As the title suggests the Holy Roman is finnaly invading Swedan. If anyone has any OOC questions please don't post them here, either post them at the HRE news thread or the main thread.

IC- His Highness Price Ludwig Autrasa Von Munche watched as his army poured across the Brandenburg border into Pomerania. It had taken hours to move the army just 2 miles. 100,000 Infantry and 8,000 Cavalry had precedded the trains of artillery and supply trains. The cannons were hard to move especially the heavy 18 pound batteries that had been brought with. All togeather 12 batteries had been pulled up hill through Brandenburg's now wet terrain.

The prince jumped as he was tapped on the back by one of the spies he had sent out earlier "Your highness, the road to Selz is clear mostly just peasents and possibley some militia and soldiers near the town but nothing this army can't handle. I also took the liberty of sending out cavalry squads to arrest pesants along the road. They should have no warning that we are coming untill we get there."

" By the time this army get's to the town, they could have every Swedish citizen trained, armed and positioned in military fashion! Please relay these orders to General Kellor: take 10,000 skirmeshers, Light regiments, and grenadiers to the town and sack it. We need a forward base, General Kellor is allowed to use any means Necessary to take the town. And also Captain make sure 1 cavalry regiment sweeps the area again before the infantry is dispatched." As the captain walked off with his orders the prince settled down to wait, only two hours away from the city and it might take the army a day to get there. Finally the cavalry regiment returned, the chosen infantry squads moved out as soon as the cavalry had delivered a report. They moved fast and silently.

OOC- Whose moderating this one?

ooc: I'm sorry I probably didn't make this clear but Pomerania was merely a territory that we have a claim to, i.e. we believe that it is actually ours and we have a right to it. But we lost it in a previous war with the Holy Roman Empire some time ago. If you want however, you can still invade and just say you are stamping your authority in the region.

OOC- Pomerania was surrendered in the war to HRE but there was never a principality established, so it's not really ours. Pomerania in mostly just controled by warlords and either Catholic or Protestant clergy. I just assumed that those warlords would be loyal to their old masters but whatever. It would only give you more soldiers and kill more of my men, but if you don't want to we can just say I went through the country with no resistance.

I will RP a resistance if you want, its mostly just princelings but they have no love for the HRE.

OOC- Please do, going through a country with no resistance isn't all that fun. And of course you can bring down Swedish soldiers or the Russians can make a entrance. Practically anyone in the area can join one side or the other.

Liebnitz was not pleased. His fiefdom was directly in the path of the approaching Holy Roman storm. He had hated the Swedes, hated them with a passion, but he was hardly sanguine towards the Romans. He saw them as Catholic puppets and they would not, by God, have anything to do with his fiefdom.

The following message was sent out to his fellow princes:

I, Mannfredd Von Liebnitz, hereby call on you for aid. There is nought I like to see more than a Catholic rolling in the fruits of his labour and we can expect nothing but misery back in the Holy Roman yolk. Yet, we should not call to Sweden, they would just oppress us as these Romans will. I say we band together with eachother and the Dutch. Dutch help could seal our independence once and for all without giving in to the major powers. If you answer my call we can raise maybe 30,000 men, a tenth of that in cavalry. But with the Dutch? Another 40,000 men and maybe we can win. Join me, and lets give these Holy Roman pigs a headache.

Yours,

Von Liebnitz.

With that, Liebnitz called his men to arms and prepared for the storm.

General Letafrix Haig looked angry as his 10,000 men lined up in front of Selz just out of cannon range ,what exactly was he supposed to do against a fortified city with only two 6 pound cannons.

"Well we always have diplomacy. Corporal take this message down for the people of Selz:"

"Good morning, we hope it shall stay that way. The Holy Roman Empire has no grievences against any of Pomerania's citizens and does not wish any harm to them, but if you continue to harbor these fugatives, which call themselves your leaders actions must be taken. They are indoubtedly Swedish puppets, which bring you nothing but misery.Surrender them and become a part of Empire, no matter of your relgion you shall be excepted, no longer are protestants attacked, all the people of Pomerania welcome. Sweden is our only real enemy, you have 12 hours to decided before we bombard your city."

The corporal nodded as he finished writing this down, reached for his riding cloak, grabbed a megaphone and rode out to Selz. The general waited on the hill where his staff had been based on he smiled as the sound of the pompous ultimatum floated across the would be battle ground.

