Laksevag Naval Shipyards

Welcome to Laksevag Naval Shipyards. Here, you will find the best quality warships for reasonable sums. We welcome all nations to our sale areas, and hope you will find something to your liking. Please read the rules listed below carefully before buying.

Rules

1.) Do your own math.

2.) Please purchase logically. For instance, if you're an Oct. 05 nation, you cannot buy 1,000 battleships. To check your budget, use the NSTracker (http://nstracker.retrogade.com/) calculator and see under "Defense" how much you can spend.

3.) You must have at least some sort of RP when placing orders/etc, even if it's only "my nation would like to purchase this many of that class" or something.

4.) We do not sell to communists, socialists or terrorists, nor those who support terrorists.

5.) The following can recieve discounts
The October Alliance: 25 %
NAANP: 10 %
Earth II membership: 5 %

Please note that only one discount can be used, and that all attempts to use discounts will be checked thurroughly. Any attempts to use a discount when you aren't intitled to use it will result in a denial of sale to that nation.

Custom designs

As a new addition to Laksevag Naval Shipyards, and as a sign of the flexibility that we offer, is that we are willing to design custom vessels, should you not find anything you like. Please tell us what kind of vessel you wish, roughly displacement, armaments, armor, etc, and how much you wish to pay for it, and we'll see what we can do. Please allow for up to one week for our design teams to compile a design.

Armor schemes used

TKCS: A mix of titanium, kevlar, composite materials and steel incorporated into a elaborate scheme. This scheme has an RHA equivalent of one to four, which means that one centimeter of the armor scheme used is the same as four centimeters of steel. This is the standard armor scheme available to us.

DUSKT2: A mix of titanium, depleted uranium, a very thin layer of tungsten, steel and kevlar in a elaborate scheme. This gives for a very resistant armor which has a RHA equivalent of one to six, meaning that one centimeter of the armor scheme used is the same as six centimeters of steel. This is the best (and most expensive) armor schemes available to us.

Cannons used

Mk-28: 40mm/60 caliber automatic cannon with 400 rounds stowed. Crew of 3.

Mk-45: 3"/59 caliber cannon with 120 rounds stowed. Crew of 4.

Mk-58: 8"/56 caliber cannon with 180 rounds stowed. Crew of 8.

Mk-75: 5"/54 caliber cannon with 170 rounds stowed. Crew of 5.

Mk-79: 16"/62 caliber cannon with 158 rounds stowed. Crew of 18.

Mk-82: 14"/60 caliber cannon with 168 rounds stowed. Crew of 14.

Mk-99: The Mark-99 is a navalized and slightly shortened GAU-8/B Avenger cannon with seven barrels attached to a radar. It fired 30 x 289 mm shells to a range of up to 4,100 meters. The rate of fire is at 3,600 rounds per minute. It is fully automated.

On your ragnarock class BB i'd suggest knocking the secondary armament down from 8" to 5" DP.

Medium Caliber weapons were proven ineffective on battleships in the Spanish American war, the Russo-Japanese War. Hence the rise of the dreadnought where in 1905 they moved from mixed armaments of 12, 10 and 8" weapons to a large number of primary weapons. (12" at first but in 1910ish moved to 13 and 14 inch and by the end of the teens to 15 and 16")

these are the Dreadnoughts, SuperDreadnoughts and Fast Battleships.

An 8" gun just doesn't belong on a battleship as its ineffective against aircraft and if a smaller vessel gets close enough to a battleship, the battleships escorts haven't done their job.

oh and your never going to get a ship that big to go 40 knots. sorry dude, just won't happen especially on a monohull design(not that i approve of Dual and trihull designs. but i digress.

you should knock the max speed down to just above 30 knots. The only other ships that are that size and move at a similar speeds are Nimitz class Carriers. They are supposedly rated at over 30 knots but actually only make a best speed of around 28.
Of the council of clan
29-10-2005, 16:36
Oh and all of your frigates should be classified as Destroyers and your Destroyers should be classified as cruisers. and your cruisers should be BattleCruisers, your battlecruiser is a Battleship. Actually you don't have any really light vessels, (real frigates) that tend to be around 1,000-2,000 tons
Layarteb
29-10-2005, 17:13
Let's see. The Iowa could sustain 33 knots and sprint to around 35 or a little more. Add more power and you can do 40 knots in a sprint buddy.
Cotland
29-10-2005, 17:31
Of the council of clan I can see your points, but let me explain my logic for using 8" cannons, a absolute maximum of 41 knots on the Flight II version of the Ragnarok and the other stuff.

