Diplomatic Party Invite (Closed, Attn Northrop-Grumman)

Drizzts Do' Urdern sat there in his oak chair in his main office reading "How Hitler Could have won World War II" by Bevin Alexander. He had the crismon red curtains on the huge window to the left of his desk pulled closed because the sun offered too much sun that interferes with his reading. During these reading hours, he would think about politics, personal memories, and other topics like that sort because he doesn't have to deal with the constant talking from both the Prime Minister and his Cabinet that would give him headaches at night. He might have a Prime Minister, but half of the political burden is still on his shoulders.

After reading a few chapters in the book, Drizzt began to wonder if he should improve relations with other countries since that has been damaged because of the Civil War between Drizzt Forces and the large Communist power of Dean. Most of the embassies were in Drownin, which was destroyed by a ICBM in the last month of the war, so most of the diplomatic contacts, except for a few of the Isle of Arden members, are gone. "It is needed after all", Drizzt mumbled to himself, "Can't really function the nation right in a few ways or society without some understanding of foreign nations.". Who to start with is the big question, some of the major powers are either to busy with other things to even pay Drizzts Army any mind. The minor nations might, but his goverment doesn't really trust the small nations. Then, Drizzt just thought of a good nation to start with..."Northrop-Grumman" he said. Yes, Drizzts Army did have a former relations with that country in a way when the LLF conflict arised and most of the Space Fleet was made by them. He went onto his personal Lap-top, which he had on his desk, and began typing a e-mail that was decrypted to avoid any outside source to peek in. "Good thing I still remember the e-mail address Jack has" Drizzt commented to himself.

To Jack O'Neill (CEO of Northrop-Grumman),
Its been a long time ever since we contacted each other during the LLF conflict. Im pretty sure you might or might not remember that event, but we did not forget. This e-mail is decrypted so no bloody hacker can see this invitation I am about to send to you.

Ever since Drownin was nuked by a ICBM a few years ago, our diplomatic relations with other nations have been lost except with the major powers inside the Isles of Arden. The whole embassy block inside the former capital was destroyed. We began to be isolated from international affairs because we were to focused on domestic affairs and rebuilding.

However, we wish to enter the world stage once again. Well, let me get straight to the point. I wish for diplomatic talks between our nations to begin so that we both can have some understanding between one another. We also think that maybe Drizzts Army and Northrop-Grumman can somehow cooperate one way or another.

Therefore, I wish to invite you Jack, and some of your delegates and/or cabinet to a Diplomatic Dinner Party hosted in New Cahoon City to discuss different diplomatic offers and topics. The time and day shall be decided once a confirmation is sent from you.

Think hard and choose well Jack, I hope this message does come with good feedback.

Signed with respect,
Drizzts Do'Urdern (President of Drizzts Army)

Drizzt clicked send on the screen and laid back in his chair. To occupy himself while waiting for a reply, he poured himself some tea and went back to his book.

OOC: Note, I know that some of my Drizzt's behaviors is not like that of Drizzt Do'Urdern in the books. Also I'm sorry if there are any misspelling in the topic.

Chairman Jack O’Neill sat at his desk in his four-hundredth-floor office and tapped his fingers on the smooth surface of the mahogany desk as he read through several reports. A small amount of pain persisted in the palm of that hand since he had crushed a glass bottle in it about three weeks earlier, but the important thing was that the bandage was off so he could now grasp things. He leaned forward in his leather chair to study the reports before him more closely. Economic statistics, military requests, and intelligence reports plagued him daily and caused him to really hate the mornings. I really need a vacation, he thought to himself, then he heard a ping come from the computer. He looked up quickly. An e-mail? It’s never anything decent. Probably some spam about Viagra. He flipped open a panel on his armrest and pressed a button. Three transparent screens rose up from inside his desk and a keyboard along with a touchpad instead of a mouse slid out in front of him. He yawned, opened up the e-mail and read through it. Ohhh…I haven’t heard from him in a while. Looks like this is the vacation I’m waiting for. He began to type away eagerly at the keyboard.

