Jarridia

TEMPORARILY PUT ON HOLD
During the first years of Jarridia's control over the Suez Canal and the Sinai Peninsula, the monetary value was inconceivable to the nation. The amount of trade that the land holding brought in was enormous, and the Jarridian coffers became extremely full. However, the amount of merchant superiority in the region has waned in the past few years, leaving the area to be more of an expense than an income.
With the amount of wars that have taken place in the Middle East and Mediterranean waters, the shipping industry has taken a major hit, and has indeed caused Jarridia's economy to stumble. Newer and more reliable transportation routes have immerged, especially with the increased use of the Panama Canal. Aircraft are much safer in that there is very little interference from a naval blockade. The time has come for Jarridia to relinquish its power of the Sinai Peninsula, and the Suez Canal. A team of Jarridian economic advisors and other political influences scoured the globe and especially focused on several nations that could possible take over the reigns of the area in question.
The council tried to find nations that would continue peaceful relations with Jarridia, and that had extensive economic policies that would be interested in taking a region that could be so much more economically powerful. Eventually, three nations were found, two of which have extremely similar economic and political capabilities as Jarridia. The nations were as follows: Vampirian City, Brindisi and Lord-General Drache. The council has been in deliberation since the top three were chosen, and a choice will be made shortly. Each nation has been alerted, and they have all expressed a willingness to purchase the Suez Canal.

Jarridian Congressional Hall; Shelbin, Jarridia
Deep in the heart of the Congressional building, 4 men and 4 women sat in the secluded office. Their objective was to find a suitable nation to relinquish the Suez Canal and its surrounding region to. After nearly a week of quiet seclusion and endless deliberation, they were ready to make their statement. For security reasons, the 8 people chosen will remain anonymous, and the President of Jarridia will make the statement regarding the transfer of power. Their letter read as such:
Dear Ms. President,
It is with our unanimous consent, that the Suez Canal and the Sinai Peninsula, and all that the area entails, be relinquished into the hands of the nation of Brindisi. It is our firm and agreed upon belief, that the Suez will be in extremely careful hands, and can be brought to a much higher economic stance than any of the other choices.
Brindisi's government has displayed many democratic qualities and has expressed the most economic outreach of any of the other nations. Brindisi is also an esteemed and formal member of the Westwood Alliance, and would therefore continue to have peaceful relations with Jarridia.
We suggest that the transfer take place as soon as possible, and take place in Port Said. This opportunity has been a pleasure, and we hope for continued prosperity and peace in the Middle East.

Presidential Palace; Shelbin, Jarridia
The stage had been set up in the front lawns of the palace. The sky was slighly overcast, and the temperature had dropped significantly from the other day, with highs only reaching the mid 60's. President Kasilyn Joan Branam made her way down to the stage, along with Kimberley Shaffir, Eric Johnson, and Brindisi President, Janine Whater. They reached the podium, in front of them was a mass of reporters from all over the globe. Ms. Whater was not used to having international spotlight, as Brindisi was not a key player in international politics at all, but her compuser continued to be exquisite. Kimberley Shaffir was the first to approach the podium, and in her usually soft, yet to the point attitude, she said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you for coming. I present to you, the President of the Pure Democracy of Jarridia, Kasilyn Joan Branam."
There was a genuine respectful clap, but most were busy taking pictures as the beautiful young lady approached the podium. Her eyes twinkled as the cameras flashed, and she gave her best and brightest smile.
"Good Afternoon everyone, and welcome to Shelbin. As some of you may, or may not know, the government of Jarridia has been seeking to relinquish its power over the Suez Claim. Over the past few years, the economy has seemed to stagnate and fall, and has become a slight burden on the Jarridian treasury. It is with sadness, yet open minded optimism, that Jarridia transfer the power to one of our allies, Brindisi.
Their government, especially under their newly elected president, Ms. Whater, has expressed a deep desire for peace and strong economic policy. They have worked close with the Jarridian government in the past, and have been a very important part of many of our international projects.
It is with great honor that I introduce to you, the President of Brindisi, Janine Whater."
There was a sort of awestruck emotion over the crowd, many were extremely alarmed by the fact that Jarridia was giving up its beloved claim on the Sue, but others of the international community felt that it was time to do so. Kasilyn turned around and gave a comforting smile to Janine, who was beginning to stand up and move towards the podium. The crowd of reporters had become restless and loud, shouting questions and trying to get the Brindisi President's attention. However, the guards had immerged and were doing their best to silence them. Questions would later be fielded by Kim Shaffir.
