monotone, most bloodthirstily. It was time to go to work.

The fighters screamed overhead. In space, they were silent, but in an atmosphere, they were unmistakeable. The noise was incredibly loud, and it drowned out everything else. Of course, it was but a minor annoyance, compared to what was to come.

The blue-white stones of Marani Orphanage stood below... but not for long. A single, white-hot nuclear explosive dropped, into the middle of the orphanage. A teacher, Ms. Bunnol by name, a cruel woman, given to punishments for no reason, watched in abject horror, as it exploded.

The ground shook. Over twenty thousand children in this orphanage alone, virtually a city of children. The white-hot explosive ripped through walls and people alike, burning most to a crisp, but leaving a few, who, dying horribly, screaming out to their unknown parents in their final moments.

Indeed, a perfectly round circle, stopping at an exact point, had destroyed almost 75% of the orphanage, and killed over 60% of its inhabitants. Although 'killed', was not such a good word, as 'murdered', or 'slaughtered innocents for no reason other than the reason they were of use in power plays'.

Four transports with him opened fire on individuals, and began slaughtering anyone who didn't run into a group. He gritted his teeth, and began firing with low-power shots, at all those stubborn orphans who didn't realise what to do.

Of course, within half a minute, another ten thousand were dead, and those left were gathered in a big, big group, for safety. "Now, for the annoying part", he said. He fired a low-powered bomb at the group, blistering those nearby, and incinerating those in the epicentre. Approximately two thousand relatively unharmed orphans were left.

"Perfect."

He opened up his loudspeaker, and set the synthesizer for his voice, in order to make it sound a flat monotone. "Greetings. Four transports are landing nearby. You will get in the cargo compartments, and stand in the holding cells. Failure to comply will be met with death."

About fifty people broke off, running, and he, with his copious supply of Essence, shot them all down, without mercy, callously. He smiled.

"Perhaps I did not make myself clear. Get in or die. You have five seconds"

Suddenly, a screaming, writhing mass of humanity began running towards the transports, trying desperately to get onboard, trying desperately to get on the transports. Of course, it helped that they were punctuated by laser blasts around them, which would, in all probability, give them third-degree burns, but he didn't really care. His order was to take them alive, not unhurt.

-Two minutes later, landing site-

Ron'ga smiled. They were all in. "Alpha, omega, delta, boys. We're ready for takeoff. Let's get outta this hellhole before the daddies come back.
He knew that, with all probability, every other pilot had completed his mission. Approximately five hundred orphans to each ship, and fifty ships... that made... twenty-five thousand. He didn't know what the First was going to do with twenty-five kay of orphans, but, then again, he didn't really care. He was a rich man, now, and one who was eternally bound to the First....

- Six hours later, First of the Affiliate's, Jaram Byar's room -

He put down the transceiver. "Good. Soon, another powerful planet will fall under my sway. The bleeding hearts of Starashi wouldn't come to him willingly, but, then again, it was expensive to find food for so many orphans, let alone homes and beds. He sat down, and waited. Soon enough, he would have his answer....