To: Drizzts Do'Urdern -- President of Drizzts Army

It’s great to finally hear from you after all these years since that conflict. Although I haven’t really gotten any younger, I still remember it like it was yesterday.

I believe that diplomatic talks could be most beneficial to both our nations and would be honored to attend a dinner party in New Cahoon City. If it is alright with you, I would like to bring along with myself, my wife and son, General William Harris who is the commander-in-chief of the entire Air Force Space Command, and the chief of naval operations, Admiral Samuel Johnson. He just also happens to be the same admiral that commanded over the Essex carrier battle group that was sent to you during the LLF conflict. I hope that this event will be the start of new relations between our two nations.

Sincerely,
Jack O’Neill
Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President

He looked over the message before he sent it and could not get used to the fact that he wrote “and son” in there. It would be something to get used to. After seeing everything was alright, he pressed “Send” and proceeded to call his wife on his cell phone to tell her the news.

Drizzt went down to reading the e-mail once he heard the beep from his Laptop."A son?",Drizzt thought, "Never heard of his son, damn". He was getting ready to reply when the remaining tea in his cup got spilt on the floor. He cleaned it up with a rag before he got back to the laptop. He had to clear through some old mail he gotten and also a few popups about free computers and vacations before he got down to business.

To: Jack O'Neill (Main Head of Northrop-Grumman),

Excellent Excellent. Myself, My Prime Ministers Chief of Diplomactic Affairs Havok M'Net, Chief of the Army Uric O'Donald, and Chief Admiral Yuri U'Feltch shall attend this event. Sadly the Prime Minister himself is in the hospital attending to leg injuries from a hiking accident. If possible, either this evening or tommorrow it may start unless you prefer another time of course.

A HC 129 Transport Helicopter will be able to transport you and your company to my private residence southwest of New Cahoon City to attend the Dinner Party and maybe a few other things if possible.

With respect,
Drizzts Do'Urden (President of Drizzts Army)

After the e-mail, he called the Chiefs he planned to come to let them know about the news and asked if they could come, which all that were invited accepted. Then he contacted the 23rd Helicopter Squadron to request a HC 129 Helicopter to be ready to transport officials. The pilots name is "James Harrison" as he calls himself (not his real name). "Ah I know this boy, served as my personal helicopters co-pilot a few times during the Civil War. Good lad, but too serious at times" he went on after he was done with the phone call. Finally he was able to do some real work around this place again he thought.

As Jack waited patiently for a reply, he managed to place three phone calls to those who would be traveling with him to this diplomatic dinner party. The easiest was to his wife for all he had to do was call her on her cell phone. She said that she would be at the capital building within the hour. General Harris was also fairly easy. A simple transmission to his flagship in space was all that was required. He would be teleporting down as soon as he needed to be there. Now, Admiral Johnson, as usual, proved to be a difficult person to get in touch with. First, he had his carrier under radio silence while the fleet was performing war games. Secondly, he became extremely irritated whenever someone had interrupted his schedule. Nevertheless, after being persuaded by Jack, he agreed to attend the dinner party, but only under the condition that someone sends a shuttle for him. He had a dislike for any sort of teleportation system.

Jack’s mind started to wander, but then he heard a ping from the computer. He looked up at the screen and read through the email.

To: Drizzts Do'Urdern -- President of Drizzts Army

This evening would work out great. I have just called the other three people who will be traveling with me, and they will be here within the hour. Once they arrive, we will be immediately leaving in one of our puddlejumpers and should be there in a few hours.

Sincerely,
Jack O’Neill

After he pressed “Send”, he decided that now would be an excellent time to shower and get himself ready for this evening as he waited for the rest of his companions to arrive. He got up from his leather chair and wandered into the bathroom to do so.

