The Adamantine Pact:
Treaty of Alliance Between Holy Xirnium and Soviet Kahanistan and Saint Fedski

The Ecclesiarchy of His Holy Empire of Xirnium, the Supreme Soviet of the Democratic Soviet Republic of Kahanistan and the Security Council and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Holy Empire of Saint Fedski, desirous of strengthening the cause of peace between Xirnium, Kahanistan and Saint Fedski and proceeding from the fundamental provisions of the agreement concluded in October 2005 at conference in the Infinite Empire of Yallak between Xirnium and Kahanistan, have reached the following agreement:

ARTICLE I
Both High Contracting Parties obligate themselves to desist utterly from any act of violence, any aggressive action, any hostile economic action and any attack on each other, either individually or jointly with other powers.
ARTICLE II
Should one of the High Contracting Parties become the object of belligerent action by a third power, the other High Contracting Party shall pledge immediate military assistance to the other and commence hostilities against this unfriendly third power.
ARTICLE III
The Governments of the two High Contracting Parties shall in the future maintain continual contact with one another for the purpose of consultation in order to exchange information on problems affecting their common interests.
ARTICLE IV
Neither of the two High Contracting Parties shall participate in any grouping or alliance of powers whatsoever that is directly or indirectly aimed or contrary to the interests of the other party.
ARTICLE V
Should disputes or conflicts arise between the High Contracting Parties over problems of one kind or another, both parties shall settle these disputes or conflicts exclusively through friendly exchange of opinion or, if necessary, through the establishment of arbitration commissions.
ARTICLE VI
The two High Contracting Parties declare their intentions to establish full and open trade ties.
ARTICLE VII
The present treaty is concluded for a period of fifty years, with the provision that, in so far as one of the High Contracting Parties does not denounce it one year prior to the expiration of this period, the validity of this treaty shall automatically be extended for another fifty years.
ARTICLE VIII
The present treaty shall be ratified within the shortest possible time. The agreement shall enter into force as soon as it is signed.

OCC: I'd like to forge some kind of coalition to destroy Kraven, and put an end to their warmongering and disgusting genocide, this is a start. Of course, as you say we are both at war with them already, so I wanted to show my appreciation by pledging to help you also. As well as that, I wanted to fully put behind us that unfortuante but brief period of war that we had.

Hopefully we can do great things with this alliance, but I believe we are both agreed that at the moment Kraven is by far the greatest threat, perhaps not only to us but the world.

The Empire is pleased at the progress made between Xirnium and Kahanistan. As the Guardian of Xirnium, and in light of the recent events befolding due to the evil Kraven Corporation, Yallak too offers it friendship to the people of Kahanistan.
Currently the Imperial Senate is still debating what actions we will take in regard to forming relations with Kahanistan, but the news of your alliance will no doubt result in a swift and benificial decision for all parties.

Of course, it goes without saying that if the Yallak Imperium was ever threatened by a foreign power then Xirnium, as a self-governing protectorate of Yallak, would collectively rise up in defence of the Infinite Empire. OOC: I haven't seen Kraven in the invasion thread in days. It would suck for him (her?) to show up and find that Xirnium probably has an air force (Kahanistan is coming in with carriers and MiG's for its ally) and that numerous allies have lodged official complaints in the thought-criminal thread. :)

OCC: Sure is getting extremely interesting though, seems a real hornets nest is being shaken up.

Funny how things work though, isn't it? When this war began I remember I was barely a 10 million strong nation without a single friend. Now my nation exceeds 120 million, has several allies (to whom I admit I owe my ongoing existance) and, most importantly, still exists. Xirnium is still in mortal danger, of course, but far less then it once was.

Now, I feel, Kraven too is starting to fall in danger.

OOC: Sure has, right now im writing my nation preparing for war against Kraven - but i have a plan and it doesn't involve a direct attack on Kraven (yet).

OOC: Amazing what a few human rights improvements can do. I pointed the same thing out to Kraven.

Ahh, no that is not my intention. The decision to join the Infinite Empire was made by the Ecclesiarchy, not the God-Emperor, and Xirnium shall stay within the Yallak Imperium. You will notice that, though the God-Emperor (apparently) directly controlled the nation initially during the conflict the Ecclesiarchy and especially the Grand Cardinals have been gradually becoming more and more powerful. Xirnium's internal politics is even more complex then that, however, and their are other factions such as the Inquisition, the Holy Knights Orders, the Monastic Orders, etc, all wishing to gain power at the expense of the God-Emperor.

In fact, the Grand Cardinals see the Infinite Empire as the means through which they can eventually depose the God-Emperor.

As for the religious-themed posts, I intend to keep them. After all, the Xirnium people are deeply religious and believe in their God-Emperor, and the Ecclesiarchy will seek to use that to its advantage in the bitter powergames that are being played out amongst the highest levels of Xirnium's government. It will take much more then a change in government for the religion to die out, and probably it never will.

This is all OCC of course, and to the outside world the Xirnium government seems to be a solid monolith subservient to the God-Emperor (something increasingly less true as time goes by). However, thats a different topic for a different rp, for now I want to keep these "internal politics" as a dim background to be elaborated on more full later.

On the other hand, it was the Grand Cardinals who signed the treaty in the first place, so Kahanistan would be just as likely to side with them. It'll certainly be interesting to see how this plays out, but we'll have to wait till the invaders are expelled.

Personally, I think you need not fear a civil war in Xirnium. The Grand Cardinals, indeed all the factions in Xirnium, know that in any civil war the "loyalists" of the God-Emperor would immediately gain the full and total support of the masses and be swiftly defeated. Also, none of the factions desire Xirnium blood be spilt. On the other hand, the God-Emperor already knows that the power in Xirnium's government has already decisively swung in the Grand Cardinals favour, they rule without his approval and practically dictate policy to the him.

Instead, I think that what will happen will instead be a gradual increase in the marginalisation of the God-Emperor himself and increasing democratisation of the country until he becomes nothing more than a rubber stamp for the Ecclesiarchy and eventually is probably replaced (covertly) with a member of the Ecclesiarchy, while of course the facade of his rule continues to exist. Indeed, already it is the Ecclesiarchy who hold the real power in Xirnium and the God-Emperor is mainly a symbol and figurehead.

If violence ever does erupt in the power struggles it would have to be a quick and quiet coup, the people of Xirnium can never know about it or else it would fail. Personally, I think it unnessesary and unlikely, the Grand Cardinals are already for all intents and purposes already in control of the country.

But all are interesting possibilities for a future rp. ;)

I just had to say that because Xirnium has done a brilliant job of villanising the Corporation, which was what i wanted from the start.
Thankyou, indeed my aim for a while now has been to create outrage towards Kraven and help forge some type of coallition against them, I'm thrilled that its started to payoff.

I'd like you to give me your thoughts on the proposed Anti-Kraven Pact, and whether you would be willing to sign. I intentionally left it vague so no nation feels overly bound.

If it pleases you, I'll send over the following plans. Though these aircraft are not as modern as the types employed on frontline service (i.e. the RADF-2,Arkbird, Scorpian), they are still extremely effective designs.

Holy Xirnium declares that the Saint Fedskian Security Council has violated the terms of the Adamantine Alliance despite repeatedly being asked to respect Article V and no longer considers the alliance to be applicable to Saint Fedski.

I would like to attend this meeting, as soon as my security commander can find a way to secretly extract me from Kahanistan, where we are under bombardment from Kravania, as you well know. Disguising me is out of the question, I am seven feet tall and weigh over three hundred pounds.
