The threat….

Space, bleak, black, an eternal expanse which is home to millions of species home to billions of beings, who dwell in the small areas of matter considered Galaxies. Though space is not the only home to life, there is another realm, another dimension home to something greater, home, to the Shivans……

Below the standard existence which the humans consider home, the great menace was once again plotting and scheming, the fleets rebuilt, the race repopulated since the last great war.

Moving through the vast murky clouds that made deep subspace, the Shivan expeditionary force was once again preparing to descend upon their prey, to ravage their enemies, to consume and forge the future.

On board the flagship Ravana was something not Shivan, on board the warship was something that used to be human, now altered and warped into something more, acceptable to the Shivan overmind. On board the Ravana was the former fleet commander of a lost nation, on board, was Admiral Aken Bosch………

The coils protruded from every corner of his body, wires connected directly to his neurons, and his skin, his skin was now a translucent sheet of Shivan armour. Bosch was no longer human, the ancient Admiral was now something much worse, the Admiral was a human Shivan hybrid.

Admiral Aken Bosch was the mind behind every Shivan incursion, he was the hate behind the war. He was, to the detriment of human kind, somewhat, alive….

Day 1198345
I continue to take these logs in the hope that human kind will someday understand me. I continue to narrate and explain away my actions almost religiously, and every time I do it, it makes me wonder what will happen after my eventual death. Will the great maker forgive me for my sins, will he find me guilty for the deaths of millions? Or will the maker understand the necessities of their sacrifice, will the maker understand the decadence and new found arrogance of the homo-sapien. We are not the God sent rulers of the Universe, it is not our right to destroy what we do not understand, but it is my right, to eliminate this….. injustice. I leave now, to correct the errors of my species .

Skulking through subspace the Shivan force was preparing to arise to real space. Fighters dodged from ship to ship, capital vessels charged the beam weapons, and ever while Bosch listened to the hives demands and wishes. It called upon him, it beckoned him to complete the task, the Shivan fleet passed from subspace to Dyoes Tertius.

The system was that of any standard colony. There was one populated world, surrounded by mining installations. The system itself had the usual trickle of traders who would be astonished to find an amassing horde of blue portals.

From the Shivan realm, the swarm of fighters had arrived……….

The Kalden exploration vessel, the KRSV Sun Chaser, had stopped at this small colony to trade and open diplomatic channels with the inhabitants several days ago. It seemed as if that decision was about to cost the Senior Commander and his crew. Klaxons blared in the command center as the sensor officer made his report.

"Multiple unidentified vessels on an intercept vector! Their weapons are armed!"

"Combat Alert, level Five! Helm Officer, get us out of here!"

The ship turned and began accelerating away from the oncoming vessels. The chase was on.

Sebastian "Rock" Magnum was the type of Komodren that didn't like to be seen by many a person. He stood alone in many a matter, he was alone in many things. No family, few friends, and nothing but the clothes on his scaly hide. Standing about seven feet, and having a normal build, sweat dripped from his exposed chest as he stood near the an exit.

He had been working in the mines for over a year now. It was hard work, regular and unchanging. It was worth it, he got paid over a thousand Denars a week. Enough to live on.

At one time he thought of joining the Republic Marines, and tried. That all changed when he realized he wasn't the "preferred type". He had put his all into it, but in the end it wasn't enough. Not enough to the people judging him, at least. It was a breaking point in his life, and after that moment he fell apart.

The aftermath of which was this. Mining. He had enough for this, too much sometimes. He worked hard and did well. Thats all that mattered, and the Denars.

With a deep sigh, mist came from his reptilian nostrals. Very humid down here, especially the heat. But he was used to it. Not much to it. He looked back at the clear passage-way and realized that it was time to head home. What could be described as a happy expression came over his snout, his eyes closing and opening slowly. He grabbed his work tool and a towel from the wall, and headed to the showers.

Dyoes Tertius Space Port - Anagonian Battle Ship Excalibur - On port leave

High Admiral Jack Savage was standing before the three huge main screens on the observation deck, gazing over the days happenings here and there. He happened to cross a data feed earlier that had just came in a few hours back, and was currently looking through it. Its words brought a heavy sigh to his aged being, the Republic was collapsing. He couldn't believe that such a thing could happen, now of all times.

His grip held a small controller, and he pressed on its small screen to stop a feed of information. He observed it for quite some time. The Confederacy of Independent Systems had apparently fully formed, and had already a Star Force of its own. They weren't a threat, far from it rather. But something unusal was included in the information feed. They were escaping something, calling on every being to run.

He pressed something again, and a large sensory feed came up. Hundreds of transports from the CIS were leaving, heading towards somewhere. They had inculded some scattered information about some unknown fleets movements, but the data had been purposly cut through. Apparently enroute to all ships.

The unusal part, as Jack skimmed forward through the information, was that many of the fleeing ships had stopped on worlds still controlled by the Republic. They apparently had gathered people.

"What the hell is going on here," he said to himself in a whisper.