Drizzt nodded when he saw the reply, finally closing the laptop. He never really liked modern electronics much, but he sighed and said thats the way of the future and he has to adapt to it. He rose from the chair and placed the book in its right place. He took time to look at a few paintings he had in his office, battlefields, classic works, scenery, and the like, it makes him wonder everytime he stares at them. He shakes his head so he can focus and opens the wooden door to head outside into the courtyard of the Executive Building. "Damn cold breeze" he barked as he reacted to it by rubbing his arms, its been like 5 years since he been out in cold weather and appearntly his senses are getting used to it again. He finally saw the normal black goverment helicopter come in onto the courtyard and accepting its national leader. The Helicopter was decent enough, it has seats, a few magazines to read, small fridge to store any food or beverage in there. Nothing fancy, but for Drizzt, it was just fine for him to travel in. He layed back in the seat and started to take a nap. The journey to his private residence was going to be long because the distance to his private residence was into the local mountains of the island.

In the closed hangar bay where the puddlejumpers were kept inside the capital building, Jack paced back and forth across the wide open area while General William Harris tapped his black dress shoes against the metal floor as they grew annoyed at the ever increasing tardiness of Admiral Samuel Johnson. Both generals were dressed in their appropriate dark blue air force uniforms with the additional double-breasted overcoat and gloves. Meanwhile, Jack’s wife, Siri, who was wearing a fur coat with matching hat, gloves and scarf, leaned nearby on one of the smooth sides of one of the tube-shaped vessels with their son wrapped up in her arms. She looked over at the entrance to the bay and sighed. The admiral was already twenty minutes late. Then the large metal door slid open and Admiral Johnson, in his blue naval uniform, limped in with his cane.

“Jesus, Sam. You’re gonna be late for your own funeral,” replied Jack. “What took you so long? I sent the shuttle right over.”

“Yeah, well, maybe if you sent one with an actual pilot, I’d be here on time. It took me about fifteen minutes to get up enough nerve to get in.” The admiral pointed his cane right at Jack. “I wish you would cut it out with your damned technology.”

General Harris spoke up. “There’s absolutely nothing wrong with something that can fly by itself. Hell, what do you think I’ve been doing for the past thirty years, sitting at a desk?”

“Bill, I don’t really care if you are flying around in that oversized paperweight up in space. It’s not gonna change my mind.”

Jack looked at his watch and cut them both off. “Alright, kids. Time to load up. We’re already late.”

They immediately walked over to one of the puddlejumpers and got inside. Jack was ready to pilot the vessel out of the hangar bay when he suddenly remembered something and walked over to Admiral Johnson.

“Sam, could you give me your sidearm, please?”

The admiral reached his coat and pulled out a M1911A1 pistol. He gave it over to Jack who removed the magazine and gave the unloaded pistol back. Sam quickly asked, “Why’d you do that?”

“So you don’t shoot anyone. You have this nasty habit of almost shooting the leaders of other nations. Remember, Emperor Narqu, Prime Minister Wallace, and…” He looked over to Siri who shot Sam an annoyed look. “…my wife. I don't want you to go for number four.”

Sam stood silent as Jack turned to pilot the puddlejumper out of the hangar bay. He hit a button on the console in front of him and the door on the ceiling opened as an iris, and the vessel powered up and flew out through it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

After several hours of flight, they arrived at the designated airport where Jack landed the puddlejumper. The rear door opened downward and rested on the ground. The five passengers then exited out of the vessel and into the cold weather.

Just Overhead
Instead of the HC-129 Helicopter as promised, a Navy UH-60 appears overhead, sending the few flurries were dropping in every direction. The distinct sound of the rotor blades ain't that bad, not very loud like how a Hueys would be. The slide door was open, it was cozy enough and there were enough seats for the guests. The chaingun that was on the side points upwards so it won't be in the direction of Jack and the others. A guy in a gray flightsuit comes out of the helicopter side, he was drow, with short snow white hair. He came up to Jack and shook his head

"Welcome to Fort Erwin Naval Base, I'm Lieutenant Commander Ma'Lock. We have been ordered to take you and your guests aboard the Helicopter to transport you to President Drizzt's Residence on Cahoon Island, it'll only take about 30 minutes to get there because we have to refuel over the ocean from a tanker from Cahoon Island." he stated to Jack O'Neill.

