ATHENS – Today the Greek Parliament announced the purchase of Northern Bulgaria from North Germania for an unknown price. Rumors say the price was in the trillions. The Hellenic Army quickly moved in parading through the streets of Sofia. In front of the burning Yelm government building stood the Supreme General Atticus. “Today is a great day for both Greece and the Bulgarians. You will be able to rejoin your brothers south of the border. For years there have been broken families separated by that cursed Yelm wall but now it has been torn down. You will all be able to get Foreign Citizenship in the Hellenic Empire.” Atticus said right after the Army set fire to the Yelm government building.
Later on the day the Army captured top Yelm government officials and military generals and officers and where accused of war crimes. They have been executed by gun fire in front of a Bulgarian audience in Sofia. Then a ceremony for raising the flag followed next while Hoplites, the Hellenic Army’s elite soldiers, chanted the national anthem. The Yelm flag was burned after the Greek flag was raised.
The Greek Parliament also announced the passing of a bill that will last for 10 years in helping economically the Bulgarians to settle in there new environment under Greek rule. The Emperor improved of the 100 million drachma budget for the project.

The Emperor would also like to establish basic diplomatic relations with the Empire of Layarteb. We will accept an embassy exchange and grant construction rights to consulates in any city of the Hellenistic Empire. We hope these relations will evolve into a permenant alliance between the two Empires in the future.

The Empire and Greece should discuss more along the lines of policy, domestic and foreign, what roles we see ourselves in the world, and lastly, what we believe we can contribute to each other.

Our foreign policy has always been "you mess with us then prepared to be destroyed". We are not scared of using any means necessary to achieve our objectives. We also do not interfere with any of our ally’s domestic affairs. Most of the times we will not interfere in foreign affairs of our allies but if it involves us or another ally then we will get ourselves involved. Our domestic policy has always been to take care of our citizens and then everything else comes second.
What role in the world do I see the Hellenistic Empire in? I see it as a beacon of knowledge, freedom, and hellenism. Both our Empires can contribute to each other defense, a much needed thing in a world full of wars, trade and friendship.

The Empire feels much in the way that you do. The Empire does not believe in interferring with the domestic affairs of any nation unless those affairs directly affect a citizen of the Empire. The Empire views itself as a semi-isolated nation that does nto meddle in foreign affairs unless they directly affect us. Strong allies of the Empire, primarily, those of The October Alliance, will see the Empire coming to their aide upon request, without hesitation. Lesser allies, depending on the situation, will have a more limited response.
The Empire itself feels that its role in the world is a role that is, as of current, limited. We do not believe in any international law or any international ruling body and would object to the forming of one by not joining. The Empire does see itself as a knowledge base and a contributor to the world much as Greece does but it does not seek to push political ideology.
The defense of Greece remains a strong point for us. As you are aware, the Fourth Reich is among our strongest allies. Their safety and the safety of the Med to remain open are paramount. The Kingdom of Norway, another strong allie, controls the Suez Canal. The fall of Greece to a hostile power would result in problems in the Med as well as through the Suez Canal.

I am glad that both the Empire’s have the same views on domestic and foreign policy. Greece is one of the safest nations in the Mediterranean Sea. The Poseidon Coastal Defense ensures that no enemy fleets get within firing range on our cities because there fleets would have been completely destroyed from long range cannons and guided ground-to-ship missiles. We also announced the construction of the Metaxas Line (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=452228) that has begun today. It will be one massive defense wall surrounding our borders.
We also took steps to ensure that the Eastern Mediterranean Sea remains free and trade can continue without captains having to worry about pirates our hostile nations. The Cretian Mediterranean Patrol Unit answers any call of aid both domestic and foreign.

The Empire is pleased Greece has taken steps to protect both civilian and militarily. Free commerce through the Med into the Black Sea and south into the Red Sea must be paramount. The supply lines through the Med and into the Black Sea not only protect commerce but also are crucial for us to get to our strong allie, the Fourth Reich.
Perhaps it is acceptible to open an embassy in each others' nations. Greece is hereby invited to open an embassy in Layarteb City.

The Empire does not request to build consulates but the idea is appreciated. The only conditions by which the Empire has for embassies are as follows:
Embassy Conditions
There are to be no weapons caches at your embassy.
There are to be no more than 100 armed guards at your embassy.
Any acts of using an embassy as a method for espionage or spying will immediately result in dismissal of you from our country as well as further action.
Currently, protesting is illegal in the Empire of Layarteb as the last time protesting was allowed, it led to a democratic revolution that failed miserably.
All drugs are illegal in Layarteb except those approved by the FDA (aspirin, medicine, etc. are legal but not Marijuana, Cocaine, LSD, etc.).

Understood. Only 50 lightly armed guards will be sent to protect the embassy. I also have no problem if you conduct any non notified inspections. Even if it is our embassy we respect the right your nation holds to protect its people.
The embassy will also take the proper steps to stop any Greek protests that might take place in your Empire. We on the other hand will allow peaceful protests from Layarteb citizens in Greece.
