New National Weapon

For a few years the Psyker Bearzerkers have been discussing the idea of changing the national weapon. Needless to say it has found both supporters and fierce opposition

The Axe: Current National Weapon, defined as a long handle with a sharpened wedge, used in combat to crush and open large fatal wounds, more then to actually sever completely. Supporters continually say it has been the chosen weapon to pass down, defining the nation and also call it "The Weapon that made The Bearzerkers". Opposition sees as brutish and not befitting the nation.

The Sword: A regal weapon thought by many to distinguish the Bearzerkers as a cultivated nation. Supporters see it as a weapon to elevate the image of the Bearzerking, Dar Flayer and his position and title, in the international view. Opposition calls the weapon elitist and unbefitting of "Our roots".

The Hammer: Purely an impact weapon used by the archaic ancestors of the Psyker Bearzerkers. A long haft with a brad suface to break bones an crack skulls, usually has a counter weight behind it in the form of a sharp pick. Supporters say "Go to the Deepest of our roots”. Opposition calls it a weapon not befitting "A weapon to kill hippie pacifist!"

As berzerkers I think that you have an obligation to have the ax as your national weapon

I agree with the majority of votes here and say the axe. However, it's not one of the options, but if it were I'd support the A-97E semithermonuclear triple-beam ionizer. ;)

Never trust a weapon with a name larger then it is. ;)

Well, considering that the Bastard Sword was often the weapon of choice for ragin berserkers churning through entire whordes like so much chaff, I've voted for the sword. Remember, swords can be just as brutal as axes.

I have to disagree with Scand in this one. When choosing a national weapon, what it symbolizes, what are the words that first come to mind when on sees it are most important things. Not the weaopns actual abilities in battle or "stats" of any type, neither the way it "could be used" as Scand says.

When you think of axe, what comes to mind? Raging berserker crushing and smashing down everything that comes to his way, spreading blood, brains and pieces of bone everywhere with every swing.

Compare that to sword. A lady-looking man in a white suit, owner of moustaches and a manson, fencing against his rich friends! (Well, no. But you get the idea from this caricatyre:D)

Ok, explain exactly how I'll get them all off of my 85-ship fleet, not to mention about four thousand tanks, seven thousand planes, and assorted defenses in port cities. ;)

Bleh, quiet, that's your problem. ;) :p :D

Hey Czardas, how about some IC diplomatic contact? If you want we can start some in my factbook thread.

EDIT: 85-ships? Damn, that's puny compared to my 2000 ship fleet. ;)

Well, I make up for it by having an air force of no fewer than 7,200 planes, not counting reserve planes and those still in the making.

Some will say I have my priorities a bit messed up, but I find that maintaining air superiority tends to be optimal for any type of conflict. "It's easier to throw a bomb down from the air than it is to throw one up!" ;)

By overwelming vote the national weapon stays the Axe.

The crossed axe crest of Psyker Bearzerkers is once again revealed on every door and building in Psyker Bearzerkers. Even the war in Black Hive did not stop the hiding civilians from painting the sacred crest all across Black Hive. Kraven's Capitol Police, punnished bearzerkers for thier innsolence, exicuting them without thought.

I too voted axe, even though it already won. Sure swords come in all shapes and sizes, but with an axe... Lets just say you know what you're going to expect. Strong, Brutal strikes. Just what comes to mind when I say, "Psyker Bearzerkers". That or some kinda bear with war paint charging into battle with an axe, but the axe is still there.

Personally I'd favor the Halberd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halberd); it's like an axe, but more refined and versatile.
