The Swiss diplomat silently spoke into a cell phone, connecting to a commander in Bern:
"It is done, sir"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. It is inevitable. As soon as the attack occurs, the invasion will begin. Our men on both sides are totally ready for the war. Enough of the German military will die to force the war, and enough French will defect to Germany that neither will be able to retain independence. Our man can take the rulership and merge peacefully with us, establishing either Berlin or Paris as capital, whichever 'wins.'"
"Of course. Your wife wants you home in Bern. Return immediately."
"Yes, sir."

A German camp in the Rhineland was sitting in the dark silence of the wee hours of morning. Several watchmen were awake, but otherwise the camp was silent. It was 2AM, local time as the clock ticked. The soldiers were just going onto shift change when, all of a sudden, there was a massive explosion in the main part of the camp. There were more explosions as sniper shots could be heard. Men returned fire, but whoever the attackers were did their job well. The camp was burned. The men were dead.

When local police arrived in the morning to check it out, they found no one there. The camp was gone and the few men remaining were dead or about to be. The only idea they had for what had occured were two things: a note, in which the Rhineland Liberation League claimed responsibility, and a single other man, an attacker who had died in the attack. They found in his pocket, a Swiss bank account. German Intelligence was ordered to covertly discover who the bank account belonged to and whom had contributed to it. The wheels were set in motion. Europe would again be torn apart in war.