Suddenly the alarms went off on the ship, and the observation decks screens went to battle conditions, displaying unknown/enemy ship detections and current trajectories. With a sigh he ran to the exit, and started towards the bridge.

Dyoes Tertius Command Center - Dyoes Tertius Central Command Station

Elnora Mable stood at her post as the alarms sounded, she sighed and looked at the huge screen to her right. He tail twitched akwardly, as she read over the data feed coming from the Battleship docked to the station. She hadn't known of any vessels of this kind registering for a visit, and she was not in the least happy about it.

Elnora had just paged the Admiral on the Excalibur to ask if he knew whom they were. He responded briefly saying no, and it was advised to set all defenses to high alert. She had did just that. The stations Twenty battlecruiser-grade defense cannons were brought online, and its fifty or so defense cannons were trained to the small craft. A warning had already been sent out, and if the unknown ships did not halt at a certian point, the defense weapons would automatically fire.

There were already four transports docked to the station, and they were prepped for evacuation duties if needed. Hopfully it wouldn't come down to it, this mining station was vital to the Republic's survival.

Blue portals opened throughout the system warping the dark void of space into a glittering blue of subspace activity. Without warning, and without mercy, the swarm was dispatched, the great tide of Shivan craft erupting forth, their red hulls resembling the fiery fury of Mount Vesuvius.

They relentlessly continued upon their course, ignoring lone vessels fleeing from their path, instead the Shivans ploughed on towards the defensive installations and fortresses which would attempt resistance.

So far hundreds of fighters had passed into the colony system, and yet still more were being spawned. The line was like a vast claw, slowly engulfing the enemy, drowning them in sheer numerical superiority. And then it happened, weapons range had been reached…..

At once the Shivan vanguard exploded into flames, the first wave obliterated by the defence cannons which searched the void. However the Shivan fighters were not foolish, instantly they broke apart, every fighter scattering as though they fled. However, the Shivans were not fleeing…they were obeying.

Here… The Overmind commanded. And the Fighters complied.

Turning, and then diving in a sharp right angle the swarm moved ever closer to the defence cannons, and then, they opened fire. The Red bolts from each fighter turned the Anagonian installations a dull red as they impacted, and then, the battle was joined. Enemy fighters had arrived…

There… The Overmind commanded with a degree of authority.

Leaving the general mass fifty fighters concentrated upon their counter parts. Mara fighters took the beatings from the enemy, while the fast nimble Asataroths struck from behind; their energy cannons impacting and destroying what targets were available, and yet, the Overmind wanted more.

Secondary Weapons….

The collective consciousness demanded the use of missiles, and the drones obeyed. The fighters each unloaded their payload of Hornets, the single warheads strove to meet their targets. Viewing from a thousand different drones, from a thousand different perspectives, Bosch was well aware of the situation.

Upon his cruiser, the mutilated human managed a smirk, as the Hornet missiles exploded apart, releasing several further missiles, covering the space scape in a field of grey exhaust….

Elnora Mable had seen the four transports leave without incident. For some reason the attacking ships had simply ignored all evac tuating assests and non-assets, and went straight for the defensive installations. She had noted that the rest of the crew still on board the station were ordered strictly to board the Battleship, and leave everything behind. There were only a few hundred people left, and she was one of many running to the docking exits, making sure as she looked back that everyone got by fine.

With a grunt she grasped a poll and twisted herself in line with the docking exit, and ran straight down. She stopped in the middle and started waving her hand in a wheel motion. She noted each and every face, and even saw a few Station crew stopping to assist. She quickly waved a few off, but didn't mess with the others. Most were security anyway.

Seeing the last few twenty run into the docking exit, she nodded to those whom stayed along the walkway to help her. They nodded back, and quickly all ran to the Battleships entrance.

Dyoes Tertius Space Port - Anagonian Battle Ship Excalibur - Preparing for Departure
Jack Savage had noticed immedietly the concentrated movement of the unknown ships, quickly ordering all tactical crews not to fire in defense. This was a different type of intrusion, they didn't even go for the civilian ships. These things only went after anything that would put up a fight, that was instantly noted. He wasn't going to put the Excalibur at risk. It was too valuable in this situation.

He looked down at his pad, and noted that the contigent of marines had finished scanning the station for any people left behind. He nodded to himself, they would soon be back on board.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sebastian Magnum had ran to the exit and literally slammed into the closed doors to the Battleship. His breath was heavy as he realized his situation, he had missed the call to evacuate. He slammed his fist into the titanium doors, and started to run from the walkway. With a heavy sigh he looked at the long hallway to the right, noting the other docking exits. He would die here, most certianly...

"Hey, rock!"

His head turned to the left, a Republic Marine, and a familiar face!

"Get your ass over here, were going on ship!"

With a heavy nod he ran to the Republic Marine, afterwhich many other heavy footfalls followed against the metal flooring. Quickly all entered a second exit, the last looking around one more time, then leaving.