Jack smiled and nodded to the lieutenant commander. "That'll work out just fine. I wouldn't mind a little helicopter ride. Haven’t had one in years."

As they climbed aboard the helicopter, Sam quietly complained into Jack, “Are we sure these people know how to fly a chopper? I’d rather have someone I know at the controls like you, me, or Bill.”

Jack looked right at Sam. “Would you just cut that out? Why can’t you trust anyone that’s not human or not from Northrop-Grumman? Just let him do his job and stop complaining.”

Sam appeared aggravated and climbed aboard the helicopter along with Jack who said to the lieutenant commander, "We're all ready."

Lt. Commander Ma'Lock nodded at Jack, checking if everyones seatbelts were in, began to press the controls to begin the usual hover, then started to head east.
Random radio messages are heard inside the helicopter, but nothing really drastic happens. The chilly air that was felt at the Navy Base was still there, but not as bad now.

Ma'Lock didn't talk much to the passengers, just trying to do his job. His Co-Pilot sorta nudges the Lt. Commander and says. "Navy Battlegroup 12 in view sir". Surely enough, there were many navy ships on exercise.

In the battlegroup exercise were 2 Nimitz Carriers, 5 Kiev V/STOL ASW Carriers, 5 Bismarck Class Battleships, 4 Kirov Battlecruisers, 5 California Class Crusiers, 10 Kidd Class Destroyers, and 3 Typhoon Class SSBNs. The view was amazing.

"DZA Jutland, this is Navy Blue Five, requesting one of your mini-tankers to come up and refuel us, Over" Ma'Lock asked over the radio.

"Navy Blue Five, this is Jutland, Roger than Blue Five, we are sending a tanker to refuel your tanks, Over" the reply was.

"Thanks Jutland, Blue Five out", Ma'Lock finished the convo over the radio, "It'll only take a few moments to get this done and over with." he said to the passengers.

The passengers gazed out of the windows with amazement at the battlegroup below. This was the first time that any of them had seen this many naval vessels gathered together including the admiral.

Jack called forward to Ma'Lock, "That's a fine fleet you all have out there. Its probably the largest I've ever seen." Sam, for once, nodded in agreement.

Ma'Lock coughed on that one "Large, but most of the ships aren't really that advanced, like the Bismarck Battleships. We stole the design during WW2 from the Germans and used it in our own Navy. All we really did with them was add both Ground to Air Missles, and advanced electronics on them, but they are still almost the same way like how the Bismarck and Tirpitz were during their time in the German Navy. The real problem we have is the different types of ships. Because of Dean, we have a whole range of both Russian and American Designs, and that really causes problems when it comes to repairing and such because we need to get different tools and parts to carry that out." explained Ma'Lock

After the short talk, the tanker aircraft they requested came into view, it coming over the helicopter and begins to drop the fuel line. The helicopter steadies to catch the fuel line, this takes about 2 minutes. Finally, Ma'Lock locks the fuel line with the helicopter, and fuel begins to pour in. After the 5 minute fill-up, the line was disconnected.

"Thanks a million Tanker Echo, Over" Ma'Lock said over the radio.

"No problem Blue Five, whenever you need fuel, just call, Out"

The Tanker finally went towards its left and begun its journey back to the carrier. Ma'Lock passes the battlegroup, seeing the island far ahead. One of the Nimitz Carrier Captains notices that a fighter escort may be needed for the helicopter, so a Navy Su-27 forms up with the helicopter slowly to provide escort.

While the helicopter refueled, Jack replied back to Ma'Lock, "I imagine that they'll work pretty well for the time being until you can get something to replace the outdated models."

The passengers watched the fillup from where they sat and after it had been completed, Sam spoke up. "So Lieutenant Commander, how long have you been in the service?"

The passengers watched the fillup from where they sat and after it had been completed, Sam spoke up. "So Lieutenant Commander, how long have you been in the service?"