First off, the 8"s. The reasons you don't want me to have that caliber is because they're alledgedly uneffective against aircraft. Perhaps, but as I mention when I describe the Ragnarok is that she's a state-of-the-art vessel, completely digitalized and sport AEGIS radars. The cannons are connected to the radars and computers which calculate when and where to fire. For anti-air purposes, this provides with air protection equivalent of that of a 5"/54 caliber cannon. The 8"s can do a lot of damage against any potential surface combatant that manage to get past the escorts, but their main purpose is similar to that of the main guns: naval gun support for Marines. Hence I go by the motto "the bigger, the better". A 203mm projectile can deliver far more damage than a 127mm projectile.

Secondly, the speed. As Layarteb said, the Iowa, which the Ragnarok is based on, could sustain 33 knots using steam boilers, and reach a maximum sprint speed of 35 knots. The speed I have placed on each vessel is the absolutely maximum speed possible to obtain in the best weather conditions possible. Only then can you reach the top speed of 41 knots on the Flight II, but you won't be able to sustain it for very long. Neither do I recommend that you sail at that speed. Recommended sustained max speed would be around 38 knots for the Flight II. As for the Flight I, I can see your point, but then again, its got more shaft horsepower than the Iowas, and thus it can go faster. Recommended sustained speed for the Flight I is 35 knots.

As for the designations, I'm gonna keep them exactly the way they are. If you want to call them something else, then feel free to do so, even though they officially are FPBs, FFs, FFGs, DDGs, CGN, BCNs and BBGNs.

The Iowa displaced HALF of that ship, plus had a narrower beam.

Hence why that ship has a ton more horsepower.
Of the council of clan
29-10-2005, 17:38
The closest ships in history to your Ragnarock design would probably be the Yamato and Montana Class

The Yamato had a top speed of 27 knots and the Montana had a projected top speed of 28, 29 knots

Your ship is TOO BIG to move that fast

the beam of the Iowa was 108 feet, a long ship with a narrow beam can move faster, thats why its bow was so much longer than say the North Carolina Class BB

as far as fire support goes, nowadays precision replaces power. 203mm weapons are nice, but a well placed 155mm shell will do more than a poorly placed 203mm. Granted I don't know what sort of guidance you have with your shells. if your targets can't be taken out by the 5-6" weapons just use the 16"'s but that is just a suggestion and is your preference

but yeah, slow that ship down. Just adding horsepower doesn't neccesarly add speed to a ship that big. You've got worry about Water dynamics and such.

(possibly your biggest order yet, but I'm completely redoing my navy, as all my old records are gone for good)

The Elephanti Navy is completely replacing the ships in their inventory. The ships we received from you earlier were of superior performance than any we recieved from Layarteb, so we have made Laksevag our primary naval supporter. In order to replace our aging fleet we would require the following:

50xNightengale
150xMoengen
100xWirgley
50xEleeste
250xTennesse
750xDevil
300xArmada

175xDevlin Flt II
250xRothsky
200xKubler
150xHoraland
100xTiger
50xRagarnok flt II

A total of 3075 ships would be required, for a total of 2.0149025 Trillion USD. Due to the large nature of this order, the ships need not be delivered en masse. It would likely be more convenient for both of us if ships were sent when available, as a fleet of 3075 ships is rather hard to move somewhere all at once.

Communication from Elephanti Naval Command
We are curious as to whether Laksevag is planning on releasing any Aircraft carriers or assault ships. Such an addition would greatly increase the ability of Laksevag to offer a full fleet.

We would be interested in obtaining carriers of the following designs:

Awali-Class Light Amphibious Carrier

Conventional Power
850-900 feet long
Maximum 20 feet displacement
30 knots max speed
Capability to hold up to 6-20 VSTOL planes and 6-35 Helicopters, depending on combination
capablility to hold landing craft

(designed to be slightly better than Wasp Class)

Tylos-Class Aircraft Carrier

Nuclear Powered
1100-1200 feet long
minimum draft
75+aircraft
4 elevators, 5 catapults

(bigger than Nimitz, smaller capacity)

If Either design is not manageable, we will accept as close as possible. We will place orders once an appraisal of feasability and cost are complete. (if you want to sell these, that is fine)

OOC: Not sure if this will happen, but I may resurrect my logistical storefront (if only the damn search would work) but if I do, it will contain a naval component. Instead of outright competing, would you like to offer your logistical ships (Moengen, hospital, and the other one, not going back to the front page) in that storefront through a partnership?

Angaor: Your orders is denied, for several reasons. Firstly, this storefront is out of business and no further orders are taken. Secondly, your math is way off, and thus in violation of the first rule of this storefront (Do your own math). Thirdly, the Devil is horribly obsolete by current NS standards, and wouldn't do your navy much good. I recommend Isselmere-Nieland (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=484448) if you're gonna get some good naval vessels.
