I was thinking about an idea for an invasion of an Imperial province out in the Barrow Sea (the sea near Comatica) named Secruteus. The island has had an unstable atmosphere ever since the Comatic navy used it as an outpost during the Sumixian war. The island has been part of the empire for about 150 years, but the citizens revolted for their unfairly treated province and demanded independence. Since the initial revolt 4 years ago, the rebellions have fizzled out, but the citizens still want a degree of independence. The island has since been on the receiving end of salutary neglect, but is still fully affected by Inperial descisions back in the Comatic capital of Aredeth.
This is where the international communitry comes into play. Two nations see the opportunity for an easy catch, so they pounce on the mentally detatched province of Secruteus. This island, though rather small, is a candy store of natural resources, which is why Comatica initially captured it in 1843. In the mountains, there are hidden deposits of uranium, tungsten, and, to a much lesser extent, gold; in the western area, there are several hundred oil fields, and more areas in Secruteus are being discovered that promise black gold.
The two nations send a coalition invasion force to the island, and expect to divide the island between themselves once captured, and reap the benefits of the natural resources. But a little while after Secruteus is taken, the Comatic military gets its act together and declares war on the two nations, invades Secruteus to take back what’s theirs, and eventually invades the initial attackers. So, basically what I’m proposing is a war.

Population: 11,224,900
Capital: Praetalae (pop. 977,872)
Resources: uranium, gold, tungsten, coal, oil, copper