"For about 10 years in the Navy, flying helicopters all the time for Anti-Submarine Operations, Transport, Medical, the usual duties. Been in 3 wars for now in my service sir." the Lieutenant Commander replyed. "He is probably wondering if I got enough experince so he doesn't have to worry about some sorry ass greenhorn pilot screwing up, good good" he thought while flying the UH-60.

"There's Cahoon Island right there ladies and gentlemen." Ma'Lock reported over the radio. On the ground, there is a rocky beach, covered with boulders, small shrubs, and a few animals aswell. This whole section of the island is almost like Great Britain, except that the mountains are just right ahead in the direction they are going. Like the usual, they have snow on the tops of them, no signs of major cities, only small towns at the bases. When they get very close to the mountains, the helicopter takes a left turn and starts heading around the mountain chain to the other side. Ma'Lock explains that the mountains have terrible wind conditions around this time of year so it'll be difficult for him to fly through it.

The admiral nodded to Ma'Lock's reply. "Sounds very impressive. I myself flew fighters most of my career. I've been in four wars already either as a pilot or as a commander of my own ship." He felt a little better now that he knew that an experienced pilot was flying the helicopter and relaxed.

Meanwhile, Siri kept moving around in her seat and leaned over towards Jack. "Are we almost there?"

Jack pulled his sleeve up from the watch. "We'll be a few more minutes. Why?"

"This seat is beginning to hurt my back. I just don't know how the three of you can stay in them for so long."

"The more you ride in a chopper, the less of a pain it is."

She tried to ignore the unpleasantness by looking out the window at the new scenery.

"I tried fighters, but just can't handle the G forces you feel when flying one of them." Ma'Lock told the admiral. He thanked god that he doesn't have to go through those again, he about passed out for a good 5 hours when he tried them 8 years ago in a old F-14 Tomcat.

The helicopter began to decrease in altitude. "Alright, there it is" Ma'Lock reported on the radio. Down below was a huge villa, about 2 floors. There was a pool in the back, but its covered up because its so cold this season. There is also signs of there being a small golf course to the north of it, also there being a helipad on the roof of the villa, which currently has a HC-129 Helicopter there. There is a free helipad on the roof aswell, which is where the Lt.Commander is trying to land. He orbits the helipad for a few seconds before slowly taking the helicopter in and making a perfect solid landing.

Waiting on the helipad are 2 escort guards, armed with a strange looking assault rifle, and also a scimitar at their sides. The quietly wait for Jack O'Neill and the other guests to come over.

Most of the passengers climbed out of the helicopter and stiffly walked towards the guards while the admiral stayed behind to speak with Ma'Lock.

“I’m impressed, Lieutenant Commander. You’ve done some excellent flying and landing. I can see why your president chose you to fly us around,” he commented. He generally liked those in the Navy that had proven themselves worthy to wear the uniform. “Keep up the good work and I’m sure you’ll reach admiral.”

He said goodbye and walked over to the rest of his traveling companions who were waiting patiently for him.

"Thank you Admiral, have a pleasent stay in Drizzts Army" Ma'Lock replied with a respectful tone. The Helicopter then finally started to hover again and fly the way from which they came from.

The two guards waited for everyone to form up in a group before they spoke. "We are here to escort you down into the lobby, please follow us". The two guards then turned around and started to lead the diplomatic party towards a glass elevator, which was framed in a shiny metallic structure. The guards went inside the large lift and waited for the guests to come in before they pulled the lever to go down.

After Admiral Johnson rejoined the rest of the group, they quickly followed the guards into the glass elevator. Upon entering, both generals and the admiral removed their service caps and held them under their arms. The entire group was glad to be inside away from the cold weather because they had had enough of the frigid temperatures back in Northrop-Grumman. The weather at home was miserable with constant high winds, below-zero temperatures, and blinding snow. It trapped people in their homes, and those that were able to get out attempted to drive to work could not go anywhere because most places of business were closed.
