In another reform, Premier Weishaupt has announced the replacement of firearms in the Ankhmeti Civil Protection Squad with high-power stun guns. The Premier has stated that many more reforms are to come, posibbly including an early election.
The Government has opened up the contract for production ahigh-efficiency less-than-lethal weapon to any company in the world, and is offering A$10,000,000,000 to manufacture the weapon, with a further $5,000,000,000 to design a weapon and make it exclusive to Ankhmeti Civil Protection.
The kind of crime that needs ana rmed response doesn't exist in Ankhmet in a volume high enough to justify the use of firearms by ordinary members of the police force. We will maintain an armed Rapid Response Unit, but all ordinary street officers will be given stun guns. The only remaining obstacle is getting a company to accept the multi-billion dollar contract.