"Will it really take another 12 hours to move our army to this position, send a runner to his Highness in the rear requesting artillery very very fast." One last horse galloped off, hopefully they would just attach the cannons to the horses and forget most of the other metal things that made no sense to Letafrix.

OOC- I don't have a reply yet but i'll just assume it's no to the surrender, and that it's already been 12 hours. Need to keep this going so I can get to Swedan

"Didn't think it would work anyway we haven't exactly been nice," the last word was spat by general Haig. "They have seen our army and they stand fairly good, now it's time for another terror campaign. Captain, please inform the regimental bands that before our shelling we would like a verse of "Eien Liebe Krieg." A captain saluted smartly and walked off towards the forward batteries with his message.

30 minutes later the combined bands, nearly 700 men, began to play a violent drum beat exclimated with the loud crash of cymbals. The music died away, after a moment of silent acceptence the 18 pound cannons at the front began to roar. Followed by the high angle motar shells from the back, which would explode in the air rain burning shrapnel down on the Selz. After an hour of shelling the guns silenced, the orginal 10,000 men who were supposed to take the fortified town stepped forward. They carried ladders and small explosives in case the bombardment had left to much wall standing. General Haig rammed on his feathery hat mounted his horse and cantered to the front rank.

"On signal companies will advance, at double time march!" The general put a whistle to his lips a blew this was followed by the louder sounds of trumpets from the rear. With grenadiers in front the line started moving at a jog towards Selz.

'Surrender to you? Hah, This proposition is laughable, we shall fight the oppression of any power, most of all that of Catholic monkeys such as yours. We fear no heretic evil.'

With that, the men of the city readied the defences, preparing an abbatis over the firestep of one wall and preparing to sweep it with musket fire from the street below.

OOC- Sorry about not replying i've very busy with tests and homework and what not. For what little moderating we need a send a TG to Wolfenbach to see if he wants to.

IC: General Haig was not pleased his elite grenadiers which were supposed to be cutting down enemies were sluggishly moving through a rabels of untrained men. He had sent a runner to the main army, they had at least responded this time 12,000 regulars had encircled the city, no one would escape. The commander had also found it usefull to send in a regiment of cavalry, Haig did not really know what to do with cavalry in a city so he sent around the inside of the large wall surrounding the city, he had not yet received any reports.

"Why does it take 10,000 men to kill only about 4,000 poorly trained millitia?! This is taking to long and there is a sharpshooter in every window blocking our path. Captain, pull back the infantry to the wall, then set fire to the city."

"Sir is that wise his highness was very specific he wanted a forward command we should spare the town," a captain it what would be full dress-uniform except for a large spot of blood on the shoulders said in an aristocratic drawl.

"The river (Actually only a small stream which might at most spare 1/4 of the city) should protect at least half of his city his highness can set up his desk there, now captain follow my orders. And don't even think about mentioning the cavalry, they have horses which will help..." the general sighed then looked angrily at the captain who immediately took the hint and sent out runners. About 20 minutes later grenadiers were were advancing on the outer-most buildings with buckets of pitch and torches.

His Highness Price Ludwig Autrasa Von Munche Price of Bavaria rode through the streets of Selz, everything very crisp. There were no civilians waving flags just the very sooty faces of his own men.

Before he even made it to the town center a seargent hurried up a proffered a letter "It's from Munchen your highness." The price regally took it slit the wax seal and began to read. The triumphant smile he had had on his was remained but his eyebrows started to curve downwards.

"Colonel take the order to each regemint we march back for Brandenburg, the Prussians have started to amass an army. We do not yet know it pourposes but it is large. If the army is to attack poland Russia or Sweden We have orders to do nothing but if it should march twords us or Austria we must take action." He finished and nodded to his staff "Tourch the rest of the city, Pomerania shall be deprieved a Capital."

At dusk 98,500 Began a march back to Brandenburg and to fight a much better prepared army.

OOC- Sorry to cut this short but the army is needed else where and the battle isn't going very far anyway

OOC: Isn't Prussia, or its western half at least, a part of the Holy Roman Empire?

OOC- On maps yes but a principality was never made so it's just controlled by a bunch of warlords and so forth. So not really we were just wiping out resistance.
